Troy MOREAU Was Arrested Again

(NORTH BAY, ON) – Driver failed to stop for police and then fled on foot. 

On July 2, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m. the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a driving complaint on highway 11 Powassan. Upon locating the subject vehicle a short time later in Mattawa, the driver failed to stop for police and then fled on foot. Police were able to safely apprehend the driver who resisted arrest and was not co-operative with police.

The accused, Troy MOREAU, 53 years-of-age of Mattawa was charged with:

  • Fail to stop for police
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in North Bay on July 3, 2024.

Jeffery L. M. CAZABON – Sexual Assault

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in a sexual assault case that occurred at a local business. Jeffery L. M. CAZABON, 47-years-old of Waterloo, was charged with Sexual Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on August 6, 2024.

On April 30, 2024, OPP began an investigation into a sexual assault that occurred at a retail store on St David Street, Fergus. It was reported that at approximately 5:45 p.m., a woman was sexual assaulted by an unknown male.

Crispus BOSWORTH Was Arrested

(ELGIN, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a stolen vehicle on the eastbound Highway 401, Southwest Oxford and arrested the driver.

Beginning on July 1, 2024, at approximately 7:35 a.m., a member of Elgin OPP, Chatham Detachment, attempted to stop a passenger vehicle on the westbound Highway 401 near the 79-Kilometer Marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, for failing to have licence plates affixed to the vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop when directed and fled from police at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safety, the officer did not pursue the vehicle.

At approximately 9:40 a.m., members of Elgin OPP, observed the same passenger vehicle travelling on the eastbound Highway 401 initially near the 82-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent. The vehicle failed to stop when directed by police two more times before being stopped by members of the Elgin OPP and Middlesex OPP near the 217-Kilometer marker of the eastbound Highway 401, Southwest Oxford Township.

The passenger vehicle was determined to have previously reported stolen from a car dealership in Hamilton, Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, Crispus BOSWORTH, a 49-year-old from Montreal, Quebec was charged with:

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

·        Flight from peace officer (Three Counts)

·        Mischief – destroys or damages property

·        Carless Driving

·        Drive motor vehicle, no plates

The accused was held for a bail hearing, remanded into custody, and scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, St. Thomas on July 4, 2024.

Cocaine Bust

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple charges as a result of a traffic stop in the Town of Orangeville.

On June 28, 2024, at approximately 12:06 p.m., a Dufferin OPP officer while on general patrol was alerted of a possible suspended driver through the assistance of an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) device. The officer conducted a traffic stop on Sherbourne Street and was led into a criminal investigation.

Craig ROBINSON, 31-year-old male, from Orangeville, has been charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

·      Possess unmarked cigarettes

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a future date in August 2024, to answer to the charges.

Brittany DEROUIN – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – A traffic stop on Highway 11, west of Cochrane led to the driver being charged for driving while impaired by alcohol.

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, observed swerving on Highway 11, west of Cochrane.

Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an alcohol beverage, and the driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Brittany DEROUIN, 30 years of age of Cochrane, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2024, in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Bradley WHITE Was Arrested

(NORTH BAY, ON) – Police initiate a tandem traffic stop and safely apprehended the driver.

On June 29, 2024, shortly before 2:00 a.m., the North Bay OPP received a call reporting a southbound motorist on highway 11 that had taken a vehicle without consent of the owner.

Approximately half hour later police located the subject vehicle on highway 11 and safely conducted a tandem traffic stop.

Police arrested the driver and further investigation resulted in several charges.

The driver, Bradley WHITE, 31-years-of-age, of London, was charged with:

  • Take motor vehicle without consent
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • BAC above zero – novice driver
  • Care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of alcohol
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Operation while prohibited

The accused is scheduled to appear at the North Bay Ontario Court on July 16, 2024.

Death Investigation In Central Huron

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Members of the Huron County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently conducting a death investigation in Central Huron.

On July 2, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., emergency services responded to a Cut Line Road address between Parr Line and Tipperary Line, where an individual was located, transported to hospital, and later pronounced deceased.

The investigation is in its early stages and residents in the area should expect to see a large police presence. There is no threat to public safety.

The investigation is continuing by the Huron County OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

More Impaired Drivers

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The marine unit of the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued 14 tickets, and laid two criminal charges this Canada Day long weekend. The most common offences were issued for improper or missing equipment, and open alcohol on board.

On June 30, 2024, the marine unit conducted a traffic stop on a jet ski in the Ottawa River near Voyageur Provincial Park. 59-year-old Jocelyn Mondou from St-Joseph-Du-Lac was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code (CC):

  • CC – Adult operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • CC – Adult operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 31, 2024 at the L’Orignal Court of Justice. 

On July 1, 2024, the marine unit conducted a traffic stop on a boat in the Ottawa River near Hawkesbury. The driver, 44-year-old Alexandre Goyette from Grenville-Sur-La-Rouge, was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code (CC), Canada Shipping Act (CSA), and Liquor Licence & Control Act (LLCA):

  • CC – Adult failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • CSA – Operating vessel with safety equipment not in good working order
  • CSA – Operating pleasure craft without copy of licence on board
  • LLCA – Operating boat underway with open container of liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 14, 2024 at the L’Orignal Court of Justice.

David AUBE Was Arrested

(SUDBURY, ON) – A driver was charged with impaired driving after police received a traffic complaint from the public.

On June 29, 2024, shortly before 9:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17, Sudbury.

The vehicle was located and stopped by police. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, David AUBE, 51 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 24, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

More Impaired Drivers

(MIDLAND,ON) – Several calls from the public to the OPP Communication Centre reporting possible impaired drivers resulted in two drivers being removed after investigation from area roadways over the Canada Day long weekend.

At approximately 4:19 a.m. July 1, 2024 officers were dispatched to a report from an off-duty police officer with a white Nissan Versa vehicle that was stopped in a live lane at the intersection of Highway 93 and Vasey Road in the Township of Tay.

Attending officers found the driver passed out at the wheel and upon awaking and speaking with the driver, the officers entered into an impaired driving investigation resulting in an arrest and further investigation at detachment.

Charged criminally with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and further with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) is Tyler KOPKA 23 years of Mississauga.

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 18, 2024, was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Another call from the public at approximately 3:24 a.m. June 29, 2024 of a black GMC vehicle being operated in an erratic fashion eastbound on Highway 12 near Park Street, Tay Township resulted in several officers patrolling the area with a similar vehicle being observed entering a business parking lot off Pine Street, Waubaushene.

Officers observed an occupant of the vehicle flee from the vehicle who was located by the officers nearby in an wooded area and became the subject of an impaired driving investigation.

Charged criminally in this investigation with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and further with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) is Brendan MARCHILDON 32 years of Penetanguishene.

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 11, 2024, was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Mason FEX Was Arrested

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Members of the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program.

On June 29, 2024, shortly before 2:00 a.m., officers conducted a RIDE program on Ottawa Street, West Nipissing. A motor vehicle approached the officers conducting the program, as a result of the investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving.

Mason FEX, 28-year-old from West Nipissing, was charged with, operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration over 80 and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 1, 2024, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Austin RIGGS Was Arrested

(NORTH BAY, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged with multiple offences after fleeing from police.

On July 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m. the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a white car travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 11 in Callander. It was travelling approximately 47 km/h over the posted limit. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled onto Peever Line.  

A short time later, Almaguin OPP were called to a single motor vehicle collision located on Forestry Road in Laurier Township. After investigation, it was determined this was the same vehicle that had fled from police earlier. As a result, the driver was arrested and vehicle towed.    

Austin RIGGS 23-years-old of Aurora, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to stop for police
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Class G1 licence holder- unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • Class G1 licence holder – carry front seat passenger
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on July 16, 2024.

Break & Enter – 2 Arrested

(BRANT, ON) – On Monday July 1, 2024, just after 10:00 p.m., members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on Cockshutt Road in the County of Brant for a reported break and enter.  

Officers attended the location and received information from the victim regarding a suspect on property attempting to steal the victim’s Recreational Vehicle. While at the scene, officers observed a male run out of the property into a forested area. Members of the Emergency Response Team along with the Canine Unit assisted in securing the area. Shortly after, OPP were able to locate and arrest two suspects, without issue.

As a result, Edward BECKHAM, a 28-year-old from Brantford has been charged with the following:

  • Break, Enter Place – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Mischief – Destroy or Damage Property
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order

Cheyanne FUREY, a 28-year-old from Brantford has been charged with the following:

  • Break, Enter Place – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Mischief – Destroy or Damage Property
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle

Edward BECKHAM has been held into custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 2, 2024. Cheyanne FUREY was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on August 15th, 2024.

Nikko YOUCKE Arrested – Meth A Factor

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after collision in Middlesex Centre.

On July 1, 2024, at 1:05 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Southminster Bourne in Middlesex Centre, was flagged down by multiple individuals involved in a collision.

Investigation revealed the driver of a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle from behind.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed an unknown drug. The driver was arrested and transported to the Oxford OPP detachment where tests from a Drug Recognition Expert were administered.

As a result, Nikko YOUCKE, a 20-year-old of St. Thomas, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Dangerous operation

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 6, 2024.

There were no injuries reported.

Scott CONNELLY From Lucknow Arrested – Details Released

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with impaired after police attend residence in Thames Centre for an unwanted person.

On July 1, 2024, at 2:16 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address on Thames Street in Dorchester, Thames Centre, for the report of an unwanted person.

Police arrived at the address and observed the unwanted person asleep in their vehicle.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Scott CONNELLY, a 52-year-old of Lucknow, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on August 26, 2024.
