Cesar CUBIAS-GONZALEZ Was Arrested Again

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – One individual is facing charges following an investigation into a disturbance in Leamington.

 At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Leamington Detachment responded to a disturbance on Clark Street East in the Municipality of Leamington.

It was reported that an individual was observed with an edged weapon. Officers arrived on scene and located the individual, who was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, Cesar CUBIAS-GONZALEZ, 39 years of age from Leamington has been Charged with the following offences: 

·        Assault with A Weapon (two counts)

·        Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm (two counts)

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order (three counts)

·        Mischief Under $ 5,000

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Windsor.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Police arrested and charged two people with drug related offences after a traffic stop.

On July 23, 2024, shortly after 2:30 a.m., the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed the passenger of a vehicle not wearing a seatbelt and conducted a traffic stop on Front Street, West Nipissing.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for being a suspended driver and the passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

A search located Canadian currency and drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, cocaine and other drugs.

Onofrio DI PISA, 55 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – three counts
  • Driving under licence of other jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage

Nicole REES, 40 years-of-age, from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – three counts
  • Passenger – fail to properly wear seat belt

Both accused were held for Bail Court and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 24, 2024, in North Bay.

David BRACZKOWSKI – Drunk Driving

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving charges against an individual from Ottawa after an early morning collision.

Shortly after 4:00 a.m on July 24, Ottawa OPP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 417 near St. Laurent. The investigation revealed that one of the drivers was impaired by alcohol. 

David BRACZKOWSKI, 37 years of age has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

As a result, Braczkowski received an immediate 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

Braczkowski was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on September 24, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two more people with impaired driving offences after investigating two separate driving incidents.

On July 23, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. while on patrol on Muskoka Road 118 in Muskoka Lakes Township, a Bracebridge OPP officer conducted a traffic stop after observing the concerning driving behaviour of a person operating a Porche. Police have arrested and charged 32-year-old William GOULD of Toronto, ON with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 10, 2024 to answer to his charges.

Later in the day, July 23, 2024, Bracebridge OPP officers were following up on reports from members of the community about a possible impaired driver in the area of Muskoka Beach Road in Gravenhurst and at 8:00 p.m. noticed a person operating an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on the roadway without a helmet. Officers conducted a traffic stop and soon entered into an impaired driving investigation. Police arrested and charged 33-year-old Kristopher KERRIGAN of Gravenhurst, ON with Impaired Operation- Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b) along with two Off Road Vehicle Act offenses. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 27, 2024 to answer to his charges.

Drivers who are charged with impaired driving offenses also suffer an immediate 90-day drivers licence suspension and have their vehicle impounded.

Christopher DANDO – Impaired Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – One individual is facing several charges following a collision.

On July 20, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Haldimand Highway 54 near Sims Locks.

No injuries were reported.

Upon speaking with the occupants, it was determined that one of the drivers had consumed alcohol and was subsequently taken into custody.

The accused was transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result, 19-year-old Christopher DANDO of Milton was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Driver Fail to Surrender Licence
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 3, 2024

Fatal Sea-Doo Incident

(MARMORA AND LAKE, ON) – One person is deceased after a collision on Crowe River.   

On July 20, 2024, just before 3:00 p.m., Central Hastings OPP, Marmora and Lake Fire Department and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services responded to a collision involving two personal watercraft (Sea-Doos) on Crowe River, near Crowe Lake, Marmora and Lake. 

The initial investigation indicates that a Sea-Doo with two occupants struck the rear of another Sea-Doo that also had two occupants. As a result of the collision, the operator of the Sea-Doo in front was transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries and despite life-saving efforts, the 40-year-old male passenger from Quinte West was pronounced deceased.

The four occupants were wearing life jackets at the time of the collision.

The collision remains under investigation.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On the 23rd of July 2024 a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Warrant was executed at a residence in the Town of Lindsay by members of OPP Central Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, Central Region Emergency Response Team, Central Region K9 and members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Community Street Crime Unit. As a result, the following was seized:

•        $8470 Canadian Currency

•        94 Grams of Fentanyl

•        21.2 Grams of Cocaine

•        38 Benzodiazepines

•        Indicia of trafficking

As a result, Ronald Fitzgerald of Lindsay is charged with

•        Poss. Property over $5000

•        Poss. Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

•        Poss. Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

•        Poss. Purpose of Trafficking – Clonazepam

•        Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Kaylynn Beacock of Lindsay is charged with:

•        Poss. Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl

•        Poss. Purpose of Trafficking – Clonazepam

Both are held for a bail hearing.

Fatal ATV Incident

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal all-terrain vehicle (ATV) incident that occurred overnight in the Township of Ramara.

On July 22, 2024, just before 8:00 a.m., Orillia OPP, Simcoe County Paramedic Service and Township of Ramara Fire, were dispatched to Concession Road A, Ramara Township for a report of an individual next to an all-terrain vehicle located on private property. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as a 31-year-old male of Ramara Township.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation.

Amir JALAL – Sexual Assault

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On June 6, 2024, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a reported sexual offence at an address in Centre Wellington. 

As a result of the investigation, Amir JALAL, 38-years-old of Linwood, has been charged with Sexual Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on August 27, 2024.

Loaded Firearm & Drugs Seized

(TYENDINAGA TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people with multiple offences.

On July 21, 2024, just before 1:30 a.m., officers received a call for a collision on Thomas Street in Deseronto. It was reported that a vehicle had flipped onto its side after colliding with an unoccupied, parked vehicle, and that two people had fled on foot. Investigation revealed the vehicle to have been stolen.

Officers attended and apprehended a female a short time later, who was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Officers then located a male who was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest yielded a loaded firearm. Officers additionally located and seized ammunition, a baton, and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Katelyn SINCLAIR, age 29, of Centre Hastings was charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – three counts
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
  • Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Assault
  • Breach of recognizance

Brodie BERNHARDT, age 30, of Belleville was charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – three counts
  • Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – two counts
  • Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

More Abuse #WaitInTheTruck

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas Detachment, has charged an individual following an intimate partner violence investigation.

On July 22, 2024, at approximately 10:10 p.m., members of the Elgin OPP were dispatched to a residence in the Municipality of Central Elgin for a disturbance.

As a result, a 59-year-old from Sarnia was charged with:

  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle

No life-threatening injuries were reported by the victim.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas at a later date.

Walter MICHIELSENS – Impaired Driving

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – Multiple traffic complaints in Lambton Shores has led to the arrest of an impaired driver.

On July 21, 2024, just after 1:00 p.m., a member of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was made aware of multiple traffic complaints of a vehicle being operated on Lakeshore Road, Municipality of Lambton Shores. Shortly thereafter, police located the vehicle and driver.

As a result of the investigation, Walter MICHIELSENS, 55-year-old of Grand Bend, was charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operate unsafe vehicle

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 10, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.

Caleb Johnston Facing Numerous Charges

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Late last night, Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 35. The result of the traffic stop, lead the officer into an investigation into drug trafficking.

 26-year-old Caleb Johnston from Oshawa was arrested and charged with

–      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine CDSA 5(2)

–      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine CDSA 5(2)

–      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 5(2)

–      Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Opioid (other than heroin) CDSA 5(2)

–      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 CC 354 (1)(a)

–      Possession of over 30g dried cannabis in a public place CA 8(1)(a)

–      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available CCA 12(1)

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear in Court in Lindsay on a later date.

Tools Stolen In Lucknow

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On July 20, 2024, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from an address along Havelock Street in Lucknow, Huron- Kinloss.

Some time between July 18, 2024, and July 20, 2024 a large quantity of tools were taken. 

The list of stolen property includes:

  • Screwdriver set
  • Dewalt drill and sawzall
  • Mastercraft Tool kit
  • Milwaukee Drill Bit set, work light, saw set, zip saw, sawzall and batteries
  • Stihl chainsaw model 170
  • Stihl chainsaw model 391
  • 100amp welder

The value of the stolen tools is estimated to be $3500

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On July 19, 2024, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an address in the Municipality of Kincardine and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old from the Municipality of Kincardine has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

–      Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton at a later date. 

The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victims.
