Cocaine Bust – Names Released

(PENETANGUISHENE,ON) – A traffic stop by police of a pick up truck in Penetanguishene overnight has resulted in the seizure of several chunks of cocaine destined for area distribution.

Two members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) attached to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment conducted a vehicle stop of a Dodge Ram pick up with four occupants on Main Street at approximately 9:10 p.m. June 27, 2024 resulting in the officers entering into a Liquor Licence and Control Act investigation. During the course of this investigation, several large chunks of a substance appearing to be that of suspected cocaine along with drug related paraphernalia were located and seized along with open liquor found within the pick up. The street value of the seized cocaine is believed to be in excess of $7000.

As a result of this investigation the following area residents 1-4 have been charged with the following offences.

1 / Penetanguishene resident Thomas STOLL 22 years of age has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Having liquor in open container in unauthorized place contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

2 / Hillsdale resident Dylan CASTON 20 years of age has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Driving while under suspension – contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor – contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available – contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

3 / Tiny Township resident Abigail GAILBRAITH 20 years of age has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

4 / Midland resident Darren ELLERY 31 years of age has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • Obstruct Peace Officer – contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Consuming liquor in unauthorized place – contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

The accused persons #’s 1-3 were released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 8, 2024. Accused person # 4 was held in custody to appear before a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

Fatal Collision

(South Dundas Twp, ON) – One person is deceased after a three-vehicle collision south of Winchester.

Officers with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as the South Dundas Fire Service and Cornwall-SD&G Paramedics, responded to the scene just after 3:30 p.m. on June 27, 2024, on Bank Street, between Winchester and Williamsburg.

The collision involved two sport utility vehicles (SUV) and a transport truck.

The driver of one sport utility vehicle, a 50-year-old-man from Morrisburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The initial investigation has found that the transport was heading south in the southbound lane when one northbound SUV moved into the southbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the transport. The second SUV then collided with the wreckage.

The transport driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the other SUV driver was checked-out by paramedics and had no serious injuries.

The investigation by SD&G OPP is continuing, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Technical Collision Investigation Team.

Misty Hilts Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended Emily Provincial Park at approximately 9:30 p.m. last night to assist the Park Wardens with a disturbance coming from one of the campsites.

Once officers arrived on scene and spoke with multiple witnesses, the person of interest returned to their campsite in their vehicle. The investigating officer entered an impaired driving investigation.

45-year-old, Misty Hilts from Hiawatha First Nations was arrested and charged with

  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Misty was released from custody with a future court date and served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Brock NIELSEN Was Arrested

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Traffic stop leads to arrest of impaired driver and a quantity of illicit drugs.

On June 27, 2024, at 3:42 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Marion Street in Thames Centre, observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

A traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle resulted in 262 grams of illicit drugs, suspected to be cocaine.

The individual was transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where tests were completed by a qualified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As a result, Brock NIELSEN, a 43-year-old of Dorchester, has been charged under the Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Resist Peace Officer

·      Failure to comply with undertaking

·      Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused was held for bail.

Leroy VINCENT Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Two individuals are facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP detachment.  

On June 26, 2024, just before 7:00 a.m., members of the Dryden OPP CSCU conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17, Satterly Township. The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine and oxycodone. 

As a result of the investigation, Leroy VINCENT, 57-years-old, of Wabigoon, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offences:

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine 

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone 

The accused individuals have been released from custody. Leroy VINCENT is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 15, 2024, in Dryden. The 17-year-old is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024, in Dryden.

Assault With Weapon

(HEAD-CLARA-MARIA TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit has arrested two people in relation to an incident in Head-Clara-Maria Township.

It took place on June 24, 2024, near Stonecliffe. The OPP was advised of a confrontation that had taken place in which a firearm was allegedly pointed at people.

With the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit and the Emergency Response Team a warrant was executed at a residence in the area on June 26, 2024. As a result, two people were arrested.

Paul FARRELL, 56 years old, and Nancy VOROS, 59 years old, both of Head-Clara-Maria Township have each been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, as well as unauthorized possession of a firearm.

VOROS is also charged with two counts of pointing a firearm.

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 30, 2024.

Steven GRANBERG Arrested Again

(SABLES-SPANISH RIVERS TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after police received information about a stolen vehicle.

On June 26, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen vehicle from Castle Street in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. Police made attempts to locate the vehicle, but were unsuccessful.

Later that evening, the stolen vehicle entered the OPP detachment parking lot as the driver wanted to speak with police for an unrelated matter. The driver was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Steven GRANBERG, 47-years-old from Spanish has been charged with: 

  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held in custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Sudbury Bail Court on June 27, 2024.

Prabhjot RANDHAWA: Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with over three times the legal limit with impaired operation.

On June 25, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Caledon OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver on Old School Road. Officers located the vehicle. Officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Prabhjot RANDHAWA, 53, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 11, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Drug Bust: Names Released

(NIPIGON, ON) – Two Nipigon residents are facing drug trafficking charges following a search warrant execution in Nipigon.

On June 25, 2024, just after 1:00 p.m., members of the Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Nipigon OPP Detachment, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Harkness Street.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, and psilocybin. Canadian currency and other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

As a result, Samantha HARDY, 31-years-old, and Mitchell ALCOCK, 31-years-old, both of Nipigon, have been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and CDSA with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

·      Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

ALCOCK has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon on August 20, 2024. HARDY is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon on June 28, 2024.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested: Names Released

(TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH, ON) – Last evening, Officer’s of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two individuals with impaired operation within one hour between 7:00-8:00 p.m.

On June 26, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Yonge Street South in Elmvale, Springwater Township. The vehicle was later located, and a traffic stop was initiated on County Road 27, and after investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Nikita NELSON, 34, of Barrie, was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on July 23, 2024, to answer to the charge.

Roughly an hour later, just after 8:00 p.m., the Huronia West OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check on Concession 10, Nottawasaga, in Clearview Township, when a vehicle entered the check point, and after investigation, the officer formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Trevor LAWSON, 25, of Collingwood, was arrested and charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on July 28, 2024, to answer to the charge.

Armed Robbery

(WASAGA BEACH, ON) – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are requesting the public’s assistance regarding an armed robbery that occurred at a local gas station.

On June 26, 2024, Huronia West OPP responded to the report of a robbery at the Petro Canada Gas station in the Town of Wasaga Beach. At approximately 2:20 am the suspect entered the Petro Canada armed with a knife and made a demand for cash, cigarettes, and vapes.

The suspect was described as having a medium build, with a cloth mask over their face wearing all black clothing.

On June 20, 2024, the same Petro Canada store was robbed with a similar MO by a suspect matching the description of this incident.

Ahmad MOHAMMAD NAZIM Was Arrested Again

(OTTAWA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Auto Theft and Towing (PATT) Team has arrested one person in connection with an investigation into re-vinned stolen vehicles in the Ottawa area.

In February 2024, an investigation began after a stolen vehicle was GPS tracked to a location in Saint Isidore and recovered. On June 12, 2024, members of the PATT Team and OPP East Region Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a location in Ottawa.

Police seized break-in and electronic tools indicative of auto theft, fraudulent vehicle ownerships of re-vinned stolen vehicles and two cell phones.

As a result of the investigation, Ahmad MOHAMMAD NAZIM, age 34, of Ottawa, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  •         Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  •         Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence – three counts
  •         Failure to comply with release order – two counts
  •         Failure to comply with probation order – three counts
  •         Possession of break-in instrument

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa on June 27, 2024.

Update: Names Of Four Deceased Released

(HARROW, ON) – Investigators have confirmed the identities of the four deceased individuals in an ongoing death investigation in Harrow.

The deceased, all from Harrow, have been identified as:                                                                 

  • Carly WALSH, 41 years old
  • Steven WALSH, 42 years old
  • Madison WALSH, 13 years old
  • Hunter WALSH, eight years old

The deceased individuals were all members of the same family. The circumstances that led to the individuals’ deaths remain under investigation. While the cause of death cannot yet be confirmed, investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety, although the OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.

Essex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment members began the investigation on June 20, 2024, after receiving a request to check on the well-being of a person at the home, which led to the discovery of the deceased individuals.

The investigation by the Essex County OPP Crime Unit continues under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Sukhwinder SINGH Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a collision with impaired operation.

On June 24, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision between a passenger vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle in the intersection of Airport Road and Charleston Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. Minor injuries were sustained. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver of the passenger vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Fatal Collision

(Kingston, ON) – Frontenac OPP members responded to a traffic complaint for a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 west of Kingston.

On June 25, 2024, just after 12:35 pm, a two-vehicle collision occurred in the same area of the 401 Highway. Several lanes were blocked, and the drivers from each vehicle needed to be extricated from the wreckage. Both drivers were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

 A 41-year-old female, from Kingston, was the driver of the vehicle traveling the opposite direction, which resulted in being fatally injured in this collision.

Frontenac OPP were assisted by The Lennox & Addington OPP, Kingston Fire Rescue, Frontenac Paramedics, Kingston Police Force and the Ministry of Transportation.

The OPP Reconstructionist and OPP Technical Collision Investigators attended, resulting in the highway being closed for eight hours.

The investigation will continue with the assistance of the Coroners Office of Ontario. No charges have been laid to date.
