2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS DETACHMENT, ON) – Almaguin Highlands OPP arrest two impaired drivers within minutes of each other.

On Sunday May 11th, 2025, at approximately 1:30am., the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 518 West, Mcmurrich-Monteith. 

Through investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to a nearby detachment for further testing.

Joseph ANTCLIFFE, 40 years-of-age, from Mcmurrich-Monteith, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension 
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle 
  • Drive motor vehicle no validation on plate 
  • Vehicle modified – fail to apply for new permit 
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance

Several minutes later, officers from the Almaguin Highlands OPP also conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11, Laurier Township.

Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

Jamie-Lynne BOYKO, 39 years-of-age, from Cochrane, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Failure or Refusal to comply with a demand 
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle 
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday June 12, 2025, in Sundridge.

Both drivers were issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicles were impounded for seven days.

$100,000 Drug Bust

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – One person is facing a long list of charges after a significant seizure of illegal drugs in Quinte West and Belleville.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit and Belleville Police Service Project Renewal began an investigation in April into drug trafficking in the Quinte area.

On Monday, May 12, 2025, Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2 in Belleville. One person was arrested without incident and a loaded handgun with an over-capacity magazine was seized.

Officers also searched the pick-up truck and located nearly 400-grams of suspected fentanyl, nearly 29-grams of suspected heroin, over 230-grams of suspected cocaine, more than two dozen hydromorphone pills, nearly two dozen hydrochloride pills, as well as more than $5000 in cash, items typically associated with drug trafficking and ammunition for the seized handgun.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is well over $100,000.

Investigators then executed a search warrant at an apartment on Creswell Drive in Quinte West, where additional ammunition and other items were found.

Charles CARLOS, age 26 of Calgary, Alberta is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – five counts
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of a vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

The investigation is continuing into an apparent breach of conditions related to firearm possession.

Kaeden MESTON Was Arrested

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple charges including impaired driving.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP received a traffic complaint regarding an erratic driver on Highway 69 in Carling Township. Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicle.       

As a result of the investigation, Kaeden MESTON, 25 years-of-age of Bengough Saskatchewan was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on June 19, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Douglas MAYBURY – Drunk Driving

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple charges including impaired driving.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Parry Sound. Officers stopped a vehicle on Bowes Street after observing it swerving.     

As a result of the investigation, Douglas MAYBURY, 46 years-of-age of Toronto Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on June 19, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Update: 12 Year Old Cyclist Now Deceased

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – A 12-year-old child is in critical condition in hospital following a collision near Mount Forest.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Wellington North Fire Service, and Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service, responded to a farm property in the vicinity of Highway 6 and Sideroad 2, south of Mount Forest.

It was reported that a child riding on a bicycle collided with a skid steer.

The child was transported to a trauma hospital by Ornge air ambulance.

On May 12, 2025, the victim died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

CAMPBELL Arrested For Drunk Driving

(MCDOUGALL, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving charges after responding to a two-vehicle collision.

On April 27, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of two motorcycles that lost control on Kirkham Road in McDougall Township after almost causing a head on collision with a third vehicle.  

Michael CAMPBELL, 48 years-of-age of McKellar Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Dangerous operation

The second driver was flown to a Sudbury area hospital with non life threatening injuries. The investigation is still ongoing, and updates will be provided when available.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on June 19, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Drowning In Paisley

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – One person has died following a drowning incident that occurred on the Saugeen River in Paisley.

On May 12, 2025, at 1:31 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Bruce County Paramedic Services and the Arran-Elderslie Fire & Emergency Services responded to a report of an individual in distress in the Saugeen River.

The individual was brought to the shore by members of the public and lifesaving measures commenced.

A 25-year-old from Georgetown was pronounced deceased. The victim’s identity will not be released due to privacy of the family.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – An individual is deceased following a motorcycle collision in Chatham-Kent.

On May 12, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), (Chatham-Kent and Elgin Detachments) Emergency Services, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision on Communication Road and Fairview Line, in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

A male was located on scene, transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The Elgin County OPP with the assistance West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team, members of the Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) continue to investigate the collision.

All lanes on Communication Road between Maynard Line and Park Avenue will remain closed temporarily to allow for investigation and for the safety of emergency responders.

Brent BRIDEAU – Impaired Operation

(GORE BAY, ON) – One person is facing impaired-related charges after police received a call about a possible impaired driver.

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a possible impaired driver in the Dawson Township. Police located the vehicle on Highway 540 near Evansville and initiated a traffic stop. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, Brent BRIDEAU, 62-years-old from Evansville, was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on June 24, 2025.

Stolen ATV Recovered – 2 Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Police have arrested and charged two people after police located a stolen all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter where an ATV had been stolen from a residence in Espanola. Later that day, the ATV was located at a different address in Espanola, and returned to the owner. Two people were arrested as a result.

Tyler GAUDREAU, 42-years-old from Espanola, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Additionally, Cecile TROTTIER, 32-years-old from Espanola, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court on May 8, 2025.

Stabbing Update – 3rd Person Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 12, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a third person pertaining to the altercation in Elliot Lake.

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. police were called to assist paramedics with a male in medical distress in a wooded area between Tokyo Crescent and Paris Drive.  The male was transported to hospital with knife wounds and remains in stable condition. An altercation took place at a Tokyo Crescent residence between numerous people which later resulted in one of the males being assaulted with a knife. 

On May 11, 2025, two people were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.  

On May 12, 2025, police located and arrested the third person involved.

Michael PREVOST, 35-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was also charged with – Aggravated Assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on May 13, 2025.

MORRISON Arrested For Drunk Driving

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Fort Frances arrested and charged an impaired driver following a series of public complaints.

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 10:30 pm, the OPP in Fort Frances received a 9-1-1 call reporting an intoxicated person in the Webster Avenue North area of town. A short while later police received additional calls reporting the same subject was driving and fleeing the area.

Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was obviously impaired and was arrested at the scene. The driver was transported to the Fort Frances Detachment where additional breath testing was completed by way of demand.

Jana Raelle MORRISON, 27-years-old from Devlin ON is charged criminally with: impaired operation alcohol or drug, and impaired operation blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs and over. The accused was also charged with having open liquor and failing to wear a seat belt. The accused’s driver license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released by police and is scheduled for first appearance in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on June 16, 2025.

2 Impaired Drivers Have Vehicles Impounded

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into two separate impaired driving investigation over the weekend.

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 6:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint, detailing a single motor vehicle swerving all over the road and almost causing a head on collision on 7A Highway. Officers attended the registered owner’s residence and located the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Lara SHCHERBAN, 57-year-old of Cavan-Monaghan Township, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint, detailing a single motor vehicle swerving all over the road and almost causing collisions on County Road 48. Officers located the vehicle and through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Connor COULTER, 21-year-old of Woodville, was charged with

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine
  • Novice Drive – B.A.C. above zero

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date and both received a 90 day licence suspension their vehicles have been impounded for 7 days.  

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.

AI Used By OPP To Detect Criminals – More Arrests

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged three individuals with weapon and drug related charges after a traffic stop.

On May 8, 2025, just before 2:00 pm, an officer from the Orillia OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 12 in the Township of Ramara, when they were alerted to a possible traffic infraction while operating a cruiser equipped with an Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR). The officer received a notification that an Ontario licence plate was showing “Missing.” Subsequently, a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver of the motor vehicle was found to have outstanding Warrants from out of province. The driver was arrested, and the officer entered into a Criminal Investigation. During a search of the accused and the surrounding area of the vehicle, the officer located a quantity of Methamphetamine. The additional two passengers of the motor vehicle, as well as the driver, were arrested as well under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Further search of the vehicle located replica firearms, as well as other drug paraphernalia.

The three arrested parties were transported to the Orillia OPP Detachment so the investigation could continue. As a result, three parties were charged with the following offences:

Daniel RENAUD, 34-year-old of Bowmanville, was charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (CC) (x6),

–       Failure to Comply with Prohibition Order (CC),

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance (CDSA) (x3), and

–       Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (CDSA)

Renaud was held in custody to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia the following day.

Cleveland JOHNSTON, 53-year-old of Bowmanville, was charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order (CC), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance (CDSA) (x3)

Johnston was held in custody to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia the following day.

Emma GROVES-MCMILLEN, 21-year-old of Clarington, was charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance (CDSA) (x2)

Groves-McMillen was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date.

Additionally, numerous credit cards, Canadian currency, as well as Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Cocaine were seized as part of the investigation.

Assault & Drunk Driving – Albert ROSSI Arrested

 (SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Investigation results in charges for individual from Southwest Middlesex.

On May 11, 2025, at 4:01 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to an address on Thames Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex, for the report of an after-the-fact assault between two individuals, resulting from a traffic complaint.

As a result of the investigation, police located an involved individual at a nearby residence, at which time they were placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

Albert ROSSI, a 38-year-old of Southwest Middlesex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Assault
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on July 17, 2025.
