Sean MACINNES – Impaired Driving

(ORILLIA, ON) – A traffic complaint being called in by a member of the public has led to impaired related charges laid by members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On July 23, 2025, just before 8:30 pm, officers from the Orillia OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint after a member of the public observed a driver consuming what they believed to be alcohol in their vehicle parked at a local business on Coldwater Road, in the City of Orillia. The concerned citizen followed the suspect vehicle and provided updates to the police. Upon arriving at scene, officers located the suspect vehicle and entered an impaired operation investigation based on the driver’s behaviour. The driver was arrested and transported to the Orillia Detachment for further testing, assisted by an officer from Rama First Nations Police Service.

As a result of the investigation, Sean MACINNES, 52-year-old from Orillia, has been charged with the following:

–      Operation while impaired (CC), and

–      Operation while impaired – 80 plus (CC).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date. Their driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for 14 days.

More Impaired Drivers – WILLIAMS & HASSAN

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Lennox and Addington County members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people with impaired driving related charges recently.

On Saturday July 19, 2025, just after 6:00 p.m., L&A County OPP members were advised of a traffic complaint involving a possible impaired driver on County Road 6 in Loyalist Township. The vehicle was located, and the driver was arrested. 

Bruce WILLIAMS, a 73-year-old from Odessa, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on August 5, 2025. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

 On Monday July 21, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., L&A County OPP was called by a member of the public regarding a single vehicle collision on Highway 41 in Addington Highlands Township. Police attended the collision scene and the driver was arrested.  

Saheed HASSAN a 22-year-old from Brampton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration
  • Careless driving
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on August 12, 2025. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

Zachary Brake Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa, after receiving a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) that they were a suspended driver.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on July 23, OPP were patrolling on Merivale Road near Baseline Road when the officer was alerted to the suspended driver by his ALPR camera. While speaking to the driver, police had reason to believe he may be impaired by alcohol. A roadside screen device was utilized and the driver was taken back to Ottawa Detachment for a breath test. The driver, who also had a G2 licence, was a suspended driver and did not have insurance on his vehicle. Officers also located open alcohol in the vehicle.

As a result, Zachary Brake, 29 years of age, faces the following charges:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving While Under Suspension
  • Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C Above Zero

Brake had his licence suspended for 90 days and had his vehicle impounded for seven days. Brake is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa in at a later date.

Amneet SANDHU Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid Impaired Driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa.

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on July 20, OPP members received a call about a vehicle that had crashed on Highway 417 near Innes Rd. Witnesses stated that the driver had been racing another vehicle when he lost control of his car after failing to make the curve at the 174/417 split. The driver, who was transported to hospital with minor injuries, had been consuming alcohol and registered more then twice the legal limit. Officers also located alcohol and cannabis inside the vehicle.

As a result, Amneet SANDHU, 28 years of age, faces the following charges:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Race a Motor Vehicle
  • Driver – Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt

Sandhu had his drivers licence suspended for 90 days as a result of the impaired charges and also received a 30-day driving suspension for racing a motor vehicle. Sandhu is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.

Shawna BORSATO – Impaired Driving

 (BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM, ON) – A call from the public in relation to a suspicious person led to impaired driving charges.

On July 20, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Washington Road in the Township of Blandford-Blenheim for the report of a suspicious person.

As a result of the investigation, Shawna BORSATO, a 39-year-old resident of Cambridge, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on September 9, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers: BEADLE, ORIET & NOLAN-DUCEDRE

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON)- The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged three drivers over the weekend with impaired driving.

On July 19, 2023, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Members from the Kingsville OPP Detachment responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 3 in the Town of Kingsville. Police arrived on scene and spoke with the vehicle driver, Mark BEADLE, a 23-year-old resident of Leamington who was charged with:

·        Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 28, 2025, to answer to the charges.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 10:00 pm., members from the Lakeshore OPP Detachment received a report of a possible impaired driver, and officer on patrol located the vehicle on County 22 in the Municipality of Lakeshore. The officer spoke with the vehicle driver, Jeremy ORIET a 25-year-old resident of Lakeshore who was charged with:

·        Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Dangerous operation

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 31, 2025, to answer to the charges.

On July 21, 2025, shortly after 3:30 a.m., a member form the Essex OPP Detachment was on patrol when they observed a motor vehicle in ditch on North Malden Road in the Town of Essex. Police spoke with the vehicle driver, Aven NOLAN-DUCEDRE, a 24-year-old resident of Essex who was charged with:

·        Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on August 7, 2025.

All of the accused in these matters were issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Marilyn RULE Was Arrested After Incident With Horse

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested following a traffic complaint involving a vehicle and a horseback rider.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle being driven dangerously around a horseback rider in the area of Sugar Lake Road in Walford. The complainant reported that the driver was also yelling and honking the horn at the horseback rider. The same driver then directed the dangerous driving behavior toward another vehicle that was attempting to assist. Police arrived shortly after and located the driver. Following an investigation, the driver was arrested.

As a result, Marilyn RULE, 59-years-old from the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, was charged with operation while impaired.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on September 22, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers – Chandandeep SINGH & Dalwinder Jot SINGH

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers involved in two separate collisions with impaired operation.

On July 11, 2025, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Old School Road near Creditview Road in the Town of Caledon. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested. 

As a result, Chandandeep SINGH, 30, of Brampton was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Four days later on July 15, 2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a two vehicle collision on McLaughlin Road just north of Mayfield Road in the Town of Caledon. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that one of the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested. 

As a result, Dalwinder Jot SINGH, 28, of Brampton was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 31, 2025, to answer for the charges. Both driver’s licence were suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven. 

Some drivers continue to take unnecessary chances. Motorists are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving and novice class drivers are required to have a blood alcohol concentration of zero while driving. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

19 Year Old From Kincardine Arrested – Name Released

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On July 18, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious person at an address along Concession 2, Municipality of Kincardine.

Police attended and discovered that a vehicle had been involved in a collision along Bruce Road 20, the driver then attended an address on Concession 2. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment, and the driver was arrested and transported for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Alexander COLLEY AQUINO, 19-years-old, of the Municipality of Kincardine, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – B.A.C. 80 plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Dangerous Operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero, HTA 44.1(3)

The accused is set to appear on August 27, 2025, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.

More Impaired Drivers – LUCAS, MCBAIN & ALLEN

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to intercept impaired driving through proactive patrols.

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., an officer with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that had no visible licence plate.

During the investigation, the officer suspected the individual had been drinking, and an approved roadside alcohol screening device was utilized. The individual was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result, Tyler LUCAS, age 29, of Prince Edward County, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • No licence
  • No number plate
  • No off-road vehicle permit
  • Not properly insured
  • Fail to have required lighted lamps

On Thursday, July 17, 2025 shortly after 4:00 pm, officers responded to a traffic complaint where a member of the public suspected a driver was impaired. The vehicle was located by officers and through investigation, an approved screening device was utilized.

Mark MCBAIN, age 59, of Sudbury, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Friday, July 18, 2025, around 3:30 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation. During the investigation, the officer suspected the accused had been drinking, and an approved screening device was utilized.

Brandon ALLEN, age 30, of Belleville, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Speeding

All three accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date. Their driver’s licenses have been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Renee POTVIN Was Arrested – Details Released

(LEAMINGTON, ON)- On July 16, 2025, at approximately 11:33 a.m., members of the Leamington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment conducted a traffic stop Satinwood Cresent in the Municipality of Leamington.

Upon speaking to the driver, officers detected signs of impairment. The driver was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

As a result, Renee POTVIN, 44-years-old, resident of Leamington, was charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substance Act, Liquor Licence Control Act and the Cannabis Control Act with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – B.A.C. (80 plus)

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 31, 2025.

Kristy Brobbel – Impaired Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after being alerted to a possible impaired driver in Norland.

On Wednesday July 16, 2025 at approximately 11:58 am officers were notified of a possible impaired driver that were operating a pick up truck believed to be impaired on Highway 35 in Norland. Officers located the vehicle and entered into an impaired driving investigation. The driver was arrested and charged with Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences.

Kristy Brobbel, 40-year-old of Dysart Et Al, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance -Opiod (other than heroin)
  • Driving While Under Suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers license was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

28 Year Old From South Bruce Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On July 11, 2025, at approximately 1:03 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Yonge Street South at Highway 9, Municipality of Brockton.

Police attended and discovered that a vehicle had struck a light standard. The driver was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The investigating officer attended the hospital and detected signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, Leobardo SANCHEZ SANCHEZ, 28-years-old, of the Municipality of South Bruce, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – B.A.C. 80 plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)

The accused is set to appear on August 24, 2025, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charge.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers in impaired driving related investigations.

On July 14, 2025, just before 4:00 a.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle parked on the road in the area of County Road 11 in Greater Napanee. Officers responded and located the vehicle and driver, who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Joseph MCKEIL, age 51, of Greater Napanee was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On July 15, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint on County Road 1 in Stone Mills Township. Officers responded and located the vehicle and driver, who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

The driver was found to be four times the legal limit of alcohol.

As a result, a 32-year-old female from Arden was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis in open original packaging

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.

Logan COTTON Was Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Orangeville resident with impaired driving-related offences following a public complaint.

On July 4, 2025, shortly after 6:30 p.m., officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Townline in the Town of Orangeville. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the male driver and observed signs of impairment, prompting them to initiate an impaired driving investigation.

Logan COTTON, a 37-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

•      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

•      Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

•      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.
