Melisa SIMON-CARROLL – Assault With Weapon

(WEST NIPISSINGON) – Police charged one person after a report of a disturbance at a local arena.

On March 2, 2024, shortly before 1:30 p.m., Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a local arena on O’Hara Street, West Nipissing.

It was reported that after an earlier hockey game on that same day, a parent from an opposing team had assaulted another parent with a solid object in their hand. Minor injuries were reported by the victim.

As a result of the investigation, Melisa SIMON-CARROLL, 40-years-old, from Markstay-Warren, was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on April 4, 2024.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Scott Mackenzie Arrested

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – An individual was arrested and charged after a vehicle that was stolen from the Toronto Police Service area on March 1, 2024, was located in the City of Owen Sound.

On March 1, 2024, Toronto Police Service sent a “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) for a stolen white Ford Transit van to the police services in the area. On March 2, 2024, at 12:06 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed the stolen vehicle being driven in the City of Owen Sound. The Grey Bruce OPP attempted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle by activating their lights, but the stolen vehicle continued without stopping. The stolen vehicle finally stopped when a second OPP vehicle arrived.

Scott Mackenzie, 48-years-old of Thunder Bay was charged with:

·      Theft of motor vehicle

·      Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle

·      Flight from police

·      Driving while under suspension X2

·      Insecure load

·      Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 28, 2024.

Ashley HUDSON Arrested Again & Added To Hall Of Shame

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich area resident with two criminal charges following an investigation on February 22nd, 2024. 

Just before 10:00 a.m. on February 22nd, 2024, Huron County OPP officers were dispatched to an address on Huron Road in the Town of Goderich for a report of an assault involving two parties. Officers arrived shortly after and located the individuals involved in the incident. Investigators discovered that one person had assaulted the other with a metallic object causing minor injury to the victim. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP detachment for processing.

Ashley HUDSON, 33 years of age from no fixed address in the Goderich area has been charged with:

–      Assault with a Weapon,

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

4 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged four drivers with impaired operation related offences over the weekend.

On March 2, 2024, just before 1:30 a.m., officers from Dufferin OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot-check on Buena Vista Drive, in the Town of Mono. A driver entered the area and officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation.

Michael KOSZIWKA, a 35-year-old male, from Erin has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On March 2, 2024, just after 8:30 p.m., officers from Dufferin OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot-check on Tideman Drive, in the Town of Orangeville. A driver entered the area and officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation.

Christopher OSTERBERG, a 48-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

•      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

On March 2, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP conducted a traffic stop on CTY RD 109, in the Township of Amaranth. Officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation.

Quinton KEATS, a 47-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

On March 3, 2024, just after 1:30 a.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Mono-Amaranth Townline and Hughson Street, in the Township of Amaranth. Officers attended the scene and were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation.

Massimo DICECCO, a 29-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

Timothy GALLAGHER & James KUIACK Arrested

(KILLALOE, ON) – Police have charged two drivers with impaired criminal offences over the past week.

On February 28, 2024, just before 9:00 p.m., the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a passenger car on Smaglinski-Stoppa Parkway, in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

As part of the investigation, the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. As a result of the investigation, 61-year-old James KUIACK of Killaloe was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:

  • refusal to comply with breath demand.

The accused was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on March 13, 2024, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

On March 3, 2024, just after midnight, members the Killaloe Detachment conducted a RIDE check on Crimson Maple Road, in the Township of Bonnechere Valley. Police conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck at this location.

As part of the investigation, the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Timothy GALLAGHER of North Algona Wilberforce Township was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • impaired operation of a conveyance;
  • operating a conveyance while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 ml of blood; and,
  • careless storage of a firearm.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27, 2024, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The licence was seized and suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle towed and impounded.

Jeffery McKeachnie Arrested Following Collision

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver who crashed their vehicle into the ditch.

On March 2, 2024, at 1:27 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP were patrolling Highway 10 in Chatsworth Township when they located a vehicle in the ditch. While the officers were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment for further tests by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

Jeffery McKeachnie, 30-years-old of South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 21, 2024.

Road safety is a priority for the OPP and officers are trained in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE), giving them the skills to identify a driver who is impaired by a drug. Officers can also use Approved Drug Screening Equipment to enforce zero tolerance sanctions with young, novice and commercial drivers. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

Shannon CHURCHILL – Drunk Driving

(STRATHROY-CARADOC ON) – A Strathroy resident has been charged with Impaired Operation following a traffic stop in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc.

On March 2, 2024, at 7:04 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol on Calvert Drive in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, observed a suspicious vehicle at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Shannon CHURCHILL, a 53-year-old of Strathroy, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 29, 2024.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Yokithan JEYAKUMAR – Drunk Driving

(SUDBURY, ON) – A driver was charged with impaired driving after police conducted a traffic stop for speeding.

On March 2, 2024, shortly after 9:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 69, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the Sudbury OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Yokithan JEYAKUMAR, 29 years-of-age, from Sault Ste Marie, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 27, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

John SUTOR – Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – A Brant County resident is facing charges following a traffic stop in Burford, Ontario.

On March 3rd, 2024, at approximately 2:18 p.m., members of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducted general patrol when they observed a vehicle that was possibly involved in a traffic complaint from earlier in the day.

Upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle it was determined that the driver had consumed several alcoholic beverages prior to driving their vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

John SUTOR, 75-years-old of Brant County, has been charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)\

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on March 15, 2024.

Meth Bust – PARK, DUNCAN, FOSTER & VERNON

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On February 29, 2024, members of the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with the West Region Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit made a number of arrests following a drug trafficking investigation in the Municipality of North Perth.

Three people were arrested on Wallace Avenue North, and were found in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and hydromorphone, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia, cash, and brass knuckles.

With the assistance of the Brant-Oxford CSCU, Elgin-Middlesex CSCU, and West Region Regional Support Team, the Huron-Perth CSCU executed three Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants at two residences on Wallace Avenue North and Elm Avenue North, and at a storage unit on Fairlane Road, all in the Municipality of North Perth. As a result of the search warrants, another individual was arrested. Police seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone, oxycodone, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

The total estimated value of the drugs is approximately $15,000. The total estimated value of the seized property is $1200.

Shane PARK, 37, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (fentanyl and other opioid) (two counts)

–      Mischief – Interfere with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property – Under $5000

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

Tracey-Lynn DUNCAN, 38, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (fentanyl and other opioid) (two counts)

The accused parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Michael FOSTER, 38, of Wellington County, has been charged with:

–      Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford March 25, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Nikole VERNON, 38, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (fentanyl and other opioid) (three counts)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on April 22, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Dewan MULDER – Assault

(ESSEX, ON) – One individual was charged following an investigation into an assault in Harrow.

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, at approximately 7:12 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Essex Detachment investigated an assault at an address on Queen Street in the community of Harrow, Town of Essex.

It was determined that two individuals engaged in a confrontation on the premises, one male sustained an injury and was transported to a local hospital to be treated.

There was a heavy police presence in Harrow to locate the accused. At approximately 10:00 a.m., one individual was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, Dewan MULDER, 41-years-of age of Essex has been charged with:

  • Assault with A Weapon S.267 (a) CC
  • Assault S.266 CC

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Windsor.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested four drivers over the weekend with alcohol related driving offences.

On February 29, 2024, at approximately 9:05 p.m., Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 3 in the Town of Tecumseh. Once on scene officers check on the sobriety of the driver due to observations.  

As a result, Craig HUTCHINS, 40 years-of-age, of Leamington, has been charged with:

·                Operation while impaired – alcohol

·                Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on March 6, 2024, to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

On March 2, 2024, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Officers responded to a complaint of a single vehicle driving erratically. Officers located the vehicle on County Road 13 in the Town of Essex.

Upon speaking to the driver, the officer observed signs of alcohol consumption. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

As a result, Paul GEORGE, 73 years-of-age, of Essex, has been charged with:

·                Operation while impaired – alcohol

·                Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on March 21, 2024, to answer to the charge.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

As a result, Jayci WIGLE, 25 years-of-age, of Kingsville, has been charged with:

·                Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on March 2, 2024, to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

On March 2, 2024, at approximately 11:12 p.m., Officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on County Road 42 in the Town of Tecumseh.

The investigating officer located the vehicle and upon conducting a traffic stop, suspected the driver had consumed alcohol and demanded a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest, and taken into custody.

Dave ZIMMERMAN, 62 years-of-age, of Windsor, has been charged with:

·                Operation while impaired – alcohol

·                Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on March 15, 2024, to answer to the charge.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Liza MOONIAS Arrested For Refusing To Blow

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On March 3rd, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., members of the North West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) Team initiated a traffic stop on a passenger pick-up truck travelling at a high rate of speed along Highway 11/17 near Highway 527.

Through the investigation, the driver was subsequently placed under arrest after refusing to provide subsequent breath samples into an approved screening device (ASD).

As a result, Liza MOONIAS, 44-years-old, of Marten Falls First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on March 29th, 2024.

Carl BURGER Passed Out Behind Wheel Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On March 2, 2024, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a driver passed out on Highway 108 in Elliot Lake.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. police were on general patrol when they observed a parked small orange car and the driver passed out. The driver was awoken and displayed obvious signs of drug impairment. They were subsequently arrested and police seized suspected Cocaine, Fentanyl, a digital scale, clear plastic baggies, cell phones, and cash. The vehicle was towed and impounded. 

Carl BURGER, 57-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 11, 2024.

Michelle DAVIS – Theft & Assault

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On March 1, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a grocery store on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.

The complainant reported that a female had items in her possession and departed the store without paying for them. A store employee confronted the female regarding the theft and was subsequently assaulted. Police attended and arrested the female.    

Michelle DAVIS, 49-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 – shoplifting
  • Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 11, 2024.
