(Havelock Belmont Methuen Township, ON) – On Tuesday June 10 members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a Break and Enter to a residence that occurred on Blairton Road.

On June 9, between 2pm and 7pm, unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the victim’s residence. Once inside they stole a Laptop Computer and several bottles of Alcohol.

The suspect then fled the scene.

(NOTTAWASAGA)- On Saturday, June 7, 2014, Officers of the Nottawasaga Detachment, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were involved with two Community events, “Bike Like the Best” in Alliston and the “Relay for Life”, fundraising event also held in Alliston.

The Officers who attended these events have mentioned to me the overwhelming support shown by our citizens about the services we provide to keep them safe and being able to enjoy the community in which they live.

I wish to personally thank those members of the community that took the time to support our efforts and express their gratitude. Comments of this nature, while not often expressed, are sincerely appreciated and at the end of day build strong community relations.

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – A pocket watch recovered during a break and enter investigation may have some significance to someone and police are hoping to return it to its rightful owner.

On May 15, 2014 police made an arrest as a result of a break and enter investigation. A number of items were recovered, one of which was a 14 carat gold pocket watch with a unique engraving on it.

“The inscription on the watch gives us the impression that this piece might have a lot of meaning to someone as it makes reference to a Reverend from 1897. If someone lost it or had it stolen we are hoping we can reunite it with its owner” says Provincial Constable Laurie Houghton.

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Tuesday the 10th of June 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a break and enter at the Switchyard youth centre on Hastings Heritage Way in the Town of Bancroft. Investigation revealed that sometime after 8:00 p.m. the previous night, the building was forcibly entered. Candy was reported stolen youth centre.

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers are investigating the theft of a Kubota side by side recreational vehicle from a White Swan Road property, in the County of Brant.

Sometime between 6:00 p.m. June 9th, 2014 and 9:00 a.m. June 10th, 2014 suspects stole a Kubota RTV 900XT orange side by side recreational vehicle from the property.

(MISSISSIPPI MILLS, ON) – On June 7, 2014 at approximately 11:40 pm The Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store on Bridge Street in Almonte. A male suspect entered the store, approached the clerk and used a weapon to threaten the clerk and demand money. The male suspect took a small amount of cash from the register and left the store in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured.

Members of the Lanark County OPP attended the scene and were assisted by the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU).

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating two break and enters over the weekend in the City of Kenora.

On Monday June 9, 2014 shortly after 12:00 noon the Kenora OPP received a call that a home in Lakeside had been broken into sometime between May 29 and June 9, 2014. Unknown suspect(s) had forced entry to the home and stolen various items including alcohol and jewelry.

Another break and enter was reported on June 9, 2014. Police were advised that sometime between June 6 and June 9, 2014 unknown suspect(s) had forced entry into an unoccupied building on Ocean Avenue in Kenora. There was minor damage to a window and nothing was stolen.

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 7, 2014 at approximately 3:30 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling in the area of the Sixth Line and the Eramosa-Garafraxa Town Line in Centre Wellington Township following up on another criminal investigation.

Officers stopped a 1997 Ford Aerostar van that was in the area and spoke with the male driver. Police immediately detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and noted obvious signs of impairment as well as an open case of beer on the front passenger floor. The driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and transported back to the Rockwood Operation Centre for further testing.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Joshua HERWYNEN aged 18 of Centre Wellington Township has been charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 MGS contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, Young Driver – BAC Above Zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Person Under 19 Having Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 24, 2014 to answer to the charges.

(HAMILTON TWP, ON) – On June 8, 2014 at 2:40pm Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two car motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Burnham St and Telephone Rd in Hamilton Township.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries in what could be best described as a ‘head on’ collision.

As a result of observations by the police officers at the scene, the male driver of one of the vehicles was arrested for impairing driving. He was taken to the Cobourg OPP detachment where he provided breath samples.

As a result of these tests, Patrick Devison 20 years old of Port Hope is charged with the following offences:

– Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle

– Drive motor vehicle while exceeding .08 mg (over 80)

– Dangerous driving

– G2 licence, Blood Alcohol Content above zero

Devison was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on June 18, 2014 at 9:30am.

(Cavan Monaghan Township, ON) – On Monday June 10, at approximately 11:40 a.m., members of the Peterborough County OPP, and Cavan Monaghan Fire Department were called to investigate a report of a structure fire at a residence on Centre Street in the Village of Millbrook.

Upon arriving at the residence emergency personnel found and active fire on different levels of the structure. No tenants or animals were present at the time of the fire.

Fire Fighters were able to quickly control and extinguish the fire ensuring no adjacent buildings were damaged.

Although no one was injured by the fire three firefighters needed medical attention due to heat exhaustion.

Police and Fire department investigators have deemed the fire to be suspicious in nature and the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to conduct an investigation into the incident.

Investigators from the Peterborough County OPP crime unit and members of the Forensic Identification Services are involved in the investigation.

(Muskoka Lakes, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) of the Bracebridge detachment investigated a fatal motorcycle crash on the weekend.

On June 7, 2014 at 3:50 pm members of Bracebridge OPP responded to a crash on Highway 141, North of Coate Road, Muskoka Lakes, District of Muskoka. The motorcycle had driven off the roadway and impacted a tree. The driver of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was brought to hospital by paramedics.

The driver of the motorcycle Bruce NEDDOW, 66-year-old male from Nipissing Township has died from his injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers were advised of a road rage incident that had started at the Paris Fairgrounds and ended on Powerline Road, in the County of Brant.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. Saturday June 7th, 2014, officers were advised that a collision had taken place on Powerline Road near Bishopsgate Road. After further investigation officers were advised that a male had stopped abruptly, and then reversed into a vehicle. Two adult men and two male youths then exited the reversing vehicle, brandishing weapons.

All four accused from the City of Brantford and the County of Brant are facing the following criminal charges

Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Assault with a Weapon

The youth accused are scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on July 2nd and the two adult males are scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on July 4th, 2014 to answer to the charges.

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP) -On June 7, 2014, at approximately 4:17 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to the Centre Wellington Community Centre in Fergus for an intoxicated male at a community event. Police located the male in the food tent and he displayed signs of alcohol consumption. During the investigation, officers discovered that the male had entered in to a court order not to consume alcohol and was not following his curfew.

Noad GEBREMICAEL age 35 of Guelph is charged with Breach of Recognizance X2 contrary to the Criminal Code. He was held for bail court to answer to the charges.

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers are investigating a break and enter to the Paris Canadian Tire Centre on Grand River Street north, in the County of Brant.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday June 9th, 2014 suspects entered the garden centre and removed three riding mowers, six kayaks, a barbeque, lawn furniture and loaded it all into a U-Haul truck. The suspects left travelling south bound on Grand River Street.

(NEW TECUMSETH) On June 6, 2014 at 10:35pm, the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on 8th Avenue between Tupper Blvd. and Morrison Avenue, New Tecumseth. Also attending were New Tecumseth Fire Service and Paramedics.

Investigation revealed a 2002 Suzuki SVS, color silver, collided with a concrete barrier. The 32 year old driver, Todd Collins, of New Tecumseth, was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against the driver of the motorcycle.
