Rachael NATTAK – Drunk Driving

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A Kirkland Lake resident was arrested and charged with impaired driving.  

On November 15, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute at a residence on Kirkpatrick Street. One person who appeared to be impaired was reported to have departed the residence driving a motor vehicle.

Shortly after, the vehicle was located and stopped by police. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Rachael NATTAK, a 44-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on December 12, 2024.

Glenys SCHOOLEY – Drunk Driving

(CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual with impaired driving following a RIDE check in Clearview Township.

On November 28, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of Huronia West OPP were conducting a RIDE spot check for sobriety on Strongville Road and Concession 9. A vehicle entered the RIDE spot check and police began an impaired driving investigation. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Huronia West OPP Detachment for further investigation.

As a result, Glenys SCHOOLEY, 74-year-old of Waterloo, has been charged with:

  • Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Emmery Luke McGINNIS – Drunk Driving Etc.

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – A vehicle stop by a Fort Frances officer got a repeat impaired driving offender off the road.  

On November 29, 2024, at approximately 1:00 am, an officer with the Rainy River District Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle in the 6th Street East area of town after recognizing the prohibited driver.

In addition to the multiple prohibitions and suspensions, the driver was obviously impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the Fort Frances OPP Detachment where breath testing was completed by way of demand.

Emmery Luke McGINNIS, 41-years-old from Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation (Red Gut), ON is charged with one count each of: impaired operation drugs or alcohol, impaired operation blood alcohol concentration 80 milligrams or over, operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, drive motor vehicle no licence, and drive with cannabis readily available.

The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The accused was held by police and is scheduled to appear in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on November 29, 2024, for a bail hearing.

Randy Switzer – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 26, 2024 following a call for service regarding a motor vehicle.

On November 27, 2024, at approximately 6:31 pm, an off-duty OPP officer reported a possible impaired driver northbound on Highway 35 just south of Fenelon Falls. Officers responded to the call for service. A traffic stop was completed and officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.

Randy Switzer, 65-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

Mandeep WALIA – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – London driver charged in OPP Festive Ride program.

On November 23, 2024, at 8:21 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were engaged in a Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Catherine Street in Thames Centre.

A vehicle entered the RIDE program, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Mandeep WALIA, a 40-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Cannabis Control Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 9, 2025.

The Festive RIDE campaign runs from November 21,2024 through to January 2, 2025.

(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON) – Driver charged with impaired after traffic complaint at a business in Adelaide Metcalfe.

On November 25, 2024, at 9:25 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a business at 28610 Centre Road, Adelaide Metcalfe, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, Joshua FRANKS, a 33-year-old of Strathroy, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 28, 2025.

John TESSIER – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Lakeshore detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver with impaired after responding to a collision.

On November 26, 2024, at 11:44 p.m., members of the Lakeshore OPP, were dispatched to Elmstead Road in the Municipality of Lakeshore for a report of a single vehicle collision.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local detachment.

As a result, John TESSIER, a 35-year-old of Lakeshore, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 13, 2024.

There were no injuries reported.

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – Police located and arrested an impaired driver while on patrol in the Town of Tillsonburg.

On November 26, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol in Tillsonburg when they encountered an impaired driver on Bidwell Street.

Brandon BOULTON-MEREDITH, a 35 years-of-age resident of Tillsonburg, was charged with the following charges:

  •              Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  •              Operation While Impaired
  •              Operation While Impaired -Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  •              Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock on January 7, 2025.

Samuel MACDONALD – Drunk Driving

(LANARK HIGHLANDS TWP, ON) – – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Tay Valley Township resident with impaired driving.

Officers respond to a two-vehicle collision on Highway-7 in Lanark Highlands Township on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, shortly before 7:00 a.m.

Officers investigating the collision arrested one of the drivers and transported the individual to the Carleton Place Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Samuel MACDONALD, age 38, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to have insurance
  • Careless driving

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on December 30, 2024.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Merek MANNINEN Arrested After Calling Police on Themself

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after they called police to report their location following a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver. 

On November 23, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint in the area of Wood Street, Espanola regarding a possible impaired driver. Shortly after, the driver called police to report their location. Police attended the location provided, and further testing on scene resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, the driver, Merek MANNINEN, 24-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on January 6, 2025.

Justin SMITH – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(SARNIA, ON) – A traffic stop led to an individual being charged for driving while impaired.

On November 25, 2024, shortly after 10:40 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on London Line, east of Murphy Road in Sarnia.

As a result of the investigation, Justin SMITH, 40-year-old of Sarnia, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, the Highway Traffic Act, and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

A 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 20, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.

Darryl GARANT – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Detachment arrested an impaired driver at a Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On November 23, 2024, members of the Elgin OPP were conducting a RIDE checkpoint on the eastbound off-ramp of Highway 401 at Bloomfield Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent. At approximately 10:30 p.m., police stopped a passenger vehicle and checked for driver sobriety.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was taken into custody and transported to the Chatham-Kent OPP Detachment for further testing.

Darryl GARANT, a 30-year-old from Chatham was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on December 16, 2024.

Kayla MILLER – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an impaired driving investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to and investigated a single-vehicle collision on Oakwood Avenue in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that a sedan was travelling on Oakwood Avenue when it left the roadway and went down an embankment. No injuries were reported.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the scene, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

37-year-old Kayla MILLER of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Dangerous operation.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

Robert MALONE – Hit & Run, Drunk Driving

(ESSA, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for driving while impaired in the Township of Essa.

On November 25, 2024, just before 9:30 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver, in the area of Willoughby Rd, between Greenwood Drive and 5th Line. The caller stated someone had driven across their lawn and struck a fire hydrant.

As a result of the investigation, Robert MALONE, 60-years-old, of Angus, was charged with:  

• Adult Operation while Impaired- alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

• Fail to report accident

• Fail to report damage to property on highway

• Fail to remain

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on January 2, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Cassidy Lynn EMMETT – Drunk Driving

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after a single vehicle collision.

On November 26, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision in Springwater Township. Officers located the vehicle on Crossland Road north of County Road 92, where they conducted an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Cassidy Lynn EMMETT, 29-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
