Cole MCLEAN – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after police respond to a complaint of a driver sleeping behind the wheel at an intersection.

On December 31, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), received a complaint from another motorist advising of a driver sleeping behind the wheel at an intersection, on Development Road in Harley Township. Shortly after, OPP located and stopped the vehicle on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores. The driver was arrested for impaired and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

Cole MCLEAN, 21 years-of-age, from New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2025.

15 Year Old Pedestrian Killed By Drinking Driver

(Sydenham, ON) – A pedestrian has been pronounced deceased after being struck by a vehicle on Rosedale Road, in South Frontenac Township.

Just after 5:30 pm on January 04, 2025, Frontenac OPP members, assisted by South Frontenac Fire Rescue, and Frontenac Paramedics responded to a vehicle collision that happened on Rosedale Road, which is just north of the village of Sydenham.

A commercial express van was traveling along the road and struck a pedestrian who was walking in the same direction. A 15-year-old male, from Kingston was pronounced deceased at the scene by Paramedics. A second pedestrian received minor injuries and was transported to hospital, because of this collision.  

The vehicle driver, a 57-year-old male from Harrowsmith, was located at the scene and spoke to investigators. Alcohol was detected by officers and breath testing was completed at the roadside. The driver registered in the warning range and received an administrative driver’s licence suspension, for a three-day period. The vehicle was towed from the scene for further examination.

The road was closed for several hours as the investigation continued with a Technical Collision Investigator (OPP), Reconstructionist (OPP) and the Chief Coroners office of Ontario.

Frontenac OPP is asking for public assistance in providing any witness information, dash camera footage, or doorbell camera views of the collision.

Dog Shot – Anthony ANGOY Wanted By Police #RepeatOffender

On Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 3:38 a.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a report of a shooting in Niagara Falls.

Officers attended a multi-unit residential apartment building on Jepson Street near Victoria Avenue. The Initial investigation determined that a male suspect attended a unit to visit the occupants. During the visit, a handgun was observed in the suspect’s waistband. As the suspect attempted to display the handgun it was discharged, striking a 1-year-old husky dog that was present. The suspect then fled from the scene on foot with the handgun. 

Responding officers observed the husky to be in medical distress and rushed her to an Emergency Veterinary Clinic in critical condition. The Niagara Regional Police Service K9 Unit attended the area and completed a search but did not locate the suspect.

The incident was assigned to 2 District Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) Detectives. As a result of the ongoing investigation Anthony ANGOY (26 years) of Thorold is wanted for the following Criminal Offences:

–          Careless Use of a Firearm

–          Possession of a Restricted Firearm Knowingly Not a License Holder

–          Possess Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

–          Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

–          Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

–          Fail to Comply with Probation Order

–          Possess Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order X 2

ANGOY is encouraged to contact legal counsel and make arrangements to surrender himself into police custody. ANGOY is considered to be armed and should not be approached. If anyone has information on his whereabouts, they should call 911 immediately.

Upon arrival at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic, immediate lifesaving efforts were initiated for the husky. Fortunately, the husky stabilized and was transferred to the Peoples Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The husky has since been referred to a veterinary clinic outside the region for continued medical treatment.

St. Thomas Police Daily Update – 04Jan2025

Robbery and arrest of Suspect:

On the 29th of December 2024 the St Thomas Police Service attended a south end residence for reports of a dispute between a homeowner and a male contractor – that allegedly left the homeowner pushed to the ground and a large quantity of cash stolen by the contractor. The homeowner then attempted to prevent the contractor from leaving in his vehicle and was left hanging from the vehicle for a short period as it left the scene. Incident ST2402336.

On Friday the 3rd of January 2025 the 45-year-old London resident was located and arrested on a traffic stop in London conducted by a joint effort between the St Thomas Police CIRT team members and the plain clothes Street Crime unit. The male party was transported back to the St Thomas Police Service charged with Robbery, Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and later released with a future court date and conditions. ST25000129.

Warrant arrest:

On Friday the 3rd of January a 31-year-old female turned herself in at the St Thomas Police Service on an outstanding warrant for breaching conditions of her GPS monitored bail plan. The St Thomas resident was arrest, held for court, and later released by the courts. Incident ST25000140.

Vehicle Entry/Theft:

On Friday afternoon a resident living on the north side of the city reported an entry to their vehicle overnight while parked unlocked in the laneway. A pair of sunglasses valued at over $200.00 was taken. Bail Violations:

The St Thomas Police Service have submitted a warrant application to arrest a 53-year-old female for breach of her court mandated bail conditions. The female had not been reporting to the Police station as per conditions of her release. Incident ST25000161.

Intimate Partner Violence:

On Friday afternoon St Thomas Police were contacted by a female resident who reported being assaulted by her partner. Through investigation Police learned that the female’s partner had assaulted her and pelted her with household items. She was not injured. A warrant is currently being sought for the 50-year-old male party- charged assault and assault with a weapon. Incident ST25000164.

R.I.D.E:

Overnight officers on general patrol conducted a R.I.D.E. program. St Thomas Police Service is happy to announce that no concerns for impairment were observed. A great start to the new year! Incident ST25000189.

Multiple Firearms, Drugs, and Cash Seized in Firearm Investigation

Region of Peel – Officers from the 11 Division Community Incident Response Team (CIRT) have charged two individuals with multiple firearms and drug related offences.

On Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, CIRT officers with the assistance of our Tactical Unit executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence in the area of Lakeshore Road and Hydro Road, in the City of Mississauga.

As a result of the search warrant, investigators seized two loaded firearms, one equipped with an extended magazine, and an auto sear. An auto sear allows a semi-automatic firearm to be converted into one capable of automatic firing with a single, continuous pull of the trigger. Additionally, a quantity of drugs along and a quantity of Canadian currency was seized.

Rain Dunham, a 25-year-old man from Mississauga, was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (X2)
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm (X2)                        
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device (X2)
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing Serial Number Removed/Altered/Defaced
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Proceeds of Crime
  • Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (X2)

Jayden Hurley, a 24-year-old man from Mississauga, who is currently on bail release for several violent offences, including unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm, aggravated assault, and discharge firearm with intent was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (X2)
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm (X2)                          
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device (X2)
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing Serial Number Removed/Altered/Defaced
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Proceeds of Crime
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (X2)    

Both individuals were held for bail hearings and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

“This investigation highlights our commitment to keeping our communities safe by removing dangerous and illegal firearms and drugs from the streets of Peel Region. We will continue to hold individuals accountable, and advocate for the necessary reforms to strengthen the bail system and put an end to this ongoing cycle of crime,” said Deputy Chief Marc Andrews, Peel Regional Police.

Portion Of HWY 10 Closed Due To Weather

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are advising the public that Highway 10 between Grey Road 4 in Flesherton and Grey Road 12 in Markdale is closed due to weather conditions and collisions.

The OPP is reminding motorists that if you do have to travel to pack an emergency kit including food, water, blankets and a cell phone charger. If you find yourself in the ditch, remain in your vehicle and call the police.

$250,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

In December of 2024, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Street Crime Detectives assigned to 3 District (Welland/Pelham) commenced an investigation into the distribution of Fentanyl from an address in Port Colborne.

On Thursday, January 2, 2025, detectives received judicial authorization to execute a search warrant on a property in the area of Welland Street and Louis Street in the City of Port Colborne. As a result of the investigation two suspects have been arrested and detectives recovered the following:

–          5.048 kilograms of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $252,400

–          13.9 grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $1390

–          602 suspected Oxycodone pills with an estimated street value of $1806

–          $55,220 in Canadian Currency

–          Glock 9 mm handgun with a loaded magazine containing 10 rounds of ammunition

–          Glock 40 calibre handgun with a loaded magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition

Jeffrey BOSTON (40 years) of Port Colborne has been arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

–          Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking

–          Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

–          Possession of Oxycodone for the Purpose of Trafficking

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 85 calls for service between 5:00 am on 2 January, 2025 to 5:00 am on 3 January, 2025.

Stunt driving

On 2 January, 2025, at 10:05pm, an officer on patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a very high rate of speed on Old Highway 2 near Old Kingston Road. The vehicle was clocked on radar travelling at 115km/h in the posted 60km/h zone. A 22-year-old Belleville male was charged with stunt driving. The male’s driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days. He will appear in court on 3 March, 2025 to answer the charge.

Mischief

On 25 December, 2024, between 10:00pm, and 12:00am, an unknown suspect in the area of Harder Drive and Deacon Place slashed the tires on 10 different vehicles. Police were able to obtain a picture of the suspect who is described as a younger male, wearing a rust brown jacket and blue jeans. Break and Enter

A 45-year-old female has been arrested for break and enter. On New Year’s Day, the female entered a residence in the west end of the city while the homeowner was taking a nap. While inside, the female stole the homeowner’s wallet. The female was arrested early in the morning on January 3rd and was later released with a future court date. ST25000034.

Shoplift

On December 30th, an unknown male attended a local grocery store and stole approximately $70 of food. The male left the store without making any attempt to pay and fled in a vehicle. Police are reviewing video in attempts to identify the suspect. ST25000054.

Warrants

A 46-year-old St. Thomas man turned himself in to police on January 2nd. The male was wanted on a first instance warrant for Assault, Utter Threats, and False Alarm of Fire. He was processed and later released on an Undertaking with conditions. ST25000057.

A 13-year-old youth has been arrested for assault. The youth was involved in a physical altercation that occurred at a public park in December. The youth was released on an Undertaking with conditions. ST25000100.

A 48-year-old St. Thomas female was arrested overnight on the strength of a bench warrant. The female failed to attend court after being charged with operating a motor vehicle while prohibited. The female was released with a future court date. ST25000118.

$120,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

Five people have been charged after police seized drugs and a loaded handgun following a search of a south side residence.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Task Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of Donald Street East on the afternoon of Thursday, January 2.

Police seized quantities of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, and fentanyl. The estimated street value of the seized drugs exceeds $120,000. Officers also seized a firearm, cash totalling more than $13,000 and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Michelle BENOIT, 39, of Thunder Bay; Delmar FLETCHER, 19, of Scarborough; Trevor HOFFMANN, 21, of Scarborough, a 17-year-old from Bradford, and a 15-year-old from Toronto are charged with the following:

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl)
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5,000
• Careless Storage of a Firearm
• Possession of Loaded Prohibited Firearm
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
• Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
• Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

BENOIT is also charged with Breach of Judicial Release Order. The 15-year-old is also charged with Possession of Prohibited Firearm Contrary to Order x2, Breach of Judicial Release Order, Breach of Peace Bond, and Breach of Probation x2. The 17-year-old is also charged with Breach of Peace Bond x2.

The accused appeared in court on Friday.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Wanted For Attempted Murder – DO NOT APPROACH: Andrew Joseph PITRE

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking a 33-year-old man wanted for Attempted Murder.

On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police were called to a motel in the area of Highway 11 and Canal Road, in the Township of King, for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 24-year-old male victim with gunshot injuries. He was transported to a trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. The suspect was not located at that time.

Andrew Joseph PITRE, 33, of the Township of King, is wanted for Attempted Murder and firearms-related offences. Police have been unable to locate him and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Investigators are releasing his image and appealing to the public for information on his whereabouts.

PITRE is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, citizens are urged not to approach him but to call police immediately.

The accused is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in.

Police Taser Woman In Distress – SIU “Investigating”

LONDON, ON (January 3, 2025) – At approximately 8 a.m. this morning, members of the London Police Service responded to a residence in the area of Langarth Street West and Winston Avenue in relation to checking the welfare of a woman.

Police located the female a short distance from the residence in distress and with a weapon.

A conducted energy weapon was deployed by officers, and the female was taken into custody.

The female was transported to hospital by paramedic services where her condition deteriorated.

The woman remains in hospital.

The Special Investigations Unit was notified and has invoked their mandate. As such, all inquiries regarding the investigation are to be directed to the Special Investigations Unit at 416-622-0748 or 1-800-787-8529.

Guelph Police Daily Update 03Jan2025

A Waterloo man has been arrested for attempting to rob a Guelph business and robbing a Brantford business nearly two years ago.

Shortly after noon June 19, 2023, three males in a stolen vehicle attended a business on Silvercreek Parkway North. They were wearing gloves, masks and sunglasses and carrying reusable shopping bags, but were unable to enter the business as the front doors were locked as a safety precaution.

Later that afternoon the males drove the same stolen vehicle to a Brantford business, where they brandished weapons and stole a large quantity of prescription medication.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, on Thursday Guelph Police arrested a 19-year-old Waterloo man who was 17 at the time of these incidents. He is charged with robbery, attempted robbery, possessing stolen property over $5,000 and several weapons offences. He will appear in court February 12.

The investigation is ongoing.

$2,700 in alcohol stolen

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after three people made off with $2,700 worth of alcohol from a business.

Just after 4 p.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to a business on Speedvale Avenue East. Staff reported two men and a woman had just left the store with more than 30 bottles of scotch and tequila.

The first suspect was described as a white male wearing a blue and black coat, hoodie and Blue Jays baseball cap. The second was described as a possibly white male wearing a grey coat with black fur trim on the hood and dark pants. The third was a white female with blonde hair wearing a red coat with black fur trim on the hood and dark pants.

Witnesses to collision sought

The Guelph Police Service is looking for witnesses after a hit and run collision Monday morning.

Just before 6:30 a.m. police were called to Woodlawn Road West and Arrow Road. A driver was attempting to turn onto Woodlawn Road when his vehicle was struck, pushing it into a third vehicle. No injuries were reported.

A red sedan with significant front-end damage fled the scene westbound on Woodlawn Road. Anyone who witnessed the collision or the damaged vehicle, or has dash camera footage of the area, is asked to call Constable Todd Weinstein of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Services Unit at 519-824-1212, ext. 7185, or email [email protected].

Males sought in $17k phone theft

The Guelph Police Service is trying to identify the males in the attached photo as we continue to investigate the theft of more than $17,000 in phones and smart watches.phone theft suspects

The morning of December 11, police were called to a business at Stone Road Mall after the manager arrived to find a drawer pried open and the devices missing. Surveillance video showed two males walking around the mall until after it had closed, then one entered the stand-alone business and removed the product. A crowbar was left behind.

The stolen devices were valued at $17,810.

It is believed the males in the attached photograph have information relevant to the investigation.

Anmol DHANOA Arrested Again

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in connection to a break and enter.

On January 3, 2025, shortly after 6:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a private residence in Bolton for a report of a break and enter in progress. Officers responded promptly and arrested the lone suspect while they were fleeing the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Anmol DHANOA, 29, of Brampton, was charged with:

  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Failure to comply with release order [x2]
  • Failure to comply with probation order [x2]

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.

Sean CHIBLOW Was Arrested

(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON)- Intoxicated person damages property. 

On January 2, 2025, at around 1:00 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report about an intoxicated individual who had left a residence on Shingwalk Street in Blind River and was reportedly heading to assault an unknown person.

Police located the intoxicated individual walking out of a driveway on East Street, within the Mississauga First Nation community. Officers arrested the individual and transported them to the Blind River detachment, where they were lodged until sober.

While at the detachment, police received a complaint about mischief in the area where the initial arrest took place. Upon investigation, they determined that the damages to items in the complainant’s front yard had been caused by the same person they had arrested earlier.

As a result, Sean CHIBLOW, 34 years-old from Mississauga First Nation was charged with: Mischief destroys and damages property (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 6, 2025.
