Kyle SCOTT Arrested Following Break & Enter

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been arrested in connection with a break and enter.

On Sunday, February 25, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a break-and-enter at an address on Grigg Drive in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that at some point in the evening or early morning, an unidentified individual or individuals attended the location, forcefully entered a storage unit on the premises, and stole a black 2011 Miska flatbed trailer, a white and orange Bobcat MT85 skid-steer loader and video surveillance equipment.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle SCOTT, 37-years-old of Norfolk County has been charged with the following Criminal Code offence:

  • Possession Stolen Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on April 9, 2024.

The trailer and skid-steer have been recovered; however, the investigation is continuing.

Tarrick Andrew FAKIRA-MARTIN – Break & Enter, Theft, Etc.

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On February 21, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported break in at a residence on Fourth Line , Mapleton. It was reported that two parties had broken into a home and had fled on foot. Police responded located two stolen vehicles near the residence: A beige pick-up truck from Wallenstein and a white Sport Utility Vehicle from London. One party was located on a nearby property and charged.

On February 21, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., OPP responded to a theft call on Clyde Street, Elora. It was reported that an individual had stolen a bicycle and had damaged it. Police responded and located the same suspect from the early occurrence and laid further charges.

Tarrick Andrew FAKIRA-MARTIN, 30-years-old of London, has been charged with Break-Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, Break-Enter a Place – with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, and two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code. Further, the accused was also charged with Theft Under $5000, and Mischief, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on April 16, 2024.

Cheryl JACKSON – Assault & Theft

(Marmora and Lake, ON) – On the 03rd of March 2024, members of the Central Hastings detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an address in Marmora regarding a theft and an assault. Officers attended and arrested one individual who was also wanted on outstanding warrants.

As a result of the Investigation, Cheryl JACKSON, 63 years of age from Marmora Ontario has been charged with assault and Theft under $5000.

JACKSON was later released on an undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on the 28th of March 2024.

Do You Recognize This Suspect?

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a theft from a retailer in Fergus. At approximately 8:00 p.m., on March 2, 2024, the suspects entered the store, placed nearly $1000 in product in a black duffle bag and left the store, making no attempt to pay for the items.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person responsible for the theft. Surveillance photos attached.

Jonathon SYLVESTER Arrested Again

(MIDLAND, ON) – Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment wrapped up several recent investigations with an arrest on March 5, 2024

At approximately 6:57 a.m. March 5, 2024, officers responded to a theft in progress at a Vinden Street, Midland retail store. Officers were able to locate the suspect and arrested Jonathon SYLVESTER 35-years of Christian Island at a nearby taxi stand and seized a quantity of fentanyl, bank cards along with lottery tickets. The accused was transported back to Detachment for further investigation.

As a result of further investigation, the accused was arrested on a warrant as the accused from an incident also investigated by Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers. On Feb 26, 2024, an investigation was commenced after a Peel Street, Penetanguishene resident reported the theft of a locked 2014 Honda CRV. Through the officers investigation, the accused was identified and the vehicle was located and returned to the owner.

The accused was held for a bail hearing on the following criminal offences.

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

and further charged with the following criminal offences in relation to the theft of vehicle occurrence.

  • Fraud Under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

Matthew GORRIE Arrested – Meth A Factor

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London area resident with several criminal offences following an investigation on February 20th, 2024. 

Just after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, a Huron County OPP officer was off duty in the Municipality of South Huron, Exeter when they received information of a shoplifting incident that just occurred at a business located on Thames Road East in Exeter. The officer followed the suspect a short distance outside and advised the suspect that they were a police officer and produced their police badge. The suspect resisted arrest and was quickly subdued by the officer. Additional officers arrived shortly after and secured the suspect.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP detachment for processing. The stolen items valued at over $750 were recovered.

Matthew GORRIE, 33 years of age from no fixed address in the London area has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5,000,

–      Resist Peace Officer,

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine.

The accused was held for a bail hearing, and later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Scott Mackenzie Arrested

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – An individual was arrested and charged after a vehicle that was stolen from the Toronto Police Service area on March 1, 2024, was located in the City of Owen Sound.

On March 1, 2024, Toronto Police Service sent a “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) for a stolen white Ford Transit van to the police services in the area. On March 2, 2024, at 12:06 a.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed the stolen vehicle being driven in the City of Owen Sound. The Grey Bruce OPP attempted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle by activating their lights, but the stolen vehicle continued without stopping. The stolen vehicle finally stopped when a second OPP vehicle arrived.

Scott Mackenzie, 48-years-old of Thunder Bay was charged with:

·      Theft of motor vehicle

·      Theft over $5000 of a motor vehicle

·      Flight from police

·      Driving while under suspension X2

·      Insecure load

·      Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 28, 2024.

Michelle DAVIS – Theft & Assault

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On March 1, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a grocery store on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.

The complainant reported that a female had items in her possession and departed the store without paying for them. A store employee confronted the female regarding the theft and was subsequently assaulted. Police attended and arrested the female.    

Michelle DAVIS, 49-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 – shoplifting
  • Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 11, 2024.

Hero Citizen Defends Community And Arrests Criminal – Police Eventually Show Up #TakeBackYourCommunity #StandYourGround

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON) – A report of an individual attempting to enter a parked vehicle to the OPP Communication Centre at approximately 12:12 a.m. March 2, 2024, by a Fox Street, Penetanguishene resident caused members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment to patrol the area for a suspect. Shortly afterwards, a Peel Street resident flagged down the officers as they had encountered and apprehended an individual on their property who was attempting to enter vehicles.

Officers arrested at the scene a person known to them as Tyler SYLVESTER 30-years-old of Christian Island and after investigation the following criminal charges were laid.

  • Trespassing at Night (two counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (two counts)
  • Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle

and further was arrested on an outstanding warrant for an Anishinabek Police Service Investigation.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

Joshua PENTON Arrested For Theft

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – A Pembroke resident is facing multiple Criminal Code (CC) charges after a series of shoplifting incidents at a large retail store in Laurentian Valley Township. Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating after the first incident on February 25, 2024. Further incidents of tools and power tools being stolen were reported on February 27 and 28, 2024. 

As a result of the investigation 32-year-old Joshua PENTON of Pembroke has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Theft under $5000 shoplifting – three counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance on March 4, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

Repeat Offender Brenda Lee CROCKATT Arrested Again

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest after a series of thefts were reported in Pembroke. 

The incidents took place between February 21-26, 2024, at various locations in the City of Pembroke. Items stolen include groceries, purses from shopping carts and vehicles.  

As a result, Brenda Lee CROCKATT, age 66 of Pembroke, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

·        Theft under $5000 – five counts

·        Breach of probation

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 2, 2024.

OPP Report Sexual Assaults In Corporation Of North Huron

(NORTH HURON, ON) – On February 15th, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Township of North Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had committed criminal acts against their partner dating back as far as 2013 – present.

A 34-year-old individual from North Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Assault – (two counts),

–      Forcible Confinement,

–      Theft Under $5,000,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death,

–      Mischief – Domestic,

–      Sexual Assault,

–      Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition or Prohibited Device – (three counts),

–      Breach of Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon – (three counts).

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and later remanded into custody with a court date scheduled for the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Berry HILLIARD & Ryan O’KANE – Theft

(LANSDOWNE, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people following a theft investigation.

On February 25, 2024, just before 2:00 a.m., Leeds County OPP officers were conducting ongoing proactive patrols in Front Leeds-Lansdowne Township, following several reports of suspicious activity.

Two men were observed within the lightly forested area. The Emergency Response Team and the area Canine Unit assisted in arresting the two. Copper wire and tools used to obtain the wire were seized.

Berry HILLIARD, age 53, and Ryan O’KANE, age 45, both from Kingston, are facing the following Criminal Code charges:

  • Theft Under $5000 – one count
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 – one count

Both individuals were released by way of an Undertaking and are scheduled to appear in the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice on April 5, 2024, to answer to these charges.

Thomas MERRIMAN – Arson & Theft

(TOWNSHIP OF CRAMAHE, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest in relation to a person wanted for separate incidents of arson and theft.

On October 31, 2023, Police responded to a call regarding an item of furniture that had been set on fire outside an address on King Street East in Colborne. The accused had left the area prior to police arrival.

On November 8, 2023, a complaint was made regarding theft from a commercial premises on King Street East in Colborne. The victim had discovered that the incident had occurred earlier in the day and reported to Police.

As a result of both investigations, an individual was identified and officers attended an address in Colborne where they believed the accused to be.

On February 20, 2024, Northumberland OPP made an arrest in relation to both incidents.

Thomas MERRIMAN, 29-years-old, of Colborne, was charged with the following:

–      Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting

–      Arson – damage to property

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

Repeat Offender David DUCHENE Arrested After Robbing 3 Banks

A 41-year-old male is facing numerous charges after robbing three banks in three days in Durham Region.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members from East Division attended a robbery call at the TD Bank located at 570 Longworth Avenue in Bowmanville.   A male entered the bank and demanded cash.  He indicated he had a firearm; however, no gun was seen.  The male left the bank and left the area in a red sedan.

On Thursday, February 22, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members from North Division attended a robbery call at the TD Bank located at 165 Queen Street in Port Perry.   A male entered the bank and demanded cash.  He indicated he had a firearm however no gun was seen.  The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the bank.

On Friday, February 23, 2024 at approximately 2:30 p.m., members from North Division responded to a robbery call at the Scotiabank located at 1 Douglas Road in Uxbridge.  A male entered the bank and demanded cash.  He indicated he had a firearm however no gun was seen.  The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the bank.

The robbery unit attended the area and located the male a short distance away.  He was taken into custody without incident.

David DUCHENE, age 41 of Ottawa is charged with Robbery x3, Disguise with Intent x3, Fail to Comply with Probation x2, Fail to Comply with Release Order and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
