(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH)- On June 25, 2014 at 4:44pm, the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles and a third vehicle that was involved with only debris damage. The collision occurred on Industrial Parkway at Church Street in the Town of New Tecumseth.

Nottawasaga OPP, Town of New Tecumseth Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedics arrived at the scene quickly, both involved drivers were sent to a local area hospital.

Police have Technical Traffic Collision Investigators at the scene to assist in the investigation.

Industrial Parkway will be closed at King Street, Tottenham Road and Church Street at Miller Street in the Town of New Tecumseth. The motoring public is asked to re-route around this collision scene.

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On Wednesday June 25, 2013 just before 2:30pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of a serious motor vehicle collision on highway #60 near Grassmere Lake Road in Huntsville, On.

Initial investigation found that a Ford Escape with two occupants was traveling west bound and a Subaru was heading eastbound on Highway #60 struck head on, causing the Subaru to go into the ditch on the south side of the road. The two occupants of the Escape were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Subaru, a 66 year-old male from Huntsville was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit has attended to assist in the investigation. Highway #60 will be closed until it is complete.

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is warning people not to fall victim of the scam that is circulating in the area. Police have received reports that area residents are being telephoned and advised they have won a large cash prize. The caller states it’s from a draw that they entered at an area store or from a sweepstakes type promotion. The caller then advises that for you to claim the prize you must send them a small cash amount to a provided address. Be aware this is a scam, don’t be fooled. Anytime you are asked to pay something as a result of you winning a draw or competition it is most likely a scam. Do not provide the caller with any personal information or send any money.

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Kenora Detachment Street Crimes Unit and the Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) have charged two adults with firearms and property related offences following a search warrant executed in Kenora on June 20, 2014.

On Monday June 9, 2014 shortly after 12:00 noon the Kenora OPP received a call that a home in Lakeside had been broken into sometime between May 29 and June 9, 2014. Unknown suspect(s) had forced entry to the home and stolen various items including alcohol and jewelry. Police later learned that a number of firearms were also stolen from the residence.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, police obtained and executed a search warrant on a residence on Heenan Place in the City of Kenora on June 20, 2014. Police located a 20 gauge shotgun in the residence that was reported stolen from the June 9 Lakeside break in.

Two adults were arrested at the residence. As a result, 23 year old Naiche KEESIC (male) of Kenora has been charged with Knowingly Possess an Unauthorized Firearm contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal Code (CC), Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime contrary to section 96(a) CC and Failure to Comply with a Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC.

Also charged is 24 year old Danielle LOON of Kenora. She is facing charges of Unsafe Storage of a Firearm contrary to section 86(2) CC, Knowingly Possess an Unauthorized Firearm contrary to section 92(1) CC, Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime contrary to section 96(a) CC and Possess a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order contrary to section 117.01(1) CC.

They have been held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 26, 2014 in Kenora Court.

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) -On June 25, 2014, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers spoke with a male on Main Street, Erin and observed an expandable baton on his waist. He was arrested and searched. During the search, police located a flick knife in his possession. Both weapons are considered prohibited.

Tyler QUIRING-DALEY age 21 of North Bay is charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon X 2. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 26, 2014 to answer the charges.

(KENORA, ON) On Wednesday June 25, 2014 the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a report that two pieces of art from the “Muskies on Main” exhibit in downtown Kenora had been stolen. Police were advised that on Tuesday June 24, 2014 between 4:30 pm and 10:00 pm, unknown suspect(s) damaged two of the exhibits at City Hall on Main Street. Two more of the exhibits were stolen within the same time range from the walkway between Main Street and Bernier Drive.

One of the missing exhibits was located on the morning of June 25 and recovered by police.

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On June 7, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. police received a call from a Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Conservation Officer advising of an impaired boater on the North Channel of Lake Huron near Blind River. Officers from the East Algoma detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) met the Conservation Officer at the dock in the Township of the Northshore where the male was arrested and taken into custody. As a result of the investigation 43 year old William DUNBAR of Blind River has been charged with impaired operation of a vessel and operating vessel with over 80 mgs.

He is schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on August 7, 2014.

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On June 20, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. officers from the East Algoma detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Blind River received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Causley Street in Blind River. Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Woodward Avenue. As a result of their investigation 60 year old Conrad BOBIWASH of Blind River was arrested and is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, being over 80 mgs and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

He is schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on August 5, 2014.

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On June 18, 2014 at 10:18 p.m. an officer from the East Algoma detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Elliot Lake stopped a vehicle being driven on Manitoba road in Elliot Lake. As a result of the stop the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Charged is 65 year old David SAMPSON of Elliot Lake. He is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and being over 80 mgs.

He is schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 5, 2014.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is urging parents and caregivers of young children to be vigilant in ensuring they remain safe this summer.

Youngsters love to explore. Open water, back yard pools and warm summer weather are just the right ingredients to cause them to respond to their urge to explore their surroundings. Often times these explorations can put them in harm’s way near open water, at or near roadways or around heavy equipment where they can be severely injured or killed as we have seen over the course of the past couple weeks.

Parental and/or responsible adult supervision is required whenever youngsters are engaging in activity that puts them in situations that may challenge their safety. Nothing can substitute for hands-on supervision and direction. The OPP strongly urges parents or caregivers to always ensure youngsters who are identified as weak or non-swimmers, always wear a lifejacket or personal floatation device when at or near open bodies of waters and back yard pools. It is also imperative that youngsters protect their heads and bodies by wearing a helmet and protective clothing whenever they are cycling, skateboarding or engaging in other similar challenging forms of entertainment.

Summer is supposed to be an opportunity to create lasting memories. Young people depend on caregivers for direction and support in making wise choices about their safety. “Safety is as simple as ABC – Always Be Careful.!”, Constable Ed Sanhuk, Norfolk County OPP.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is urging residents to be cautious and to use good judgement when someone comes to their door with an offer to provide a service for a fee which seems “too good to be true”, after a Norfolk County resident paid $4,000 to have their driveway paved.

Recently, an unknown male attended the victim’s residence offering to pave their driveway with recycled asphalt for $4,000 dollars. The victim agreed, and that day, two trucks full of old paving asphalt pieces were brought in, spread, and rolled.

The homeowner noticed that the asphalt was of poor quality and was falling apart.

The Norfolk County OPP would like all residents to be very skeptical is an unknown person arrives at your door stating that they were in your neighbourhood completing other driveways and offering asphalt at a discounted price.

Remember – if someone comes to your door, ask to see some identification. You do not have to let them in, and they must leave if you ask them to do so.

Before you decide to pay any money, if you are interested in what a sales or service person has to officer, take the time to find out about their business and their offer. Don’t be pressured! Be prepared to ask for the peddler’s permits and identification that identifies the person and the company offering the services.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a Break and Enter at a Norfolk County Road 45, Houghton, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

Between Friday, June 20, 2014 and Tuesday, June 24, 2014, unknowns attended the address and gained entry into the residence. Once inside, unknowns removed a Mastercraft tool set, Makita grinder, gold watches, George Foreman Grill, bottle of Downy fabric softener and a package of Tide pods

The theft is estimated at approximately $900 dollars.

The Norfolk County OPP Detachment is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

(WAWA, ON) – On Sunday June 22, 2014 at 2:15 am the Wawa Ontario Provincial Police Detachment were advised that a male had been the victim of a robbery at the intersection of Magpie Road and Boyer Street in Wawa.

While walking home alone the victim was thrown to the ground by five unidentified males. The victim attempted to stand and was shoved to the ground by one of the males. The victim’s wallet had fallen to the ground and was picked up by one of the males, who removed an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency and threw the wallet back.

The males left the area on foot on Boyer Street towards Churchill Avenue.

The following is a description of each suspect;
Suspect 1 – white male, approx. 20-30 years of age, English speaking (no accent), tall, thin build, black pants, work boots, black hoody, long hair, tattoo on top of right hand.
Suspect 2 – white male, approx. 20-30 years of age, English speaking (no accent), tall, thin build, black pants, Adidas Shoes, white sweater with gold design emblem on arm and chest, flat ball cap lid, hair in his face.
Suspect 3 – white male, approx. 20-30 years of age, English speaking (no accent), tall, thin build, black pants, work boots, black hoody.
Suspect 4 – white male, approx. 20-30 years of age, English speaking (no accent), tall, thin build, black pants, work boots, black hoody.
Suspect 5 – white male, approx. 20-30 years of age, English speaking (no accent) but deeper voice, tall, thin build, black pants, work boots, black hoody.

(South Dundas, ON) – On the 24th of June 2014, SD&G OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 2.

Investigation revealed a male operator on a motorized scooter under the influence of alcohol.

Sixty-two (62) year old, Harold ARMSTRONG of South Dundas TWP was charged with:

– Impaired operation of a motor vehicle

– Over 80 milligrams of alcohol

The male is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Morrisburg on the 05th of August 2014.

(South Stormont, ON) – On the 24th of June 2014, SD&G OPP officer responded to an erratic driving complaint on Highway 401. The police intercepted a 2005 Pontiac motor vehicle on Highway 401 at Boundary Road.

Investigation revealed a lone female driver under the influence of alcohol.

Twenty-eight (28) year old, Patricia MONETTE from Beloeil Quebec was charged with:

– Impaired operation of a motor vehicle

– Over 80 milligrams of alcohol

She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Cornwall on the 19th of August 2014.
