Barrie Police Want Everyone To Register Their Cameras With Them #PoliceState

The Barrie Police Service is proud to be joining police services across Ontario in launching the CamSafe program, as a replacement to the Security Camera Program, launched in 2021.

CamSafe, which was created by Bellville Police Service, allows participating police agencies to quickly locate registered security cameras in their communities. Police never have access to the camera feed, and you will only be contacted if an incident occurs in your area, and police believe your camera may have captured relevant footage. You are under no obligation to share your footage with police.

CamSafe offers an easier to use platform for residents, who can create their own account, add any cameras they have, and modify their own information if needed.

For police officers, footage from nearby homes and businesses can be extremely helpful when conducting an investigation and canvassing the surrounding area on foot takes significant time and resources. CamSafe allows officers to quickly identify the location of nearby cameras, and which residents or businesses to contact.

For residents already signed up with the Barrie Police Camera Program, you will need to create a new account on the CamSafe site.
