Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Eric WHALEN Arrested

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen vehicle and shortly locate the suspect, placing them into custody and recovering the stolen vehicle.

On December 18, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were on patrol when a report came in of a recent stolen vehicle within Harriston.

Police attended the scene and as a result of the investigation, and swift actions by uniform members of the OPP, Eric WHALEN, a 36-year-old of Harriston, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle

The accused was arrested on scene and has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on January 24, 2025.

WRPS Arrest Three Individuals in Waterloo Distraction Theft

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested three individuals in connection to a distraction theft in Waterloo.

On December 13, 2024, at approximately 5:20 p.m., police responded to a store in the area of Erb Street West and Fischer-Hallman Road after an employee recognized two females believed to be involved in a series of recent distraction thefts targeting elderly victims.

Officers attended and arrested the two females. Through investigation it was determined that one of the females had distracted the victim while the other female stole belongings from the victims’ purse while in the store.

A getaway vehicle was located in the parking lot and a male occupant was also arrested.

As part of the investigation, officers seized several bank cards, credit cards, cell phones and the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old female, a 56-year-old female and a 38-year-old male, all from Mississauga, were charged with:

  • Unauthorized use of a credit card
  • Theft under $5,000 (two counts)

The male was also charged with Breach of Probation.

The three accused were held for a bail hearing.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit and additional charges are expected.

Members of the public are encouraged to keep their personal belongings on them while shopping and do not leave personal belongings unattended in shopping carts.

Do You Recognize This Theft Suspect?

(HUNTSVILLE, ON.) – Officers from the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a series of shoplifting and are requesting the public’s assistance to identify the suspect.

On December 12, 2024, the suspect who appears to be a female, attempted to steal items from Muskoka Bear Wear in Downtown Huntsville. This suspect has done this repeatedly in recent weeks. Although this attempt was unsuccessful, the suspect has successfully stolen items prior to this incident.

Officers are looking to identify the three individuals. See attached photograph from video surveillance. Suspect is wearing long coat and winter hat. If you know this individual, please call 1-888-310-1122

McGrath & Thibault Arrested – Stolen Vehicle Recovered

(Bancroft, ON) – The Bancroft Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals in connection with a reported stolen vehicle incident at a dealership located on Highway 118 in Haliburton.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers observed the stolen vehicle, a white Jeep Rubicon, travelling eastbound. The suspects attempted to evade an initiated traffic stop and later abandoned the vehicle in Bancroft.

A female suspect, Sophie McGrath, was arrested nearby. A male suspect, Francis Thibault, was arrested shortly afterward.

Francis Thibault, a 34-year-old resident of Bowman, Quebec:

 – Dangerous Operation

 – Flight from Peace Officer

 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

 – Possession of a Schedule I Substance

 – Possession of a Prohibited Device

Sophie McGrath, a 30-year-old resident of Cantley, Quebec:

 – Dangerous Operation

 – Flight from Peace Officer

 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Theft of Snowmobile Results in Numerous Charges for Midland Resident

(MIDLAND,ON) – The report of a theft of a snowmobile from a William Street Midland address has resulted in a number of criminal charges for a Midland resident.

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded to the reported theft at approximately 8:42 a.m. December 11, 2024 of a red ski-doo from a William Street parking lot.

Through investigation, officers were able to locate and recover the stolen snowmobile and made an arrest in connection to the investigation.

Charged is Alexander WOZNICA 33 years of Midland with the following offences.

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Theft Under $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle
  • Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent

And Further with the Provincial Offence of

  • Driving while under suspension

.The accused was arrested in the afternoon of December 11, 2024 and has been released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on January 16, 2025.

Two Arrested After Theft At LCBO

(THESSALON)- Shoplifter and getaway driver attempt to evade police.

On December 4, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of liquor at the liquor store on Main Street in the Town of Thessalon.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the liquor store, took several bottles of liquor without attempting to pay, and walked out. The individual then fled northbound on Main Street in a getaway car.

While patrolling, police spotted the suspect white car traveling westbound on Highway 17 near Jarrett Road. When officers attempted to follow the vehicle, the driver tried to evade police, speeding dangerously while overtaking other westbound vehicles.

The white car then turned off Highway 17 onto Waltonen Road which leads to a dead-end (east of Bruce Mines). Officers located the white car parked on the road with two individuals inside. Both suspects were arrested at the scene.

Police also found four bottles of liquor hidden in a snowbank, which the suspects had attempted to conceal from the officers.

Mandeep BRAR, 23 years old from Brampton, was charged with:

  • Theft under $5000-Shoplifting
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Blind River on December 5, 2024.

The driver, Statlinjit SINGH, 30 years-old from Niagara Falls, was charged with:

  • Theft under $5000-Shoplifting
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 6, 2025.

2 Arrested Following Theft Investigation

(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for the public’s assistance regarding theft investigations in Brighton.

Several complaints were reported to police regarding a suspicious person attempting to gain access to vehicles between Ontario Street and Center Street early in the afternoon of September 8, 2024. Officers confirmed a theft had occurred upon arrival and a further incident was reported later that day where items were stolen from another vehicle in the same area.

Among the items stolen was a method of payment used to complete a transaction at a local convenience store on the same day. The OPP were looking to identify individuals sought in connection with the investigation.

On November 2, 2024, police arrested one of the persons involved in the incident.

Brooke GIGNAC (age 36) from Trenton, was charged with:

–       Theft under $5,000 from a motor vehicle – two counts

–       Use of credit card in the commission of an offence

–       Identity theft – obtain or possess another persons identity information

On December 4, 2024, officers arrested the other individual involved. 

As a result, Jami-Lee DEAN (age 46) from Port Hope, has been charged with:

–       Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Both the accused are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

Zachary FRISEN – Theft, Repeat Offender

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The theft of donations from a poppy box in Kirkland Lake has resulted in charges being laid against one individual.

On November 19, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from Legion Branch 87 regarding the theft of Remembrance Day poppies and monetary donations from a business on Government Road in Kirkland Lake.

As a result of the investigation, Zachary FRISEN, a 19-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:

·      Theft under $5000

·      Fail to comply with probation order

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 9, 2025.

Paul MARCONI – Fraud & Theft

(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid additional charges in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation. Additional victims have come forward.

With assistance from Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) an investigation was conducted. Officers laid charges in July of this year in connection with a lengthy fraud investigation looking into offences dating back several years, with numerous victims. The losses are estimated to be over approximately $500,000.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Paul MARCONI, a 65-year-old of Prince Edward County, has now been charged with additional offences:

  • Fraud over $5000 – two counts
  • Theft over $5000 – two counts

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on January 8, 2025.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information surrounding these incidents is being urged to contact Prince Edward County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Weapons Bust – 2 Arrested

(STONE MILLS TWP., ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized weapons and recovered stolen property in Stone Mills Township, with two people facing charges.

CSCU members, officers with the Lennox and Addington County Detachment, began an investigation October 19, 2024, after a theft at a hunt camp. One person was arrested on November 21, 2024.

Robin BLUNDELL, age 40 of Yarker, was charged with:

  • Theft
  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

This accused was released from custody following a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee.

A second individual was arrested November 25, 2024, following another theft. During this arrest, officers seized a firearm and a replica firearm which had been converted to fire marbles.  

Jordan ROMBOUGH, age 34 of Yarker has been charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapons for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order – six counts
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Theft
  • Theft under $5000
  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Failure to comply with a probation order – nine counts

This accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Matthew Tsiminos & Tonya REGO – Trespass & Theft

(MONO, ON) -Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a resident of Shelburne and a resident of Melancthon Township with multiple theft-related offenses following a police investigation.

On November 18, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers were dispatched to a rural farm property on 30th Sideroad in the Town of Mono for a reported break and enter. Upon arrival, officers found a dismantled cedar rail fence, with approximately 400 cedar rails piled up, along with a missing weed trimmer. It appeared that the suspects had stacked the cedar rails, likely intending to return later.

On November 21, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the same property. Upon arrival, officers found that the gate had been opened and the lock was missing. As they entered the property, they observed a vehicle exiting and stopped it for investigation. The two suspects were determined to be responsible for both the initial break and enter and the theft.

Matthew Tsiminos, a 39-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:

Theft From Legion, DAWSON & SCHELL Arrested #HowLowCanUgo

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people in relation to a daytime theft from the Royal Canadian Legion in Gravenhurst.

On Wednesday November 20, 2024, at approximately 3:20 p.m. two individuals entered the Royal Canadian Legion located on Veterans Way in Gravenhurst and stole a quantity of items, including irreplaceable World War 1 and World War 2 memorabilia, clothing and a wheelchair. Bracebridge OPP officers conducted an investigation into the theft and with the assistance of community members and the availability of surveillance footage nearby, the suspects were identified.

Police have charged 32-year-old Ashley SCHELL and 34-year-old Jesse DAWSON, both of Gravenhurst, each with Theft OVER $5000 CC 334(a). The accused parties will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 17, 2024 and January 14, 2025, respectively, to answer to their charge.

Paul HENSMAN Was Arrested For Theft

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into a shoplifting incident in Simcoe.

At approximately 4:23 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a theft on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual entered a business, concealed an item on their person, and left without paying.

Officers later found the suspect on Lot Street in Simcoe and took them into custody without incident.

31-year-old Paul HENSMAN of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Monday, November 25, 2024.

DOLINSKI, DOLINSKI & SOKOLOWSKI Arrested For Theft

(SOUTH HURON/GODERICH, ON) – On November 12, 2024, Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation involving shoplifting at retail stores in both Goderich and Exeter. Three individuals were captured on video surveillance after departing the stores with stolen goods.

On November 20, 2024, police were contacted by retail staff at a business on Huron Road in Goderich after they observed the same individuals enter the store again.

Officers in the vicinity were able to arrest two of the suspects shortly after the call to police, and after a search of the area, officers later arrested the third suspect.

Police have charged the three accused’ with the following offences:

Antoni DOLINSKI, 35 years of age from Mississauga has been charged with:

–      Theft Over $5,000,

–      Theft Under $5,000.

Armando DOLINSKI, 43 years of age from Brampton has been charged with:

–      Theft Over $5,000,

–      Theft Under $5,000.

Mateusz SOKOLOWSKI, 28 years of age from Mississauga has been charged with:

–      Theft Over $5,000,

–      Theft Under $5,000.

All three accused were held in custody and later released. They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Goderich Ontario at a later date.

Cheyanne KOCIELSKI – Theft & Assault

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment responded to a theft report from a Beverly Street West business in the County of Brant.

Employees contacted police and provided information on a theft suspect who removed a quantity of merchandise without paying.

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, as a result of the investigation, police have charged Cheyanne KOCIELSKI, 36 years-old from the City of Brantford with the following offences:

·      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

·      Resist Peace Officer

·      Assault a Peace Officer

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford on December 19, 2024.
