11 Impaired Drivers Arrested!

(KAPUSKASING, HEARST, COCHRANE, ON) – Officers from the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Hearst, Kapuskasing and Cochrane, have charged 11 individuals with impaired driving offences in separate incidents throughout May and June 2025.

1.

On Sunday May 4, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m. the James Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on Front Street in Hearst, and officers determined the driver had been consuming a drug.

As a result, Marianne NODIN, 39 years-of-age from Constance Lake, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Driving while under suspension

 The accused was released from custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 10, 2025, in Hearst.

2.

On Monday May 5, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m. the James Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on Brunelle Road North in Kapuskasing, and officers determined the driver had been consuming a drug. The driver then subsequently refused a portion of the resulting drug recognition evaluation.

As a result, Lee REITMAYER, 46 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Failure or refusal to comply with demand

 The accused was released from custody and is next set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 21, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

3.

On Saturday May 17, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m. the James Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on Government Road West in Kapuskasing, and officers determined the driver had been consuming a drug.

As a result, Angele CARON, 43 years-of-age from Port Colborne, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

 The accused was released from custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 7, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

4.

On Thursday May 22, 2025, the James Bay OPP responded to a call from an off-duty OPP officer, reporting a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11, west bound from Kapuskasing. Before officers were able to intercept the vehicle, the same vehicle was reported for almost causing a head on collision.

The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 11 in Opasatika, and officers determined the driver had been consuming a drug.

As a result, Martin FAFARD, 48 years-of-age from Sainte Thereses, QC, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Fail to comply with probation order

·        Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·        Possess unmarked cigarettes

 The accused was released from custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 7, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

5.

On Sunday May 25, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m. the James Bay OPP conducted a traffic stop on Brunelle Road North in Kapuskasing. Officers determined the driver to have been consuming a drug.

As a result, Donald ST AMOUR, 56 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Driving while under suspension

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

 The accused was released from custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 7, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

6.

On Saturday May 31, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m. the James Bay OPP observed a vehicle on McPherson Avenue in Kapuskasing travelling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop. Officers determined the driver to have been consuming a drug.

As a result, Donald DUGUAY, 58 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine

·        Possession of a schedule III substance

The accused was released from custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 7, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

7.

On Saturday May 31, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m. the James Bay OPP were conducting a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Lefebvre Peninsula in Moonbeam. Officers observed a vehicle entering the program and determined the driver had been consuming a drug.

As a result, Melanie DRISDALE, 39 years-of-age from Moonbeam, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

 The accused was released from custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 7, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

8.

On Thursday June 12, 2025, at approximately 6:00 a.m. the James Bay OPP observed a parked vehicle partially blocking the north bound lane on Genier Road in Cochrane. Police determined that the driver, who was passed out in the driver’s seat at the time, had been consuming an alcoholic beverage.

As a result, Brayden KNAPAYSWEET, 33 years-of-age from Fort Albany, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·        Drive a motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 8, 2025, in Cochrane.

9.

On Monday June 16, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m. the James Bay OPP responded to a 911 call reporting a suspected impaired driver on an ATV on Frontenac Crescent in Kapuskasing. Police located the vehicle and driver, determining they had been consuming an alcoholic beverage.

As a result, Jet MOMBOURQUETTE, 19 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 11, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

10.

On Saturday June 21, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m. the James Bay OPP responded to a 911 call reporting a driver in a vehicle in the drive thru of a restaurant on Highway 11 in Cochrane, was passed out at the wheel. The driver was awakened prior to police arrival, and police located the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Police determined the driver had been consuming an alcoholic beverage.

As a result, David LITTLE, 18 years-of-age from Belle Vallee, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

 The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 8, 2025, in Cochrane.

11.

On Friday June 27, 2025, at approximately 7:15 p.m. the James Bay OPP responded to a 911 call reporting a pick-up truck being driven in a dangerous manner on Balsam Avenue in Kapuskasing. The victim reported that they were on their porch when it was deliberately struck by the vehicle. As police were speaking with the driver of the vehicle, they determined the driver had been consuming an alcoholic beverage.

As a result, Joseph FILION, 62 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Dangerous operation

·        Assault with a weapon

·        Mischief over $5000

·        Failure to stop after accident

 The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 11, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

Additionally, all accused persons received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three individuals with operation while impaired offences.

On June 22, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle displaying poor driving behaviour. Shortly after, officers located the vehicle on Albion Vaughan Road, near Caledon King Townline, in the Town of Caledon. Investigating officers conducted a traffic stop upon the vehicle and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drug.

Following the investigation, Donald DRYSDALE, 22, of Alliston, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

Later that same day, Caledon OPP officers received a report of a single vehicle collision on Olde Base Line Road, near Kennedy Road, in the Town of Caledon. Shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers arrived on scene and subsequently formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Lori WOOD, 61, of Caledon, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The following day, on June 23, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Rolling Hills Lane, near Station Road, in the Town of Caledon. Shortly after, officers arrived on scene and subsequently formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

Following the investigation, James PRICE, 35, of Bolton, was charged with:

  • Fail to surrender licence
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

All accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 10, 2025, to answer to their charges. The vehicles were also impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver’s licences were suspended for a period of 90 days.

Drivers continue to take chances. It’s simply not worth the risk. Motorists are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple impaired driving charges since June 21, 2025

On June 21, 2025, at approximately 4:08 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a Off-road vehicle for an Off-Road Vehicle act offence on Alvar Road. Through investigation the driver was charged with Impaired driving offences. 

Dayan WORSLEY, 33-year-old of Cameron, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to wear proper helmet
  • Fail to surrender evidence of insurance
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

On June 22, 2025, at approximately 10:58 a.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program on Monck Road. A driver had approached the officers and through investigation the driver was charged with Impaired driving offences. 

Daniel MCLELLAN, 40-year-old of Mount Albert, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance

On June 23, 2025, at approximately 1:33 p.m., officers attended a motor vehicle collision after reports of a possible impaired driver on County Road 41. Through investigation the driver was charged with Impaired driving offences.

Ciji CAMPBELL, 39-year-old of Scarborough, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

All are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.

All received a 90 day licence suspension and their vehicles have been impounded for 7 days.

Prasanth MAHENDRARAJAH – Impaired Driving

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.

On June 25, 2025, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver in Springwater Township.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Horseshoe Valley Road West. During the interaction, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to an arrest. As a result of the investigation, Prasanth MAHENDRARAJAH, 33-year-old of Ajax, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Collingwood on July 22, 2025, to answer to the charges.

(SEGUIN, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving charges after Stopping a vehicle for speeding.

On June 24, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 400 in Seguin Township. A vehicle was stopped for speeding and after speaking with the driver police initiated an impaired driving investigation.   

Darren KINLOCH 38 years-of-age of Parry Sound was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration
  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Speeding

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on July 31, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

57 Year Old From Brockton Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On June 23, 2025, at approximately 10:32 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Bruce Road 4 near Bruce Road 19, Municipality of Brockton.

Police attended and discovered that an SUV had collided with a pole, the driver departed prior to police arrival.

As a result of the investigation, Tamara STRADER, 57-years-old, resident of the Municipality of Brockton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)

The accused is set to appear on July 16, 2025, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.

Carol ACOSTA RUBIANO Arrested Following Collision With Police

(LONDON, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle collides with unmarked OPP police vehicle.

On June 24, 2025, at 11:01 p.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Investigation and Enforcement Bureau was operating an unmarked police vehicle on York Street in the City of London.

Investigation revealed the police vehicle was stopped at a red light, when it was hit from behind by a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).  

The driver of the SUV was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Carol ACOSTA RUBIANO, a 40-year-old of London has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

·      Careless Driving

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on August 11, 2025.

Robert BROLEY – Impaired Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE, ON)- Driver impaired by drug.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a red pickup truck that had gone into a ditch along Highway 17 near Handy Spot Road in the village of Spragge. The driver was observed walking away from the vehicle, displaying obvious signs of intoxication.

Police arrived a short time later and located the driver back at the pickup truck. Following an investigation, officers determined the driver was impaired by an intoxicating substance. The individual was arrested and transported to the Blind River Detachment for further testing.

Robert BROLEY, 59 years-old from the Township of the North Shore was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (four counts)
  • Driving while under suspension (three counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 7, 2025. The involved vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

50 Year Old From Owen Sound Arrested

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – An individual from Owen Sound, Ontario is facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from a single motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Bruce Road 10, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

On Saturday, June 21, 2025 at approximately 2:44 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Bruce Road 10 near Salem Road, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. The driver had crashed into the ditch. There were no injuries.

Paul PERREAULT, 50-years-old, of Owen Sound, is charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol
  • Operation while Impaired – 80 plus
  • Adult Careless Driving- Highway Traffic Act

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 24, 2025.

Robert PIETRASIK – Drunk Driving

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A traffic stop by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) leads to impaired charge.

On Friday May 16,2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m. the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted MNR with a traffic stop of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Highway 570 in the Township of Sesekinika. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.  

As a result of the investigation, Robert PIETRASIK, a 61-year-old from Maisonville Township, has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired by alcohol

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS). The accused was released from custody and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on June 5, 2025.

19 Year Old Facing Impaired Charge

(TOWNSHIP OF CRAMAHE, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired operation following a single-vehicle collision.

On June 19, 2025, shortly before 3:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a collision on Trent Valley Drive. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Township of Cramahe Fire Department also attended the scene.

The vehicle was located on its roof and off the roadway. Officers initiated an impaired driving investigation. The sole occupant was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, Owen TURNER (19) from the Municipality of Brighton has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in July.

In addition to the court date, a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated under statute.

The Northumberland OPP would like to remind the public that failing to provide a suitable sample of breath or blood upon an officers demand, carries the same consequences as ‘Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs’, and ‘Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)’.

38 Year Old From Kincardine Arrested

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On June 18, 2025, at approximately 1:53 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver along Adelaide Street, Municipality of Kincardine.

Police patrolled through town and located the vehicle in the area of McGaw Drive and Skye Court. While speaking with the driver, the investigating officer detected signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported for further testing.

Andrew SHELTON, 38-years-old, resident of Kincardine, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(a)

The accused is set to appear on July 16, 2025, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charge.

Tyler WOOLMAN – Impaired Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On June 16, 2025, at approximately 10:07 p.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at Albert Road and Bruce Road 15, Municipality of Kincardine.

A vehicle entered the area where the investigating officer spoke to the driver and detected signs of impairment. They were placed under arrest and transported for further testing by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE).

Tyler WOOLMAN, 21-years-old, resident of Sombra, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration, CC 320.14(1)(c)

The accused is set to appear on July 30, 2025, at the Walkerton Court of Justice to answer to the charge.

Glendon WISE Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On June 14, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Cascade Road, in the Township of Machin.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment OPP Detachment for further testing.

Glendon WISE, 43-years-old, of Eagle River, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with the following:

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on July 28, 2025.

Ronald EBY – Impaired Driving

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a South Bruce Peninsula Resident with multiple criminal charges stemming from an impaired driving investigation.

On the evening of Sunday, June 15, 2025, members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a male operating a riding lawnmower in an unsafe manner along the shoulder of Highway 6 in the Township of South Bruce Peninsula.

At approximately 7:44 p.m., officers located a person seated on a riding lawnmower on the roadside and took the individual into custody.

Ronald EBY, 39-years-old from South Bruce Peninsula, is charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

The OPP reminds all motorists that impaired operation of any vehicle, including off-road vehicles and lawnmowers, is a criminal offence and poses a serious risk to public safety.
