Paramjit SANDHU Arrested Again

(CALEDON, ON) – Members of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a shoplifting incident and arrested a suspect and laid charges for multiple criminal code offences.

On December 26, 2024, shortly after 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shoplifting incident that had just occurred at an LCBO store in Bolton. A vehicle description was provided. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located, and the suspect was arrested. The investigation revealed that the accused was in possession of a stolen vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Paramjit SANDHU, 39, of no fixed address, was charged with:

• Theft under $5000 – shoplifting – two counts

• Possession property obtained by crime over $5000

• Possession of an identify document

• Possession of a credit card

• Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

• Having care or control of vehicle with cannabis in open original packaging

• Fail to comply with probation order – three counts

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.

Belleville Police Daily Update 27Dec2024

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 98 calls for service between 5:00 am on December 25, 2024 to 5:00 am on December 27, 2024.

Slashed Tires

The Belleville Police Service is continuing to investigate numerous reports of tires slashed on vehicles in the area of Avondale Rd and Harder Dr.  So far, a total of 10 vehicles have had their tires slashed overnight between Christmas and Boxing Day.  The suspect is described as having a slim build wearing a rust coloured hooded jacket, blue jeans and running shoes.  Residents in the area are encouraged to check any home security video that may have captured images of the suspect.  Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Cst. Stolen Vehicle

On the 26th of December at 7:50am, police attended a residence in the city’s east end for the report of a stolen vehicle.  Police learned that on the 25th of December the homeowner had invited two persons into his residence whom he had recently met online.  The persons left the residence later in the evening.  The homeowner woke up the next morning to learn that the keys to his vehicle and his car had been stolen.  The vehicle is a white 2009 Hyundai Elantra with black rims and black door handles.  The licence plate on the vehicle is DCDZ 462.  Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle are asked to contact the Belleville Police. 

Prohibited driver charged

On the 27th of December at 3:57am, officers on patrol observed a vehicle on Dundas Street East with no licence plates. Police stopped the vehicle and learned that the driver was prohibited from driving in Canada stemming from a previous conviction for “fail to stop for police” and prohibited driving province wide for unpaid fines. Miranda Tofflemire, 24 years-old of Napanee was arrested and charged with driving while prohibited under the Criminal Code and operating a motor vehicle with no plates, no permit for motor vehicle and fail to surrender proof of insurance under the Provincial Offences Act. Tofflemire was released at the scene with a court date in February 2025.

Police continue to search for missing 26-year-old Belleville resident

Members of the Belleville Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to search for 26-year-old Belleville resident Andrew Robinson.  Robinson was last observed at 2:25am on the 23rd of December walking east bound on College Street West from Sidney St.  Robinson was not dressed for the cold weather when he left his residence.  Police and family are concerned for his safety and well-being.  Andrew is described as 5’11”, 155 lbs., having short black hair and a mustache.  He was last observed wearing white track pants, a ty-die style long sleeve shirt with the word “ELEMENT” on the sleeve, black shoes and wearing a black backpack.  He was also observed to be carrying a teddy bear.  Anyone with information regarding Robinson’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.

R.I.D.E STPS Officers conducted a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoint within the city where more than 70 vehicles were checked. No infractions were observed and no impaired drivers were detected. Thanks for driving sober and keeping our roads safe! ST24023185

Attempt theft of motor vehicle

On December 26th 2024, a St. Thomas resident on the west end of the city called Police to report that sometime overnight, unknown suspect(s) had attempted to steal their vehicle from their laneway however were unsuccessful. Nothing was taken however there was damage to the ignition and steering column. The incident remains under investigation. ST24023187

Fraud

A St. Thomas resident is out nearly $100 000 after falling victim to a job scam. For over a month, the victim was investing money into a company that they believed they were working for however learned that the company was not legitimate and did not actually exist. The matter is currently being investigated by Detectives in the STPS Criminal Investigations Branch. ST24023189

Protecting yourself from fraud

In an ongoing effort to help protect the residents of St. Thomas from falling victim to online scams and fraud, the St. Thomas Police Service would like to remind the community on ways to protect yourself and things to consider while online:

  • Always get a second opinion from family or friends regarding the situation
  • No employer will reach out to you through apps like Whats App or Telegram
  • No employer will ever pay you in crypto currency
  • No employer will ask you to invest your own money
  • Use the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre as a resource to familiarize yourself with current scams and additional ways to protect yourself.
  • Be very cautious when someone asks you to pay for an item with gift cards

Shoplifting

STPS is currently investigating a shoplifting incident which occurred at a business in the 1000 block of Talbot Street. A male suspect entered the store and concealed clothing in a reusable bag before exiting the store without making any attempt to pay. Police are reviewing video footage in hope of identifying the suspect. ST24023192

Theft & Fail to comply with release order

STPS Officers were contacted to attend a business in the 1063 Talbot Street area for a shoplift in progress. Attending Officers located the 20 yr old suspect where they were arrested and transported back to STPS station. Officers learned that the suspect was on conditions not to attend the store they had stolen from therefore they were charged accordingly and held for court. ST24023193

Woman arrested twice for robbery

A Guelph woman faces two robbery charges following separate incidents on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

At 2:30 p.m. Tuesday police were called to a business on Speedvale Avenue East near Stevenson Street North. A staff member had observed a woman concealing items in her purse and confronted her. The woman punched the employee in the face and fled the business.

Officers were en route when another nearby business reported the same suspect had just stolen from there. A 39-year-old Guelph woman was arrested for robbery, theft under $5,000, possessing stolen property and failing to comply with an undertaking.

She was held for a bail hearing and released Wednesday.

Just before 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police were called to a business on Silvercreek Parkway North. A loss prevention employee saw a woman removing a gift bag from a shelf and filling it with items from the store.

As she attempted to leave without paying, the employee confronted her but the woman threatened to assault the employee and left the store. She was located downtown several hours later and arrested for another count of robbery. She was held for another bail hearing Friday.

Target practice leads to criminal charges

A Guelph man faces weapons charges after he was located Wednesday morning shooting a bow and arrow near the downtown.

Just after 11:30 a.m. police received a call from a concerned citizen about someone with a bow and arrow in a vacant lot on Surrey Street East. Officers arrived and located a man with a homemade bow and several arrows. He explained he was shooting at wooden targets.

Investigation revealed the man is on two separate probation orders including conditions not to possess weapons. He was placed under arrest and a search revealed a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

A 30-year-old Guelph man is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a controlled substance and four counts of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court January 28.

Home entered overnight

The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a home near downtown was entered overnight while the residents slept.

On Thursday police received a call from a resident of Huron Street, who reported property including two phones, car keys, a jacket and two debit cards had been stolen sometime overnight.

The two debit cards were later used to make several purchases downtown. A suspect was caught on video wearing the stolen jacket while using the cards.

Male sought in fraud investigation

The Guelph Police Service is trying to identify the male in the attached photos as we continued to investigate a series of frauds.

On November 21, a male in his 80s reported had received a call supposedly from his bank, advising his debit card had beenFraud suspect compromised. The caller said a courier would attend the victim’s residence to collect the debit card and provided his PIN number.

A man attended later the same day and was given the debit card, which was subsequently used to make approximately $4,000 in purchases. Police believe the male in the photographs has information relevant to the investigation.

Meagan Coote Wanted in an Aggravated Assault Investigation

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance locating a woman wanted in an Aggravated Assault investigation. 

On Friday, December 27, 2024, at approximately 3:36 a.m., police responded to a call for a Stabbing in the Queen Street West and Beaty Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

  • the suspect broke into a residential apartment unit
  • the suspect was armed with a weapon, and stabbed the victim multiple times
  • the victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries
  • the suspect left on foot in an unknown direction of travel

Meagan Coote, 43, of no fixed address is wanted for:

  1. Break and Enter
  2. two counts of Assault with a Weapon
  3. Aggravated Assault
  4. Disobey Lawful Order of Court

She is described as 5’6”, with a medium build, has dirty blonde hair, and light coloured eyes. She was last seen wearing a tan coloured jacket and a light brown knitted scarf.

1 Horse Dead, 2 Sent To Hospital Following Drawn Carriage Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – A collision in Norwich Township sent two individuals to hospital with serious injuries.

On Friday December 27, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to Oxford Road 13 for the report of a collision between a passenger vehicle and a horse drawn carriage.

The two occupants of the carriage were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The lone occupant of the passenger vehicle was uninjured.

The horse died at the scene.

Impersonating Police Officer Leads To Arrest #FilmThePolice #FTP

(DRYDEN, ON) – One person has been charged for impersonating a peace officer in relation to a towing incident in Dryden.

On April 26, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in the City of Machin. Through the investigation, it was learned that the towing company attending the scene was not the towing company dispatched by police.

Further investigation revealed that the attending towing company impersonated law enforcement in order to be dispatched to the scene instead of the towing company originally dispatched by police.

As a result, Sukhwinder DHESI, 41 years old of Mississauga, has been charged with personating a peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Dryden Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on January 20, 2025.

Hwy 11 Meth Bust – Names Released

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program has led to significant drug seizures and charges against two individuals.

On December 8, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Kirkland Lake OPP was conducting a RIDE initiative on Highway 11 in Kenogami.  Upon speaking to the driver, police observed open alcohol, cannabis and drug paraphernalia readily accessible to the driver.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 783 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 64 grams of cocaine and 7 grams of Ecstasy, with an estimated street value of $85,000.

As a result of the investigation, Brayton EVANS-ANDERSON, a 26-year-old from Latchford has been charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- ecstasy

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·      Driver fail to surrender licence

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container or liquor

·      Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·      Obstruct plate

·      Drive with window coated- view obstructed

The accused is next scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 9, 2025.

Additionally, Jessica BOUDREAULT, a 34-year-old from Kirkland Lake has been charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- ecstasy

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused is next scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 10, 2025.

Bonnie STEPHENS Was Arrested

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an impaired driver following a collision in Trent Hills.

On December 21, 2024, at approximately 8:40 p.m., police, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Devils Valley Road and County Road 8 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

Officers arrived and located a red pick-up truck in the ditch with the driver being treated for minor injuries by medical personnel before being transported to a local hospital as a precaution. There were no other persons or vehicles involved.

Upon speaking with the individual, police began an impaired operation investigation with the result of the driver being taken into custody. The driver was also found to be suspended from driving. While at the hospital, a demand was made to provide breath into an Approved Instrument.

The accused fail to comply with the demand and as a result, Bonnie STEPHENS (age 69) from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

–      Driving while under suspension.

In addition to future court dates for the accused, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The Northumberland OPP urges everyone to plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home rather than drive while impaired. Call a friend, call a cab or call Operation Red Nose. Remember that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.

WARNING: Fake Police, DO NOT STOP If “Pulled Over” #FilmThePolice #FTP

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment, are investigating a report of a robbery involving individuals impersonating police officers in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

On December 25, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Elgin OPP were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near the 65-KM marker for a report of robbery.

It was reported that the complainant was stopped by two suspect vehicles, one with flashing red and blue lights in the windshield. The complainant’s vehicle was approached by two suspects while another remained in one of the suspect vehicles.

The complainant was directed to exit the vehicle, an interaction between the parties occurred and the suspects fled the scene in both the suspect vehicles along with the complainant’s vehicle.

The complainant was transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with minor injuries.

The suspects were described as:

           Suspect 1:

·        Black male in his 30’s

·        6′ 0″ tall

·        Wearing all black clothing, a black mask, and a black ballistic styled vest

·        Handgun in a holster

Suspect 2:

·        Brown male in his 20’s

·        5’8″ tall

·        Wearing all black clothing, a black mask, and a black ballistic styled vest

No description of the third suspect was provided.

The involved suspect vehicles were described as a black sedan with red/blue flashing lights in the windshield and a black SUV. No police markings were on either vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing and there is not believed to be a threat to public safety as investigators believe this was an isolated incident.

Speeding Leads To Numerous Charges

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a number of criminal charges following unrelated speeding incidents on Highway 401.

On December 18, 2024, shortly after 11:30 p.m., police were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 westbound in the Township of Hamilton when they observed a passenger vehicle travelling at a speed of 174 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h limit.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle however it failed to do so. Shortly after, OPP received a report of a motor vehicle collision which had occurred at the next exit. Officers attended and identified the same vehicle which they had prior observed travelling at a high speed. The driver and passenger were out of the vehicle which was on its roof and both occupants were uninjured.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, from Grafton, was arrested and charged with:

–      Dangerous operation

–      Flight from peace officer.

–      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed

–      Entire plate not plainly visible.

The accused shall not be named due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

On December 21, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., OPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 eastbound in the Municipality of Port Hope. An officer recorded a passenger vehicle travelling at a speed of 165 Km/h in a posted 110 Km/h limit.

The vehicle was stopped and officers observed cannabis in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and persons yielded brass knuckles, a folding knife, approximately 60 grams of cannabis and 250 grams of hash. The total street value of the drugs is believed to be $900.

Both driver and passenger were arrested and transported to a local detachment for processing.

Malcolm JAGDEO (age 25) from North York, has been charged with:

–      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon

–      Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place

–      Drive motor vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

–      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed

–      Breach of recognizance – two counts

Mustapha ALAWIYE (age 32) from Toronto, has been charged with:

–      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon

–      Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

–      Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place 

Each of the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

Each driver had their vehicle impounded for 14 days and licence suspended for 30 days.

Police Cruiser Involved In Drunk Driving Collision

(KENORA, ON) – While on general patrol in Kenora, an officer was struck by a vehicle, leading to criminal charges being laid against the impaired driver.

On December 26, 2024, shortly after 8:00 pm, in the downtown core of Kenora, a member of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had collided with the officer’s cruiser. No injuries were reported.

Investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.    

Caleb BRYANT-SKEAD, 21-years-old, from Kenora, Ontario is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was further charged with:

·      Disobey stop sign – fail to stop, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

·      Driver motor vehicle – no licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Kenora Ontario Court of Justice on January 23, 2025, to answer to the criminal charges.

This year’s Festive RIDE Campaign runs from November 21, 2024 to January 1, 2025. Citizens are reminded to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or taking drugs, and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed either.

Meth Bust – SAWCHUK & SIMPELL

(Strong Township, ON) – Police arrested and charged a driver and a passenger with drug-related offenses following a traffic stop.

On December 26, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members from the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol, and conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 124 in the township of Strong, when the ALPPR alerted officers of a potential wanted party.

During the investigation, the driver and passenger were arrested for possession of drugs. A search of the vehicle located drug paraphernalia, a digital scale and drugs suspected to be cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of just over $17,000.00.

As a result of the investigation, Alexis SAWCHUK, 34 years-of-age, from North Bay, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Two counts
  • Driving while under suspension

Further, Jason SIMPELL, 42 years-of-age, from North Bay, was charged with:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – Two counts
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Both accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on December 27th, 2024, and were remanded into custody.

All OPP patrol vehicles are equipped with ALPR technology. ALPR has proven to be an effective way to increase the efficiency of discovering and conducting investigations related to both traffic and criminal offences. It does so by detecting licence plates that are linked to occurrences such as wanted or missing persons, stolen vehicles, suspended/prohibited drivers, vehicles associated with AMBER Alerts and other serious occurrences.

15 Year Old Repeat Offenders Arrested Again

(PUSLINCH, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen Side by Side All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), located the suspects, and placed them into custody, recovering the stolen vehicle.

On December 26, 2024, members of the Wellington County OPP received a report of a stolen Side by Side ATV in Puslinch.

Police attended the scene and as a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old from Cambridge, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Failure to Comply with release order
  • Break and Enter
  • Theft of motor Vehicle x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 x2

The accused was arrested on scene and held for Bail.

Another 15-year-old from Cambridge was also arrested and has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle x2
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 x2

The accused was arrested on scene and held for Bail.

30 Year Old From Lucan Arrested – Details Released

(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON) – Driver facing charges after two-vehicle collision in Lucan.

On December 24, 2024, at 7:32 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service were dispatched to Main Street at Princess Street in Lucan, Lucan Biddulph, for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

The driver of one of the involved vehicles was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

There were no serious injuries reported.

As a result, Jack WORDTMANN, a 30-year-old of Lucan, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Careless driving

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on February 13, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
