Amanda DA COSTA GOMEZ Was Arrested

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with refusal after a member of the public reports a possible impaired driver on Richmond Street.

On June 29, 2024, at 4:19 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized at which time the driver refused. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Amanda DA COSTA GOMEZ, a 44-year-old of Lucan Biddulph, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act with:

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

·      Dangerous operation

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on August 19, 2024.

Saindon BLAKE – Drunk Driving

(ST CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) -Driver charged with Impaired after a traffic stop was conducted.

On June 30, 2024, shortly after 2:50 a.m., a uniform member of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Brigden Road in St Clair Township.

After speaking with the driver, Police took the driver of the vehicle into custody without incident.

Saindon BLAKE, a 50-year-old of St Clair Township, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia to speak to the charges on July 29, 2024.

Michael MORGAN – Impaired Driving

(PLYMPTON-WYOMING, ON) – A driver is facing charges after colliding with two parked vehicles.

On July 1, 2024, shortly after 2:30 a.m., members of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single vehicle collision involving two parked vehicles on Broadway Street in Plympton-Wyoming.

Officers arrived on scene and subsequently took the driver of the vehicle into custody without incident.

Michael MORGAN, a 47-year-old from Petrolia, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia to speak to the charges on July 30, 2024.

Jeremy PEARCE Was Arrested

(Brant, ON) – A Brantford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Sour Springs Road.

On June 29, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m., a member of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol when a black Ford caught their interest after the officer was alerted by the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system of a possible validation expiry.

A traffic stop was initiated. Upon speaking to the driver and conducting a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) query it was determined that the driver falsely identified themselves.

As a result, Jeremy PEARCE, a 47-year-old of Brantford, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Drive Motor vehicle – No Licence

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 26th, 2024.

Jeffrey DOUGLASS – Assault & Threats

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – A disturbance at Base 31 has resulted in one person facing criminal charges.

Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the facility on Kingsley Road just before 7:30 p.m. on June 30, 2024. An individual had been restrained by private security staff.

The investigation found that an intoxicated male had attempted to walk away from the event at that location. Security team members, concerned for the individual’s safety, offered to call a taxi to ensure he could get home safely. The male became confrontational and assaultive and was restrained.

Jeffrey DOUGLASS, age 59 of Prince Edward County, has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on July 24, 2024.

David Russell – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Highway 35, Manvers Township.

On July 2, 2024, at 01:37 a.m., officers conducted a RIDE Program on Highway 35 in Manvers Township. A motor vehicle approached the officers conducting the program where an odour of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

David Russell, 51-year-old of Newcastle, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The above mentioned is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested – Names Released

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and arrested three impaired drivers over the Canada Day long weekend. 

On June 29, 2024, at 2:51 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP observed a vehicle on Victoria Street in Dundalk with a burnt-out licence plate light. The OPP followed the vehicle and observed it making jerky stops. As the police officer was speaking to the driver, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. As a result, Alfredo Coreas, a 24-year-old from Southgate was charged with, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, improper number plate light. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 18, 2024.

On June 30, 2024, at 11:47 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a crash notification from a motor vehicle. The OPP located the vehicle on Rankin Bridge Road. As police were speaking to the driver, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. As a result, Frederick Teatero, a 22-year-old from Hamilton was charged with, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, operation while impaired -alcohol and drugs. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 18, 2024.

On July 1, 2024, t 6:25 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a call of an intoxicated individual just left a residence. The individual was located driving a motor vehicle on Pashwood Drive in Saugeen First Nation. The police could detect the odor of an alcoholic beverage from the driver’s breath. As a result, Koralee Karcher, a 21-year-old from South Bruce was charged with, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, failure to comply with undertaking. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on July 17, 2024.

If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.  The OPP relies on the public to report crime. Impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently.

Scott Weiler Was Arrested Again

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating three break and enters and one theft in the Municipality of Meaford. 

Between June 23, 2024, and June 24, 2024, the Grey Bruce OPP investigated a series of five break and enters on Albert Street, Parker Street and Birchwood Court. Thanks to the public the individual was identified.

On June 27, 2024, the Grey Bruce OPP located and arrested Scott Weiler, 36-years-old of Meaford. Weiler was charged with the following:

·      Mischief Under $5000

·      Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence

·      Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held pending a bail hearing.

It is important for homeowners to report all break and enters to police.

Brooke BLAIR – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police stopped a vehicle on Laprairie Crescent for not having lights on.

On June 29, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol when the vehicle stop was conducted. The driver was spoken to who exhibited signs of impairment by alcohol.  They were subsequently arrested and charged and the vehicle was towed and impounded.  

Brooke BLAIR, 22-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 15, 2024.

Nickolaus ROWE Was Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in New Liskeard led to the arrest of an impaired driver.

On June 28, 2024, shortly after 10:45 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Lakeshore Road North in New Liskeard. A vehicle approached the checkpoint, and it was determined that the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As a result of the investigation, Nickolaus ROWE, 18 years-of-age of New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis in open original packaging

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on July 30, 2024. He was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Talwinder Singh Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against an Ottawa resident after receiving multiple driving complaints.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on June 28, OPP received numerous calls to 911 in regards to a possible impaired driver on Highway 416 south, near Fallowfield. The driver had been driving signficantly under the speed limit and was unable to maintain driving in their lane. Ottawa OPP stopped the vehicle and the resulting investigation led officers to believe the driver was impaired by drugs.

Talwinder Singh, aged 23 of Ottawa has been charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Drive – Hand – Held Communication Device

Singh was issued a 90-day driving suspension and had his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – Police arrested two individuals as the result of a concerned citizen calling in a suspicious vehicle complaint.

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford detachment were called to Peach Street in the Town of Tillsonburg for the report of a suspicious vehicle.

As a result of the investigation two individuals were charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

Alexandria Batchelor a 26-year-old resident of East York was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

Jordan OMALY a 27-year-old resident of Brampton was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Use, Deals, Acts on Forged Document
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (two counts)

The accused individuals have been released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock on July 30, 2024.

Johnathan TEAHEN Was Arrested

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired after traffic complaint. 

On June 26, 2024, just before 11:00 a.m., OPP received a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located shortly afterwards. During the course of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized. The driver of the vehicle was then transported to the detachment for further testing.

Johnathan TEAHEN, 41 years old, of Laurentian Valley Township was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 23, 2024.

Andrew KANIEWSKI Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a collision with impaired operation by drugs.

On June 27, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a single motor-vehicle collision on Escarpment Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. No injuries were sustained. While investigating, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Andrew KANIEWSKI, 35, of Etobicoke, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – drugs

• Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

• Possession of a Schedule I substance

The accused is schedule to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 22, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from impaired drivers. Whether a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired, and impaired driving is dangerous regardless of the source of impairment.

Mahmud BADHON Was Arrested

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment located and investigated a vehicle after a Good Samaritan reported a traffic complaint in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m., members of the Elgin County OPP located the vehicle travelling more than 65km/h over the posted speed limit and stopped the vehicle on the eastbound Highway 401 near the 102-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chatham Kent Police Service for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Mahmud BADHON, a 24-year-old from Windsor was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
  • Follow too closely
  • Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on July 22, 2024.

The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the individual who contacted police and reported this incident. As a direct result, officers were able to safely locate the vehicle and take the driver into custody.
