Cole PLUNKETT Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following a complaint about an individual breaching release conditions.

On January 17, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a location on Musclow Greenview Road in Hastings Highlands. A male, believed to be armed with firearms, fled into the woods when officers arrived. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Canine Unit responded to the scene.

Bancroft OPP officers located the individual and three firearms were located.

Cole PLUNKETT, age 24 of Hastings Highlands, has been charged with:

  • Failure to comply with a release order – three counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – three counts
  • Breach of firearm regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – three counts

The accused was remanded in custody following a bail hearing on January 18, 2025.

ARMSTRONG – Assault

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged one person following an altercation.

On January 13, 2025, shortly after 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in Hastings Highlands. One person was arrested at the scene.

Douglas ARMSTRONG, a 37-year-old from Hastings Highlands, has been charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was held for a bail hearing. The individual was later released by the courts with conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on February 4, 2025.

Drug Bust – GRIMES

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized approximately $50,000 worth of drugs and cash from a home in Bancroft, Ontario.

On December 20, 2024, shortly after 9:00 a.m., officers attended a residence in the Town of Bancroft to retrieve medications for a party that was in police custody. While at the residence, police located an individual that was wanted by police. Upon arresting the male, officers discovered the following on their person:

  • Over $2,000 Canadian dollars
  • 104 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • 11 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 16 grams of suspected heroin
  • 17 pills of suspected oxycodone

Mitchell GRIMES, 33 years of age faces the following charges:

·      Adult failure to comply with a release order X3

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Other Drug

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Opioid X2

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Heroin

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Grimes remains in police custody, pending a bail hearing.

McGrath & Thibault Arrested – Stolen Vehicle Recovered

(Bancroft, ON) – The Bancroft Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals in connection with a reported stolen vehicle incident at a dealership located on Highway 118 in Haliburton.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers observed the stolen vehicle, a white Jeep Rubicon, travelling eastbound. The suspects attempted to evade an initiated traffic stop and later abandoned the vehicle in Bancroft.

A female suspect, Sophie McGrath, was arrested nearby. A male suspect, Francis Thibault, was arrested shortly afterward.

Francis Thibault, a 34-year-old resident of Bowman, Quebec:

 – Dangerous Operation

 – Flight from Peace Officer

 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

 – Possession of a Schedule I Substance

 – Possession of a Prohibited Device

Sophie McGrath, a 30-year-old resident of Cantley, Quebec:

 – Dangerous Operation

 – Flight from Peace Officer

 – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Anthony Olmstead – Arson, Etc.

(Bancroft, ON) – Officers from the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a resident following an early morning business fire.

On Thursday, September 20, 2024, just after 2:00 a.m., Bancroft OPP officers responded to a report of a fire at a business on Hastings Street North. While no injuries were reported, the business sustained damage as a result of the fire.

Following an investigation, Anthony Olmstead, 43, of Bancroft, was arrested at the scene and faces multiple charges under the Criminal Code, including:

  • Arson – Disregard for Human Life
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Trespassing at Night

Olmstead has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 23, 2024, to address the charges.

John BHUMIRATANA Facing Numerous Charges

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver following a traffic complaint involving dangerous driving and theft.

On September 17, 2024, shortly before 4:00 p.m., OPP responded to reports of a vehicle being driven dangerously and hitting a guardrail on Highway 62 in Bancroft. The vehicle was located at a nearby gas station, where employees alerted police that the driver had stolen items from the store.

John BHUMIRATANA, a 41-year-old resident of Bancroft, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Adult Dangerous Operation
  • Adult Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting
  • Adult Operation While Impaired – Drug
  • Adult Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Adult Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid
  • Adult Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent
  • Adult Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 18, 2024, to address the criminal charges.

John BHUMIRATANA Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a traffic complaint.

On September 16, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Bancroft OPP responded to reports of a vehicle reversing into a fence on Sherbourne Street. Upon arrival, officers conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of the driver.

John BHUMIRATANA, a 41-year-old resident of Bancroft, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drugs
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
  • Dangerous Operation

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on October 8, 2024.

Daniel SARGINSON Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested an individual following a report of an unwanted person at a local residence.

On September 16, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., OPP officers responded to a call regarding an unwanted person on Hastings Street in the Town of Bancroft. Upon arrival, officers found a person sitting on the complainant’s back step, preventing the homeowner from accessing their property and causing concern for their safety.

After being escorted off the premises, the individual returned to the property while police were still present and was arrested.

Daniel SARGINSON, a 39-year-old resident of Bancroft, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Adult Resist Peace Officer
  • Adult Mischief
  • Adult Fail to Comply with Probation Order

SARGINSON has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 18, 2024, regarding the criminal charges.

Jonathan RALLISON Arrested Twice In One Afternoon

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a local man following a trespassing call that escalated into multiple criminal charges.

On August 22, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle trespassing on private property. The vehicle was reported to have driven onto the property, and when the owner went to investigate, the vehicle was driven towards the owner before driving away.

Police located the vehicle a short time later and initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation, the officer made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand, which the driver refused. As a result, the driver was arrested for Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

The driver, identified as 30-year-old Jonathan RALLISON of Bancroft, was released from custody concerning this charge. However, while awaiting the arrival of a tow truck, RALLISON was arrested again, this time for assaulting a peace officer.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 26, 2024, to address the criminal charges.

Tristian MCCOLL Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a person after a motorcycle fled from police.

On August 12, shortly after 7:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop a motorcycle that had no licence plate. The motorcycle fled from police. The investigation resulted in one person being arrested a short time later.

Tristian MCCOLL, a 23-year-old from Bancroft has been charged with five provincial offences and the following Criminal Code offences:

– Flight from peace officer;

– Dangerous operation;

– Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code; Two counts

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order; and

– Possession of a Schedule III Substance.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 13, 2024, in relation to the criminal charges.

Cocaine Bust – Names Released

(Bancroft, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid drug charges after a vehicle was stopped in a RIDE program in the Town of Bancroft.

On August 10, 2024, shortly after 12:30 AM, officers stopped a vehicle during a RIDE program in the Town of Bancroft. As a result of the investigation, 46-year-old Jason BARTLEY, 41-year-old Martha ANDERSON and 43-year-old Jennifer SCHEMBRI, all from Peterborough, were arrested and charged with the criminal offence of:

  • possession of Schedule 1 – cocaine; and
  • possession of Schedule 1 – Opioid.

They were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on September 17th, 2024.

Meth Bust – Names Released

(Bancroft, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid drug charges after a traffic stop in the Town of Bancroft.

On July 21, 2024, shortly before 12:00 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Bancroft. As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Kathleen CLANCY of Bancroft, 35-year-old Drew JESSUP of Coe Hill and 31-year-old Michael LANDRY of North Kawartha, were arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

Possession of Schedule 1 – methamphetamine; and

Unauthorized Possession of Weapon.

Drew JESSUP was additionally charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.

They were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on September 17th, 2024.

Cocaine Bust – Repeat Offender Arrested Again

(Bancroft, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid drug charges after a traffic stop in the Town of Bancroft.

On July 20, 2024, shortly after 7:00 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Bancroft. As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Amanda CORBY and 60-year-old Charles TOWNSEND, both of Wilberforce, were arrested and charged with the criminal offence of possession of Schedule 1 – cocaine.

Amanda CORBY was additionally charged with:

  • Breach of Recognizance;
  • Failure to comply with release order; and
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts.

Charles TOWNSEND was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on September 17th, 2024. Amanda CORBY was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 22, 2024.

Drug Bust – 4 Arrested, Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and OPP Bancroft Detachment were involved in a Controlled drugs and Substance Act search warrant which led to the arrest of four individual.

On June 12, 2024, Officers seized Fentanyl, Cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine pills, Adderall pills, cellular devices, drug paraphernalia (eg. Digital scales), Canadian Currency, ammunition, and a 60000k volt conductive energy weapon.

As a result of the investigation, all four individuals were held pending a bail hearing.

Trevor Conlin, 32 years of Bancroft Ontario, David Vautour, 34 years of Faraday Township, Lucas Brownlee, 34 years of Bancroft Ontario and Raymond White, 62 years of Bancroft Ontario have all been charged with:

  • Four (4) counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and morphine)
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking amphetamine

Trevor Conlin was additionally charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order and
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.

David Vautour was additionally charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Two (2) counts of Fail to comply with Probation order.

Mitchell LYONS Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver while conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) program.

On April 27, 2024, shortly after 12:30 a.m., officers stop a vehicle while conducting a R.I.D.E. in the town of Bancroft. The investigation resulted in the driver being arrested. 

Mitchell LYONS, a 33-year-old from Campbellford has been charged with the Criminal Code offences of:

Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Operation while impaired – alcohol

Fail to comply with probation order.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on May 14, 2024.
