Joshua REDTMAN – Drunk Driving

(TEMAGAMI, ON) – A driver has been charged with impaired following a collision in North Bay.

On January 12, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Temagami Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a vehicle involved in a collision in North Bay on Highway 11 in Temagami.

Officers determined the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and they were transported to the detachment for further testing. As a result of the investigation, Joshua REDTMAN, 27 years of age, of Rockland Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on February 4, 2025.

Amy THOMAS – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On January 15, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6, north of Caledonia.

The investigation determined that a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation.

As a result, 44-year-old Amy THOMAS of Ohsweken has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Speeding

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Cayuga on February 25, 2025.

ARMSTRONG – Assault

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged one person following an altercation.

On January 13, 2025, shortly after 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in Hastings Highlands. One person was arrested at the scene.

Douglas ARMSTRONG, a 37-year-old from Hastings Highlands, has been charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was held for a bail hearing. The individual was later released by the courts with conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on February 4, 2025.

Meth Bust – Names Released

(Attawapiskat, ON) – Police arrested two suspects and seized suspected methamphetamine pills and crystal methamphetamine following the search of a home in Attawapiskat First Nation Friday.

Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit, with assistance from front-line officers working out of the Attawapiskat detachment, NAPS Emergency Response Team, members of the OPP, and the Timmins Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential address in the community of Attawapiskat First Nation in the morning hours of Friday, Jan. 10.

The warrant was obtained as a result of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity from that address.

When officers entered the home, they located and arrested two suspects without incident.

As a result of their search, police located and seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine pills, crystal methamphetamine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The estimated street value of drugs seized totals more than $35,000 CAD.  

Jonathan TOOKATE, 44, of Attawapiskat First Nation, is charged with:

·         Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

·         Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

·         Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Sarah TOOKATE, 76, of Attawapiskat First Nation, is charged with:

·         Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

·         Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking

·         Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Sarah TOOKATE was released with conditions and a future court appearance date.

Jonathan TOOKATE appeared for a bail hearing on Saturday, Jan. 11 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

Victim Found Bleeding On Porch

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m. a citizen, who resides on Montreal Street near Highway 401, contacted the Kingston Police after locating an unknown male victim on their front porch. The victim was covered in blood and bleeding profusely from the head. 

Members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded and located the victim who was suffering from a laceration to his forehead and another to his thigh, both of which are believed to be caused by an edged weapon.

Investigators believe the victim was picked up by a white sedan in the area of Princess Street and Bagot Street. The vehicle was then driven to the area of Montreal Street and the Highway 401 carpool lot.

Once at the carpool lot, a group of individuals inside the vehicle began to assault the victim. The victim was eventually able to flee the area on foot and seek help. The victim was transported to hospital where they were treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident is currently being investigated by members of the Kingston Police Criminal Investigations Division.

Warrant Arrests

St. Thomas Police arrest a 50-year-old Quinte West resident after they attended the Police Station to turn themselves in on an outstanding warrant for Criminal Harassment x2. The individual was processed, and released with a future court date. ST25000745, ST24018453.

A 46-year-old St. Thomas resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant, when they attended the Police station to turn themselves in for breaching probation. The individual was processed and held for court.ST25000746, ST24005762.

Cause Disturbance

St. Thomas Police attended a downtown business for disturbance. A 34-year-old St. Thomas resident was outside the location yelling, after following an employee to work. The complainant quickly locked the door and phoned police. The individual was arrested and charged for cause disturbance, and failing to comply with probation x2. The individual was transported to Police Headquarters for processing, and released with a future court date. ST25000750.

Multiple Break and Enters

St. Thomas Police are investigating a break in to a north end business compound. A fence was damaged to gain entry. Security video is being reviewed of suspects and a vehicle involved. The incident is still under investigation. ST25000739.

St. Thomas Police are investigating a break in to a south side church. The caller reported broken windows to the building. Security Video is being reviewed. Evidence is being processed, and the incident is still under investigation. ST25000751.

St. Thomas Police are investigating a break in to a north end business compound. A fence was damaged to gain entry.  The suspect/s stole a Coleman dune buggy valued at $1600 and an electric bike valued at $1000. The dune buggy was eventually located a distance away. The bike is still outstanding. Security Video is being reviewed, and the incident is still under investigation. ST25000798.

Police arrested a suspect after a pair of businesses were broken into over the weekend.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the 600 block of Arthur Street West shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, after receiving reports of a break-in.

Responding officers found that a business window had been smashed by the suspect to gain entry. Officers also found evidence that an adjacent business was also damaged by the suspect.

A suspect was quickly located and arrested after a brief foot chase. The suspect was identified after initially providing officers with false names.

Yzerman Tyrell KAKEGAMIC, 26, is charged with the following:
• Break and Enter to Commit an Indictable Offence x2
• Mischief Over $5,000
• Mischief Under $5,000
• Obstruct Peace Officer
• Theft Under $5,000
• False Alarm of Fire

The accused appeared in court over the weekend and has been released from custody with conditions and a future appearance date.

Home Invasion

Region of Peel – Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged a male in connection with a series of criminal offences involving forcible confinement and robbery with a firearm.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, a male victim was bound and restrained at a residence in Mississauga and a demand for money was made. The male attended the victim’s home obtained various bank cards and later forced the victim to withdraw a large sum of money from a financial institution before being released unharmed.

On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the male re-attended the victim’s home armed with a handgun and confronted a second victim forcing his way in. During this confrontation, miscellaneous items were stolen from the residence.

On Friday, January 3, 2025, investigators with the assistance of our Tactical Unit executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence in Mississauga where the following items were seized:

  • Sig Sauer p320 Firearm
  • Three Prohibited magazines
  • Ammunition hidden in a furnace
  • Pellet Gun
  • Identification belonging to the victim

Darko Jugova 35-year-old man from Mississauga who is currently on bail release was arrested, and found to have a firearm. He was charged with the following offences:

  • Forcible Confinement
  • Robbery
  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Break and Enter
  • Extortion

He was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Another Home Invasion

The Halton Regional Police Service is searching for four suspects after an armed home invasion in Milton.

On January 12, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m. three suspects broke into a home in the area of Walnut Landing and Proud Drive by forcing open the front door of the residence.

The suspects confronted an adult male and held him at gunpoint while they searched the home for valuables. The suspects then stole various clothing and jewelry items and fled in a grey 4 door hatchback.

No physical injuries were sustained.

The three suspects that were observed are described as male of average height and thin build. All wearing face coverings.

When questioned about his identity, he was found to have lied, resulting in an obstruction charge. He was arrested and held for bail.

Jalen Belle-McCormack Arrested Again

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are seeking assistance to locate a male wanted in connection to a 2024 shooting incident in Waterloo.

On May 18, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a business located in the area of King Street North and University Avenue West.

Through investigation, police determined that a disturbance occurred while suspects were inside the business and shots were fired.

Jalen Belle-McCormack, 20, from Toronto, is currently wanted on a warrant in connection to this incident. Charges include:

  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Utter Threats
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Point Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with a Judicial Order (two counts)
  • Breach Probation

Mr. Belle-McCormack is known to frequent the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton.

13 Year Old Cyclist Killed – One Arrested

Officers have laid charges against the driver involved in a fatal collision involving a 13-year-old cyclist in Ajax.

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, members from West Division were dispatched to a collision involving a cyclist and motor vehicle on Stevensgate Drive near Rossland Road West in Ajax.

It was reported that a black 2020 Hyundai Sante Fe was turning from Stevensgate Drive onto Rossland Road West when it struck a cyclist riding westbound through a marked crossride. The rider of the bicycle, a 13-year-old female from Ajax was fatally injured as a result of the collision.  The driver of the Hyundai was uninjured and remained on the scene. Police attended and conducted an investigation.

On Monday January 13th, 2025, the driver of the Hyundai was charged by police.  The driver, a 44-year-old female from Ajax was charged with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act.

GPS Daily Update 15Jan2025: FB Harassment, Panhandler Assaults Victim & Robbery

Facebook posts lead to harassment charge

A St. Mary’s woman has been charged with harassment over Facebook posts targeting a Guelph couple.

In early January, the Guelph Police Service began receiving calls from residents concerned about the welfare of two dogs at a south-end residence. After posts were made online, the dogs’ owners reported several instances of people showing up and yelling at them, trying to gain access to their backyard and even flying a drone over their house and photographing it.

Officials from Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) visited the home several times and are satisfied the dogs are being properly cared for and are not in danger.

Police spoke to the owner of one Facebook page, who refused to take down posts identifying the dogs’ owners and encouraging people to continue visiting the property and to boycott their small business. She also offered via Facebook to share the victims’ address with anyone who wants it.

On Tuesday a 57-year-old St. Mary’s woman was arrested for harassing communications. She will appear in court February 21.

Panhandler pulls knife on staff

A Guelph man faces several weapons charges after a panhandler pulled a knife Tuesday on an employee of a south-end business.

Approximately 11 a.m. police were called to a business near Stone Road West and Edinburgh Road South. The manager had received several complaints about a man approaching patrons in the drive-through and aggressively asking for money. When the manager asked the man to leave he pulled out a large knife and pointed it at the manager in a threatening manner.

Officers responded quickly and located the suspect nearby. The knife was located in his jacket pocket.

A 42-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, breaching a probation order, failing to leave when directed and soliciting in an aggressive manner under the Safe Streets Act.  He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.

Robbery arrest

A Guelph woman is charged with robbery after an employee at a business was assaulted Tuesday night by someone attempting to steal a large amount of merchandise.

Just before 11 p.m. police were contacted by staff from a business on Silvercreek Parkway North about an aggressive female inside the store. She had filled a cart with $2,800 worth of products and was drinking a canned beverage she had not paid for.

When an employee approached her about consuming the beverage the woman became belligerent. She attempted to leave the store with the full cart and when an employee intervened the woman threw the beverage, striking the employee and staining her clothing.

Police arrived a short time later and arrested the woman. Investigation revealed she is currently before the courts for two similar incidents over the Christmas holidays.

A 39-year-old Guelph woman is charged with robbery. She was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.

GPS Daily Update 14Jan2025 : $10k Wire Stolen, Officer Assaulted, Etc.

$10k in wire stolen from business

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after approximately $10,000 worth of wire was stolen from a west-end business.

On Monday police were called to a business near Speedvale Avenue West and Royal Road after employees discovered a storage container had been entered by cutting off a padlock. A number of spools of wire were stolen.

Employees also discovered a hole had been cut in the fence to gain access to the yard. It is believed the break-in occurred late Sunday or early Monday.

Second arrest in vehicle theft

A second man has been arrested in relation to a vehicle stolen from a north-end driveway earlier this month.

On January 3 police were called to a home near Woolwich Street and Division Street. The owner had placed her car keys on a table near the front door and when she awoke the keys and her car were missing.

A neighbour provided security video which showed a male approaching the victim’s house and then a short time later the vehicle being reversed from the driveway. During the investigation it was learned the car had been involved in a collision just outside the city. A witness had given the driver a lift back into Guelph.

On January 6, a 35-year-old Guelph man was arrested on several charges including break and enter and motor vehicle theft.

Investigation by the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit revealed shortly after the car was stolen it was used to pick up a second man from an address nearby. This second man was driving the car when it was involved in the collision.

On Monday a 56-year-old Eden Mills man was arrested. Investigation revealed he is currently bound by 10 different driving prohibitions. He is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000 and 10 counts of driving while prohibited. He will appear in bail court Wednesday.

Arrest for spitting at officer

A Guelph man was arrested Monday for spitting at a Guelph Police officer.

Approximately 9:30 a.m. officers were at a downtown social service agency at the request of staff to speak to a male who was acting erratically. During the conversation the male continually spat on the floor and a table. When asked to stop doing so he spat towards an officer, who was not struck.

A 22-year-old Guelph man was arrested for assault police. He will appear in court February 21.

High School Assault – 2 Teens Arrested

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police East Criminal Investigation Section has charged two youth in relation to an assault with a weapon at Hillcrest High School yesterday morning that left two victims with serious injuries.

A 16-year-old male of Ottawa, has been charged with:

–          Aggravated assault

–          Assault with a weapon

–          Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

A 15-year-old male of Ottawa, has been charged with:

–          Harassment by threatening conduct

–          Mischief 

The two other youths arrested yesterday have been released without charges pending further investigation.

None of the youths can be named as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The investigation remains ongoing.
