Peter WYONCH – Drunk Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with impaired driving offences after responding to a traffic complaint in Bracebridge.

On July 6, 2024, at 3:40 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to reports of a vehicle that was in the ditch, with an adult and a child beside it, on Fraserburg Road in Bracebridge. Officers arrived and commenced an investigation into the cause of the collision and subsequently arrested and charged 38-year-old Peter WYONCH of Bracebridge with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). Neither individual suffered injuries.

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 30, 2024 to answer to his charges. Drivers who are charged with impaired driving offenses also suffer an immediate 90 day drivers license suspension and have their vehicle impounded.

Dine & Dash Leads To Numerous Charges – Names Released

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – An initial report of a dine and dash in Quinte West has led to serious charges, including firearms related counts.

On July 7, 2024, members of Quinte West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a theft from a local restaurant, where three parties left without paying, and stole tableware. The individuals were also involved in a single vehicle collision, with their vehicle leaving the road and entering the ditch.  

Three people were arrested and a loaded firearm was seized. 

Tara GAGE, age 26 of Oshawa was charged with: 

  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Food and lodging fraud
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking
  • Passenger – fail to properly wear seatbelt

Nathan LOPEZ, age 26 of Toronto was charged with: 

  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Food and lodging fraud
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Driver – fail to properly wear seatbelt

Andrew VIVIAN, age 19 of Clarington was charged with:

  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Food and lodging fraud
  • Fail to comply with probation order 
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Passenger – fail to properly wear seatbelt

All three accused remain in custody, with a bail hearing scheduled this week before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Ashanti SKEAD – Drunk Driving

(KENORA, ON) – A R.I.D.E program in the City of Kenora has resulted in impaired operation charges.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E program in the area of Railway Street. A motor vehicle entered the program, and an approved screening device was administered.  

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Kenora OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Ashanti SKEAD, 28-years-old, of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 25, 2024.

Numerous Arrests

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been busy with various investigations and resulting arrests.

On July 1, 2024, at approximately, 10:30 a.m., police received a call for service regarding an assault at a residence in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Police arrived and the subject of the complaint shortly made himself available to police. The individual was arrested and taken into custody.

A 33-year-old, from the Municipality of Trent Hills, was charged with:

–      Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

–      Assault

–      Assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate or strangle

–      Mischief – destroys or damages property

The accused shall not be named to protect the identify of the victim and was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice.

On July 1, 2024, shortly after 2:00 p.m., OPP responded to a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle travelling on County Road 25 in the Township of Cramahe. The vehicle was located and stopped by police. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a local detachment to undergo tests conducted by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE).

David DAWSON, 33-years-old, from the Township of Cramahe, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

On June 3, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., OPP responded to a report of a fire at a residence in Campbellford. Officers arrived and the Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department were already on scene. The fire was extinguished and it was determined there was nobody inside. The scene was held as the Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM) conducted an investigation into the incident also assisted by police. The structure was searched and following a month long investigation, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested an individual on July 2, 2024.

Gregory COMTOIS, 40-years-old, from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:

–      Unauthorised Possession of a firearm.

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

On July 2, 2024, at approximately 6:40 a.m., OPP responded to a dispute at a residence in Hamilton Township. Police arrived at the location and the subject of the complaint was also a male that was sought in connection to an incident of mischief which occurred on May 19, 2024, in the Municipality of Port Hope.

A 33-year-old, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:

–      Mischief – destroys or damages property

–      Fail to comply with probation order

–      Unlawfully in a dwelling house

–      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Cocaine

–      Theft under $5,000.

The accused was due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

On July 7, 2024, at around 4:30 p.m., police again responded to a dispute at the same location in Hamilton Township. The same individual was arrested and charged with:

–      Failure to comply with undertaking

–      Fail to comply with probation order. 

The accused was held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice and shall not be named to protect the identity of the victims.

On July 8, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a Remotely Piloted Aerial System (RPAS) at the Warkworth Institution. Officers patrolled the area and stopped a vehicle nearby on County Road 29. Officers conducted an investigation and the driver was arrested.

Phong HOANG, 43-years-old, from Ottawa, has been charged with:

–      Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

–      Conspiracy to commit summary conviction offence.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

Eric CHAMPAGNE – Impaired Driving

(NORTH BAY, ON) – A traffic complaint in Astorville led to the driver being charged for driving while impaired by drug. 

On July 4, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from an off-duty police officer reporting a driving complaint involving a possible impaired driver at South Shore Road. OPP attended the scene and observed a grey car pulled onto the side of the road.  

Through investigation, police determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP Detachment.

The Driver, Eric CHAMPAGNE, 34 years-of-age of Astorville is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation Impaired – blood drug concentration

The accused was released and scheduled to appear before the North Bay Ontario Court of Justice on July 16, 2024. They were issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Hope EWING – Drunk Driving

(LAMBTON, ON) – A traffic stop investigation led to an individual being charged for driving while impaired.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 1:25 a.m., a member of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Smith Street in St Clair Township.

After speaking with the driver, they were taken into custody without incident and transported to Lambton OPP Corunna detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Hope EWING, 21-year-old from Stoney Point, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 29, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charge.

Armand AUGER – Drunk Driving

(CURTIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged with impaired driving.

On July 6, 2024, shortly after 9:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol on Highway 6. Police observed a vehicle unable to maintain its lane, striking the guard rail and bouncing off. Police conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Armand AUGER, 41-years-old from Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on August 6, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Dylan NUTT Was Arrested

(LAMBTON, ON) – A driver was arrested for impaired operation during a traffic stop after failing to stop at a stop sign.

On July 6, 2024, just after 9:20 p.m., a member of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Arkona Road in Warwick Township, after a vehicle was observed failing to stop at a stop sign.

After speaking with the driver, they were taken into custody without incident and transported to Lambton OPP Petrolia detachment for further testing. As a result of the investigation, Dylan NUTT, 20-year-old from Kerwood, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Disobey stop sign-fail to stop

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 6, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.

Kevin THOMAS Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual is facing multiple driving-related charges following an investigation into a prohibited driving incident in Port Dover.

At approximately 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment was on patrol when a vehicle on Hamilton Plank Road in Port Dover, Norfolk County, caught their attention for exceeding the posted speed limit.

After conducting a traffic stop and investigation, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 40-year-old Kevin THOMAS of Haldimand County:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Drive motor vehicle in contravention of conditions,
  • Driving while under suspension,
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero,
  • Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit,
  • Drive without proper rear light – motor vehicle,
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available,
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

Derek GOODING – Drunk Driving

(LAMBTON, ON) – A traffic stop resulted in an impaired driving charge over the weekend.

On July 6, 2024, just after 8:40 p.m., a member of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Oil Heritage Road in Enniskillen Township.

After speaking with the driver, they were taken into custody without incident and transported to Lambton OPP Petrolia detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Derek GOODING, 36-year-old from Dresden, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 12, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charge.

Raymond LENDRUM – Assault

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- One person charged after physical altercation.

On July 6, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex on Woodward Avenue in the Town of Blind River.  

Investigation determined the tenant and the complainant had been consuming alcohol when an altercation took place resulting in the complainant receiving a punch in the face.   

As a result, Raymond LENDRUM, 61 years-of-age from Blind River was charged with: Assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 8, 2024.

Daveandrei MORANTE – Impaired Driving

(LAMBTON, ON) – Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 5:15 p.m., members of Lambton County OPP conducted a traffic stop to check sobriety of the driver at a RIDE checkpoint on Main Street, in the Municipality of Grand Bend.

After speaking with the driver, they were taken into custody without incident and transported to Lambton OPP Grand Bend detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Daveandrei MORANTE, 22-year-old from Mississauga, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired-Alcohol and Drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 27, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charge.

Douglas KYOMYA Was Arrested

(KILLALOE, ON) – Members of the Killaloe Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a criminal charge after a traffic stop.

On July 6, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., police stopped a passenger car on 60 Highway, in the Township of North Algona Wilberforce.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 34-year-old Douglas KYOMYA from Ottawa with the following Criminal Code, (CC) offence:

  • Prohibited Driving.

The driver was also issued a summons to appear in court for speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Augst 14, 2024, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke.

Benjaman LEWIS – Drunk Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged following a traffic complaint.

On July 5, 2024, shortly after 4:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle unable to maintain its lane. Police located the vehicle on Centre Street and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcohol beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Benjaman LEWIS, 40-years-old from Michipicoten First Nation has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on August 6, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

(LAMBTON, ON) – A driver was arrested for impaired operation after a traffic stop was conducted for speeding.

On July 5, 2024, at approximately 7:40 p.m., a member of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on London Line in the City of Sarnia after a vehicle was observed speeding.

  • Operation While Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding- 1-49Km/h over posted speed limit
