Mark HALLETT Arrested – Weapons & Cocaine

(LONDON, ON) – London resident facing firearms and drug trafficking charges after search warrant executed.

On February 21, 2024, members of the Elgin-Middlesex Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Oxford-Brant CSCU and the London Police Service Emergency Response Unit (ERU), executed a search warrant at a residence on Southdale Road East in the City of London.

As a result of the investigation an individual is facing charges in relation to firearms, drug possession and trafficking.

Mark HALLETT, a 59-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition and with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of psilocybin under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in London on March 26, 2024, to speak to the charges.

The investigation is continuing.

David ALDRED Arrested

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with Criminal Harassment.

On February 02, 2024, Bancroft OPP had taken reports of someone receiving repeated unwanted correspondence over an extended period. Bancroft OPP arrested one person in an ongoing criminal harassment in regards to the investigation.

David ALDRED, a 69-year-old from Lake Saint Peter has been charged with Criminal Harassment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on March 12, 2024.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Adam BRITT

(CALLANDER, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with several offences after police stopped a dirt bike in Callander.

On February 17, 2024, just after 9:00 p.m., a member of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol when they observed a dirt bike traveling on Callander Bay Drive with no lights to the rear.

As a result of the investigation Adam BRITT, a 41-year-old from East Ferris Township was arrested and charged with the following:

·      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

·      Drive motor vehicle – no plates

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Drive without proper rear light – motorcycle

·      No mirror

·      Driver fail to surrender licence

·      Drive motor vehicle – improper licence.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 5, 2024.

Fatal Collision Closes Hwy 21

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision.

On February 28, 2024, at 9:00 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP, along with Grey County Paramedic Services and the Intertownship Fire department responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 21 in Georgian Bluffs. One person transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing, and members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are assisting the Grey Bruce OPP with the investigation.

Highway 21 between Grey Road 18 and Grey Road 3 remains closed for the protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation and will likely be closed for several hours. Motorists are asked to not drive through the road closed signs.

Meth Bust – Christopher TREMBLAY & Jessica HERRICK Arrested

(ARNPRIOR, ON) – Two people face charges after a search warrant in Arnprior resulted in the seizure of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, methamphetamine and psilocybin.

The Ontario Provincial Police East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by members of the Arnprior office of the Renfrew Detachment, executed a search warrant February 9, 2024, at an apartment on Burwash Street.

In addition to the illegal drugs officers also located items typically associated with drug trafficking, including digital scales, packaging material and multiple cell phones.

Christopher TREMBLAY, age 34 and Jessica HERRICK, age 37, both residents of Arnprior are each charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
  • Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

HERRICK has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 20, 2024.

TREMBLAY remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for March 1, 2024, before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

Samantha BYMA – Drunk Driving

(FORT FRANCES) – One individual is facing impaired charges after colliding with a police vehicle.

On February 27, 2024, just before 9:30 p.m., members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were responding to an incident in the area of Third Street in the Town of Fort Frances. As officers were parked, a motor vehicle approached and subsequently collided with the marked cruisers. There were no injuries to officers or the driver of the motor vehicle as a result.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Rainy River District OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Samantha BYMA, 20-years-old, of Fort Frances has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on March 25, 2024.

Peter BANKS Arrested Again

(WAWA, ON) – A local resident is facing criminal charges after being found in possession of stolen property. On February 14, 2024, shortly after 10:00 p.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft on Regina Crescent in Wawa.

As a result of the investigation, Peter BANKS, 22 years-of-age, of Wawa was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

The accused was remanded into custody, pending a bail hearing.

Steffani OLIVER – Mischief

(WAWA, ON) – A local resident is facing multiple charges following a family dispute in Wawa. On February 14, 2024, shortly before 7:00 p.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance on Nyman Avenue.

As a result of the investigation, Steffani OLIVER, 27 years-of-age, of Wawa was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief Under $5,000 – two counts
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts 

The accused was remanded into custody, pending a bail hearing.

Preston PLANTE – Harassment

(WAWA, ON) – A local resident is facing multiple charges following a criminal investigation. On February 12, 2024, shortly before 4:00 p.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of harassment on Wood Avenue in Wawa.

Investigation revealed that, despite being warned by police not to, the accused continued to communicate with the victim of a previous incident. While being placed under arrest, the accused physically assaulted the two arresting officers. As a result, Preston PLANTE, 27 years-of-age, of Wawa has been charged with:

  • Harassing Communications
  • Assault Peace Officer – two counts 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 4, 2024 in Wawa.

Brian ARMSTRONG & Mathieu COTE Arrested For Assault


(WAWA, ON)
 – A physical altercation has resulted in two individuals facing criminal charges. On February 11, 2024, shortly after 8:00 p.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance on Boucher Avenue in Hawk Junction.

As a result of the investigation, Mathieu COTE, 20 years-of-age, of Hawk Junction was arrested and charged with one count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

Additionally, Brian ARMSTRONG, 48 years-of-age, of Wawa was arrested and charged with one count of Assault.

Both accused individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 4, 2024 in Wawa.

Nicole GUERARD – Drunk Driving

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On February 27, 2024, at 01:52 p.m., members of the Leamington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. along Erie Street South in Leamington.

A vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. and the driver was exhibiting signs of impairment. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) testing.

As a result, Nicole GUERARD, 43-years-old, from Harrow was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs S.320.14(1)(a) CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on March 13, 2024, to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

The Essex County OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Ron MCGILL Arrested & Extricated From Vehicle Following Drunk Driving Collision

(NORTH KAWARTHA TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver has been charged with Impaired driving after their vehicle went of the road and rolled on County Road 504.

On February 27, 2024, shortly after 4:30pm, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a concerned citizen advising that a vehicle had gone off the road on County Road 504 near Jack Lake Road in North Kawartha Township. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled before coming to rest, with the driver trapped in it.

Officers arrived on scene as well as North Kawartha Township Fire and Paramedics. After a lengthy extraction from the vehicle, it was determined that the driver was impaired and as a result was arrested. The driver was transported to a local hospital and then later taken by ORNGE Air to a larger hospital for treatment of injuries.

Ron MCGILL (age 66) of North Kawartha Township, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 9, 2024.

Joshua TURNER Facing Numerous Charges

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual prohibited from driving is facing several driving-related charges following an investigation into stunt driving on 1st Concession Road STR.

At approximately 2:28 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment noticed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit on 1st Concession Road STR in Courtland, Norfolk County, travelling at more than 150 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

After the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver sped away, later leaving the road. The driver then fled on foot from the scene. No injuries were reported.

Shortly after, patrolling officers found the driver at a nearby location and took them into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 20-year-old Joshua TURNER of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Flight from Peace Officer,
  • Dangerous operation,
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed,
  • Speeding 50+ km/h over posted speed limit,
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Violent Robbery – Steven NORMAN & Michael GUNN Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF MINDEN HILLS, ON) The Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals in relation to an assault and robbery that occurred earlier this month.

On February 9, 2024, shortly after 4:30 a.m., members of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment responded to an assault and robbery with a weapon on Parkside Street in Minden. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A thorough investigation was conducted by the Haliburton Highlands OPP Crime Unit. 

As a result of the investigation, Steven NORMAN, 44-year-old of Minden Hills, has been charged with:

·        Aggravated assault

·        Robbery using firearm

·        Possession of a weapon

·        Possession of a weapon while prohibited

Michael GUNN, 28-year-old of Minden Hills, has been charged with:

·        Aggravated assault

·        Robbery using firearm

·        Possession of a weapon

·        Fail to comply release order

·        Possession of a firearm while prohibited

Both were held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.

Reyna HUELO PORTILLO – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver in Thames Centre facing Impaired driving charge after failing roadside demand.

On February 27, 2024, at 7:55 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Dorchester Road in Thames Centre, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol.

As a result, a 27-year-old of Dorchester, was issued a 3-day driver’s license suspension for registering an Alert on the roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD).

A secondary driver attended the scene to assist, at which time it was determined that individual had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Reyna HUELO PORTILLO, a 27-year-old of Dorchester, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 30, 2024.
