Andrew Robert GODFREY Facing Numerous Charges

Incident Number TB25002329

One individual faces several charges after a firearm incident last week.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Bay Street at about 5:15 p.m. on Friday, January 17 after receiving reports of an assault and a firearm having been discharged.

Nobody was struck by a gunshot and no serious injuries have been reported.

The investigation resulted in a suspect being identified.

The suspect was taken into custody following a planned high-risk arrest that took place in the area of the 200 block of Amelia Street West on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 22.

Andrew Robert GODFREY, 48, is charged with the following:
• Assault with a Weapon
• Careless Use of a Firearm
• Carrying a Concealed Weapon
• Pointing a Firearm
• Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
• Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x5

The accused appeared in court on Thursday and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

 Assault/Arrest Robbery – Case# CK25004404

Date: January 22, 2025, Time: 17:59 hrs., Location: Canal Street, Tilbury

Details:

  • A 42-year-old male, Chatham resident, reported being physically assaulted by his 27-year-old roommate, also a Chatham resident. The victim fled the residence and informed Chatham-Kent police officers that the suspect was still inside, potentially armed with a weapon though it was not used or brandished during the assault. The accused was arrested in Chatham during a traffic stop. The 27-year-old male was held for bail.

Weapons, drug charges following lockdown

A Guelph teen faces weapons and drug charges following an incident Wednesday which led to a high school being briefly placed in lockdown.

Approximately 1:40 p.m. police were called to the south-end school. Staff had learned a male attended the school to sell cannabis to students, and during an interaction in a bathroom brandished a small black handgun.

Officers arrived minutes later and located the male just outside the school. He was placed under arrest. A search revealed a black bb gun in the male’s pocket as well as a quantity of cannabis separated into various packages.

A 17-year-old Guelph male is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failing to comply with a judicial release and two counts under the Cannabis Act including selling to an individual under 18. He will appear in court March 5.

The arrested youth was not a student at the high school.

Man injured in road rage incident

The Guelph Police Service is looking to speak to witnesses after a motorist was struck and injured during a road rage incident Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately 3:10 p.m. emergency services were called to the area of Laird Road and Hanlon Creek Boulevard for an injured male. Investigation revealed two drivers had been engaged in a verbal dispute. While one male was walking back to his vehicle he was struck by the other one. The victim in his 30s was transported to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries and his vehicle was also struck and damaged.

The driver of a dark grey GMC Terrain fled the scene. It will be missing the passenger-side mirror and have damage to the front passenger side.

Lottery ticket theft investigation

The Guelph Police Service is continuing to investigate and seeking the public’s assistance after nearly $50,000 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets were stolen from a north-end business late last year.lotto ticket suspect

Police were called December 16 to a business on Woodlawn Road West. Investigation revealed a suspect had pried open the front doors to gain entry to the store overnight.

They were captured on video a short time later exiting the business with two reusable shopping bags filled with scratch tickets and fleeing in their vehicle. The owner of the business advised the tickets were not activated at the time of the theft and would be flagged so they could be redeemed.

An investigation by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation revealed someone had attempted to redeem one of the stolen tickets the morning of December 15 at a business in Waterloo.

Police believe the male in the attached photos might have information relevant the investigation. Nikhil Batta Impaired Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A driver is facing charges following a motor vehicle collision in the Township of Perth East.

In the early hours of January 23rd, 2025, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single vehicle collision.

As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Nikhil Batta of London was arrested and charged with the following offences:

·        Operation while Impaired contrary to the Criminal Code

·        Have Care or Control of a Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act 2017

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on March 3rd, 2025.

Miroslav DEMETER – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation as a result of a RIDE spot check.

On January 23, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., a vehicle entered a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check location setup by officers on Old School Road and Heart Lake Road, in the Town of Caledon. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Miroslav DEMETER, 50, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concertation (80 plus)

• Operation while impaired – alcohol 

• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on February 13, 2025, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have arrested four individuals in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

On Wednesday January 22, 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU made an arrest of two individuals during a suspected drug transaction. The individuals were searched and officers seized 40.9 grams of Fentanyl and 7 grams of crack cocaine.

Officers further executed a search warrant of a location in the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan and further seized 23 grams of cocaine, 9.9 grams of crack cocaine, 118 Percocet, drug packaging, digital scales, and $8,010 in Canadian currency. During the search, a third person, currently wanted by the Peterborough Police Service (PPS), was located and turned over to them.

A second search warrant was executed at a location in Peterborough City where a fourth (4th) person was located and arrested. During this search, officers seized an additional 77 grams of cocaine as well as $1,287 in Canadian currency. An additional unrelated person with multiple outstanding warrants with PPS was also located and turned over to them

John FOOTE (age 61) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin) – two counts

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Patrick MIDDLETON (age 38) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

 Jessica NEEDHAM (age 37) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000

Both these accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 18, 2025.

A fourth accused, a 45-year-old from Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds obtained by Crime Under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a later date.

Neil DEJOODE Was Arrested

(MOONBEAM, ON) – A motorized snow vehicle (MSV) collision in Moonbeam has resulted in life-altering injuries for the driver and impaired driving charges.

On January 23, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Cochrane District Ambulance responded to a serious single MSV collision on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) “A” Trail in Moonbeam.

The operator was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is being treated for life-altering injuries. As a result of the investigation, Neil DEJOODE, 46-year-old, from Haley Station has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on February 24, 2025.

Additionally, officers determined that another MSV operator at the scene had consumed alcohol. The individual was issued a demand to provide a breath sample into an approved screening device (ASD) and failed to do so. As a result, Nicolas BOND, 37 years old from Phelpston, was arrested and charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on February 24, 2025.

The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is assisting with this ongoing investigation.

Attempted Murder – Names Released

(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid attempted murder charges in connection with an incident in Alfred-Plantagenet Township.

The serious assault happened on January 23, 2023, at a home on Plantagenet Concession Road 9. The 37-year-old male victim was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries but has since recovered.

Two males fled the scene before police arrived.

Today, January 23, 2025, as a result of the investigation by the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), two people were arrested with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit and Emergency Response Unit.

Marcus BOODOO, age 39 and Zubair SYED, age 37, both residents of Ottawa have been charged with attempt to commit murder, section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused remain in custody with bail hearings scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal later today, January 23, 2025.

Violent Home Invasion – Suspects At Large

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a home invasion which left one person with serious injuries.

The incident took place on January 21, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Pembroke Street West in Pembroke. Three men broke into the home and the victim was assaulted with blunt objects. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to an Ottawa-area trauma centre with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. It is believed this was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the general public.

Police are seeking assistance from the public to help identity three persons of interest. One individual was wearing light blue pants, a plaid hooded jacket, and carrying a black and yellow tool bag. A second individual was wearing a black hoodie and a tan vest. The third person was wearing black pants, a black hoodie and carrying a black and grey Champion brand backpack. All three individuals were wearing ski masks.        

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Renfrew County Crime Unit. Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 72 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on January 21, 2025 to 5:00 am on January 22, 2025.

Vehicle struck cow

On the 21st of January at 5:05am, Belleville Police attended a collision between a pick-up truck and a cow on Scuttlehole Rd.  The cow died upon impact however the driver was not injured as a result of the collision.  The owner of the cow was notified and the pickup truck was towed from the scene. 

Stolen vehicle leads to arrests

On the 21st of January at 2:18pm, while on patrol in the city’s west end, an officer received a notification of a stolen vehicle while using the Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR). The vehicle was stopped and the two occupants from Hamilton were arrested. Tara Farrel, 31-years-old was charged with one count of possession of stolen property and released on an Undertaking with a court date in February.  The 34-year-old male driver was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon, and two counts of fail to comply with probation.  He was held for a bail hearing.

High School Violence 

Two St. Thomas teens have been charged after police were called to investigate an incident that occurred at a local high school, last week. Through investigation, police learned the victim had sustained minor injuries after an altercation with the two teens following their gym class. As a result, a 15 year old St. Thomas resident and a 14 year old St. Thomas resident have both been charged with one count of Assault. ST25001146

Intimate Partner Violence 

A 25 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, police were called to the 300 block of Talbot Street to investigate the report of an assault that had occurred. Through investigation, officers learned a verbal argument between a couple had escalated and turned physical. The victim had sustained minor injury and was transported to the hospital by EMS for medical treatment. As a result, the 25 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Assault and one count of Failure to Comply with Undertaking. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Through further investigation, officers learned of previous assault that had occurred between the victim and the accused, where injury was also sustained. The 25 year old was additionally charged with 3 counts of Failure to Comply with Undertaking, Utter Threats to Cause Death and Assault Cause Bodily Harm. They were processed on all charges and held for a morning court appearance. ST25001221

A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, police were called to an address on the southside of the city after receiving information of a heated argument occurring outside of a residence. Upon arrival, officers learned a verbal argument between a couple had escalated and turned physical, resulting in the accused punching the victim several times and brandishing a knife during the altercation. The victim sustained minor injuries. As a result, the 30 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released with a future court date. Warrant Arrest 

A 32 year old Woodstock resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, STPS were notified by the OPP in Tillsonburg that they had the individual in custody on the strength of our outstanding warrant for Assault and Failure to Comply. Officers attended Tillsonburg and took custody of the individual who was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25001235

A 32 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, officers at the Elgin County Courthouse were dealing with the individual on an unrelated matter when they became aware of an outstanding warrant for Theft and Fraud stemming from separate incidents in November and January. The 32 year old was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25001205

Mischief 

A 46 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested after being identified as the individual responsible for stealing property from the door of an apartment and causing damage to the door. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, police were called to investigate the incident that occurred earlier that morning. Through investigation and review of available video, the 46 year old was identified and charged with one count of Mischief and one count of Theft under $5,000. Police located the 46 year old and transported them to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25001199

Fatal Pedestrian Collision

The Windsor Police Service is investigating a motor vehicle collision that left one pedestrian dead.

At approximately 5 p.m. on January 21, 2025, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Twin Oaks Drive and Munich Court following a report of a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. An initial investigation determined that a 47-year-old woman attempted to cross Twin Oaks Drive on foot and was struck by a passing pickup truck.

The victim was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The area was closed for several hours while members of the Windsor Police Collision Reconstruction and Forensic Identification Units processed the scene.

Shooting Caught On Video

Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are appealing for witnesses and searching for a suspect after a woman was shot outside her home in the City of Markham.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Lee Avenue and Noble Street. When they arrived, they located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injures.

Video recovered from the area shows the suspect arrived in a dark-coloured, Audi A4 sedan. The suspect is described as male, Asian, skinny build, wearing a high-visibility vest, construction helmet, a dark-coloured hooded sweater, black pants and a medical mask.

The victim exited her home to speak with the suspect and as she was returning to her residence the suspect shot her.

Investigators believe the incident is targeted and are appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Additionally, officers are seeking surveillance video or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the shooting.

Shots Fired During Robbery – 3 Sent To Hospital

Brantford police are actively investigating a robbery and shooting that has injured three people and are advising the public that there is currently a heavy police presence in the downtown core as the investigation continues.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025, police responded to a report of a robbery in progress, where two victims had been shot and a third victim assaulted. The incident occurred in the area of Colborne Street and Alfred Street.

Officers responded and located three victims who sustained serious injuries. The victims have been transported to hospital for treatment and are in stable condition at the time of this report.

One male suspect was quickly located by officers and is now in police custody. 

Officers are actively searching the area for the outstanding suspect(s) and ask the public to stay away from the immediate area unless absolutely necessary. BPS K9 Unit is assisting in the search. Additional suspect information is not available at this time.

As it is early in the investigation, more information will be released once available.

The arrested person was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters, where he was released with conditions and a court date of March 03, 2025.
