Stephane WATHIER Was Arrested

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has charged a Hawkesbury resident with drug trafficking.

Street Crime Unit members, assisted by members of the Hawkesbury Detachment, executed a search warrant on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at a residence on James Street in Hawkesbury. They seized more than 450 suspected methamphetamine pills, nearly eight grams of suspected cocaine and several hydromorphone tablets, as well as items typically associated with drug trafficking

One person was arrested at the scene.

Stephane WATHIER, age 56 of Hawkesbury, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime-under $5000

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on December 4, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged 2 males for several drug related offences in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On November 14, at approximately 10:00 p.m. members of the Nottawasaga OPP, conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle with an obstructed rear plate on Young Street.

The investigation revealed that two individuals, Darryl BERDAN 40 years old from Alliston, and Jason HOFFARTH, 41 years old from Alliston were in possession of a schedule 1 substance.

As a result of this investigation, both residents from Alliston are facing the following charges contrary to the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Darryl BERDAN 40-years-old:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 3 counts

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Jason HOFFARTH, 41-years-old:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine

Both accused parties were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on November 14, 2024, and released on a release order.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(EMBRUN, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has arrested two people for drug trafficking in Embrun.

Street Crime Unit members, assisted by members of the Russell County Detachment, executed a search warrant on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at a residence on Notre Dame Street. They seized approximately 120 suspected methamphetamine pills and over a gram of suspected cocaine, as well as items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Two people were arrested at the scene.

Julie GOYETTE, age 50 of Ottawa is charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking. This accused was turned over to Hawkesbury OPP and another police service on unrelated matters.

Madeleine ETHIER, age 57 of Russell Township, has been charge with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking. This accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on December 4, 2024.

Ashley JACKO-METANSININE Facing Numerous Charges

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for impaired operation and drug related charges following a traffic complaint on Highway 17 near Nairn Centre.

On November 9, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint involving a pickup truck on Highway 17 near Nairn Centre.

Police located the pickup truck on Jacklin Road in the Town of Espanola and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and the driver was transported to the McKerrow detachment for further testing.

Additionally, officers located over 660 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $66,000, and three suspected oxycodone pills with an estimated street value of $45.

As a result, the driver, Ashley JACKO-METANSININE, 30-years-old from Wikwemikong, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroine)

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

·      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

·      Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates

·      Drive motor vehicle, no permit

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

Ashley JACKO-METANSININE appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on November 10, 2024, and was remanded into custody.

Darren OWL Facing Numerous Charges

(ESPANOLA, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) has resulted in one male being charged with impaired operation and drug related charges.

On November 6, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Lee Valley Road, Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. A pickup truck went through the RIDE and officers noticed the male driver to be exhibiting signs of impairment. Further investigation led to the male driver being arrested for driving while under suspension. The driver was transported to the McKerrow OPP detachment for further testing, which determined that he was impaired by drug.

Additionally, officers located over .5 grams of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $115, over 11 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $3,400, over 20 capsules of suspected psilocybin and over 41 grams of psilocybin mushrooms with an estimated street value of $600.

As a result, the driver, Darren OWL, 31-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin)

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

·      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Improper tires

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Operate unsafe vehicle

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on December 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ESPANOLA, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged two people with drug related offences following the execution of a drug warrant.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., OPP members from the North East Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the Canine Unit (K-9), executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant on a residence in Espanola.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of approximately .19 grams of suspected pink fentanyl with an estimated street value of $60, over 4.5 grams of suspected brown fentanyl with an estimated street value of $1,300, over 2.5 grams of suspected beige fentanyl with an estimated street value of $800.

As a result, Danette BRANDOW, 39-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin)

Additionally, Simon BEAUCHAMP, 31-years-old from Mckerrow, was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Failure to comply with probation order

Both accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on November 5, 2024. Simon BEAUCHAMP was remanded into custody.

Drug & Weapons Bust – Names Released

(BRAMPTON, ON) – A drug trafficking investigation with ties to the Niagara Region and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has resulted in the arrest of two individuals for numerous charges under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), as well as the seizure of controlled substances and five firearms.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG), and the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) began this investigation in April 2024 as a result of drug trafficking activity within the Niagara Region. Investigators were able to identify a drug trafficking network that stemmed into the GTA, responsible for trafficking suspected cocaine and fentanyl as well as other illegal drugs.

On October 23, 2024, four search warrants were executed in Brampton by members from:

·      OPP PGNG

·      OPP-led Biker Enforcement Unit

·      OPP-led Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit

·      OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit

·      OPP Canine

·      OPP uniform members

·      NRPS

As a result of this investigation, the following was seized:

·      Four handguns

·      One shotgun

·      Approximately 2.7 kilograms of suspected fentanyl

·      Approximately 1.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine

·      Approximately 330 grams of suspected MDMA

·      Approximately 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine

·      113 suspected oxycodone tablets

·      50 suspected hydromorphone tablets

·      More than 845 rounds of ammunition

·      A prohibited magazine

·      More than $316,000 in Canadian currency

Michael NAVARRO, age 29 of Brampton, has been charged with the following 27 offences contrary to the CC and CDSA:

·      Firearms trafficking – three counts

·      Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized – two counts

·      Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

·      Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition – two counts

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – four counts

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – four counts

·      Fail to comply with prohibition order

·      Trafficking – fentanyl – six counts

·      Trafficking – cocaine – two counts

·      Possession – MDMA – two counts

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on November 21, 2024.

Kathy Ann SAMUELS, age 32 of Brampton, has been charged with the following two offences contrary to the CDSA:

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on December 5, 2024.

$200,000 Drug Bust – Daniel SMITH Charged

(BROCKTON, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized a large quantity of suspected cocaine as a result of a search warrant.

On November 6, 2024, members of the OPP West Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed search warrants at addresses in Dundalk and Clifford; the accused was taken into custody outside of Walkerton without incident. 

As a result of the investigation, police seized approximately 1.9 kilograms of suspected cocaine, $12,000 in Canadian Currency, and a motor vehicle. The combined estimated street value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $200,000.

Daniel SMITH, 32-years-old of Dundalk has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, 5(2) CDSA
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, 145(4)(a) CC (two counts)

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice on November 12, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(DESERONTO, ON) – A traffic stop on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory has resulted in drug trafficking charges against individuals from Napanee and Guelph.

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, Officers with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit were on patrol in Deseronto when they observed a suspicious vehicle.

The officers followed the vehicle to a gas station on the Tyendinaga Territory, approached the vehicle and subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the two people. A search of the car resulted in the seizure of more than 28-grams of suspected cocaine and over $3000 in cash. Officers, assisted by members of the Tyendinaga Police and the Lennox and Addington OPP, also recovered stolen property and items typically associated with drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Natinael TESFAGABIR, age 22 of Guelph has been charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
  • Failure to comply with a release order

This accused was held for a bail hearing.

Garry GALT, age 62 of Greater Napanee, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
  • Driving while under suspension

This accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 12. 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(MARATHON, ON) – Three individuals are facing drug trafficking charges after a search warrant was executed at a residence in the Town of Marathon.

On November 7, 2024, members from the Marathon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Marathon Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), and the OPP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at an address on Howe Street in the Town of Marathon.

Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and other offence-related items.

Joshua BEDARD, 40-years-old of Marathon, ON has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes

Jacques BEDARD, 64-years-old and Gertrude WALSH, 64-years-old, both of Marathon, ON have been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes

All three accused have been released from custody and will appearing on January 22, 2025 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Marathon to answer to the above charges.

Drug Bust

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the Sioux Lookout OPP Community Street Crime Unit, have arrested and charged one individual for drug trafficking offences in the municipality, and another for bail violations.

On Monday, November 4th, 2024, at approximately 5:00 pm, OPP officers were called to an apartment on Millar Crescent for a report of suspicious persons. Multiple unauthorized individuals were removed from the residence, and police investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and Canadian currency.

Following investigation, Nihemi Yao Walker KOUADIO, 20 years old, from Ottawa, has been arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, and
  • Obstruct Peace Officer.

The accused was remanded into custody and will next appear in front of the Ontario Court of Justice Kenora Bail Court on November 8, 2024.

Jamie CHILDFOREVER, 37 years old, from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation was also removed from the residence, arrested and charged with two counts of failure to comply with a release order – other than to attend court.

Following a bail hearing, this accused was scheduled to appear in front of the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Ontario Court of Justice on November 7, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the Sioux Lookout OPP Community Street Crime Unit, have arrested and charged two individuals for drug trafficking offences in the Municipality.

On Monday, October 28th, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm, officers were called to a residence on Queen Street between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue North, for a report of suspicious persons. Multiple unauthorized individuals were removed from the home, and police investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit substances including cocaine and methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and Canadian currency.

Following investigation, two individuals have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking offences: 

Rikki Starr KEJICK, 40 years old, from Lac Seul First Nation, has been arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and
  • Fail to comply with probation order.

Natasha CHAPMAN, 30 years old, from Sioux Lookout, has been arrested and charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

After a bail court hearing, both accused have been scheduled to appear in front of the Sioux Lookout Ontario Court of Justice on November 26, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ATIKAMEKSHENG FIRST NATION, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged four people with drug related offences after the execution of a drug warrant.

On November 1, 2024, OPP members from the North East Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Canine Unit (K-9), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Lakeshore Drive, Atikameksheng First Nation.

A search of the residence led to the seizure of a rifle, cellular phones, Canadian currency, and drugs suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of over $11,000. 

As a result of the investigation, four people were arrested and charged:

Lawrence SHAWBONQUIT, 28-years-of-age, from Atikameksheng First Nation, was charged with:

  • Trafficking in schedule I substance
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Breach of firearms regulation-store firearm or restricted weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

Heather SAWDON, 50-years-of-age, from Atikameksheng First Nation, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Trafficking in schedule I substance
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000

Alijah ADAMS, 22-years-of-age from Newmarket and Noah CARGILL, 21-years-of-age, from Kitchener, were both charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000

All the accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 18, 2024, in Sudbury.

Shane RIOPELLE – Theft, Trafficking

(NORTH GRENVILLE, ON) -Thefts of rental trailers in North Grenville and Smiths Falls have led to drug trafficking charges against a resident of Gatineau.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit had begun investigating the theft of utility trailers in the area on October 21 and 25. These were connected to thefts of similar trailers October 27 and 28 in Smiths Falls.

Working with the Smiths Falls Police Service and Gatineau Police, a suspect was identified, and on October 29, 2024, the OPP Street Crime Unit made an arrest at a location on Rideau Street in Ottawa.

Officers seized nearly 30-grams of suspected fentanyl and almost two grams of suspected crack cocaine.

Shane RIOPELLE, age 43 of Gatineau, has been charge with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Theft over $5000

The accused was released from OPP custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on November 15, 2024.

The individual was then turned over to the custody of Smiths Falls Police and was held for a bail hearing.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PICTON, ON) – The East Region Community Street Crime Unit has arrested and charged two individuals after executing a search warrant in Picton yesterday.

On October 31, 2024 a search warrant was executed on Old Milford Road. As a result of the warrant, officers seized nine firearms and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Adam MCCONNELL, age 35 and Alisha ZACHARIAH, age 36, both from Prince Edward County were charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – nine counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – nine counts

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 1, 2024.
