More Impaired Drivers Arrested – Names Released

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four more operators with impaired driving related offenses over the long weekend.

On August 2nd, 2024, at 8:50 p.m. Bracebridge OPP marine unit officers were patrolling the Severn River in Gravenhurst and conducted a vessel stop. Officers entered into an investigation regarding the presence of alcohol and subsequently arrested and charged 26-year-old Ryan BAYLEY of Orillia with Operation while Impaired- Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 27, 2024 to answer to his charge.

On August 3rd, 2024, just before midnight, a concerned member of the public called police regarding a vehicle in the ditch on Beaumont Drive near Stephenson Road in Bracebridge. Officers attended and were able to locate the driver, who was uninjured, and have charged 44-year-old Lorraine HOWDEN of Tiny Township with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 10, 2024, to answer to her charges.

On August 6, 2024 just after 2:00 a.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting general patrol in Bala near a licensed establishment and became concerned about the driving behaviour of a motorist on Muskoka Road 169. The officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested and charged 19-year-old Emery FARQUHAR of Barrie, ON with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on September 24, 2024, to answer to his charges.

Also on August 6, 2024 at 9:30 p.m. a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting general patrol on Muskoka Road in Bracebridge and after observing concerning driving behaviour of another vehicle, conducted a traffic stop on Fraserburg Road near Cedar Lane. The officer soon began an investigation into the presence of alcohol and subsequently arrested and charged 35-year-old Brock FERGUSON of Muskoka Lakes Township with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on September 24, 2024 to answer to his charges.

The penalty in Ontario for impaired driving charges will include an immediate 90-day drivers license suspension and a minimum 7-day vehicle impoundment. An impaired operation of a vessel will also result in an immediate 90 day drivers license suspension.

Furthermore, in the province of Ontario, every driver of a motor vehicle who is under the age of 21 years must have a zero alcohol in their blood.

Joshua FLINT: Drug Trafficking

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual is facing multiple charges following an investigation into drug trafficking, which involved the execution of a search warrant at a residence by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand/Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

At approximately 3:50 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP CSCU, assisted by the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and Tactics and Rescue Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

As a result, one individual was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the residence resulted in the discovery and seizure of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, cocaine, fentanyl, oxycodone, and Adderall. Additionally, Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 28-year-old Joshua FLINT of Norfolk County:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin) (two counts),
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Jeffrey Alexander Facing Numerous Charges

(MEAFORD, ON) – One person is facing charges after the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a driver that could not maintain their lane. 

On August 3, 2024, at 1:07 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a traffic complaint advising that a pickup truck was unable to maintain its lane on Highway 26 in the Municipality of Meaford. The Grey Bruce OPP located the motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. As the police officer was speaking to the driver, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. The driver refused the approved screening device (ASD).

As a result, Jeffrey Alexander, 54-years-old from South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Insecure load
  • Driver fail to surrender license

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Owen Sound on August 22, 2024.

Existing legislation allows an officer to make a demand for a roadside breath sample when they have reasonable suspicion. The legislation gives officers who have an Approved Screening Device (ASD) the authority to make a demand for a roadside breath sample from any lawfully stopped driver to determine whether a person has alcohol in their body. It is mandatory for drivers to comply with this demand, or they can be charged with failing or refusing to provide a breath sample.

Drug Bust: Names Released

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a quantity of drugs and charged two individuals after conducting a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Orangeville.

On August 2, 2024, members of the Dufferin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), along with Caledon CSCU, D Platoon and K9 executed a search warrant at a home in Orangeville. The search warrant resulted in the arrest of two parties who are facing multiple charges. In addition, the officers seized a quantity of various drug related items. 

Jesse DOBRZANSKI, a 30-year-old male from Collingwood has been charged with:

·        Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

·        Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs

Leanne CARLE, a 55-year-old female from Collingwood has been charged with:

·        Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

·        Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Other Drugs

·        Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)

·        Poss of a Schedule II substance – Other drugs

·        Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

·        Traffick in Schedule I substance- Cocaine

·        Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Other Drugs

·        Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)

Kevin DALLAIRE: Assault & Drunk Driving

(LONGLAC, ON) – Members of the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.

On August 3rd, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., members of the Greenstone OPP Detachment responded to a call for service of a possible impaired driver on Chipman Lake Road.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Greenstone OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Kevin DALLAIRE, 41-years-old, of Longlac ON, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Mischief Under $5,000

• Assault

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Longlac on September 18th, 2024.

Wiliam KRANZ: Drunk Driving

(KILLALOE, ON) – Police have laid criminal charges on a driver.

On August 2, 2024, just after 4:00 a.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), conducted a well being check on a driver parked on 60 Highway, in the Township of North Algona Wilberforce.

As part of the investigation, the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old Wiliam KRANZ of North Algona Wilberforce was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      impaired operation; and,

·      impaired over 80.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on August 28, 2024, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle towed and impounded.

Dylan Patrick COMEAU: Break & Enter

(LAMBTON COUNTY, ON) – On person has been arrested and charged after a break and enter investigation in Arkona.

On July 31, 2024, members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a property on Townsend Line, Arkona, Lambton County, for the report of a break and enter.

Officers with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Service (FIS) processed evidence located at the scene.

Members from Lambton County and Essex County OPP Community Street Crime Units were engaged to assist with the investigation and executed a search warrant at a residence in the 8000 block of Townsend Line. Investigators located stolen property from the initial Break end Enter as well as property that was reported stolen from two previous Break and Enters on Townsend Line on 26 April 2024.

As a result, Dylan Patrick COMEAU, a 28-year-old, from Arkona has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Break and Enter commit theft (Three Counts)

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia to speak to the charges on September 9, 2024.

John Phillip CHILLCOTT – Drunk Driving

(MIDLAND,ON) – Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment set up a R.I.D.E. program in the interest of road safety on Highway 12 near Wye Valley Road, Midland at approximately 12:30 a.m. August 3, 2024.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a pick up truck entered the R.I.D.E. and an officer entered into a drinking and driving investigation after speaking with the driver.

As a result of this investigation, John Phillip CHILLCOTT 52 years of Gloucester has been charged criminally with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on August 15, 2024 was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Ashley LUCKEY – Drunk Driving

(NORTH BAY, ON) – Operator is charged for impaired operation of vessel. 

On August 2, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting marine patrol on Lake Nipissing, North Bay.

During their patrol a vessel was stopped, which had an operator and two passengers onboard.

As a result of the investigation the operator was arrested and charged.

Ashley LUCKEY, 57 years-of-age of North Bay was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Having care of control of boat underway with open container of liquor

The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and is scheduled to appear at the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice on September 10, 2024.

One passenger, a 50-year-old-person, from Orillia, was further charged with consuming liquor in unauthorized place.

AMANPREET SINGH Facing Charges

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

On August 3, 2024, shortly before 2:00 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Mayfield Road, near Centreville Creek Road, when a traffic stop was initiated for a Highway Traffic Act violation. During the interaction, the officer formed a reasonable suspicion that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, AMANPREET SINGH, 31, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand

• Prohibited use of alternating high beam headlights

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 22, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Caledon OPP would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that failure or refusal to comply with a demand in an impaired operation investigation is a criminal offence. Furthermore, the consequences an individual will face are the same as being charged with impaired operation.

Home Invasion & Abduction: One Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his involvement in the kidnapping of Elnaz HAJTAMIRI has been apprehended on an unrelated warrant in the United States.

On August 5, 2024, Deshawn DAVIS was apprehended in Redway, California, by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and deputy U.S. marshals in the Northern District of California. DAVIS had been added to the Bolo Program’s Canada’s 25 Most Wanted and the USMS’ 15 Most Wanted Fugitive lists this year.

On January 12, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an abduction from a residence on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach. The suspects, described as three black males dressed in police gear, but not actual police uniforms, claimed to be there to arrest the victim. When the homeowner became suspicious and tried to call 9-1-1, he was overpowered and the victim was abducted. The suspects fled in a vehicle described as a white sport utility vehicle (SUV), believed to be a Lexus RX. Elnaz has not been seen since the abduction.

The victim, 37-year-old at the time, Elnaz HAJTAMIRI (also goes by the surname TAMIRI), is described as female, 160 cm (5’3″) tall, slim build, with shoulder-length black hair. Photos of Elnaz are available at opp.ca/news/#/mediakit.

Investigators will continue to collaborate with law enforcement in the United States to further the investigation into the kidnapping of Elnaz.

Two More Impaired Drivers: Renato CIANI & Owen ALLEN

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers have removed and charged two drivers with impaired operation related offences.

On August 3, 2024, just after 8:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a fail to remain motor vehicle collision, in the area of County Road 124 in the Township of Melancthon. Officers located the vehicle and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Renato CIANI, 63-year-old male, from Mississauga has been charged with:

•      Failure to stop after accident

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

On August 3, 2024, just after 9:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers conducted a traffic stop, in the area of Alder Street in the Town of Orangeville. Officers spoke with the driver and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Owen ALLEN, 19-year-old male, from East Garafraxa has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested: Names Released

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged six drivers in impaired driving related investigations.

On August 1, 2024, just before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to an address on Heritage Drive in the village of Bath for a well-being check. When officers arrived, they located an individual in a vehicle. Officers spoke to the driver, who was subsequently arrested.

Investigation revealed the driver to be nearly three and a half times the legal alcohol limit.

As a result, a 63-year-old female from Bath was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On August 3, 2024, just before 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint on County Road 41 in Greater Napanee. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Wesley TYNER, age 40, of Napanee was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Smoke tobacco in motor vehicle while another person less than 16 years old present
  • Abandoning material that is likely to become litter

On August 3, 2024, just before 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision involving an ATV on Peters Road in Loyalist Township. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the driver and a passenger. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested.

The driver and passenger were both transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, Keegan FROST, age 21, of Napanee was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
  • Fail to wear proper helmet
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to surrender licence
  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

On August 4, 2024, just after 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 401 eastbound in Greater Napanee. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Andrii KLIUCHNIKOV, age 46, of Etobicoke was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On August 4, 2024, just before 3:30 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Bath Road in Loyalist Township. Officers arrived and spoke to the driver who was not injured. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, a 19-year-old from Loyalist Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

On August 4, 2024, just before 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 28 in Addington Highlands Township. Officers were advised that the driver was observed leaving the scene. Officers attended and located the driver of the vehicle at a nearby residence. As part of the investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, George EDWARDS, age 32, of Mississauga was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

All accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.

More Impaired Drivers: Jonathan ZADOW & Barbara MIRECKI

(KILLALOE, ON) – Police have laid impaired charges on two drivers involved in recent collisions.

On August 2, 2024, just before 10:00 p.m., members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the Township of Bonnechere Valley.

As a result of this investigation, 42-year-old Jonathan ZADOW of Eganville was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Impaired Operation; and,
  • Refusal to Comply With Demand.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on August 28, 2024, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle towed and impounded. No reported injuries.

On August 3, 2024, just after 10:00 p.m., police responded to a single vehicle collision on Old Barry’s Bay Road involving a passenger car in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

As a result of this investigation, 74-year-old Barbara MIRECKI of Chicago was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Impaired Operation; and,

·      Over 80.

The driver sustained nonlife threatening injuries in this collision and was transported to the hospital by paramedics. The licence was seized, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

More Impaired Drivers: Kevin HOLLAND & Benjamin WOODWARD

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 35 over the weekend. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving offences.

Kevin HOLLAND, 40-year-old from Dunsford was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

Another traffic complaint over the weekend on County Road 121 just north of Fenelon Falls resulted in Benjamin WOODWARD 40-years-old from Fenelon Falls being arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition to the charges the drivers received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
