Kenneth FINLAYSON – Drug & Weapons Charges

(Long Lake 58 First Nation, ON) – An investigation led by the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Northwest Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Greenstone OPP Detachment, has resulted in charges against one individual.

On February 5th, 2025, shortly after 1:00p.m., uniformed members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Beaver Street in Long Lake 58 First Nation. The investigation resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of a firearm and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Kenneth FINLAYSON, 30-years-old of Long Lake 58 First Nation, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code of Canada:

–      Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

–      Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

The accused was remanded into custody and later released; they are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Longlac on February 19, 2025.

Caleb SEBBEN – Drunk Driving

(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a single vehicle collision that led to the driver being charged with impaired.

On February 9, 2025, shortly after 11:00pm, Peterborough County OPP received a report of a vehicle that had been driving with no lights on, that had now gone off the road on Centre Line in Selwyn Township. A passerby approached the vehicle which was deep in the snow in the ditch facing the wrong direction of travel. Upon speaking to the driver, the passerby contacted the OPP.

Officers attended the scene and observed the vehicle facing north in the ditch adjacent to the southbound lane. The engine of the vehicle was on, and it appeared that the driver was attempting to drive out of the ditch. The officer made their way through waist high snow to the vehicle and made contact with the driver.

After speaking with the driver, the officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD) to which the driver complied. The test resulted in a FAIL reading and the driver was arrested.

Caleb SEBBEN (age 34) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive without proper rear light – motor vehicle

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 11, 2025.

SUTHERLAND Was Arrested

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – A traffic stop leads to a driver being charged with impaired.

On February 5, 2025, at approximately 1:12 a.m., members of the Iroquois Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Municipal Road near Frederick House Lake Road. 

Upon speaking with the driver officers suspected they had consumed an alcoholic beverage. They were transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Christine SUTHERLAND, 37 years old, of North Bay was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The driver was issued an Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 20, 2025, in Timmins.

John DILLON – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop in Lakeshore.

On February 2, 2025, at approximately 1:24 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Lakeshore Detachment, were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401, Municipality of Lakeshore, for a report of a single-vehicle collision. 

John DILLON, 57-years-old of Windsor, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

There were no injuries reported.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on February 11, 2025, to speak to the charges.

Mark VITTI – Drunk Driving

(COBALT, ON) – A vehicle stuck in a snowbank near a residence in Cobalt, leads to one person being charged with impaired.

On February 4, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle stuck in snowbank near a residence on Helen Street in Cobalt.

The OPP located the vehicle and the driver at the scene. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for further testing.

Mark VITTI, 38 years-of-age of Sudbury, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol 

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on February 25, 2025.

Bradyn ANDERSON – Aggravated Assault, Etc.

(Pembroke, ON) – An individual wanted on an arrest warrant for a serious incident in Pembroke, was located and arrested by the ROPE squad (OPP).

Quinton Racine, a 26-year-old male, from Westmeath was located and arrested just after 11:45 am on February 9, 2025 at an address in Pembroke.

The accused will remain in custody and will appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Pembroke on February 10, 2025.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant has now been issued for Bradyn ANDERSON, age 22 of Waltham, Quebec. who faces the Criminal Code charges of:

·      Assault with a weapon – section 267(a)

·      Aggravated assault – section 268

·      Forcible confinement – section 279(2)

·      Disguise with intent – section 351(2)

·      Mischief – section 430

2 Deceased Following Collision

(Huronia West, ON) – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed County Road 27 for a serious collision involving three vehicles, on February 8, 2025.

On February 8, 2025, at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers responded, alongside with local Firefighters and EMS, to a head on collision involving three motor vehicles on County Road 27 between Flos Road 11 East and Baseline Road.

An 80-year-old male and a 77-year-old female, both of Midland, were pronounced deceased at the scene, two others were transported to local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and one was transported a Toronto Area Trauma Centre.  

County Road 27 remained closed for most of the day on February 8, 2025, while members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Team conducted a reconstruction investigation.

Stephen FALLE – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- Suspected impaired driver drives to local convenience store, buys beer, used racial slurs to insult the store clerk before driving home.

On February 8, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver who had just left a local convenience store on Esten Drive South in Elliot Lake.

Prior to leaving, the regular customer/driver purchased beer and made derogatory comments towards the store clerk using racial slurs. A short time later police located the driver standing outside their residence, approximately 200 feet from the store. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that alcohol had been consumed. A subsequent arrest was made, and the driver was transported to Elliot Lake detachment for further testing.

Stephen FALLE, 57 years old from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 13, 2025, and was lodged overnight until sober. In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension.

2 More Impaired Drivers – Names Released

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers with impaired driving related offenses as the weekend is off to a dangerous start.

On Friday February 7, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers attended an address on Lorne Street in Gravenhurst while following up on an investigation when a vehicle pulled into the driveway. Officers spoke with the driver and subsequently arrested and charged 51-year-old Jason BRADFORD of Gravenhurst with Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 18, 2025 to answer to his charges.

A short time later, on Friday February 7, 2025, just after 10:00 pm., police responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Muskoka Road 169 near Burgess Street in Bala. A member of the public had stopped to assist and called police when they became concerned about the driver’s condition. Police arrested and charged 30-year-old Cole WALKER of Bala with Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a), Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b) and Fail to Comply with Probation CC 733.1(1). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 11, 2025 to answer to his charges.

BALDWIN Was Arrested Again

 (GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a local man with impaired driving along with several other offenses.

On Monday February 3, 2025, at 10:30 p.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting general patrol in the area of Sedore Road in Gravenhurst and stopped a vehicle on Beaver Ridge Road. The traffic stop soon became an impaired driving investigation and 27-year-old David BALDWIN of Gravenhurst was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

  • Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Refusal to Provide Sample CC 320.15(1)
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code CC 320.18(1)(a)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order CC 145(5)(a)

The accused was held in custody and will appear next in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 11, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Search Warrants Executed at Two Midland Locations

As a result of an ongoing investigation by members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) attached to the Southern Georgian Bay, Huronia West and Collingwood OPP Detachments assisted by uniform members and OPP Central Region Canine (K-9), search warrants were executed at two separate locations in the Town of Midland on the morning of February 6, 2025.

As a result, numerous stolen items along with a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine were recovered and the following individuals have been arrested and charged in connection to this investigation.

Kyle VARTIAINEN 33 years of Midland has been charged criminally with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (two counts)

And Further With

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

Peter Alfred NORMAN 40 years of Midland has been charged criminally with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • Theft Under $5000

Jade Marjorie BRIDEAU-PARTON 29 years of Midland has been charged criminally with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada

And Further With

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

These accused persons have been released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on March 20, 2025.

Also charged in connection to this investigation is Kathleen HUNT 33 years of Leamington who was arrested on November 19, 2024, on the following charges relating to this investigation and further related investigations.

  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime
  • Break & Enter a place and steal a firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm (three counts)
  • Theft Over $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Forgery (two counts)
  • Use, deals, acts on forged document (two counts)

And Further arrested and charged on February 6, 2025 with the offences of

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime (two counts)

The accused remains in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  at a future date.

Keith VAN DAM Wanted By Police

(PICTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has arrested one person and is searching for another, after a restaurant break-in in Picton.

The incident was reported on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Someone had entered the business on Main Street sometime overnight and made-off with a large quantity of alcohol.

As a result of the investigation one individual has been arrested by members of the Street Crime Unit and Prince Eward County Detachment, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit.

Lucas BOUDREAU, age 29 of Picton, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence
  • Theft under $5000

This accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on March 19, 2025.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Keith VAN DAM, age 37 of Prince Edward County, on charges of:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence
  • Theft under $5000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Jared ROFFEY – Speeding While Drunk

(TOWNSHIP OF ALNWICK/HALDIMAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an impaired driver who was first observed speeding.

On February 6, 2025, at around 9:15 p.m., OPP were on patrol in County Road 9 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand when a passenger vehicle was observed travelling at 113 Km/h in a posted 80 Km/h limit.

The vehicle was stopped, and the officer made a Mandatory Alcohol Screening demand for the driver to provide a sample of breath. With the result, the individual was arrested and transported to a local police station for further tests. A search revealed approximately 25 grams of Cannabis available to the driver.

Jared GOFFEY (age 35) from Warkworth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Drive motor vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

–      Speeding.

In addition to a future court date for the accused, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.

Shane KELLY Was Arrested

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with possession of stolen property after the execution of a search warrant at a residence.

On January 28, 2025, OPP members from the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Snowmobile ATV and Vessel Enforcement (SAVE) Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Larocque Street, West Nipissing.

A search of the residence led to the seizure of stolen property being, a 2009 Caterpillar 256C skid steer, a home-made trailer, and two-snowmobile sleighs.

As a result of the investigation, Shane KELLY, 35-years-of-age, from Field, was arrested and charged with: 

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 – two counts
  • Failure to comply with undertaking.

The accused was held for Bail Court, then remanded back into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 12, 2025, in North Bay.

Matthew PERUSCO – Drunk Driving

(Brant County, ON) – The Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a Kitchener resident with two criminal charges stemming from a traffic complaint.

On February 6, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., members of the Brant County OPP located a vehicle on Brant/Oxford Road, that had been the subject of a traffic complaint.

As a result of the investigation, Matthew PERUSCO, 46-year-old of Kitchener is charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Brantford on February 21, 2025.
