Teen Arrested Following Edged Weapon Incident

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A young person has been charged in connection with an investigation into property damage at a residence in Walsingham.

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 3:58 p.m., members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of property damage on South Street in Walsingham.

The investigation determined that two individuals were involved in an interaction inside a residence, during which one person used an edged weapon to damage property within the home.

As a result, a 15-year-old resident of Norfolk County was arrested and charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Mischief under $5,000 – two counts.

The accused, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.

Lance CHEVRETTE Was Arrested

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one person for brandishing a knife.

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a weapons call near James Street in Parry Sound. It was reported the individual was shouting and walking around with a knife.

The person was located, a short time later, with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine, OPP Remotely Piloted Aerial System (Drone) and OPP Aviation.

As a result, Lance CHEVRETTE, 31 years-old, of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·        Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

·        Fail to comply with release order

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Marc ALLAN Facing Weapon Charge After Threatening Landlord

(ORO-MEDONTE, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a weapons incident on Penetanguishene Road in Oro-Medonte involving a landlord and his tenant.

On November 30, 2024, at approximately 9:42 p.m., Orillia OPP were dispatched to a call regarding a weapon at a residence on Penetanguishene Rd. Orillia OPP responded immediately after learning that a male tenant left his unit and brandished a machete at another male party. Shortly after a 41-year-old male was taken into custody without incident.

Marc ALLAN of Oro-Medonte has been charged with:

  • Adult Possession of a Weapon Dangerous Purpose

The accused was held for a pending bail hearing.

The Orillia OPP considers this an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

Heiko SCHMITZ – Weapon

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Police arrested and charged one person after responding to a call of a man with a gun.

On August 13, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called in relation to a man on a bicycle with a handgun at an apartment complex parking lot on Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake. 

Police located the man and bicycle a short time later at a residence on Tokyo Crescent. The man attempted to evade officers, and after a short altercation, he was safely arrested. The handgun was safely recovered, and it was only then that police learned it was an airsoft pistol made to look like a real gun. 

Heiko SCHMITZ, 53-years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Possession of firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on August 14, 2024.

Restricted Weapon – 2 Arrested

(COCHRANE, ON) – Two arrests in three days in relation to possession of a prohibited weapon.

On June 10, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Fifth Street in the town of Cochrane, when an officer observed a person swinging nunchaku, a prohibited weapon.

As a result of the investigation, Centennial ARCHIBALD, 36 years of age of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Having open liquor in an unauthorized place

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2024.

On June 12, 2024, shortly before 2:30 p.m., the James Bay OPP responded to a report of shoplifting from a business on Highway 11 West, in Cochrane.

Police located two persons a short time later in relation to the shoplifting complaint on Second Street in Cochrane.

As a result of the investigation, Centennial ARCHIBALD, 36 years of age of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 – shoplifting.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.

Further, Erica TREPANIER, 31 years of age of Cochrane was found to be in possession of nunchaku, and was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.

Vance CAMPBELL Was Arrested

(Perth, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an individual, after someone was seen carrying a handgun in Perth.

It happened just before 3:30 p.m. on June 11, 2024, on Gore Street, near Mill Street.

Officers quickly responded, located the male and determined the gun was a replica handgun and not dangerous. Officers also seized a knife.

Vance CAMPBELL, age 24 of Lanark Highlands Township, has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on July 22, 2024.

Replica weapons are considered a weapon if the person uses or intends to use them to commit and offence. Police also face a split-second decision when faced with an individual armed with what looks like a real firearm.

Nickolas VANOOSTVEEN Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged with several offences following an investigation into an incident involving mischief and threats.

Around 12:59 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to and investigated a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen about an individual actively damaging the exterior of a residential building on Highway 3 in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

Responding officers located the individual on the property and took them into custody. It was also discovered that the individual had made repeated threats against other individuals living in the area.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 34-year-old Nickolas VANOOSTVEEN of Norfolk County:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Resist Peace Officer,
  • Criminal harassment – threatening conduct (two counts),
  • Mischief under $5,000.

The accused was detained in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe.

Kincardine Drug Bust – Names Released

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On April 18, 2024, at 7:32 p.m., officers with the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check a vehicle along Durham Street in Kincardine.

During the interaction with the occupants, officers observed illicit drugs in plain view. A search incident to arrest led to the seizure of a quantity of drugs and prohibited weapons.

As a result of the investigation, the South Bruce OPP have charged:

Gavin ARNOLD, 42-years-old, of no fixed address with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Fail to comply with probation (2 counts)

Victoria MARSH, 30-years-old, from the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)

Brendan RITCHIE, 34-years-old, from the Municipality of Meaford with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)

Preston RITCHIE, 23-years-old, from Saugeen First Nation with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

Kelly SIEFRIED, 39-years-old, from the Town of South Bruce Peninsula with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (2 counts)
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused parties were held for a bail hearing in Walkerton.

Elvin CANONIZADO Was Arrested

A male has been arrested after sexually assaulting a female and threatening her and another male with a firearm in Oshawa.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, at approximately 2:05 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Simcoe Street South and Athol Street. The suspect approached the victim, while she was alone on the street corner, and touched her inappropriately before walking away. The victim told her partner, and both parties confronted the suspect. The suspect made threats with a firearm toward the male and female before leaving the area.

Officers searched the area and located the suspect a short distance away. Police took the suspect into custody without incident. A search of the suspect located a concealed BB firearm that resembled a revolver.

The victims did not sustain any physical injuries.

Elvin CANONIZADO, age 28 from Oshawa is charged with: Sexual Assault, Uttering Threats x2, Possess Weapon for Committing Offence, Carry Concealed Weapon, and Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Offence.

Rory SEGUIN Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into an active weapons incident in Delhi.

At approximately 7:12 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, with assistance from the OPP Emergency Response Team and the OPP Canine Unit, responded to and investigated an active weapons incident at an address on Gibralter Street in Delhi, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual on the property was armed with an edged weapon and was making threats to harm police officers.

As a result, the individual was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 23-year-old Rory SEGUIN of Norfolk County:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.

The accused was detained in custody to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe.

Residents living along Gibralter Street and the surrounding area were instructed to stay indoors while officers investigated the incident. The shelter-in-place advisory has since been lifted.

Gibralter Street was temporarily closed between Crosier Street and Dalton Road but has since reopened.

The OPP would like to thank the residents of Delhi for their cooperation during the investigation.

Fake Gun = Real Response From Guelph Police

An imitation firearm prompted a very real police response downtown Thursday morning.

Just before 10:30 a.m. an employee of a business on Wyndham Street North reported a male with whom he had a previous interaction had walked by while looking at him and holding what the caller believed to be a real firearm.Seized imitation firearm

Several officers responded and less than five minutes later located the suspect walking on Wyndham Street North near Woolwich Street. Believing he could be in possession of a firearm officers ordered the male to the ground at gunpoint. A black and silver imitation firearm was located on his person.

During the search officers also located two Canadian passports believed to be stolen.

A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of possessing stolen identity documents. The man was also found to be wanted by another police service and was turned over on the outstanding warrant. He will appear in court on the Guelph charges May 21.

Repeat Offender With Manchette Arrested Following Foot Chase

(LENNOX & ADDINGTON COUNTY) – Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one person after the execution of a search warrant.

On April 2, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad attended a residence on Queen Street in Tyendinaga Township looking for a male who was breaching his conditions. The male fled the scene carrying a machete. After a brief foot pursuit, the male was arrested without incident and the machete was seized. Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment along with the East Region Community Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at the residence. Police seized a loaded shotgun, two rifles, a prohibited magazine, and various ammunition.

As a result of this investigation, OPP has Joseph DUNKLEY, age 36, of Tyendinaga, with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – three counts
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition – three counts
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm – three counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Fail to comply with release order – other than attend court – five counts
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to probation order – seven counts
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number had been tampered with

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.

Jason GROVES – Death Threats, Firearm

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one man after responding to a disruption at a local motel in Bracebridge.

On April 4, 2024 at 12:20 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a motel located on Manitoba Street in Bracebridge. Officers attended and conducted an investigation into the cause of the noise and subsequently arrested and charged 45-year-old Jason GROVES of Bracebridge with the following:

  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm CC 264.1(1)(a)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon CC 91(2)
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order CC117.01(1) X 2

He was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge for a bail hearing on April 4, 2024.

Keegan LAUZON Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an investigation into an incident of mischief in Simcoe.

At approximately 5:46 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, officers from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment were dispatched to investigate a report of a mischief in progress on Colborne Street South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual was throwing debris onto the road, posing a hazard to motorists in the vicinity. Additionally, the individual had caused damage to property at nearby businesses.

Responding officers located the individual at a location on Colborne Street South and took them into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 22-year-old Keegan LAUZON of Norfolk County:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property (three counts),
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Rene LAPIERRE – Threats & Firearms Charges

(BRANT, ON) – At approximately 7:05a.m., on March 31, 2024, members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to investigate a mischief complaint at a residence on Flagg Avenue in Paris.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the complainant had been receiving threatening messages from a male individual. Additionally, it was found that the complainant’s vehicle had been damaged by the same individual using a BB gun.

As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Rene LAPIERRE, from Paris has been charged with the following offences.

–      Utter Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

–      Mischief Under $5000

–      Careless Use of a Firearm

LAPIERRE was taken into custody without issues and held for a bail hearing.
