Shovel Attacks – Vehicles Damaged

A Guelph man faces robbery, weapons and mischief charges after several incidents early Friday.

Approximately 2:20 a.m. police were called about a man walking in the street near Victoria Road North and Speedvale Avenue East carrying a shovel. The man struck three passing vehicles with the shovel, causing damage to each of them.

More than 20 minutes later, the same man entered a business near Victoria Road North and Eramosa Road. He tried unsuccessfully to buy cigarettes before threatening staff and eventually leaving with stolen products.

As officers were in the area searching for the suspect, police received a report of a man inside a business at Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North. After another unsuccessful attempt to buy items, he threatened staff while attempting to steal beer.

He was located in the area by officers a few minutes later and arrested.

A 42-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts of robbery, three counts of mischief under $5,000, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, breach of probation and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.

21-Year-Old From Brockton Arrested – Details Released, Not Him #3Strikes #OPP #Crime

(BROCKTON, ON) – On September 24, 2025, at approximately 4:54 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver on Bruce Road 1, south of Paisley.

Police located the vehicle and identified the driver, who then fled from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed. Police continued to receive additional driving complaints about this vehicle throughout the area, driving at high speeds and into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was later located the vehicle at a residence along Bruce Road 1 where an arrest was made.

Brett HAGAN, 21-years-old, resident of Brockton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Flight from peace officer, CC 320.17 – two counts
  • Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1)
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, LLCA 42(1)(b)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

Jamey BARNES Arrested At RIDE – Details Released

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an impaired driving investigation in Port Ryerse.

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at approximately 1:36 p.m., Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Front Road in Port Ryerse when they stopped a vehicle to assess the driver’s sobriety.

As a result of the interaction, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 26-year-old Jamey BARNES of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

South Drive Raid: Drugs, Cash, Imitation Firearms Seized — LINDSAY Charged

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual is facing charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Simcoe led by the Haldimand/Norfolk Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, at approximately 6:13 a.m., members of the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP CSCU executed a search warrant at a residence on South Drive in Simcoe.

During the operation, one individual was taken into custody without incident. A search of the residence led to the seizure of suspected cocaine, ecstasy (MDMA), Canadian currency, drug-related paraphernalia, and two imitation firearms.

A photograph of the seized items is attached for reference.

As a result, 43-year-old Marcus LINDSAY of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine,
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs,
  • Possession of a property obtained by crime under $5,000,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada,
  • Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Child Struck Boarding School Bus Despite Lights & Stop Arm – Hit & Run #Crime #OPP

(HARLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – A child was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle.

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, shortly before 7:50 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Temiskaming Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Harley and Dymond Fire Departments, responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a child on Highway 569 in Harley Township.

Investigation revealed that the child was struck while crossing the roadway to board their school bus. The school bus had it’s stop-arm out and flashing lights activated at the time. The driver of the involved vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the collision.

Police are looking for both the driver and the involved vehicle. The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured sedan with possible front-end damage.

Man Charged After Driving Into Closed Collision Scene in South Huron #OPP #Crime

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with criminal driving offences following a traffic stop in the Municipality of South Huron, on September 20th, 2025. 

Just after 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Huron County OPP officers stopped a motorist on London Road in South Huron after police observed a vehicle approaching a collision scene being investigated by OPP officers. The road was closed at the time for the safety of the investigators and protection of the scene. Police spoke to the driver and discovered that they had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Joseph BAIRD, 32 years-of-age from London has been charged with:

–      Impaired Operation – alcohol and drug,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) – Drive on closed highway.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 03, 2025.

Distinctive Penny Farthing Bike Valued at $3,000 Stolen #OPP #Crime

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a theft and is seeking assistance from the public.

On September 5, 2025, police received a report regarding the theft of a number of items from a residential address in the Township of Hamilton.

Among the items stolen was a vintage bicycle valued at approximately $3,000.  It can be described as a Penny Farthing and is distinctive with one large front wheel and smaller rear wheel.

The OPP is releasing an image of the bicycle and are looking for information regarding the incident and the whereabouts of the item.

OPP Hunt Two Suspects After Clearview Shooting — Victim Survives

(CLEARVIEW, ON) – Police are releasing a video and a sketch of a suspect seeking the public’s help in an ongoing shooting investigation in Clearview Township.

On Friday, August 15, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a shooting on a property on 15/16 Side Road near Highway 26. Officers located one individual with a gunshot wound, who was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Investigators believe that two individuals arrived at the property in a sedan. Following a verbal altercation, the passenger shot the victim before both suspects fled the scene in a dark-coloured 2011 to 2018 Volkswagen Jetta or Passat with Ontario plates.

The two suspects are described as:

Suspect #1 (passenger): 

• Male

• White with lighter complexion 

• Sandy brown hair

• May be older than the driver

Suspect #2 (driver): 

• Male 

• Possibly of Portuguese, Greek or Italian descent with darker complexion

• Beard 

• May be between 39 and 42 years old

There is no concern for public safety at this time.

This investigation is being conducted by the Huronia West OPP Detachment under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

Huron County OPP Warn Parents: Kids Under 16 Can’t Ride E-Scooters #YouWereWarned

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to provide some up-to-date information pertaining to battery-powered scooters (e-scooters) as police are seeing a number of people, including children under the age of 16 years operating these in our communities.

Two-wheeled electric scooters are becoming very popular, especially with the younger segment of our population. E-scooters are reasonably priced, portable, and fun to ride. The problem is that many people do not know what laws and restrictions apply to these vehicles.

In Ontario, municipalities can create by-laws that either allow or restrict the use of e-scooters on their roadways. Most municipalities DO NOT allow e-scooters on their roadways. Generally, e-scooters are only allowed to be operated on private property.

Check with your local municipality for e-scooter information in your area.

Assault In South Huron! Repeat Offender Arrested Again! #WaitInTheTruck #3Strikes

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – On September 18th, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of South Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed criminal acts against their partner.

A 30-year-old individual from South Huron has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault – Spousal,

–      Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm,

–      Voyeurism,

–      Fail to Comply with Release Order.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and remanded into custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Three Warrants Executed — Two Arrested, Guns & Cash Seized #OPP #Crime

(Longlac, ON) – An investigation led by the Greenstone Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance of the Organized Crime Enforcement Branch, and the Emergency Response Team lead to the execution of three search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and two individuals being arrested

On August 22nd, 2025, at approximately 5:00p.m., uniformed members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Dieppe Road in Longlac. The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of illicit substances, proceeds of crime, and multiple firearms.

As a result of the investigation, Joe NIEMAN, 50-years-old of Longlac, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

–      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – in Canada

Ashley LUCAS, 43-year-old of Longlac, has been arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

–      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – in Canada

Both parties were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Longlac on October 8, 2025.

Adam SINGER Charged With Theft

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Individual from Middlesex Centre charged with theft after shoplifting incident at a local business in Komoka.

On September 18, 2025, at 6:22 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a business plaza on Glendon Drive in Komoka, Municipality of Middlesex Centre, for the report of a theft.

The individual fled the area prior to police arrival, however, through investigation, OPP officers were able to identify the individual.

As a result, Adam SINGER, a 38-year-old of Middlesex Centre, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on November 13, 2025, to speak to the charge.

School Bus Vs Parked Car Collision – 30 Children On Bus, 73 Year Old Charged

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-motor vehicle collision, involving a school bus and a parked vehicle.

On September 23, 2025, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a school bus colliding into a parked vehicle on Black Street, within Fergus.

There were approximately 30 children on the school bus, no injuries were reported. The parked vehicle was unoccupied.

As a result of the investigation, a 73-year-old of Fergus is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Change lane – not in safety.

Private broker arrested in ongoing investigation

A Guelph man who claimed to be a private mortgage and loan broker has been arrested during an ongoing investigation into alleged misappropriation of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Guelph Police Service’s Fraud Unit executed a search warrant last week at the male’s residence and seized multiple electronic devices and documents pertaining to the investigation.

Between 2019 and 2024, the man allegedly impersonated clients to secure unauthorized loans, accepted funds for fake loans without investing them as agreed, and claimed borrowers were unable to keep up with loan repayments leading to some investors with significant financial losses.

The Guelph Police Service is aware of several victims and losses in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The investigation is ongoing.

A 48-year-old Guelph man is charged with four counts of fraud over $5,000, 17 counts of uttering a forged document and nine counts of identity theft. He will appear in court November 4.

SUV used to pull store door open

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after suspects used a truck to pull the door open at a north-end business early Wednesday.

Approximately 4:50 a.m. a security company called police to report the break-in at a business near Woodlawn Road West and Arrow Road. Two men had attached a chain to an SUV and used it to pull open the front door, shattering the glass in the process. Officers arrived minutes later but the suspects were gone.

A large number of smoke detectors and electrical breakers were reported missing.

The first suspect was wearing a dark grey sweatshirt over a blue or green shirt, grey baseball cap, black pants and black shoes with white soles. The second was wearing a light grey sweatshirt, black pants, dark shoes with white soles, red gloves and a ball cap. They were driving a black Ford Explorer.

Impaired charge after erratic driving

A Guelph man faces impaired driving charges after witnesses reported his erratic driving Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m. a witness reported a blue SUV being driven on the wrong side of the road and into oncoming lanes at York Road and Elizabeth Street. The erratic driving continued towards the downtown, with the subject vehicle at times completely on the wrong side of the road forcing other drivers to take evasive action.

Officers located and pulled the vehicle over on Wellington Street West. They detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and noted he needed their help when exiting the vehicle as he was unable to stand without falling over.

He was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests revealed he had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 74-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He will appear in court October 10.

The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to consume alcohol and cannabis responsibly. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.

Violent Home Invasion, Police Withold Name Endangering Community! Who’s Next? #StandYourGround?

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025 the St. Thomas Police Service responded to multiple 911 calls reporting someone requesting help in the area of Elm Street.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., officers arrived and discovered the front door of a residence forced open and damaged. The home was found empty.

A short time later, police located the victim with visible injuries, confirming them to be the resident of the home. The victim reported being awoken by the sound of the front door being forced open before being violently assaulted. They sustained significant injuries as a result.

Through investigation, police identified the suspect as a 55 year old St. Thomas resident who is known to the victim.

With the assistance of the North Bay OPP Offender Management and Apprehension Team, the individual was located and arrested without incident.

The accused has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Assault with a Weapon
