Brandon Fisher Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on April 23, 2024 after a traffic complaint.

On April 23, 2024, at approximately 01:28 a.m., officers received a traffic complaint of an ATV speeding up and down residential roads. Officers conduced a traffic stop on the motor vehicle in a residential area of Omemee. Through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Brandon Fisher, 28-year-old of Omemee, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Operator Motor Vehicle without Insurance
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle
  • Failed to Wear Proper Helmet
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device
  • Drive Motor Vehicle No Plates
  • Unlawfully Drive Off Road Vehicle on Highway
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.

31 Year Old From Owen Sound Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested an impaired driver.

On April 21, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle parked in a live lane of traffic on Bruce County Road 19. At approximately 3:21 a.m., police located a vehicle parked in the live lane. The driver showed signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Neal Korchak, 31-years-old, from the City of Owen Sound was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

52 Year Old From South Huron Arrested – Name Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with an Impaired Driving offence following a traffic stop on Monday April 8th, 2024. 

On April 8th, just before 10:00 p.m., Huron County OPP officers were provided information by a concerned member of the public that a vehicle driver may under the influence at an address on Main Street North in the Town of Exeter, Municipality of South Huron.

Police attended the location and conducted a traffic stop on the subject vehicle. Officers determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the driver’s breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician. The breath tests resulted in readings which exceeded two times the legal limit.

Michelle TRUMBLE, 52-years-of-age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 13th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Stephanie SMITH Was Arrested

(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON) A driver is facing impaired charges after the classic car they were operating left the roadway and struck a group of trees in Tiny Township last evening.

At around 7:45 p.m. on April 22, 2024, members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) arrived on the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Rue Lafontaine East in the Township of Tiny. Police located the vehicle, a 70’s era Chevrolet Corvette with extensive damage (see photo), lodged in a forest approximately 25 metres off the roadway.

The driver was spoken to and received care from Simcoe County Paramedics. While investigating, officers gathered grounds to believe that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment to provide breath samples.

As a result of this investigation, Stephanie SMITH, 50 years Penetanguishene, Ontario was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Operation over 80 Milligrams

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a later date. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.

Justin DESJARLAIS Was Arrested

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – A traffic stop has resulted in one individual being arrested and charged with impaired operation.

On April 23, 2024, just after 2:20 a.m., members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the area of the 900 Block of Fifth Street East in the Town of Fort Frances.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Fort Frances OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Justin DESJARLAIS, 29-years-old, of Alberton Township, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on June 10th, 2024.

Kari WOOD Was Arrested

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – A traffic stop has resulted in one individual being arrested and charged with impaired operation.

On April 22, 2024, just after 2:30 p.m., members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the area of the 400 Block of Second Street East in the Town of Fort Frances.

As a result, Kari WOOD, 54-years-old, of Fort Frances, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on June 3rd, 2024.

2 More Impaired Drivers

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers over the weekend with impaired driving.

On April 19, 2024 at 10:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to attend a commercial parking lot on Wellington Street near Monck Road in Bracebridge after a vehicle was seen scraping along another vehicle in an apparent attempt to park. Officers attended and subsequently arrested and charged 19-year-old Shane HOULE of Port Carling, ON with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 14, 2024 to answer to his charges.

On April 21, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about a driver’s well-being after they pulled into a service centre on Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst. Officers arrived and arrested and charged 41-year-old Kendra HISSON of New Tecumseth, ON with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 28, 2024 to answer to her charges.

Information from concerned and attentive members of the public is key in efforts to take impaired drivers off the road and create safer driving conditions for everyone. The consequences for impaired driving in the province of Ontario, beyond the criminal charge, includes a 90 day drivers license suspension and a 7 day vehicle impound.

Martin NDUNG’U Was Arrested

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver has been charged with impaired after being stopped due to their erratic driving. 

On April 15, 2024, just shortly after 8:30pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was patrolling westbound on Highway 7 in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township when they observed a vehicle ahead swerve nearly striking a transport that was directly beside it. The officer activated that emergency lighting on their cruiser to conduct a traffic stop and after a short period of time, the vehicle pulled to the shoulder. The officer approached the diver and after a short conversation, read them the Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. The driver provided a sample of their breath and as a result was arrested. Upon arrest, containers of alcohol were found to be within reach of the driver.

Martin NDUNG’U (age 47) of East York, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Unsafe Move – lane or shoulder

·      Fail to surrender insurance card

·      Fail to stop – nearest edge of roadway – for emergency vehicle

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 28, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(LENNOX & ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two other drivers with impaired driving, bringing the total to five impaired drivers charged over the weekend.

On April 21, 2024, shortly before 6:00 p.m., officers from the L&A County OPP responded to a call of a single vehicle collision with a lone male occupant on Beechwood Road by Drive In Road. When police arrived Paramedic Services was already on scene. The male was transported to hospital as a precautionary measure. The male suffered minor injuries from the collision. Police arrested the male at the hospital for impaired driving. The male became violent and assaulted police.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Thomas MARK, age 66, of Napanee, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Assault a peace officer – three counts

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on May 7, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

On April 22, 2024, shortly before 3:00 a.m., officers from the L&A County OPP responded to a call of an unwanted female in a residence who was being assaultive. Police attended and located the female in a vehicle outside of the residence. Police arrested the female for impaired driving and assault

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Skylar LAPPAN, age 25, of Loyalist, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Assault

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on May 14, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

(WARWICK, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation as a result of traffic stop.

On April 20, 2024, at 11:29 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while travelling on Quaker Road in Warwick Township, performed a traffic stop on a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Matthew MACLEAN, a 25-year-old of Thedford, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 28, 2024.

(ENNISKILLEN, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation as a result of traffic stop.

On April 20, 2024, at 1:49 a.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while travelling on Mandaumin Road in Enniskillen Township, observed a suspicious vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Elijah NOLAN, an 18-year-old of Wyoming, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 14, 2024.

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after member of the public reports traffic complaint of possible impaired driver.

On April 19, 2024, at 7:43 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on 40 Highway in St. Clair Township, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Roger NEWBY, a 56-year-old of Courtright, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 14, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers with impaired operation related offences this past weekend.

On April 20, 2024, just before 9:00 p.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of CTY RD 16 in the Township of Amaranth. Officers noticed a traffic violation and were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation. 

Charles SWAN, a 38-year-old male, from Beeton has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On April 21, 2024, just after 12:00 a.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint in the area of Victoria Street in the Town of Shelburne. Officers located the vehicle and driver a short time later and were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation. 

Andrew ROY, a 56-year-old male, from Wellington North has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

More Drunk Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Three individuals have been charged following an investigation into separate incidents of impaired driving.

At approximately 6:36 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a possible impaired driver on Highway 3 in Delhi, Norfolk County.

Shortly thereafter, patrolling officers conducted a vehicle stop and investigation at a location on Church Street East in Delhi, Norfolk County.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 27-year-old Philip STRATTON of Port Colborne, Ontario:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Around 11:43 p.m. on the same day, an officer from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment conducted a vehicle stop and investigation at a location on Pinegrove Road in Charlotteville, Norfolk County.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

While searching the driver and the vehicle, officers discovered and seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, as well as Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 23-year-old Harley VAN DAMME of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand,
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine,
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Around 11:56 p.m. on the same day, an officer from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment conducted a vehicle stop and investigation on at a location on Queensway East in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 33-year-old Derek MAYO of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Drive without proper headlights – motor vehicle,
  • Drive wrong way – one-way traffic.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

More Drunk Drivers

On April 19, 2024, at 10:49 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 7, Ops Township, for a Highway Traffic Act offence, where an odour of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Mitchell HAID, 30-year-old of Keswick, was charged with

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

On April 20, 2024, at 11:03 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in Bobcaygeon, where an odour of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Ryan TUCKER, 34-year-old of Trent Lakes, was charged with

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Operator Motor Vehicle without Insurance
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

On April 21, 2024, at 01:51 a.m., officers attended a single motor vehicle collision in Coboconk, the driver, a single occupant of the vehicle, was not injured. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Kevin Douglas, 27-year-old of Peterborough, was charged with

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

In addition to the charges all drivers received a 90 day licence suspension and the motor vehicles were impounded for 7 days.

The above mentioned are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.
