David McFadyen – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on August 01, 2024 during a call for service.

On August 01, 2024, at approximately 11:00 am, an officer during a call for service at an address in Fenelon Township on Highway 35 entered into an impaired driving investigation. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with Criminal Code offences.

David McFadyen, 55-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

$66,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the North Bay OPP Detachment and the Almaguin Highlands Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) seized a significant amount of drugs and laid multiple charges following a routine traffic stop.

On August 1, 2024, at approximately 9:45 a.m., officers conducting enforcement on Highway 11 in Perry Township stopped a vehicle for speeding. Upon further investigation, the two occupants of the vehicle were arrested. A search of the vehicle led to a seizure of approximately $66,000 worth of illicit drugs.

Shane MOREAU, age 34, of Callander and Derrick STONE, age 35, of Powassan, were charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- oxycodone
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- hydromorphone
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- morphine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- hydromorphcontin
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- hydromorphone 4mg/1mg
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine

In addition, the driver of the vehicle, MOREAU, was charged with nine offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

Both parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.

Drug Bust – Krista LONG & Nichole CHAMBERS

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been arrested and charged with multiple offences after a search warrant in the Town of Tillsonburg.

On August 1st, 2024, members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Oxford, Brant, Elgin and Middlesex Community Street Crime Units and West Region Emergency Response Team executed residential search warrants on Alba Street, in the Town of Tillsonburg.

Two individuals were arrested and taken into custody.

Krista LONG a 37-year-old resident of Tillsonburg was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (four counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order

Nichole CHAMBERS a 32-year-old resident of Tillsonburg was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (three counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm

As a further result of the investigation, suspected fentanyl, psilocybin, cocaine, methamphetamine, clonazepam and a handgun were seized. The approximate street value of the seized controlled substances is over $68000.

The accused individuals are being held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice, located in Woodstock.

Robert ANDERSON Arrested Again

(DRYDEN, ON) – Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP Detachment, arrested and charged a Wabigoon resident for drug trafficking.

On July 31, 2024, just after 6:00 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on Casimir Ave., in the City of Dryden.  Investigation determined that the passenger was in possession of illicit drugs believed for distribution and resale. A search resulted in the seizure of a suspected illicit drug, fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation, Robert ANDERSON, 50-year-old, from Wabigoon, has been arrested and charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts

Accused remains in police custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail court on August 1, 2024.

Drug Bust – Mario Dubois

(CLARENCE-ROCKLAND, ON) – The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted by members of the Russell County Detachment completed another investigation with an arrest and seizure.

On July 26, 2024, the CSCU executed a search warrant in Rockland. Three individuals were arrested at scene and the following items were seized:

  • 17 grams of crack-cocaine
  • A debt list
  • 3 functional digital scales
  • $155 in Canadian Currency
  • Packaging material
  • A cell phone

As a result, Mario Dubois, from the City of Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Control Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine CDSA
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada CC

The accused is to appear at the L’Orignal Court of Justice on August 21, 2024. The other arrested parties were released unconditionally.

2 More Drunk Drivers Arrested

(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals with impaired driving within a single shift.

On Wednesday July 31, 2024, at approximately 6:25pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was dispatched to a call for a single vehicle collision that occurred on County Road 46 in the township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen. The officer arrived on scene to find the vehicle damaged and the driver being assessed by EMS. After the driver was cleared by EMS, the officer spoke with the driver and noted an odour of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Raymond DAVID (age 72) of Havelock, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 3, 2024.

On Wednesday July 31, 2024, just shortly after 10:00pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call for a possible impaired driver in the Buckhorn area. The caller advised that they witnessed a vehicle pull into a local business and back into a gazebo on the property. The caller managed to take the keys from the driver and waited for police arrival. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the driver and made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Ivor JEPPESEN (age 24) of Markham, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 10, 2024.

Jason HAMPLEMAN – Threats

(GOULAIS RIVER, ON)– Tenant threatens another tenant with baseball bat.

On July 29, 2024, shortly after 8:30 p.m., members from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a threat’s complaint on Robertson Road in the Town of Goulais River.

Investigation determined there have been ongoing issues with a certain tenant and the complainant who both reside at the same apartment building on Robertson Road. On July 27, 2024, the complainant was threatened by the accused with a baseball bat. Video footage of the incident was provided to police.      

As a result, Jason HAMPLEMAN, 31 years-of-age from Goulais River was charged with:  Uttering threats-causing death or bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie September 23, 2024.

7 Month Old Cat Executed – Police Seek Public Assistance

(BLIND RIVER, ON)-Cat dies after being shot with low calibre firearm. 

On July 27, 2024, shortly after 12:00 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an animal complaint where a cat was shot on River Road in the Town of Blind River.

Investigation determined on July 26, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the owner let the cat outside and fifteen minutes later the seven-month-old cat returned home with a bloody wound in the mouth and bleeding profusely. The owners transported their pet to a local veterinarian in Elliot Lake where the feline succumbed to its injuries. The X-ray determined the cat had been shot through its mouth, with the low calibre projectile exiting the chin area, penetrated the chest and became lodged causing a fatal injury.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TWP., ON) – Peterborough County / Northumberland OPP Community Street Crime Unit Officers executed a Search Warrant which resulted in three people being arrested and drug related charges being laid.

On July 31, 2024, officers from the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from the Northumberland OPP CSCU and the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), executed a search warrant at a location within Havelock. One person was arrested resulting from a traffic stop. Two individuals located at the residence were also arrested.

During the search, officers located and seized:

·      970 grams of Methamphetamine

·      1 gram of Cocaine

·      2 cell phones

·      5 digital scales

·      Canadian currency

·      1 shotgun

·      3 shotgun shells

Branden LANE (age 34) of Havelock, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

·      Unauthorized possession of a Firearm

·      Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

·      Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

·      Tampering with serial number of a Firearm

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Christopher JAKSIC (age 38) of Havelock, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Unauthorized possession of a Firearm

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 17, 2024.

Jessica KING (age 29) of Bolton, ON, was arrested and charged with:

Murray QUATTROCCHI – Drunk Driving, Hit & Run

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving charges against an individual from Renfrew after they were involved in a fail to remain collision.

Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on July 31, OPP officers received information from Ottawa Police Service (OPS) about a possible impaired driver that they were attempting to locate. The vehicle had been described as a black BMW X3. A short time after, a vehicle matching that description was involved in a collision on Highway 417 near Woodroffe Ave. The vehicle fled the scene, but was located a short time later at a residence by OPP. The driver registered more than three times the legal limit and was found with open alcohol in the vehicle.

Murray QUATTROCCHI, 56 years of age, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to Remain
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

Quattrocchi received an immediate 90-Day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Quatrrocchi was released on an Undertaking and is set to appear in Provincial Court on September 6, 2024.

Drug Bust – Shamar CUMMINGS & Javere GRIGNON

(CALEDON, ON) – Members of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in connection to a drug trafficking investigation.

Earlier this year, the Caledon OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) entered into a drug trafficking investigation. It led investigators to author a search warrant for various locations in Brampton.

On July 30, 2024, the Caledon CSCU, with the assistance of OPP Canine, Peel Regional Police, and OPP CSCU’s from Dufferin, Nottawasaga, Orillia, Huronia West, Collingwood, executed the warrants.  

As a result, Javere GRIGNON, 27, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone

• Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition

• Traffick in Schedule I Substance

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.

Shamar CUMMINGS, 26, of Brampton, was also charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

• Traffick in Schedule I Substance

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 19, 2024, to answer to the charges.

2 Arrested Following ALPR Hit

(MIDLAND,ON) – A traffic stop as a result of a hit on an in car Automated License Plate Recognition scanner in the Town of Midland has led to the arrest of two vehicle drivers after an investigation on July 30, 2024 by members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment.

At approximately 9:22 a.m. officers stopped a red Dodge Charger on Woodland Drive and spoke with the driver and shortly afterwards, entered into a criminal code drivers licence suspension investigation.

During the investigation the driver was arrested and arrangements were made to tow the vehicle to a secure vehicle impound yard. While awaiting the tow truck to arrive, another vehicle attended the scene and the driver interacted with officers resulting in a disturbance at the scene and the second driver was also arrested.

Both arrested persons were transported to Detachment for further investigation, resulting in the following.

The driver, Danielle Louise CAMERON 33 years of Midland has been charged with

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Possess more than one licence (six counts) contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to notify change of address contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The second vehicle driver April CAMERON 53 years of Midland has been charged with

  • Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Fail to surrender insurance card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  • Driver fail to surrender licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Interfere with traffic contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Both accused persons were released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date. The red Dodge Charger was towed and impounded for 45 days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Weapon & Drug Bust – Christopher Bikker Arrested

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – One individual is facing charges following an investigation into the rash of property crime occurring in the Municipality of Meaford and the execution of a search warrant at a residence by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On July 25, 2024, at 3:28 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce CSCU executed a search warrant at a residence on Marshall Street in the Municipality of Meaford.

During the search officers discovered two firearms, a 22-calibre rifle, a pellet gun, kitchen appliances and three bicycles. Total estimated value of seized items  is approximately $22,000.

Charged with the following offences is 43-year-old Christopher Bikker of Meaford with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (two counts)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (five counts)
  • Trafficking in Stolen Goods Under $5000
  • Breach of Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Ammunition
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Posses Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (two counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

The investigation is continuing, and further charges are pending.

Lexus MCKAY – Break & Enter, Assault With Weapon

(RED LAKE, ON) – A Red Lake resident is facing numerous weapons related charges.

On July 29,2024, and at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of an armed individual who had barricaded themselves inside a cabin at Sportsman’s Lodge on Little Vermillion Lake.

Just before 2:00 p.m., and with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators, and the Red Lake Detachment Crime Unit, one individual was safely arrested. The individual was later transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services for further assessment.

As a result, Lexus MCKAY, 25-years-old, of Red Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Reckless discharge of firearm – life or safety
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Pointing a Firearm

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

66 Year Old From ACW Deceased

(GODERICH, ON) – On July 31st, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, Goderich Fire Department and the Canadian Coast Guard (JRCC Trenton) attended the Goderich pier for a report of an unconscious person in the water.

The individual was located by the Canadian Coast Guard and transported to the Goderich Hospital where they were pronounced deceased after extensive life-saving efforts by emergency responders and hospital staff. Officers investigated to find out more information about this individual’s identity. Some time later, a family member reported their loved one missing and the deceased individual was identified as a 66-year-old female from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township.

Police are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner to determine the cause of their death.
