BOBCAT UTILITY VEHICLE STOLEN FROM OLD ONONDAGA ROAD PROPERTY

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers are investigating the theft of a Bobcat utility vehicle from an Old Onondaga Road property, in the County of Brant.

Sometime between 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday June 8th, 2014 suspects entered the property and loaded the Bobcat onto a trailer. The Bobcat is described as black and orange in colour and is a four wheel model with a dump box.

TWO QUADS STOLEN FROM PAULINE JOHNSON ROAD PROPERTY

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers are investigating the theft of two ATV’s from a Pauline Johnson Road property, in the County of Brant.

Sometime between 10:00 p.m. June 7th, 2014 and 10:30 a.m. June 8th, 2014 suspects entered a detached garage and removed a 2014 Kawasaki HF6 ATV, and a 2004 Cana Out ATV. Both ATV’s were pushed to Pauline Johnson Road and loaded onto an awaiting vehicle.

Hot Air Balloon Hard Landing Injures Two

(ESSA)- On June 6, 2014 at approximately 9:10pm, the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a hot air balloon carrying 12 passengers making a hard landing near 5856 Highway 89 in Essa Township.

Nottawasaga OPP investigation reveals that two of the passengers were thrown from the passenger area on landing. They were treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

TWO MALES ARRESTED FOR STEELING FROM VEHICLES

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On June 9, 2014 just before midnight the Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment was made aware of suspicious males in the area of Muskoka Rd #3 north in the town of Huntsville. Neighbours observed an interior light on in a neighbouring driveway, and observed two males in the area at the same time. Officers patrolled the area locating the two males.

As a result of an investigation Brennan SMITH (19yrs) and Corey HOWARD (22yrs) both of Huntsville were arrested and eventually charged with Trespass at Night and Possession of Stolen Property obtained by Crime under the Criminal Code of Canada. Both of them will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville on July 9, 2014 to answer to their charges.

Huntsville OPP would like to remind the residents of Huntsville to take their valuables out of their vehicles, leave their vehicles in well-lit areas, and always lock their vehicles.

BREAK-IN AND MISCHIEF TO RESIDENCE

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS ON) – On Monday, June 9, 2014 at approximately 9:18 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break-in at a residence on Concession 3 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Culprit(s) forcibly entered the residence through a rear door. Although nothing appears to have been taken, a basement wall was damaged.

Police remind the public to contact their local police service if they observe any suspicious persons, vehicles or activities.

MOOSONEE OPP HOLDS ONTARIO LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN

(MOOSONEE, ON) – On June 8, 2014 members of the Moosonee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) hosted the 2014 Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Ontario Special Olympics (OSS).

Members of the Moosonee OPP as well as a small contingency of runners gathered at 11:00 am and ran a 5 kilometre loop to help raise awareness and funds for the OSS.

The run concluded at the Moosonee OPP Detachment where a charity barbeque was held from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. With the assistance of a power outage throughout the town, the barbeque was a huge success. In total Moosonee helped to raise over $1000 that will directly benefit OSS athletes in Northeastern Ontario.

The Moosonee OPP would like to thank all participants, volunteers and the citizens of Moosonee that turned out to show their support. A special thanks goes out to the Northern Store, Two Bay Enterprises and the Sky Ranch Restaurant without whom this event would not have been possible.

MOTORCYCLE STOLEN FROM TUTELA HEIGHTS PROPERTY

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers are investigating the theft of a motorcycle from a Tutela Heights residence, in the County of Brant.

Sometime between 11:30 p.m. June 7th, 2014 and 7:00 a.m. June 8th, 2014 suspects pushed a 2014 Yamaha CRR to Tutela Heights Road and loaded it on an awaiting vehicle.

THEFT OF FLOWERS

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Monday, June 9, 2014 at approximately 8:11 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from Jet Variety located on Sykes St., S., Meaford, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Just before midnight on June 6th, 2014, a woman was observed taking a flower planter from outside Jet Variety store. The suspect was identified and charged with theft under $5000 – shoplifting.

Krystal Joanne LOWE, 28, of Meaford, is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on July 17, 2014.

DRINKING DRIVER NABBED BY RIDE CHECK OFFICERS

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers were conducting a RIDE check in the Town of Paris, in the County of Brant.

At approximately 10:21 p.m. Saturday June 7th, 2014, officers were conducting a RIDE check at Market Street and Silver Street in the Town of Paris. Officers stopped a blue Ford pickup truck and while the officer was talking to the driver he smelled the odour of alcohol. The male driver was given the Roadside Screening Test and as a result he was taken to the County of Brant OPP detachment for Intoxilyzer Tests.

Lyle LIGHTFOOT 38 years of age from Haldimand County is facing the following criminal charge

Drive over 80 milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content

The accused is scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on June 20th, 2014 to answer to the charges.

STOP SIGN THEFT ENDANGERS LIVES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a theft at an Old Hill Road and Front Road, Turkey Point, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Monday, June 9, 2014 at approximately 11:06 a.m., police received a call from a concerned resident after noticing that unknowns removed a stop sign from the intersection of Old Hill Road and Front Road.

Street sign theft occurs when street signs are stolen, often to be used as decorations. Sometimes considered to be a prank, the theft is often costly and inconvenient. This is extremely dangerous to the motoring public and could have caused a serious or even fatal collision for anyone not familiar with the roadways in Norfolk County.

OPP INVESTIGATING BREAK AND ENTER

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a Break and Enter at a Gunton Drive, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, June 9, 2014 in the early morning hours, unknowns attended the address and gained entry in the residence. Once inside, unknowns removed a carton of cigarettes, iPad, MP3 player and a cellular phone.

OPP INVESTIGATING MISCHIEF

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating an act of mischief at a Highway 3, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

Between Friday, May 30, 2014 and Friday, June, 6, 2014, unknowns attended the Bethel Baptist Church and entered two buses that were parked in the parking lot of the church.

Once inside, unknowns proceeded to open and pour motor oil throughout the bus and open various first aid kits. Unknowns also removed the log books for both vehicles and damaged the windshield wipers on the buses before fleeing from the area.

The Norfolk County OPP Detachment is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact the police. If anyone is found committing acts of mischief, appropriate charges will be laid.

FRAUD CHARGES AFTER REPORTED THEFT OF TOOLS

(TRENT HILLS, ON) – Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) – Street Response Team (SRT) conducted a fraud investigation in conjunction with investigators from Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Company.

In October, 2013 a construction trailer was reported stolen to the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). The trailer was recovered one day later with no loss of property reported. The owner made a claim to his insurance company reporting a large quantity of construction tools had been stolen.

The joint investigation revealed that the accused made false claims to the insurance company and received approximately $8.000.00 in payments.

On Wednesday June 4, 2014 OPP completed this investigation and arrested Korey Robert BUCKLES, 36 from Campbellford, Ontario.

The accused has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

Fraud under $5,000 – 2 counts
Make forged document – 2 counts
Utter / use forged document – 2 counts

He was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday July 8, 2014 in Brighton, Ontario.

OPP INVESTIGATING MISCHIEFS – MALE ARRESTED AND CHARGED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has arrested a 28 year old male after police investigated several mischiefs at various Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario addresses.

Between Thursday June 5, 2014 and Monday, June 9, 2014 several businesses had graffiti spray painted on their building and signs along with various garbage bins and mailboxes throughout Simcoe.

As a result of investigation, police have arrested and charged a 28 year old male.

Charged with Mischief Under $5000 X 17 is 28 year old Vladimir PLASAJ of Norfolk County, Ontario.

He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED IN THE BLUE MOUNTAINS

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Sunday, June 8, 2014 at approximately 4:27 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen vehicle from a Grandma Lambe’s property on Hwy. 26 in the Municipality of Meaford.

The vehicle, a 2006 Ford F150 Supercab pick-up truck, bearing Ontario licence plate 186 3MR, was stolen sometime over night. It was unlocked and the keys were inside.

On Monday, June 9, 2014 at 7:10 a.m. the vehicle, which was abandoned, was located on the 10th Line in The Blue Mountains by Collingwood OPP. There was no apparent damage to the vehicle.

The OPP remind motorists to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of plain view.
