North Huron Resident Arrested For Assault With Weapon #WaitInTheTruck

(NORTH HURON, ON) – On January 5th, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Township of North Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed several criminal acts against their partner.

A 36-year-old individual from North Huron has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault with a Weapon – Spousal – (two counts),

–      Assault – Spousal – (two counts),

–      Mischief – Domestic.

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Blyth Resident Charged – Details Released

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Blyth resident under the Highway Traffic Act with several charges.

On January 10, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were performing a traffic enforcement initiative when they detected a suspicious motor vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Sideroad 7 West within Wellington North Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old from Blyth was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • No name on commercial vehicle
  • Fail to surrender CVOR certificate
  • Permit operation of vehicle with load not secured as prescribed

The accused was also given warnings under the Highway Traffic Act for:

  • Operate commercial motor vehicle with load not secured as prescribed
  • Obstruct plate
  • Permit operation of unsafe combination of vehicles

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph at a later date.

14 Year Old Arrested For Break & Enter In Kincardine

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On January 11, 2025, at approximately 12:52 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break & enter at a business property along Queen Street, Municipality of Kincardine.

OPP Canine and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) located one individual a short distance from the scene; they were then taken in custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old from Kincardine, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break & Enter – CC 348(1)(a) – two counts
  • Theft under $5,000 – CC 334(b)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000 – CC 355(b)
  • Mischief under $5,000 – CC 430(4) – two counts

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Walkerton Court of Justice at a later date.

27 Year Old From Mount Forest Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On January 11, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Bruce Road 4 near Ontario Road, Municipality of Brockton.

On arrival, officers located a two vehicle collision. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from one of the involved drivers. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Natasha VARLEY, 27-years-old, of Mount Forest was charged with:

  • Impaired Operation (80 plus), CC 320.14(1)(b)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 12, 2025.

Assaults In Kincardine – 2 Arrested

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On January 5, 2025, at approximately 10:34 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault at an address along Upper Lorne Beach Road in the Municipality of Kincardine.

Investigation revealed that two individuals were engaged in a physical confrontation resulting in minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, two individuals were arrested and face charges.

Christopher BENOIT, 39-years-old of Sarnia, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon, CC 267(a)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 12, 2025 to answer to the charge.

Kerry ROBINSON, 34-years-old of the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged with:

  • Assault causing bodily harm, CC 267(b)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 19, 2025 to answer to the charge.

Daymien BRAK Arrested Again – Indecent Acts, Trespass, Etc.

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a series of incidents that took place in the Village of Blyth, Township of North Huron between Saturday November 30th, and Sunday December 1st, 2024.   

Huron County OPP received information that an individual had trespassed and committed offences on several properties in Blyth.

As a result of the investigation, a North Huron resident has been charged.

Daymien BRAK, 27 years of age from North Huron has been charged with the following offences:

–      Trespassing at Night – (four counts),

–      Criminal Harassment – besetting and watching – (two counts),

–      Criminal Harassment – repeatedly follow,

–      Indecent Act – (two counts),

–      Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House,

–      Fail to Comply with Probation.

The accused was arrested on December 11th, processed at the Huron OPP detachment, and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody.

Police continue to investigate the incidents and are seeking the public’s help. If anyone observed or had an interaction with a suspicious male between Nov 30th and December 1st, police would like to hear from you. Eli COOK Was Arrested Again

(BROCKTON, ON) – On December 10, 2024, at approximately 3:22 p.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on foot in a wooded area off of South Street in Walkerton to search for an accused in an unrelated matter.

Officers encountered an individual with outstanding warrants who attempted to flea on foot; however, ran in the direction where additional officers were situated. They were taken into custody without incident. A search incident to arrest led to additional charges.

As a result of the investigation, Eli COOK, 36-years-old of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine, CDSA 4(1)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on December 11 2024.

Aaron CHEYNE – Theft, Break & Enter

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Wellington County CSCU, and Huron County OPP detachment resulted in the seizure of stolen property and charges laid against a Huron East resident.

A break, enter and theft investigation in Central Huron was initiated by members of the Huron OPP detachment which led investigators to a suspect in the Municipality of Huron East.

On Tuesday, November 05, 2024, a search warrant was executed in Seaforth which resulted in the seizure of stolen property. One individual has been arrested and charged.

Aaron CHEYNE, 40 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

  • Break, enter a place – with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000,
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle,
  • Operation while Prohibited,
  • Theft,
  • Theft – Intent to Steal,
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property – (two counts).

The accused was processed and was later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice on December 9, 2024.

Aaron CHEYNE – Drunk Driving

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with an Impaired driving offence on October 21, 2024, in the Municipality of Central Huron. 

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, Huron County OPP officers arrested an individual who had driven their vehicle to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and later provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Aaron CHEYNE, 40 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 25, 2024.

Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested – Name Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Paisley-area resident with an Impaired driving offence following a single-vehicle-collision on October 6th, 2024, in the Municipality of Central Huron. 

Just after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, Huron County OPP responded to a report of a vehicle on its side in a ditch with the driver still inside the vehicle.  Police attended Bayfield Road near Airport Line and located the driver who was subsequently arrested for impaired operation. The driver was not injured.

The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Emily GOLEM, 32 years of age from Paisley, Arran-Elderslie has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act for careless driving and driving a motor vehicle with no permit.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 4th, 2024.

Plane Crash In Huron East

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron East Fire Department, and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to an airplane crash in the Municipality of Huron East on Saturday October 5th, 2024, just after 11:20 a.m.  

Police received a 911 call from the involved pilot after they had crash-landed in a farm field near Newry Road in Huron East. The lone 68-year-old pilot from Central Huron was located inside the plane and transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The pilot was attempting to land on a grass runway in a nearby field and was unable to stop before crossing over Newry Road and impacting the ground on the other side of the roadway.

Initially, emergency responders believed there were three other passengers on board the plane, but it was later determined that these individuals were good Samaritans that had stopped to assist the pilot. The OPP would like to extend their thanks for the assistance they provided at the scene.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again

(HURON KINLOSSS-, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver who was driving in a suspicious manner.

On February 23, 2024, at 12:55 a.m., the South Bruce OPP were on general patrol and observed a motor vehicle driving much slower than the posted speed limit. The vehicle then left the roadway and parked on the shoulder of the road. Officers spoke to the driver who was displaying signs of impairment. The police had the driver submit to a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST). The driver was arrested and transported to the South Bruce OPP Detachment for further tests by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE)

Ryan Mclean, 39-years-old of Goderich was charged with:

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on April 3, 2024.

Fatal Collision On 86

(ASHFIELD COLBORNE WAWANOSH TOWNSHIP, ON) – A two-vehicle motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck and trailer combination has claimed two lives. 

Just before 08:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, members from Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), South Bruce OPP, Huron County and Bruce County Paramedic Services, and Lucknow Fire Department responded to a location East of Lucknow on Amberley Road, also known as Bruce Road 86 in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a collision.

Upon arrival, emergency services located both heavily damaged vehicles and discovered that the driver of the passenger vehicle sustained fatal injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the pickup truck was also pronounced deceased at the scene. A second passenger in the pickup truck received serious injury and was flown by air ambulance to London for further treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital for minor injury.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Amberley Road was closed for several hours and has since been re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the collision is being investigated. 

The deceased driver was a 54-year-old Huron-Kinloss Township resident.

The deceased passenger was a 49-year-old Municipality of Brockton resident. 

The ages of the second involved driver and passenger are 49 and 39 years-of-age respectively.

25 Year Old From Chesley Arrested

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On February 17, 2024, at 2:10 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to Southgate Sideroad 41 in the Municipality of Southgate for a report of an altercation in a vehicle, and the passenger was kicked out of the vehicle.

The OPP attended and spoke to the driver of the vehicle who confirmed that a physical altercation took place therefore the passenger was kicked out. No injuries were reported. As police were speaking to the driver, they were displaying signs of impairment. The driver provided a sample of breath into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) which registered a fail. The driver was transported to the OPP Detachment in Teviotdale for further testing.

Melissa Grimes, 25-year-old from Chesley was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 7, 2024.

KING Arrested Again

(MEAFORD, ON) – On February 14th, 2024, at 1:38 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious person that resulted in an individual being taken into custody.

On February 14, 2024, at 1:38 a.m., around Russett Drive and Union Street in Meaford, a resident reported that an individual knocked on their door and left which appeared suspicious for the time of day. A description of the individual was provided to police. While the police were patrolling for the individual, police located a black Toyota Highlander parked in the same area of the suspicious person and the vehicle was blocking two other vehicles. A short while later an individual matching the description of the suspicious person was observed driving the Toyota Highlander. Police contacted the registered owner of the Toyota Highlander and found out that it was stolen through the overnight hours.

Police initiated a traffic stop. As a result, James King, 49-years-old of no fixed address was charged with:

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 X2

·      Theft of Motor Vehicle

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
