Justin Adamson Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On January 14th, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of an impaired driver. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

After speaking with the driver, the officer entered an investigation for operation while impaired.

As a result, 41-year-old, Justin Adamson, from Omemee was arrested and charged with

  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The driver was released from custody with a future court date and served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Scott DUCHENO – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A collision investigation in Delhi has resulted in impaired driving charges against an individual.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a single-vehicle collision on Herbert Avenue in Delhi, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was travelling on Herbert Avenue when it left the roadway and struck a tree. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the driver at the scene and took them into custody without incident. Further investigation revealed that the driver had tampered with property on the exterior of a residence before police arrived.

37-year-old Scott DUCHENO from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Taylor MONTREUIL Was Arrested

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired driving after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint.

On January 15, 2025, at approximately 3:08 p.m., the Iroquois Falls OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Municipal Road in Dundonald Township. Police located the vehicle and arrested the driver.

As a result of the investigation, Taylor MONTREUIL, 29 years-old, of Iroquois Falls was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on March 13, 2025.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from drug-impaired and alcohol-impaired drivers.

16 Year Old Facing Murder Charge

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual in connection with a suspicious death investigation, which has been ruled a homicide, in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On November 21, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police discovered the body of a deceased newborn in a residence in Alliston.

On January 15, 2024, a 16-year-old from the Town of New Tecumseth, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

·      First Degree Murder

·      Indignity to Dead Body

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to virtually appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on January 16, 2025, to answer to the charges.

The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

22 Year Old From Mount Forest Facing Charges

(MINTO TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Mount Forest resident with two provincial offences.

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were performing a traffic enforcement initiative when they detected a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop on Blind Line within Minto Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old from Mount Forest is charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Speeding 1 – 49 km/h over posted limit

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph at a later date.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(Kingston, ON) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and pronounced deceased after attempting to cross the 401 highway in Kingston overnight.

On January 16,2025 just after 01:30 am Frontenac OPP members were called to the 401 highway between Highway 15 and the Montreal Street exits for a collision involving a pedestrian crossing the highway. A vehicle collided with the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result.

Frontenac OPP assisted by Kingston Fire Rescue, and Frontenac Paramedic Service continued the investigation, which had the highway closed for several hours. A Technical Collision Investigator (OPP) and the Coroners Office of Ontario will continue to investigate the collision.

The identity of the deceased person has not been confirmed at this time. Frontenac OPP would like to request any witness information or dash cam footage to assist in this investigation.

Jennifer BABIN – Theft, Break & Enter, Etc.

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person in connection with an early morning break and enter.

On January 15, 2025, officers were investigating an unrelated matter which led them to the discovery of a break and enter at a business on Wellington Main Street in Prince Edward County. An individual was located inside the business and subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Jennifer BABIN, age 41, from Prince Edward County was charged with:

  • Theft under $5000
  • Break and enter
  • Mischief
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Prince Edward County on February 5, 2025.

35 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges.

On January 15, 2025, at approximately 10:25 a.m., Huronia West OPP officers were conducting general patrols in Springwater Township, in the area of County Road 90. The officer was alerted to speeding motorist and conducted a traffic stop.

While engaging with the driver, the officer noticed the driver showing signs of impairment which led into an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Tristan BATTLER SHAULE, 35-year-old of Barrie, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

27 Year Old Arrested Following Collision

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Single vehicle collision leads to refusal charge.

On January 15, 2025, at 7:26 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, were dispatched to Irish Drive in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a single vehicle collision.

The driver of the vehicle and lone occupant was placed under arrest.

As a result, Brett TYRRELL-HATHAWAY a 27-year-old of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 20, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Mother Puncher Arrested

A Port Hope youth has been charged with assault after a confrontation with his mother.

In the evening of January 13, 2025, the accused’s mother approached her son in their residence and began to question him regarding his prescribed medication.  The Accused became upset and struck his mother in her head with a closed fist. 

As a result, the youth was arrested and charged with assault. He is currently in custody, awaiting a bail hearing.

Shawn DOWNEY – Robbery X3

On January 14, 2024, at approximately 9:45 pm, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a robbery call at the Dairy Queen located at 5500 Ferry Street in Niagara Falls.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a male wearing a ski mask entered the restaurant, threatened an employee with a pocketknife, and demanded money from the register. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers quickly arrived at the scene and were able to locate the suspect a short distance away. Further investigation by 2 District Detectives revealed that the same individual was responsible for two additional robberies in the City of Niagara Falls.

On January 12, 2025, at approximately 8:40 pm, the suspect had entered a Subway restaurant at 5175 Victoria Avenue in Niagara Falls, confronted an employee with a box cutter knife, and demanded money from the register. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

On December 16, 2024, at about 6:45 pm, the suspect attended the Victoria and Maple Variety Store at 4623 Victoria Avenue. He approached an employee while brandishing a kitchen knife, again demanding money from the register. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed sum of cash.

There were no injuries as a result of these incidents.

Shawn DOWNEY (41 years old) of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery (3 Counts)
  • Disguise with Intent (3 Counts)

DOWNEY was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on January 15, 2025 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.

Zackery FRENCH Arrested Again

The Sarnia Police Service responded to a theft of a motor vehicle call in the 300 block of Talfourd Street on January 13th, 2025, at 11:47pm.  The homeowners were awaken to a large bang and observed that their second vehicle had been rammed out onto the roadway to accomodate the theft of their truck.  The second vehicle suffered significant damage.

The Sarnia Police Service began investigating and learned that the stolen vehicle had been involved in two other traffic complaints, in South-Western Ontario, one of which resulted in the driver failing to stop for police.

The Sarnia Police Service were able to obtain footage of a male, in possession of the stolen vehicle near Melbourne, Ontario which led to the male being positively idnetified.

On January 14th, 2025 at 8:42am, police recovered the stolen vehicle in a parking lot on Stuart Street in Sarnia and later located and arrested the male at a Mitton Street home.

Zackery FRENCH (22-years-old), of Muncey, Ontario is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code
  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order (3 Counts)
  • Failure to Comply with a Probation Order (2 Counts)

FRENCH was later released on bail by a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to appear next at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on February 13, 2025.

STPS Daily Update – 15Jan2025

School Violence 

An ongoing dispute between students required assistance from police, earlier this week. On Monday January 13th 2025, STPS were called after a concern for the well being of both students was brought forward by school administration. Through investigation, officers learned of an ongoing dispute between two 13 year old students that had escalated to threatening behaviour. Police spoke with all parties involved and provided resources to both the school and teens. ST25000760

Assault 

A 15 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday January 13th 2025, officers were called to investigate the report of an altercation between two students that occurred off of school property. Through investigation, police learned the accused and the victim had been in an ongoing argument about property the two had previously exchanged, when the argument turned physical resulting in minor injuries. As a result, the 15 year old was charged with one count of Assault and a warrant for arrest was issued. The individual attended police headquarters to turn themselves and subsequently released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25000759

Warrant Arrests 

A 33 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 14th 2025, officers on community patrol located the individual known to them to be wanted on an outstanding warrant with the Sarnia Police Service. The individual was arrested and transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where release documents were sent from Sarnia. ST25000807

A 30 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 14th 2025, while on unrelated call for service officers located the individual known to them to be wanted by our service on an outstanding warrant for Uttering Threats, stemming from an incident in December. The individual was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25000810

A 51 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 14th 2025, St. Thomas police were contacted by London police who had the person in custody on the strength of our warrant for several charges from 2024. STPS attended London and took custody of the individual who was transported to St. Thomas police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. Homicide On Lincoln St.

Police are investigating an incident that occurred Tuesday night as a homicide.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the 1100 block of Lincoln Street shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14.

A male victim was located with life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. The victim has since been pronounced deceased.

A visible police presence remains in the area.

The Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit are involved in the ongoing investigation.

21 Year Old Arrested For Attempted Murder

Police have arrested and charged a man for a January 16, 2023, shooting that occurred outside a Hampton Street residence.

After continued and extensive investigation, officers located and arrested a 21-year-old man from Waterloo who stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Conspiracy to commit murder

The accused was held for bail.

As this matter is before the courts, to ensure the integrity of the investigation, additional information will not be available at this time.
