Jonathan BANMAN Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into an incident related to stolen property.

At approximately 3:50 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a theft on Lakeshore Road in South Walsingham, Norfolk County.

It was determined that multiple backpacks on the premises had been stolen. The backpacks contained wallets with Canadian currency and bank cards, along with passports and various other items.

Responding officers located an individual on the premises who was found to have a stolen bank card in their possession.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 19-year-old Jonathan BANMAN of Tilbury, Ontario:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

David Baynton Was Arrested

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On April 22, 2024, at 6:52 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report that a credit card was stolen out of a vehicle on Main Street East in Dundalk.

Police spoke with the victim who advised that the credit card was stolen out of the vehicle and used in multiple locations to purchase items. The police were able to obtain video surveillance from businesses that the card was used at.

Police have arrested and charged 54-year-old David Baynton of Southgate with to following offences:

·      Possession property obtained by crime under $5000

·      Use credit card data

The accused was released and to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 23, 2024.

AI & Spike Belt Used to Nab One From China Attempting To Flee

(ARCHIPELAGO, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences after a traffic stop on Highway 69 in Archipelago Township.

On April 6, 2024, just before 1:00 p.m. officers conducting general patrol on Highway 69 received an alert from the Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) regarding a stolen vehicle. Officers confirmed the vehicle was stolen from York Region and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for police and officers deployed a Tire Deflation Device also known as a spike belt to safely bring the vehicle to a stop.  

As a result of the investigation Pu ZHANG 32-year-old from China was arrested and charged with: 

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on April 10, 2024.

Pascal GAGNON Arrested

(WAWA, ON) – An individual from Wawa is facing criminal charges after their involvement in a stolen property investigation.

On April 3, 2024, shortly before 2:00 p.m., the Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit, along with members of the Superior East OPP Detachment, executed a search warrant at a residence on Churchill Avenue in Wawa. During the search, officers located two items that had been reported stolen by their owner.

As a result, 48-year-old Pascal GAGNON, of Wawa, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 6, 2024 in Wawa.

The Superior East OPP was assisted by the North East Region OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau.

Repeat Offender Bryan YOUNG Arrested Again

(WAWA, ON) – A traffic stop has resulted in multiple charges for one individual. On March 29, 2024, shortly before 9:00 a.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was conducting general patrol on Highway 17 near Wawa, when their Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them to a licence plate that had been reported stolen.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, where investigation confirmed the licence plates were stolen, and did not belong to the stopped vehicle. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was also reported stolen. The driver was also found to be driving with a suspended licence. 

As a result, Bryan YOUNG, 36 years-of-age, of Mississauga was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 6, 2024 in Wawa.

3 Arrested After Running From Police

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – As a result of a call for service involving a theft from a gas bar in Wellington County, three individuals have been arrested and charged.

On April 1, 2023, members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were advised by Wellington OPP of a motor vehicle that fled from a theft at a gas bar on Wellington Road 109.

Police located the vehicle in Caledon in where three suspects fled on foot. Ultimately all three parties were located in this joint police effort.

Kulwant Singh BAJWA, a 26-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

·      Obstruct Peach Officer

·      Possession Break In Instruments

Ramanjot Singh DHILLON, a 23-year-old from Windsor has been charged with:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Surinder Sidhu SINGH, a 25-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

·     Possession Break In Instruments

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

As a result of the investigation the following was recovered:

·      Black Hyundai Elantra

The accused individuals are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, to answer to the charges.

Police Cruiser Involved In Hit & Run – Details Released

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Stolen vehicle located in Southwest Middlesex strikes cruiser as it flees the scene.

On April 1, 2024, at 8:01 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol observed a stolen vehicle parked at a business on Longwoods Road in Wardsville, Southwest Middlesex.

The officer blocked the vehicle with the cruiser, however, was struck as the suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

Due to public safety concerns, the officer did not engage in a pursuing the vehicle.

The officer was not injured and the cruiser sustained minimal damage.

A suspicious person was observed by police a short time later in the area, at which time, investigation revealed they had previously been a passenger in the vehicle.

As a result, Jamie LABRECHE, a 38-year-old of Windsor, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

·      Disobeying Order of Court

The accused was held for bail.

The vehicle, previously reported stolen out of Windsor, was located abandoned in the City of London.

The investigation is continuing.

12 & 13 Year Old Arrested After Traffic Stop

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Two young people have been arrested and charged after being stopped in a stolen vehicle.

On March 27, 2024, shortly before 2:30 a.m. members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

Once the vehicle came to a stop, two young people fled into the bush, but were shortly located and arrested by police.

As a result of the investigation, a12-year-old person and 13-year-old person, both from North Bay, were charged with, possession property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in May 2024, in North Bay.

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

$7,000 Drug Bust – GUILER

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) were involved in a drug investigation which led to the arrest of one individual.

On March 26, 2024, Officers seized approximately $7000 worth of Fentanyl and Cocaine, a cellular device, drug paraphernalia and $1855 in Canadian Currency.

Richard GUILER, 49 years old of Hastings Highlands, Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Cocaine and

·        Possession property obtained by Crime Under $5000

GUILER was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 27, 2024.

Numerous Firearms Charges For Miguel OLSZEWSKI

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) were involved in a drug investigation which led to the arrest of two individuals.

On March 26, 2024, Officers seized approximately $6500 worth of Fentanyl, a cellular device and approximately $5000 in Canadian Currency, as a result of an investigation that had been ongoing since early March, officers located and arrested an individual who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Miguel OLSZEWSKI, 26 years old of Bancroft, Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition order- three counts

·        Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo- two counts

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm- two counts

·        Unauthorized possession of a firearm- three counts

·        Fail to comply with Probation order- three counts

·        Careless use of a firearm

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl

·        Possession property obtained by Crime Under $5000

OLSZEWSKI was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 27, 2024.

Jill PRICE, 41 years old of Bancroft, Ontario, has been charged with Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm. PRICE will be attending a bail hearing on a later date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, Ontario.

$200,000 In Stolen Tools Recovered – Andrew HAUSMAN Arrested

A male is in custody following an investigation into numerous thefts from construction sites between February and March of 2024.

Between February and March of 2024, the suspect was observed entering construction and new development sites, stealing various construction tools. The suspect listed the stolen items on Facebook Marketplace in an attempt to sell them.

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, members of the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch, with the assistance of West Division officers, took the suspect into custody without incident. A search warrant was also executed at the suspect’s storage unit. Approximately $200,000 worth of stolen power tools, site generators, and industrial equipment were located.

Andrew HAUSMAN, age 34 from Scarborough is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x2, and Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime x2.

He was released on an Undertaking.

$20,000 In Stolen Property Recovered From Southgate “Business”

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On February 10th, 2024, at 9:48 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a stolen Case International Combine “header” valued at over $20,000 in the Township of Southgate.

Kevin Innis, 40 years of age from Melancthon was charged with the following:

·      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Fail to apply for permit on becoming an owner

On March 25, 2024, the Grey Bruce and Dufferin County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) received a tip from the public on the location of the Case International Combine “header”. The Grey Bruce and Dufferin County CSCU attended a business on 260 Sideroad in Melacthon. The Grey Bruce and Dufferin County CSCU seized the Case International Combine “header” and return it to the owner.

Kristopher HALL Arrested

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – A Laurentian Hills resident is facing fraud-related charges after a criminal investigation was launched in December 2022.

The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating after a Laurentian Valley Township resident reported fraudulent activity by a contractor hired to complete work at their home. A second victim from the Township of Laurentian Hills (TLH) came forward in March of 2023. Both victims paid deposits for electrical work that was never performed.  

On March 20, 2024, police arrested 46-year-old Kristopher HALL of TLH and charged him with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Fraud under $5000 – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – two counts
  • Obtaining by false pretence

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 16, 2024.

Drug Bust – JEWELL & MOWATT

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On March 20, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Dugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence on Chalmers Crescent in Elliot Lake.

As a result of the warrant being executed, approximately 386 grams of suspected cocaine (approximate street value $17,000), digital scales, packaging material (dime bags), approximately $1700 in cash, and four cell phones were seized. 

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine, East Algoma Crime Unit, and uniform members were involved with the investigation.         

Emmanuel JEWELL, 42-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

Jeffrey MOWATT, 52-years-old, of Toronto was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 9, 2024.

3 Criminals Caught On Camera – TRUDEL, HINES & KALU

(BLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the OPP have arrested and charged three people with break and enter as well as multiple other offences.

On March 17, 2024, officers were called to a seasonal cottage after the owner observed people breaking into his cottage on security cameras. The owner of the cottage also called nearby neighbours who attended the cottage and prevented two suspects from leaving until police arrived. A third suspect fled on foot but was located nearby a short time later.   

As a result of the investigation three people were arrested:

Derrick TRUDEL, a 32-year-old person from North Bay was charged with:

  • Break and enter into a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Disguise with intent
  • Failure to comply with release order – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Mischief under $5,000

Brandon HINES, a 29-years-old person from North Bay was charged with:

  • Break and enter into a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Mischief under $5,000  

Ugo KALU, a 37-years-old person from Sturgeon Falls was charged with, break and enter into a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence.

All three accused were held for bail and remanded into custody. Derrick TRUDEL and Ugo KALU are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 20, 2024. Brandon HINES is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 21, 2024.
