Sergiu PUSCAS – Assault

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On June 29th, 2014 at approximately 3:45 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance on Main Street at River Road East.

An OPP investigation into this matter revealed that a verbal altercation escalated to where a 29 year old male pushed a 33 year old female to the ground.

Charged with “Assault” is Sergiu PUSCAS 29 years old from Maple, Ontario. First appearance is August 11th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

The 33 year old female from Wasaga Beach received minor injuries in this crime.

R.I.D.E. GETS DRUGS

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On June 28th, 2014 at approximately 10:45 p.m. while conducting an R.I.D.E. stop program on Queen Street West in the Village of Elmvale, a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a motor vehicle in which a strong odour of Cannabis Marihuana was emanating from.

An investigation of the driver and interior of this motor vehicle revealed that the operator was in possession of a quantity of Cannabis Marihuana.

Charged with “Possession of Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana” is Daniel J. PINDER, 22 year old from Springwater Twp. First appearance is July 29th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

Michael WIECZOREK – Drunk Driving

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On June 28th, 2014 at approximately 9:40 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report that a possible drunk driver was attempting to leave Beach Area #1 of the Wasaga Beach Ontario Parks.

OPP located and stopped this vehicle on Beach Drive and determined that the driver of this motor vehicle was operating it while under the influence of alcohol.

Charged with “Exceed 80 mgs” is Michael WIECZOREK 26 years old from Guelph, Ontario. First appearance is July 22nd, 2014 in Collingwood court.

OPP INVESTIGATES 2 SEPARATE FIRES IN SEGUIN TWP

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On June 29 2014 the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Seguin Fire Department and Parry Sound Fire Department responded to two separate fires in the early morning hours in Seguin Township.

At 3:56 a.m. emergency services responded to a fire at a vacant business on Oastler Park Drive. No injuries were reported.

At 5:39 a.m. emergency services responded to a second fire, this one at a residence on James Bay Junction Road. One person was found deceased within the residence while two others were sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The identification of the deceased is yet to be determined.

The OPP is assisting the Fire Marshall’s Office for both fires. The investigations are on-going.

OPP LOOKING FOR PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN ROBBERY

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking the public for any information they may have related to a robbery that took place in the Town of Parry Sound.

At 2:14 a.m. on Friday June 27 2014, a male entered the Mac’s Convenience Store on Church Street threatened the clerk with a weapon and departed the store with cash and merchandise.

The male is described as white, approximately 5′ 6 to 5”9”

Update: Male Deceased

(ZORRA TOWNSHIP) – Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dirt bike incident which occurred on a private track on private property located on Highway #19, South of Road 74 in Zorra Township at approximately 12:54 p.m. yesterday.

The driver of the dirt bike as been identified as Tyson GORTVA of Mount Brydges.

The male succumbed to his injuries and is now deceased.

MALE PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE

(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON) – On Saturday, June 28, 2014, at approximately 10:49 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious male at the front of a residence on Main Street in Lucan Biddulph, ON. The male was naked and appeared to be attempting to enter the residence.

For unknown reasons, the male left the area and walked northbound on Main Street. A short time later he was on the roadway, where he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

As a result of the collision, a 31 year old male from Middlesex County, ON, was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. He remains in hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Team were deployed to the area to assist with the investigation.

Police closed a section of Main Street north of Chestnut Street to allow for the investigation. The road has since been reopened.

The investigation is continuing.

OPP Investigating Plane Crash

(Frankford, ON) – On June 28, 2014 at approximately 7:05pm, Quinte West detachment members of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a downed aircraft near the Frankford airport.

The 42- year-old lone pilot from, Stirling, ON was attempting to land an ultra light plane when it struck trees.

He was transported to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The OPP is assisting Transport Canafa in the investigation.

OPP Investigating Missing Man

(Frankford, ON) – On June 28, 2014 at approximately 6:00 pm, members of the Quinte West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing man.

Umana Gonzalo, 47 of Toronto was swimming in the Trent River in Frankford, ON when he was observed have difficulty. Although attempts were made to locate him. He has not been found.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit is attending tomorrow, June 29, to assist with the search.

The investigation is continuing.

MALE IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER ATTEMPTING JUMP ON DIRT BIKE

(ZORRA TOWNSHIP) – Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dirt bike incident which occurred on a private track on private property located on Highway #19, South of Road 74 in Zorra Township at approximately 12:54 p.m. today. (28June2014)

The 18 year old male driver of the dirt bike was attempting to maneuver a jump on the track when he was thrown from his dirt bike. As a result the male was airlifted to a London hospital and is currently in critical condition.

OPP, Zorra fire department and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) all responded to assist at this location.

TRAFFIC STOP GETS DRUGS

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On June 27th, 2014 at approximately 7:45 p.m., a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a motor vehicle on Stonebridge Blvd. for a Highway Traffic Act offence a further Police investigation into this traffic stop revealed that an occupant in this vehicle was in possession of a quantity of Cannabis Marihuana.

Charged with “Possession of Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana” is Pastorino D. RODRIGUEZ 19 years old from Caledon, Ontario. First appearance is July 29th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

ASSAULT POLICE

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On June 27th, 2014 at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were in the area of Beach Drive and stopped 2 males one with open alcohol. Upon a further investigation the male without the alcohol became aggressive and assaultive towards Police. Upon arrest this male was found to be in possession of a quality of Cocaine and Cannabis Marihuana.

Charged with “Assault Peace Officer”, “Possession of Schedule I – Cocaine” and “Possession of Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana” is a 17 year old male from Newmarket, Ontario. First appearance is August 7th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

OPP IDENTIFY FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH VICTIM

On June 27, 2014 Napanee OPP officers responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 28, Denbigh.

The driver has ben identified as Kenneth LEACH, 60 of Whitby.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

TWO MALES IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER OFF ROAD VEHICLE COLLISION

(COCHRANE, ON) -On June 28, 2014 at 6:01 am, members of the Cochrane OPP detachment responded to a two vehicle collision between a three wheeled All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and an off road dirt bike on Concession 2 & 3 Road in Glackmeyer Twp, near Cochrane, Ontario.

As a result of the collision, two male drivers in their early twenties from Cochrane, Ontario have been airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is still unknown and remains under investigation; however alcohol and speed may have been a factor in the collision. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are at the scene as part of the police investigation.

A portion of Concession 2 & 3 Road, East of Genier Road remains closed as police continue their investigation. An alternate route along Concession 2 & 3 Road is available for local traffic residing in the area.

OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH

(DENBIGH, ON) – On June 27, 2014 at approximately 12:00pm, Napanee officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious crash on Highway 28 near Ruby Mine Road, Denbigh.

The lone adult male driver was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries.

The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting Napanee detachment members to determine the cause of the crash.

The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next-of-kin.
