Serveral Arrested At RIDE

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested numerous people after a Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (RIDE) on Highway 108 in Elliot Lake.

On December 3, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police stopped a red Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and observed the passenger consuming an alcoholic beverage. After further investigation and a subsequent search of the vehicle, police located a tightly tied black garbage bag containing a vacuum sealed clear bag of Canadian currency. The cash was bundled in separate large quantities and bound with elastic bands. One back seat occupant was also wanted, stemming from a previous weapons occurrence in Elliot Lake. After occupants were caught attempting to dispose of suspected cocaine and Fentanyl, all were arrested and charged.  

Ian OTTAWAY, 49-years-old, of Etobicoke was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

·      Assault

·      Assault with a weapon

·      Forcible confinement

·      Utter threats – cause death or bodily harm

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Cout in Sault Ste. Marie on December 12, 2024.

Brian CLARKE, 51-years-old, of Etobicoke was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

Cindy HENDERSON, 50-years-old, of Etobicoke was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

Steven LAHAY, 23-years-old, of Etobicoke was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

These accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 13, 2025.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into a drug trafficking investigation following an interaction at a RIDE program.

Officers were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 35 near Golf Course Road on December 2nd, 2024 at approximately 2:35 am when a motor vehicle entered the RIDE stop and following an interaction with the driver and four occupants the officers entered into a drug trafficking investigation.  Through investigation the driver and all four passengers were arrested and charged with Criminal Code, Controlled Drug and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Liquor License Act offences.

Jamie Adams, 34-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle

Ronnie Escott, 30-year-old of Lindsay was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Ashley Johnson, 39-year-old of Lindsay was charged with:

Joshua Nunez Facing Numerous Charges

(Collingwood, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a driver of a stolen vehicle and charged the male with numerous offences in the Town of Collingwood.

On November 29, 2024 just after 12:00 p.m. members of Collingwood OPP were conducting general patrol in the area of Cameron Street in the Town of Collingwood. At which time the driver of an Acura TXT was stopped for Highway Traffic Act violations. Shortly thereafter officers began a stolen motor vehicle investigation upon determining that the VIN (vehicle identification number) had been altered, effectively hiding the vehicle’s identity and the fact that it was stolen.

Joshua Nunez, a 26-year-old of Mississauga was charged with:

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (2 counts)

·      Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine)

·      Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Drive with window coated – view obstructed

·      Drive motor vehicle, no vehicle identification number

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood at a future date.

4 Arrested In Drug Bust

(ALLISTON, ON.) – On November 29th, at approximately 2:22 p.m., members of the of Nottawasaga Detachment Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) charged 4 individuals in relation to several drug related offences after a traffic stop, in the Town of New Tecumseth.

Officers from CRU conducted a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle with an obstructed rear plate, South Bound on 8th Ave. The driver was identified and known to police as a suspended driver. The driver was arrested for this offence and searched incident to arrest.

While officers on scene continued their investigation, they were engaged with 3 other occupants in the vehicle. While identifying each occupant, the officers observed a zip lock baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The vehicle was seized as proceeds of crime and upon completion of the investigation, officers seized the suspected cocaine, $1,605 in cash, and 2 cellphones as evidence to the offence of trafficking.

All parties were arrested and charged with the following:

Darryl Berdan 40-years-old of Alliston:

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order -3 counts
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Obstruct plate
  • Driving while under suspension

The male party was held for a bail hearing and is to re-appear in court December 2nd .

Joline Stewart 41-years-old of Adjala-Tosorontio:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
  • Trafficking in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

Released on Form 10 with a future court date of January 2nd, 2024

Vernon JACKSON – $51,000 Drug Bust

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – Police were on general patrol in Oxford County when they initiated a traffic stop which resulted in numerous drug related charges.

On November 27, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol in the Town of Ingersoll when they initiated a traffic stop on Culloden Road.

Upon further investigation, with the assistance of Oxford, Brant, Middlesex and Elgin Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) along with West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), police arrested and charged Vernon JACKSON, a 66-year-old resident of South-West Oxford with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Over 30g Dried Cannabis in a Public Place
  • Possession of Illicit Cannabis
  • Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

The combined estimated street value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $51000.

The accused was remanded into custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, located in Woodstock, on a later date.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PRESCOTT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has arrested two people for drug possession in Prescott.

A drug trafficking investigation began in the fall of 2024.

On Thursday, November 28, 2024, Street Crime Unit members, assisted by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Park Street East.

They seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine and items typically associated with drug trafficking. Four people were taken into custody at the scene.

Joshua MACKINNON, and Leah SERSON, both age 39 off Prescott, have been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance.

Both of these accused were release from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on December 13, 2024.

One individual was arrested on behalf of the Brockville Police Service for an outstanding warrant and released with a court date. Another was released unconditionally.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ARCHIPELAGO, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people with drug related offences after a traffic stop on Highway 69 in Archipelago Township.

On November 9, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m. officers stopped the vehicle for stunt driving. The vehicle fled from police and was later located in the Town of Parry Sound. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating over $36,000 of Canadian currency and suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of approximately $11,000. 

Nathaneel PEARSON, 27-years-old from Toronto was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited – three counts
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Possession of schedule 1 substance – cocaine
  • Possession of schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Use plates not authorized for vehicle

Quiara JOSEPH, 24-years-old from Hamilton was arrested and charged with:

The accused persons were held for bail and will be returning before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 5, 2024.

Million Dollar Drug Bust – Names Released

(KENORA, ON) – Two out-of-province individuals are facing numerous drug and firearm-related charges after a search warrant was executed in Kenora.

In October 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) began an investigation into the trafficking of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, hydromorphone and cocaine in Kenora and the surrounding area. Following an arrest, on November 19, 2024, OPP OCEB, Kenora OPP Community Street Crime Unit and Treaty Three Police Street Crime executed a search warrant in Pellatt Township at a residence rented on a short-term basis by one of the accused.

As a result of this investigation, officers seized:

·      approximately 962 grams of suspected fentanyl

·      approximately 1.2 kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine

·      approximately 287 grams of suspected cocaine

·      approximately 968 hydromorphone tablets (8 mg)

·      approximately 3 grams of crack cocaine

·      one rifle

·      two digital scales

·      two cellular devices

·      $4,060 in Canadian currency

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $1,072,000.

Dawson CAMERON, age 25 of Edmonton, Alberta, and Megan DENT, age 20 of Westbank, British Columbia, have each been charged with the following seven offences under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):

·      Possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·      Careless storage of a firearm

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – hydromorphone

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – crystal methamphetamine

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

Both accused were remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on November 21, 2024.

Drug bust – Anthony HARRISON Arrested

(ENGLEHART, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with drug related offences.

On November 22, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., OPP responded to a trespassing incident on First Street in Englehart. The Investigation led officers to arrest a person who was found in possession of controlled substances.

Anthony HARRISON, 44-years-old from Englehart was charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of Schedule II Substance – other drugs

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on January 7, 2025.

Mitchell PAQUIN Was Arrested

(MCDOUGALL, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with drug related offences.

On November 22, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m. officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation. The vehicle fled from police but was located a short time later, the driver was arrested while a passenger fled on foot.

Mitchell PAQUIN, 24-years-old from Baysville was arrested and charged with:

·        Possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid

·        Flight from a peace officer

·        Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt

·        Speeding

·        Having care and control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 19, 2024.

Several Arrested In Drug Bust

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On November 20, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Dugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence on Tokyo Crescent in Elliot Lake.

As a result of the warrant being executed, approximately 250 grams of suspected cocaine, almost 9 grams of suspected Fentanyl, approximately 10 Methamphetamine tablets, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, over $1600 in cash, digital scales, packaging materials, and numerous cell phones were seized. 

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, and uniform members were involved with the investigation.         

Michael MCNEELANDS, 42-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid

·      Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

·      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon

Krystal ROL, 35-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

This accused was held in custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on November 21, 2024.

Jade CYR, 26-years-old, of Elliot Lake had outstanding warrants for her arrest in relation to previous occurrences in East Algoma and Espanola. She was subsequently arrested and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on January 11, 2025.

Jennifer BRIDGES – Trafficking

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges after the execution of a warrant.

On November 20, 2024, officers from the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), executed a warrant at a location on County Road 25 in the Municipality of Trent Hills. As a result, a camper trailer which was stolen from Bancroft has been recovered. Also seized was approximately 16 grams of suspected Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $600.

Jennifer BRIDGES, 43-years-old, from the Municipality of Trent Hills, was arrested and charged with:

–       Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

–       Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Large Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – In the fall of 2024, City of Kawartha Lakes Community Street Crime Unit (CKL CSCU) and Kawartha Lakes Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit (KLPS DEU) conducted an investigation under the controlled drugs and substance act.

CKL CSCU and KLPS DEU collaborated and commenced Project PACE.

On November 19th 2024 at approximately 4:00p.m., CKL CSCU and KLPS DEU with the assistance of OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP K9 arrested five individuals during a traffic stop on Lindsay Street South in the Town of Lindsay.

As a result of the arrest, the following was seized:

  • 525.3 grams of Cocaine,
  • 28.9 gram of Crystal Methamphetamine
  • 26.5 grams of Fentanyl,
  • $1664.45 in Canadian Currency

The total street value is approximately $67,500

The following five, face a combined 15 CDSA charges and 4 Criminal Code charges.

Daniel Lavigne, 54-year-old from Lindsay was charged with;

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Schedule I – Fentanyl

Lyndsay Howard, 31-year-old from Lindsay was charged with;

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into a drug trafficking investigation following a traffic stop for speeding on November 18, 2024.

An officer on patrol observed a motor vehicle speeding southbound on Pigeon Lake Road at 2:45pm. A traffic stop was conducted where the officer entered into a drug possession investigation.  Through investigation the driver and two passengers were arrested and charged with Criminal Code, Cannabis Control Act and Highway Traffic Act offences.

Rhianna Whitman-Davis, 30-year-old of Peterborough, was charged with:

  • Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Tayler Hancock, 35-year-old of Peterborough was charged with:

Drug Bust @ RIDE

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Two people have been arrested and charged following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check, which led to the seizure of a large amount of cannabis.

On November 19, 2024, at approximately 12:45 a.m., The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Highway 6 near Espanola. A vehicle approached officers, and police noticed an odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle. Further investigation resulted in two people being arrested.

Additionally, officers located over 12kg of dried cannabis, with a street value of approximately $41,200, over 140 packages of cannabis gummies with a street value of approximately $5,800, 50 cannabis vape pen cartridges with a street value of approximately $2,000 and over 10g of suspected cocaine, with a street value of approximately $1,000, and Canadian currency.

As a result, the driver, Edward SMAGALA, 58-years-old from Annan, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The passenger, Hao Dong LIANG, 33-years-old from Markham, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Both accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on November 19, 2024.
