Darren BOUCHA – Drunk Driving

(KENORA, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision has resulted in impaired charges.

On June 10, 2024, shortly before midnight, members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Airport Road in the City of Kenora.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Kenora OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Darren BOUCHA, 51-years-old, of Kenora has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 4, 2024.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

Theodore BLACKBIRD-JOHN Was Arrested

(ENNISKILLEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Friday June 7, 2024, at just before 9:00 p.m., a uniform member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Petrolia Line, Enniskillen Township, for a Highway Traffic Act violation.    

In speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the OPP officer suspected the driver of previously consuming alcoholic beverages. A roadside screening device was administered. The driver was consequently placed under arrest and transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for breath testing where the accused refused to provide breath samples upon demand.  

Theodore BLACKBIRD-JOHN, a 35-year-old from Wallaceburg, ON has been charged with the following:

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Drive Motor Vehicle-Fail to Display Two Plates

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on July 8, 2024. The motor vehicle has been impounded for a period of 7 days and the driver has had their license suspended for a period of 90 days.

Karson WHITE Arrested For Cocaine

(PLYMPTON-WYOMING TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday June 9, 2024, at just prior to 3:30 a.m., a uniform member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Confederation Line, Town of Plympton-Wyoming for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

During the traffic stop, the officer located a quantity of suspected illegal drugs in the vehicle, cocaine, with an estimated street value of approximately $800.

Karson WHITE, 21-year-old, from Watford, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on July 17, 2024.

Osabuohien Francis IYANGBE Arrested For Sexual Assault

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – In April 2024, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police Major Crime Unit (OPP) began an investigation into a reported sexual offence at an address in Wellington North. 

As a result of the investigation, Osabuohien Francis IYANGBE, 50-years-old of Uxbridge, has been charged with Sexual Assault contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on July 2, 2024.

Thomas FLETCHER Was Arrested Again

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested an individual after a report of a disturbance in a residence in the Town of Huntsville.   

On June 7, 2024, at 4:13a.m., officers of the Huntsville OPP detachment responded to a report of a disturbance at an address on Ferguson Road in the Town of Huntsville. When officers arrived, an individual was arrested for assaulting two individuals.   

As a result of the investigation, Thomas FLETCHER 34-years-old of Huntsville was arrested and charged with: 

  • Assault – two counts
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Uttering threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The victims received minor injuries and did not require transport to a medical facility.  

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.

Serguei PETROV Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid several charges against an individual from the Ottawa area after they were stopped while operating an E-Bike on Highway 417.

On June 10, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., an Ottawa OPP member observed the accused operating an E-Bike on Highway 417 in Ottawa’s east end. The driver was stopped by officers and it was determined that they were impaired by alcohol. 

Serguei PETROV, aged 41 of Ottawa, faces the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act Charges:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Motorcycle Driven by Electricity on Controlled-Access Highway
  • Driving While Under Suspension

Petrov also received a 90-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days. 

Petrov is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on July 5, 2024.

Charles MCKIE Was Arrested

(TINY TOWNSHIP,ON) – A Washago driver self reported to the OPP Communication Centre a single vehicle crash into a tree on Awenda Park Road, Tiny Township at approximately 3:09 p.m. June 8, 2024.

The investigating officer located a demolished Jeep alongside the 40 Km/hr stretch of roadway and upon speaking with the nearby driver, entered into a drinking and driving investigation.

As a result, Charles MCKIE 39 years was transported by Simcoe County Paramedic Services treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital and upon completion of the investigation was charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 20, 2024, was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Sydney Luke Was Arrested

(Inverary, ON) – A driver was arrested for impaired driving, as a result, of a traffic stop involving an individual previously involved in a call for service.

On June 04, 2024, just after 4:00 pm, OPP officers from the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service about a vehicle dispute. When the officers departed after resolving the dispute, they observed an individual drive away. The officer followed the vehicle a short distance, conducting a traffic stop and determining that the driver was impaired. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Sydney Luke, age 35 of South Frontenac Township, was charged with:

  • ·      operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on July 23, 2024. They also had their drivers license suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

One Traffic Stop, Two Arrests

(PETERBOROUGH, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop which resulted in two people being charged with weapons offences.

On June 7, 2024, Peterborough County OPP officers were conducting general patrol when a vehicle caught their attention as it appeared to be swerving in its lane. Officers conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver, observed drug paraphernalia within reach of the driver. During the interaction, officers observed a magazine for a firearm in the rear of the vehicle. Upon investigation, both the magazine and a rifle were located in the vehicle. The driver and passenger were both queried and it was determined that both were currently on weapons prohibitions. Both were arrested on scene.

Jesse GARLOW (age 39) of Douro-Dummer Twp, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

·      Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

·      Careless storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

·      Possession of Break in Instruments

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Jonathan GUTHRIE (age 37) of Whitby, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

·      Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

·      Careless storage of a Firearm, Weapon , Prohibited device or ammunition

·      Possession of Break in Instruments

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused were held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.

Kelsey ODBER Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- Multiple reports of a car in a ditch on Highway 108.

On June 7, 2024, shortly before 7:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a black SUV that was all over the road and tailgating on Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore. 

The black SUV then travelled northbound on Highway 108. A short time later, OPP began receiving multiple reports of a black SUV that was in a ditch on Highway 108 south of Nordic Mine Road in the City of Elliot Lake.

Investigation determined the black SUV was northbound on Highway 108, hit the gravel shoulder and was pulled into the northbound ditch with its airbags deployed. 

The driver failed an Approved Screening Device (A.S.D) check at the roadside and was arrested and transported to Elliot Lake detachment for further testing.

As a result, Kelsey ODBER, 36 years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 11, 2024.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days with the driver being issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Lucille MIRON Was Arrested

(WEST NIPISSINGON) – Police arrested and charged one person after a report of an unwanted person on the property.

On June 10, 2024, shortly before 9:30 a.m., Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an unwanted person at a residence on Demers Street, West Nipissing.

No injuries were reported when the unwanted person damaged property and assaulted the homeowner.

As a result of the investigation, Lucille MIRON, 39-years-old person, from West Nipissing, was charged with, mischief – destroys or damages property and assault.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on July 4, 2024.

Police Seeking Public Assistance in Homicide Investigation

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance to identify a vehicle for an ongoing investigation.

On January 21, 2024, human remains were discovered in the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio. The deceased was identified as William SCHERNHAMMER, a 24-year-old from the Town of New Tecumseth, who was reported missing on January 12, 2024. One individual has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.

On January 12, 2024, between 12:29 a.m. to 12:49 a.m., a vehicle was seen on Parsons Road and Dufferin Street in the Town of New Tecumseth. The vehicle is described as a light-coloured vehicle, possibly a Buick LeSabre from 2000-2005.

The driver and/or occupants of this vehicle may possess information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested – Names Released

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – Two drivers were arrested within half an hour of each other in Perth County for impaired driving investigations early Saturday morning.

Just after 2:00 a.m. on June 8,2024, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver on Perth Line 55, in the Township of Perth East. The driver was displaying signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.

Marty SEARLE, 33, of Welland, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

Approximately a half an hour later, just after 2:30 a.m. on June 8, 2024, a second vehicle was stopped and the driver arrested on Wellington Street, in Mitchell, Municipality of West Perth. During the investigation, a quantity of suspected cocaine was located.   

Gibson MERKEL, 22, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

David SCOTT – Threats

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual is facing charges for falsely reporting an incident to the police.

At approximately 2:43 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated an assault on Talbot Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

A member of the public reported being assaulted with an edged weapon by an unidentified individual while on the premises.

During the investigation, officers determined that no assault had occurred. They also discovered that the individual who reported the assault had threatened to harm other individuals on the premises.

As a result, the complainant was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 54-year-old David SCOTT of Norfolk County:

  • Public mischief,
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Andrew MARACLE Was Arrested

(DESERONTO, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired driving.

On June 8, 2024, just after 10:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a golf cart and heavy machinery being driven in the area of Main Street in Deseronto. Officers attended the area and observed an excavator being operated in a field near First Street, with a golf cart parked nearby.

Officers spoke with the driver who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Andrew MARACLE, age 20, of Deseronto, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 25, 2024.
