Drug Bust

(NIPIGON, ON) – Multiple people are facing Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges, after a search warrant was conducted at a residence in Nipigon, for the second time this year.

Members of the Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) of the OPP, conducted an investigation into trafficking of CDSA in the Town of Nipigon.  

On October 8th, Nipigon CSCU and OCEB, conducted a search warrant in the Town of Nipigon on Harkness Street. This was the second search warrant conducted at the same address, five months previously.

Six people were arrested and charged during this search warrant. Two of the accused were found to be in breach of a Release Order and an Undertaking, for the same offence (Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking).

One of the accused was found to have a Warrant from another police service while another accused was found to have been reported missing from another police service.

Suspected Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Codiene, Methylphenidate, Crack, Speed Pills, Concerta, Trazodone, Ritalin, Suboxone, Canadian and American Currency and a homemade Sword. The total street value is estimated to be $32,500.

Agnes Hardy, 38-years-old of Nipigon, is now charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine – Two Counts

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

·      Failure to Comply with Undertaking

·      Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

William Laird, 65-years-old of Nipigon, is now charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine – Two Counts

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

·      Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

·      Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other than to Attend Court – Three Counts

Boedawn Morriseau, 35-years-old, of Nipigon, is now charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine – Two Counts

·      Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Danielle Wazny, 36-years-old, of Ignace, is now charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine – Two Counts

·      Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs

Sharon Charbonneau, 51-years-old of Gorham Township, is now charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine – Two Counts

·      Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs

All the above accused were remanded into custody after appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 9th, 2024.

Additionally, Jeffrey White, 44-years-old, of Nipigon, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon on November 11, 2024.

Breeze JANTZI Was Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person at a RIDE check on October 6, 2024.

On October 6, 2024 at 11:30 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers along with members of the Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Taylor Road near Depot Drive in Bracebridge, ON when they began an investigation into the driving of a person coming through the checkpoint.

As a result of their investigation, police have charged 22-year-old Breeze JANTZI of Mactier, ON with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2) and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 CC 354(1)(a). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 12, 2024 to answer to her charges.

5 Arrested In Drug Bust

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Peterborough Police Service (PPS), and Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS), arrested five individuals in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation.

On Thursday October 3, 2024, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU located an individual in the city of Peterborough believed to be involved in trafficking. Officers went to arrest the individual who attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly afterwards.

Robert DAVIS (age 33) of Ajax, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I substance – Fentanyl

·      Possession of Proceeds obtained by Crime Over $5000 – (two counts)

·      Obstruct Police

·      Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm

·      Tampering with a serial number

·      Careless Storage of a Firearm

·      Possession of a Prohibited Device

·      Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Prohibition Order

During the arrest, officers located and seized:

·      6 ounces of Fentanyl

·      Canadian Currency

·      Two cell phones

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Upon the arrest, members of the Central East OCEB, Quinte West CSCU, and officers from PPS conducted entry and searches at a Peterborough address as well as a location in Campbellford.

During the search in Campbellford, officers located and seized:

·      90 Percocet

·      1 gram Fentanyl

·      Canadian Currency

·      2 long guns (suspected to be stolen)

·      2 scales

·      Cell phones

·      Taser

During the search in Peterborough, officers located and seized:

·      231 grams of Cocaine

·      170 grams of MDMA

·      Canadian Currency

·      A handgun

·      A shotgun

·      Digital camera (suspected to be stolen)

·      2 E-bikes (suspected to be stolen)

·      Cell phones

·      Ammunition

Upon entry of the Peterborough location officers located two persons as well as an unloaded handgun. Both were arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.

Tracy BEAULNE (age 52) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – MDMA

·      Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm

·      Possession of a firearm knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With

·      Careless storage of a firearm

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

A youth (Y/O) was also found at the location and arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – MDMA

·      Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm – (two counts)

·      Careless storage of a firearm – (two counts)

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order

·      Possession of proceeds obtained by Crime Under $5000

·      Fail to comply with Undertaking

The youth was held for Bail

Peterborough CSCU members, City of Kawartha Lakes Police, Central East OCEB, and DRPS also conducted a search warrant at a location in Ajax.

During the search, officers located and seized:

·      A loaded firearm and ammunition

·      Canadian Currency

·      Jewelry

·      Bullet proof vest

·      A gold bar

·      Cell phones

·      A Mercedes C54

·      A baton

·      Scales

As part of the seizures, investigators have identified property believed to have been stolen and are seeking assistance in identifying the rightful owners. Officers have seized two higher end bicycles, a camera, and two rifles. Weapon & Drug Bust

(NOTTAWASAGA, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three individuals with multiple weapon and drug offences after executing search warrants.

In August 2024, the Nottawasaga OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) initiated a drug trafficking investigation.

On October 3, 2024, at approximately 11:40 a.m., search warrants were executed at three residents in Barrie, Essa Township, and Tay Township. The OPP Nottawasaga CSCU executed the warrants with assistance from members of the OPP Nottawasaga Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), Huronia West Detachment, Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment, Orillia Detachment, Southern Georgian Bay CSCU, and Muskoka Crime Unit.

As a result of the investigation, three individuals have been arrested and the following items were seized:

  • 121 grams of cocaine
  • 4 imitation handguns
  • Switch blade knife
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia
  • 494 pieces of ammunition (blanks)
  • Approximately $5,000 in Canadian Currency
  • Jewelry valued at approximately $20,000
  • Unmarked cigarettes
  • Vehicles in relation to the offence

Christopher WICE, a 42-year-old from Angus, was charged with:

  • Traffick in Schedule I substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose – four counts

Joshua KUJANSUU, a 38-year-old from Barrie, was charged with:

  • Traffick in Schedule I substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – four counts
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of unmarked cigarettes

Christopher RUSSELL, a 42-year-old from Angus, was charged with:

  • Traffick in Schedule I substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose – four counts

The accused were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.

Marc REGNIER – Drugs, Etc.

(ST. CLAIR, ON) – On October 1, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on Kimball Road, St. Clair Township, after observing a motor vehicle towing a trailer.

Investigation revealed that the trailer was reported stolen out of the Municipality of Lakeshore on October 15, 2023.

As a result of the investigation, Marc REGNIER, 48-year-old of Chatham-Kent has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act, and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with the following offences:

  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Fentanyl 
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle 
  • Possess more than one licence 
  • Draw trailer, no plate
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was released from police custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 13, 2024, in the City of Sarnia.

Jennifer STUBBS, 43-year-old of Chatham-Kent was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs Substances Act for the following offences:

  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Cocaine

The accused was released from police custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 13, 2024, in the City of Sarnia.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachments Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid drug trafficking related charges and seized a quantity of drugs.

Orillia CSCU began investigating individuals who were allegedly trafficking drugs in the City of Orillia. Utilizing investigative techniques police were able to gather evidence further advancing their investigation. On October 2, 2024 – satisfied with the information gathered the Orillia CSCU proceeded to the next steps in their investigation. With the assistance of Nottawasaga OPP CSCU, Orillia OPP Community Mobilization Unit (CMU), Orillia OPP officers and the Tactical Response Unit (TRU)a search warrant was executed at an address on Barrie Rd in the City of Orillia and three persons were arrested and charged.

As a result of the investigation, the following was seized:

·      67 grams of fentanyl

·      23 grams of cocaine

·      4 x 100ml bottles methadone

·      134 Hydromorphone pills

·      67 Oxycodone pills

·      Prohibited knife

·      Multiple cellular devices

 Paul HART-PAYNE, 31 years old, of Orillia, has been charged with:

Adult Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

Adult Poss of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order x 3

Shaquille EVELYN Was Arrested

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – An Ajax resident has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Criminal Code (CC) following a search warrant in Thunder Bay.

The warrant was executed at a residence on Sleeping Giant Parkway in Thunder Bay on September 25, 2024, by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG). As a result, police seized approximately 380 grams of suspected cocaine, more than $20,000 in Canadian currency and fraudulent identification.

Shaquille EVELYN, age 32 of Ajax, was arrested for the following three CDSA and CC offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Possession of an identity document

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on October 4, 2024.

Drug Bust

(ARCHIPELAGO, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people with drug related offences after a traffic stop on Highway 69 in Archipelago Township.

On September 25, 2024, just before 12:00 a.m. officers stopped the vehicle as a result of an Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) hit. A wanted person from southern Ontario was located in the vehicle and arrested. Officers searched the vehicle and located a large amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000.   

Anthony RATTRAY,24-years-old from North York was arrested and charged with:

·        Possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on October 31, 2024

Matthew DELVES, 24-years-old from Markham was arrested and charged with:

·        Possession of Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused was held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(NIPIGON, ON) – An investigation led by the Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Northwest Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), has resulted in charges against two individuals.

On September 26, 2024, a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at a residence on Highway 628, in the town of Red Rock, a quantity of fentanyl, methamphetamine (crystal meth), hydromorphone and Canadian currency were seized. Officers also located a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle that had been reported stolen in the City of Thunder Bay in 2022.

Kevin SARRASIN, 45, of Red Rock, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code;
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance. – contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Crystal HARDY, 28, of Lake Helen, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 – in Canada, contrary to the Criminal Code;
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Both have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Nipigon, on November 12, 2024.

Drug & Weapons Bust

(TECUMSEH, ON) – Two individuals are facing numerous firearm and drug-related charges after a search warrant was executed in Tecumseh.

In July 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) began an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine and opioids in Essex County. On September 24, 2024, a search warrant was executed in Tecumseh by OPP OCEB and Essex County OPP Community Street Crime Unit.

As a result of this investigation, officers seized:

  • four handguns, one of which was loaded  
  • a conducted energy weapon
  • suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $20,000
  • approximately 5,700 oxycodone tablets
  • $120,000 in Canadian currency

Refaat FARRIS, age 47 of Tecumseh, has been charged with the following 30 offences under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):

  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – four counts
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – four counts
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose – four counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – four counts
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm – four counts
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition – four counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) – two counts
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (opioid) – two counts

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on October 1, 2024.

Khadije FARRIS, age 69 of Tecumseh, has been charged with the following 26 offences under the CCandCDSA:

  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – four counts
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose – four counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – four counts
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm – four counts
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition – four counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) – two counts

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on November 27, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(Collingwood, ON) – Members of the Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized fentanyl, cocaine, two loaded semi-automatic handguns and charged four individuals in relation to a drug trafficking investigation. 

The investigation, with the assistance of the Barrie OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), was initiated when investigators were able to identify suspects engaged in the trafficking of drugs in the Collingwood and Owen Sound areas. 

With the assistance of the OPP Physical Surveillance Unit (PSU) and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), four suspects were arrested Tuesday which led to the seizure of two loaded semi-automatic handguns, 67.9 grams of fentanyl, 41.3 grams of cocaine, and small amount of cash and drug paraphernalia. 

As a result of the investigation, the following persons have been charged with the following offences: 

Mohamed AHMED, 25-years-old from Scarborough has been charged with: 

·      Possession of Cocaine for purpose of Trafficking

·      Possession of Opioid for the purpose of Trafficking

·      Two counts of Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Two counts of Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm

·      Two counts of Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

·      Two counts of Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

·      Two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

·      Two counts of Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

Alexia FOURNEL, 20-years-old, from Milton has been charged with: 

·      Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

·      Possession of Opioid for the Purpose of Trafficking

·      Two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

·      Two counts of Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

All four parties were held in custody to appear for a virtual bail hearing which took place on September 25, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(LONGLAC, ON) – A traffic stop in Longlac has resulted in three individuals being arrested and charged under the controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). 

On September 19th, 2024, at 4:03 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police from the Greenstone Detachment, initiated a traffic stop on Highway 11 just west of Longlac.

The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, the driver and two occupants were arrested. Other items associated with drug trafficking including crack pipes and cell phones were also seized.

As a result, Aarisen ABRAHAM, 22-years-old, of Longlac, ON, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

·        Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs

Brady BOUCHARD, 22-years-old, of Longlac, ON, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

·        Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs

Iman Ahmed Mohamed ELSAWY, 27-years-old of Hamilton, ON has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

·        Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Other

The accused Aarisen ABRAHAM was held for bail hearing and remanded into custody with a future court date to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay.

The accused Brady BOUCHARD was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Longlac on October 30th, 2024.

The accused Iman Ahmed Mohamed ELSAWY was held for bail hearing and released with a future court date and schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on October 31st, 2024.

Another Drug Bust

(COCHRANE, ON) – Two drug related search warrants were executed in Cochrane, leading to the arrest of three people, and large drug seizure.

On September 24, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the James Bay Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed search warrants at two residences in Cochrane, one on Thirteenth Avenue and one on Huron Road. 

During the investigation, three people were arrested, and police seized drugs suspected to be fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, methamphetamine tablets, lorazepam, and oxycodone with a total estimated street value of $25,000. Police also seized two firearms, cell phones, scales, packaging, and approximately $3,500 in Canadian currency. 

As a result of this investigation, Luc PRONOVOST, 38 years-of-age of Cochrane was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – crystal methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone
  • Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking – lorazepam
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes

The above accused person remains in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on September 25, 2024.

Further, Philip ARCHIBALD 48 years-of-age of Cochrane, and Pearl WHISKEYCHAN 50 years-of-age of Cochrane, were arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

The two above accused persons were released and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 22, 2024, in Cochrane.

Cocaine Bust – William GIRARD

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual for drug trafficking offences in the Municipality, thanks to ongoing investigations being conducted by the Sioux Lookout OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at approximately 9:30 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 72 after forming grounds to believe the vehicle contained illicit substances for trafficking. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking, and police investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit substances including over 1.3 kg of cocaine and unmarked cigarettes.

Following investigation, William GIRARD, 57 years old, from Worthington Ontario, has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking,

·        Drive Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available, and

·        Possess Unmarked Cigarettes.

The accused was remanded into custody and will next appear in front of the Ontario Court of Justice Kenora Bail Court, on September 25, 2024.

Theresa OUIMETTE Was Arrested

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- East Algoma OPP lays 39th impaired charge in 2024.

On September 23, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver operating a white SUV that was in the Town of Blind River. 

Another complaint advised that the impaired driver was travelling westbound on Highway 17 and may be driving home to Bruce Mines. At approximately 10:30 p.m. police located the SUV parked and running at the intersection of Highway 17 and Main Street in the Town of Iron Bridge.

While speaking to the driver police determined the driver had consumed alcohol and was arrested. While searching the vehicle police located open containers of alcohol and a small amount of suspected cocaine.

The driver was then transported to Blind River detachment for further testing. While at detachment the driver refused to provide a breath sample and was lodged until sober. 

As a result, Theresa OUIMETTE, 45 years-of-age from Bruce Mines was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Possession of a schedule I substance-cocaine
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on November 7, 2024.

The SUV was towed and impounded for seven days with the driver being issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.
