48 Year Old Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver as a result of a traffic stop.

On April 23, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP conducted a traffic stop on Concession 10 Greenock in the Municipality of Brockton. At approximately 8:58 p.m., police stopped a vehicle and the driver showed signs of impairment. The investigating officer administered a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test, registering a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Kent Reay, 48-years-old, from the Municipality of South Bruce was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

31 Year Old From Owen Sound Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested an impaired driver.

On April 21, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle parked in a live lane of traffic on Bruce County Road 19. At approximately 3:21 a.m., police located a vehicle parked in the live lane. The driver showed signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Neal Korchak, 31-years-old, from the City of Owen Sound was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

OPP Claim Driver Impaired By Drugs, Then Charge For Failure To Provide Sample

(BROCKTON, ON) – On April 18, 2024, at 7:11 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 9 near Bruce Road 3 in Brockton.

One of the involved drivers displayed signs of impairment. Officers believed that the driver was impaired by drug; they were subsequently placed under arrest.

Cheyenne FORTUNE, 31-years-old, from the Municipality of Brockton was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

Repeat Offender Arrested Again In Walkerton

(BROCKTON, ON) – On April 10, 2024, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a compliance check in the Town of Walkerton for an individual out on release for other criminal matters.

Police discovered them to be breaching the conditions of their release order. They were subsequently taken into custody without issue.

As a result of the investigation, Birgit RAPELJE, 55-years-old, was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order (two counts)

The accused appeared by video at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on April 11, 2024 where they were remanded into custody. A subsequent court appearance has been scheduled for April 12, 2024 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton.

Herbert VALERA Arrested For Drunk Driving

(BROCKTON, ON) – On April 3, 2024, at 8:32 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along Highway 9 in Brockton.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

6 Stolen Vehicles Recovered

(BROCKTON, ON) – On March 26, 2024, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) and the South Bruce OPP executed a search warrant at a residence along Concession 16 in Brockton.

As a result of the execution of the warrant, police recovered a number of stolen vehicles:

  • Ford F150 Raptor pick-up truck
  • Ford F150 XLT pick-up truck
  • Harley Davidson motorcycle
  • Arctic Cat 800 snowmobile
  • Ski Doo 800 snowmobile
  • Can Am Renegade 800 All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV)

The value of the recovered stolen property is estimated to be $143,000.

The investigation is continuing.
