Authur FEWER Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following a collision investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 11:24 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a single-vehicle collision on Talbot Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a pickup truck was travelling on Talbot Street North when it veered off the roadway and collided with a residence. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the driver at the scene and, after conducting a sobriety assessment, took them into custody without incident.

60-year-old Authur FEWER from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Careless driving,
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance,
  • Fail to surrender permit for vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

PALMER-LAMBERT Drunk Driving

(BURK’S FALLS, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to an impaired call.

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., police received a call of a small black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the ditch on Highway 11, Burk’s Falls. The complainant spoke to the male driver who seemed to be impaired. Police attended a short afterwards and arrested the driver. The vehicle was also subsequently towed and impounded. 

William (Colby) PALMER-LAMBERT, 33-years-old, Bonfield Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on March 13, 2025.

LACELLE Was Arrested


(SOUTH STORMONT TWP., ON)- The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has charged one individual with stolen property and firearms offences.  

On Friday, January 17, 2025, the Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the East Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad, Emergency Response Team and members of the SD&G OPP Detachment, executed a warrant at a residence on Sandtown Road in South Stormont. Investigators recovered stolen property and firearms, and one individual was arrested.

Robert LACELLE, age 40 of North Dundas was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – six counts
  • Obstruct a peace officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 20, 2025.

2 Deceased Following Collision

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a head-on collision, which resulted in the death of two people.

On January 23, 2025, shortly after 11:00 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

A 69-year-old-person from Wawa was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other people were transported by Air ORNGE with serious life-threatening injuries to a local hospital, where a 74-year-old person from Sault Ste. Marie, later succumb to their injuries. Three other people were treated at the scene with minor injuries.

The highway was closed in both directions for just over eight hours.

The investigation is still ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Traffic Collision Investigation Team to determine the cause of the collision.

25 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested Following Hit & Run

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On January 22nd, 2025, at 7:35 a.m., Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of a vehicle in the ditch and had been there for several hours idling.

Police attended the scene on Country Lane and located the vehicle in the ditch. After speaking with the driver, police entered an investigation for impaired driving.

As a result, 25-year-old, Josh Kierstead-Oliver from Coboconk was arrested and charged with

  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to report accident

The accused was released from custody with a future court date and served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

The passenger in the vehicle was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for having liquor in open container in unauthorized place.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – LEBERT Arrested, Meth A Factor

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a stolen pickup and arrested the driver, subsequently charging him with multiple offences.

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 2:51 a.m., while on general patrol, the Leamington OPP observed a stolen pickup truck at Lutsch Street and Talbot Street East in Leamington.  

The Essex County Community Street Crime Unit along with officers from Leamington, Kingsville and Essex OPP located the vehicle and stopped it and took the driver in custody without incident.

Officers subsequently located suspected Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Oxycodone. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at approximately $11,845.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher LEBERT, a 51-year-old from Windsor, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

• Possession for the purpose of Trafficking-Methamphetamine

• Possession for the purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine

• Possession for the purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl (two counts)

• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on April 3, 2025.

Randall SMITH Was Arrested – Details Released

(NORTH SHORE TOWNSHIP, ON) – The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver in after numerous traffic complaints.  

On January 20, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the OPP were notified of the burgundy car with a black roof now travelling northbound on Highway 108 at a high rate of speed, passing unsafely, and driving erratically. Police intercepted the car and conducted a traffic stop near Mountain Road in Elliot Lake. While speaking to the driver, police also detected a strong odour of cannabis. As a result, approximately 30 grams of suspected cannabis and approximately 1100 unmarked cigarettes were seized.   

Randall SMITH, 37-years-old, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Careless Driving
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes

Jeffrey SHAWANA Was Arrested

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – One person is facing charges after a single vehicle collision in Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) Township.

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle rolled over in the ditch on Highway 540 in the NEMI Township. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services. Through further investigation, police determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and an arrest was made.

As a result, the driver, Jeffrey SHAWANA, 38-years-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on February 25, 2025.

Violent Home Invasion – Preston GRATTON Arrested

(UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY, ON) – Police arrested and charged one person after responding to a family dispute

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute on Ministic Lake Road, Unincorporated Territory, north of Sudbury.

A family member attended the property and entered the residence by force, then assaulted an individual with a handheld tool. The victim received minor injuries and was transported to the local hospital by Emergency Medical Services.

As a result of the investigation, Preston GRATTON, 26 years-of-age, from Copper Cliff, was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
  • Assault with a weapon – two counts
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

The accused was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 24, 2025, in Sudbury.

Terence ELLIOTT Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On January 22, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person in relation to a mischief at an apartment on Axmith Avenue in Elliot Lake.

On January 3, 2025, police were called to the apartment regarding a broken window at one of the apartment units. The complainant had video footage of the male responsible.    

Terence ELLIOTT, 35-years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with, Mischief – destroys or damages property.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 13, 2025.

28 Year Old From Guelph Arrested

(GUELPH, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Guelph resident with a criminal charge stemming from a series of motor vehicle collisions.

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were on proactive patrol on Watson Parkway South, Guelph when they were made aware of a motor vehicle sideswiping a city bus, striking another motor vehicle and landing into a nearby ditch. 

As a result of the investigation, Taylor MURRAY, a 28-year-old of Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on February 7, 2025.

Belleville Police Daily Update 23Jan2025

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 62 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on January 22, 2025 to 5:00 am on January 23, 2025.

Breach of Probation

On the 22nd of January at 1:50pm, Belleville Police received a report that a male who had been released from custody earlier in the day was currently breaching his conditions.  Officers commenced an investigation and determined that a 30-year-old Belleville man had breached two conditions of his Probation Order.  Police located the male in the early morning hours on the 23rd of January and arrested him without incident.   He was charged with two counts of failing to comply with his Probation Order and held in custody for a bail hearing. 

Stolen vehicle recovered

On the 22nd of January at 9:10pm, officers were called to a downtown business regarding a vehicle which had been stolen within the previous two hours.  Police were able to locate the vehicle using its onboard vehicle tracking system.  The vehicle was located in the area of Hwy 2 and Point Anne Rd.  The vehicle was a 2024 Genesis and was unoccupied when recovered.  Police are continuing the investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this theft or the persons responsible are asked to contact Cst. Drug & Weapons Bust – Names Released

The Sarnia Police Major Case Action Team (MCAT) regularly investigates drug trafficking within the City of Sarnia. 

On January 22, 2025, members of MCAT, supported by the SPS Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K9, executed two simultaneous search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  One warrant was executed at a London Line Motel, and the second at a residence in the 200 block of London Road. 

During the warrant execution at the motel, police found two individuals inside (Krystal OWEN and Jesse KROM) and they were arrested without incident.  A search of the premises resulted in the seizure of:

  • 2.71 grams of fentanyl
  • 43 oxycodone pills
  • 203.29 grams of cocaine
  • 1 shotgun with a defaced serial number
  • 26 rounds of ammunition
  • $1,660 in cash

Upon entry to the London Road residence, a 15-year-old male youth from the GTA attempted to flee out the rear exit and was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.  In order to effect the arrest, use of a conducted energy weapon was necessary.  A search of the youth uncovered:

  • $4,435 in cash
  • 11 oxycodone pills

A subsequent search of the residence revealed:

  • A loaded Glock handgun
  • 132.56 grams of cocaine

The total street value of the drugs and cash seized is estimated at $47,073.50.

Charges:

Kristal OWEN, 43 years of Sarnia, and Jesse KROM 34 years, both of Sarnia, have been held for bail on multiple charges including:

  • Firearm-related offences
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Schedule I substances
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

A young person has also been charged with multiple offences and cannot be named pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

STPS Daily Update 23Jan2025

Impaired Operation

A 23 year old London resident has been arrested after police were called to a collision just before 6 a.m.. Officers attended St. George Street near Cowan Park after being notified by collision reporting software that a crash was detected. Upon arrival, police located damage to a guardrail in the area with the damaged vehicle located a short distance away, unoccupied. Officers searched the area and located the 23 year old driver, on foot. While speaking with the individual, officers were concerned the driver may be impaired and a roadside screening device was administered, resulting in a fail. The 23 year old was arrested and transported to police headquarters where further testing confirmed the individual was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently charged with Operation while Impaired – Plus 80. Their license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. ST25001320

Warrant Arrests 

A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Wednesday January 22nd 2025, while on an unrelated call for service, officers located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for 3 counts of Failure to Comply with Probation and Theft under $5,000. The individual was transported to police headquarters where they were processed and transferred to court. ST25001282/0936

A 26 year old Mississauga resident has been arrested. On Wednesday January 22nd 2025, STPS were contacted by Brant County OPP who had the individual in their custody on the strength of our warrant, stemming from an incident in November 2024 where the 26 year old had been charged with Sexual Interference, Luring a Person Under 16 and Invitation to Sexual Touching. Officers attended Brant County to take custody and transport the individual to St. Thomas Police Headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25001293

Theft

Approximately $86 worth of groceries have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday January 22nd 2025, police were called to the store to investigate the report of an unknown individual leaving the store without to paying for their items. The individual was approached by store staff who were able to retrieve most of the items. Police are reviewing video surveillance to identify the person responsible. ST25001272

Approximately $250 worth of groceries have been reported stolen from a retail store on Talbot Street. On Wednesday January 22nd 2025, officers were called to the store to investigate the report of two unknown individuals leaving the store without paying for the items in their cart. Video surveillance of the incident is being reviewed as police continue to investigate. ST25001290

Shane Sylvestre Facing Numerous Charges

Five stolen vehicles recovered, suspect charged

A 40-year-old man is facing a litany of criminal charges after the Windsor Police Service recovered five stolen vehicles. 

In the early hours of January 21, 2025, a male suspect was captured on surveillance video breaking into an auto repair business in the 10000 block of Tecumseh Road East. The man unlawfully entered through a window, took several sets of car keys, and returned multiple times to steal a total of five vehicles. 

Later that day, officers recovered three of the stolen vehicles a short distance from the business. The fourth vehicle was located several hours later near the intersection of Algonquin Street and California Avenue, while the fifth vehicle was found in the 2700 block of Meadowbrook Ln.

Members of the Windsor Police Target Base Unit launched an investigation and soon identified the suspect as Shane Sylvestre. Investigators confirmed that Sylvestre was also wanted in connection to a theft of tools from a trailer at a business in the 3000 block of Forest Glade Drive earlier this month.

Investigators applied for and were granted a warrant to arrest Sylvestre. Shortly after midnight on January 22, officers located and arrested Sylvestre at a residence in the 1600 block of Ouellette Avenue.

At the time, he was subject to court-ordered conditions including house arrest and a Criminal Code driving prohibition.
