Jessica STEVEN – Drunk Driving

(PETAWAWA, ON) – Two drivers are facing Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charges after members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently investigated two separate incidents.

On February 24, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Petawawa Boulevard in the Town of Petawawa. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 32-year-old Jessica STEVEN of Milton, Ontario, is charged with the following CC offences:

•             Operation while impaired – alcohol

•             Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 2, 2024.

Also, on February 24, 2024, at approximately 10:10 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Mountain Road in the Township of Laurentian Valley (TLV) after a northbound pickup truck collided with a southbound SUV. There were no serious injuries and as part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized.

Darin UDOWICZ Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Central Region Crime Program of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an individual in Montreal in relation to harassment.  

On February 22, 2024, the Central Region Crime Program, along with assistance from the Montreal Police executed a Canada-wide warrant for the accused in Montreal, as well as warrant for the accused’s residence.

Darin UDOWICZ, 51-year-old of Dollard-Des Ormeaux, was charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

·      Adult Criminal Harassment – repeatedly communicate

·      Adult Harassing Communications

·      Adult Intimidation – Justice system – justice system participant

The accused was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear online before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on March 19, 2024.

OPP Report Sexual Assaults In Corporation Of North Huron

(NORTH HURON, ON) – On February 15th, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Township of North Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had committed criminal acts against their partner dating back as far as 2013 – present.

A 34-year-old individual from North Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Assault – (two counts),

–      Forcible Confinement,

–      Theft Under $5,000,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death,

–      Mischief – Domestic,

–      Sexual Assault,

–      Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition or Prohibited Device – (three counts),

–      Breach of Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon – (three counts).

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later remanded into custody with a court date scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

$50,000 In Corn Dryers Missing

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation by the Huron County Provincial Police (OPP) is under way following a theft report involving two corn blowers valued at $50,000.

On Monday, February 12th, 2024, Huron OPP received a report of a theft from a business address on Cardiff Road in the Municipality of Huron East. Police attended the site of the theft and began their investigation. Police discovered that sometime between February 9th and February 12th, 2024, unknown culprit(s) attended the business property and stole the two corn blower machines, which would have been towed separately by a vehicle.

The corn blowers are described as follows:

Both “WALINGA” brand, green in colour.

Serial numbers: MT66114XDLX02029051, and MT6614DLX0703B10714.

The estimated value of the stolen equipment is $50,000.

Shade KECHEGO-HENRY Arrested

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after member of public calls in traffic complaint of possible impaired driver.

On February 28, 2024, at 10:46 a.m., members of the Oneida Nation Police and the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Walker Road in Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located on Iroquois Road at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest.

While in police custody, the accused caused damage to one of the cells and was subsequently charged.

As a result, Shade KECHEGO-HENRY, a 28-year-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Mischief Under $ 5,000

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 23, 2024.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Darryl HIGHAM Arrested

(CHAPLEAU, ON) – One person is facing criminal charges after causing a disturbance at a residence in Chapleau. On February 22, 2024, shortly before 3:00 p.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a threats occurrence on Pine Street.

As a result of the investigation, Darryl HIGHAM, 36 years-of-age, of Cloyne, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Mischief       

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 16, 2024 in Chapleau.

Ashley CUMMINGS Arrested – Kidnapping, Assault, Threats, Etc. Etc.

(TYENDIAGA MOHAWK TERRITORY, ON) – The final individual, wanted in connection with a home invasion, kidnapping and assault in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory has been arrested.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad located and arrested Ashley CUMMINGS, age 36, on February 28, 2024 in Deseronto. She is charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon – two counts
  • Kidnapping
  • Conspiracy to commit and indictable offence-kidnapping
  • Forcible confinement
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Robbery with violence
  • Theft under $5000
  • Break and enter with intent to commit and indictable offence
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Disguise with intent

CUMMINGS will remain in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled for February 29, 2024 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Five other individuals are already before the courts on similar charges.

The incident happened January 28, 2024, around 4:30 a.m., at a residence on Atsia Court on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. It was reported that several individuals had entered the home, assaulted a male and took him away in a vehicle. He was assaulted again and was then dropped off in another part of the community. The victim did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Florence MCKAY Arrested

(NORTH CARIBOU LAKE FIRST NATION) – One Individual is facing multiple charges after a routine checkpoint inspection in North Caribou Lake First Nation.

On February 25, 2024, the North Caribou Lake detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) worked in collaboration with the North Caribou Lake Checkpoint Guards to conduct a routine vehicle inspection.

The inspection, and subsequent investigation, has resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including cocaine, crack cocaine and pills. Two edged weapons and items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

Florence MCKAY, 46-years-old, of Dryden has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

Florence MCKAY was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Provincial Court on April 25, 2024.

Guy DEVOST – Drunk Driving

(EAST FERRIS TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver involved in a single motor vehicle collision was arrested by police for impaired driving.

On February 18, 2024, just after 2:00 a.m., a member of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located a single vehicle in the ditch on Lake Nosbonsing Road in East Ferris Township while on their way to assist another officer.

Upon speaking to the driver, it was determined that they had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Detachment of the OPP for further testing.

As a result of the investigation Guy DEVOST, a 38-year-old from East Ferris Township was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 12, 2024.

The accused was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

BAILEY Arrested For Drunk Driving

(GREENSTONE) – A traffic complaint has resulted in one individual being arrested and charged with impaired operation.

On February 27, 2024, just before 3:30 p.m., members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver on Third Avenue Southwest in Geraldton. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Greenstone OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Jay BAILEY, 67-years-old, of Geraldton has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Greenstone on April 18, 2024.

Drug Bust – FOSTER & ROSE Arrested

(ARNPRIOR, ON) – Two people are facing drug and criminal charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized suspected cocaine from a residence in Arnprior.

As part of a drug trafficking investigation, the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and members of the Renfrew County OPP attended a residence on Madawaska Street on February 20, 2024.

 Two people were arrested and officers seized nearly two grams of suspected cocaine and items typically associated with drug trafficking, including scales and packaging materials.

Christopher ROSE, age 52, of Arnprior has been charged with:

  • Uttering threats to cause death
  • Resist a Peace Officer
  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine

Blair FOSTER, age 47, of Arnprior has been charged with:

  • Trafficking a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 3, 2024.

Clarence PETTEN Arrested After Complaint

(MIDLAND, ON)- In response to a community members complaint at approximately 12:14 p.m. February 28, 2024 of a driver tossing a liquor bottle out the window of a parked but running GMC pick up truck in a parking lot on Jones Road, Midland an officer from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment located the suspect vehicle and spoke with the driver.

The officer entered into an impaired driving investigation that has resulted in Clarence PETTEN 66 years of Tiny Township being charged criminally with the offences of Operation while impaired – alcohol and further with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on March 21, 2024 along with the involved vehicle being towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Nigel EKOMIAK Arrested For Drunk Driving

(NORTH BAY, ON) – One person was arrested and charged in North Bay after a traffic stop. 

On February 14, 2024, just after 12:00 a.m., an officer from the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Fisher Street in the City of North Bay.  

Upon speaking to the driver, it was determined that they had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was issued a Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) demand.

The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay Detachment of the OPP for further testing.

As a result of the investigation Nigel EKOMIAK a 31-year-old person from Copper Cliff was charged for the following:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay March 12, 2024.

The accused was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

North Bay OPP would like to remind drivers that the Mandatory Alcohol Screening law allows police with an approved alcohol screening device to demand a roadside breath sample from any lawfully stopped driver without having reasonable suspicion that a driver is alcohol impaired.

Hit & Run – Colin MCGILLIVRAY Arrested For Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) On February 24, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of Haldimand County OPP received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a sedan and a parked Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), on Lakeshore Road, Selkirk.

The driver of the sedan fled the scene on foot and was located a short distance away. 

The individual was displaying signs of impairment and was placed under arrest and transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, 54-year-old Colin MCGILLIVRAY of Cayuga was charged with the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Alcohol Readily Available
  • Fail to Remain
  • Fail to Report Accident
  • Fail to Notify Change of Name
  • Use Plate Not Authorized

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on March 26, 2024.

Edward AMME – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – Two arrests were made, and impaired charges were laid over the weekend in Haldimand County.

On February 23, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver on Main Street in Dunnville.

The vehicle was located and upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent they had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the individual was taken into custody and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, 64-year-old Edward AMME of Dunnville was charged with the Criminal Code offence of Operation While Impaired.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on March 12, 2024.
