2 From Brampton Arrested In Butter Heist

On Sunday February 23, 2025, a Loss Prevention Officer at an upper east side grocery store observed three males steal several containers of ghee from the store. The males left in a vehicle and attended another retailer nearby. That same Loss Prevention Officer, now off duty, happened to be in that store and recognized the three males. Believing that the males would steal from that store, he contacted the Owen Sound Police Service. As a result, police attended and located the culprits in their vehicle, before they were able to slip away with over $1000.00 worth of butter and almost $300.00 worth of ghee.

Two men from Brampton, aged 24yrs and 21yrs, as well as a 21yr old man from Caledon, face two charges each of Theft Under $5000.00 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The men are scheduled to make a court appearance in Owen Sound in March.

14 Year Old Arrested After Bomb Threat

A Guelph teenager has been arrested after a bomb threat which shut down a local high school Monday.

Approximately 6:15 a.m., police received a call from an administrator at John F Ross CVI about a threatening email received overnight.

The Upper Grand District School Board moved the day’s classes to online, instructing all staff and students to stay away from the school. Several Guelph Police Service officers surrounded the school until an extensive search was completed by members of the Tactics and Rescue Unit with assistance from an OPP canine unit trained to detect explosives.

Nothing of concern was located in the school and the building was turned over to school board officials approximately 11:30 a.m.

As a result of the investigation, a 14-year-old from Guelph was located and arrested for public mischief and two counts of uttering threats. The youth has been released with an upcoming court date.

The Guelph Police Service recognizes the importance of school safety and how threats of this nature can be difficult for students, staff, and their families. Police take incidents like this extremely seriously and will continue to work closely with school boards to help identify the individuals responsible and lay the appropriate criminal charges when a suspect is identified.

Witnesses sought after driver flees

The Guelph Police Service is asking for the public’s help after a driver fled from an officer Friday afternoon.

Shortly after 3 p.m. a member of the Guelph Police Traffic Unit was conducting speed enforcement at Gordon Street and Landsdown Drive when he observed a white Volkswagen travelling approximately 100 km/h and weaving around other vehicles.

The officer activated his lights and siren in an attempt to pull over the vehicle, however the driver seemed to be accelerating. In the interest of public safety the vehicle was not pursued.

The vehicle was described as a white four-door Volkswagen Golf with a possible dent over the left front wheel. It was last seen running a red light to turn from Gordon Street to Arkell Road.

Knives wielded during neighbour dispute

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a neighbour dispute turned violent.

Approximately 12:35 a.m. Saturday police were called to an apartment building in the west end. A tenant advised she heard banging then saw a neighbour in the hallway with a large knife.

Investigation revealed police have been called to the building several times for disputes between two tenants. On Saturday morning one of them banged on the other’s door while holding two large kitchen knives. When the other tenant opened the door, the accused allegedly made a stabbing motion towards her with one of the knives.

A 65-year-old Guelph woman was apprehended and transported to the hospital for an assessment. The investigation is ongoing.

Arrest for missing court on serious charges

A Guelph woman who missed a court date on serious charges including robbery was arrested following a disturbance Saturday morning.

Just before 10 a.m. police were called to an apartment in the west end for a report of two women yelling at each other. Investigation revealed one of them was wanted for missing a court date last month for robbery, break and enter, assault and other charges.

A 36-year-old Guelph woman was arrested on a further charge of failing to appear in court. She was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court March 18.

Two impaired arrests

Two Guelph men face impaired driving charges following separate incidents on the weekend.

Approximately 9 p.m. Saturday police were called following a minor collision in a downtown parking lot. The complainant advised he was sitting in his car when another vehicle reversed into it, causing minor damage, then drove away. The complainant followed the other car and got the licence plate number.

Officers attended the owner’s address a short time later and could smell alcohol on his breath. After failing a roadside breath test he was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 38-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday, an officer was driving an unmarked cruiser when a motorist passed at a high rate of speed and was clocked on radar travelling 107 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

The officer followed the suspect and was eventually able to pull it over. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 54-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving, speeding and stunt driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to always consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.

Fire – One Sent To Hospital

On February 20th 2025 at approximately 3:55pm Saugeen Shores Police were dispatched to a report of a fire at a residential address in the 300 block of Bricker Street, Port Elgin.

Saugeen Shores Fire Services and Paramedics also attended and were able to extract an adult female from the second story of the home. She was transported by Paramedics to Hospital for further medical assessment. 

No other people were located within the home.

At this time the fire is not considered suspicious.

Infant Dead – Police Investigating

(POINT EDWARD, ON) – Members of the Lambton County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a death of an infant in Point Edward.

On February 22, 2025, at approximately 1:23 a.m., emergency services responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at a residence on St. Clair Street. The infant was transported to hospital and pronounced deceased.

The investigation is being conducted by the Lambton OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

SEIP Was Arrested Again – Details Released

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On February 19, 2025, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an assault that took place along 1st Avenue South in Chesley. 

On February 21, 2025, the South Bruce OPP were able to arrest one individual in relation to this matter, with the assistance of the OPP’s West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT).

As a result of the investigation, Derek SEIP, 30-years-old of Arran-Elderslie has been charged with:

·      Assault, CC 266

·      Assault with a weapon, CC 267(a)

·      Carrying concealed weapon, CC 90

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order, CC 733.1(1)

·      Trespassing at night, CC 177

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered: Katie LONGLADE Arrested

 (OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – One individual is facing charges after stealing a vehicle from a driveway in the Town of Ingersoll.

 On February 22, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., members of Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on Victoria Street in Ingersoll.

 The vehicle was recovered a short time later on Noxon Street in Ingersoll.

 As a result of the investigation, Katie LONGLADE, a 39-year-old resident of Ingersoll has been charged with:

·      Theft of Motor Vehicle

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

 The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on March 18, 2025.

Cody HENRY: Drunk Driving

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – The Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a Brantford resident with three charges stemming from a motor vehicle collision.

On February 22, 2025, at approximately 11:10 p.m., members of the Brant County OPP received a call about a motor vehicle collision in a parking lot off of Powerline Rd in Brant County involving a single motor vehicle. 

As a result of the investigation, Cody HENRY, 34-years-old of Brantford is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Brantford on March 6, 2025.

Home Invasion: David ISAAC Arrested

(WALPOLE ISLAND FIRST NATION, ON) – One individual was arrested following a break and enter on Walpole Island First Nation.

On February 21, 2025, at approximately 11:58 a.m., members of the Walpole Island Police Service, along with members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a weapons call at a residence on Tecumseh Road, Walpole Island First Nation.

Investigation revealed an individual entered a home, brandished a firearm, and then left the residence. 

Officers attended the area, located the individual, and safely took them into custody without incident. The involved firearm was seized.

No injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, David ISAAC, 38-year-old of Walpole Island First Nation was arrested and charge under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with prohibition order (two counts)
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Firearm – Use while committing offence
  • Imitation firearm – Use while committing offence

The accused was held pending a bail hearing and was subsequently remanded into custody. The individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Sarnia on February 25, 2025.

Thomas KIRBY: Impaired Operation

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Fergus resident with two criminal charges stemming from a two-motor vehicle collision.

On February 22, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP attended the scene of a two motor-vehicle collision on Tower Street with Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, Thomas KIRBY, a 69-year-old of Fergus is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on March 25, 2025.

Andrew BERBERICK Was Arrested Again #RepeatOffender

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Police responded to a report of an individual with a firearm in the Township of Perth East.

On February 22nd, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Perth East Public Library after receiving a report of a person brandishing a firearm.

As a result of this investigation, Andrew BERBERICK, 48-years-old of Mitchell, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Mischief
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The firearm was determined to be an airsoft gun. There were no injuries. 

The accused was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear for bail court on February 23rd, 2025 out of Stratford, ON.

Brett DUNSBIER Was Arrested: Details Released

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On February 20, 2025, at approximately 10:38 p.m., a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check a vehicle along Durham Street, Municipality of Kincardine.

The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the involved driver. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Brett DUNSBIER, 29-years-old, of Brockton, was charged with:

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on April 9, 2025.

Robin VIRK Was Arrested

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Members of theLennox and Addington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Emergency Response Team have arrested two people after an investigation revealed the two vehicles they were travelling in were stolen.

On Friday, February 21, 2025, officers observed the suspicious vehicles travelling eastbound on the 401 Highway near Highway 41. After confirming the vehicles were stolen, officers safely stopped the Range Rover at the Odessa Onroute, and a Toyota Highlander was then stopped at the Montreal Street exit in the City of Kingston. A search of the vehicles confirmed that individuals were using two-way radios to communicate with each other.

Robin VIRK, age 20, of Niagara Falls and Ron HARDING, age 48, of Ajax have been jointly charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5000
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possessing automobile master key
  • Possession of break in instruments

VIRK was released following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on March 25, 2025. HARDING was remanded in custody with another court appearance scheduled for today (February 24, 2025).

Drug Bust Following Collision: MOORE & PATROIS-HAYBECKER

(RENFREW, ON) – Two people have been arrested and a significant quantity of illegal drugs seized after a single vehicle collision in Renfrew.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. today (Monday, February 24, 2025), officers with the Renfrew Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on Lochiel Street, but the vehicle fled. It was found a short distance away after it left the road and crashed along Ma-Te-Way Park Drive. The driver fled on foot, while a passenger remained in the car. A search of the vehicle located suspected fentanyl, suspected cocaine and suspected methamphetamine. Officers also seized items typically associated with drug trafficking. The passenger was arrested at the scene and the driver was located and arrested nearby, with assistance from the OPP Canine Unit.

Tyler MOORE, age 43 of Arnprior has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – two counts
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Failing to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Operation of a vehicle without insurance
  • Using a plate not authorized for a vehicle
  • Driving a vehicle while failing to display two licence plates

Ashley PATROIS-HAYBECKER, age 19 or Arnprior, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both of the accused were held in custody and scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 24, 2025.

$20,000 Stolen From Charity: Courtney Pare Arrested

(Parham, ON) – A theft investigation was completed into missing funds from the Parham Agricultural Society and has resulted in a charge.

Frontenac OPP investigated a theft complaint with approximately $20,000 in funds missing from accounts registered to the charity non-profit group that operates the Parham Fair annually.

Courtney Pare, a 42-year-old female from Verona has been charged with Theft over $5000.

The accused was released from custody to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on April 1, 2025.
