28 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on May 13, 2025.

On May 13, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic act offence. Through investigation the driver was charged with Impaired driving offences.

Cody VICKERSON, 28-year-old of Burnt River, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Speeding 1- 49 km/h over posted limit
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

Cody is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.

Cody received a 90 day licence suspension and his vehicle is impounded for 7 days.  

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.

6 Arrested After Rash Of Break & Enters

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON): The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) Detachment have arrested 6 individuals as a result of an ongoing investigation into the spree of Break and Enters within Bobcaygeon.

On April 17, 2025, members of the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment received a report of a local business, in Bobcaygeon, actively being broken into. Upon officers arrival, those involved were no longer there, an extensive and thorough investigation began. Members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment engaged and as a result of the investigation it was found that vehicles within the area had been broken into.

The investigation is still ongoing, however, the following have been arrested and charged.

Fire Hydrant Vs Vehicle Collision – One Arrested

(LAURENTIAN HILLS, ON) – A single-vehicle collision in the municipality of Laurentian Hills has resulted in charges being laid against the driver. 

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Main Street in Chalk River. Investigation found the vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch and struck a fire hydrant. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and further testing was conducted.

    As a result of this incident 29-year-old Dakota FRECH-ASSIGINACK is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Careless driving
  • Possess more than one licence

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 10, 2025.

OPP Openly Mock Train Collision

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)has partnered with Genesee and Wyoming Railroad (GEXR) and Huron County Emergency Services to conduct a mock collision in the Municipality of Huron East this week.

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 08:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m., Kinburn Line from Huron Road (Hwy 8) to Front Road in Huron East will be closed for the training exercise. There will be an increased presence of various emergency response vehicles in the area and motorists are asked to avoid the area to allow for a safe training environment.

Railway crossing and trespassing incidents in Canada and the U.S. seriously injure or kill more than 2,100 people each year.

“Ignoring railway signs and signals, being distracted at rail stations or crossings, or using tracks as a shortcut or a recreational path can lead to track tragedies that are entirely preventable,” said Provincial Constable Craig Soldan of the Huron County OPP.

The OPP is encouraging people to avoid risky behaviours around tracks and trains, so they stay safe and stay alive.”

29 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(NORTH KAWARTHA TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after receiving a call regarding a single vehicle collision.

On May 13, 2025, just prior to 12:00pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a collision that took place on McFadden Road in North Kawartha Township. The complainant advised there was a vehicle that had gone in the ditch near their location. Officers arrived on scene and located the driver who was arrested shortly after.

Austin COLLINGS (age 29) of Apsley, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 24, 2025

21 Year Old Arrested For Alcohol Theft

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrest a suspect in relation to a $6,100 theft of alcohol. Two suspect still outstanding.

On May 13, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a theft in progress at a local business in Elora on Metcalfe Street & Water Street East, involving three suspects actively stealing numerous bottles of premium alcohol from the back room of the business, with no regard to the business, the employees or customers inside.

At 7:02 p.m. Wellington County OPP arrived on scene and observed three suspects fleeing the area. A foot pursuit ensued, and one suspect was arrested without incident, and subsequently recovering the stolen alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Alexandru POPESCU, 21-year-old from Markham is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Theft Over $5,000

The accused remains in custody, pending a bail hearing.

Two other suspects are still outstanding. The Wellington OPP is requesting the public to check their dashcam / CCTV footage between the hours of 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on May 13, 2025, on Metcalfe Street or Water Street East, Elora, in the hopes of capturing the identity of the two remaining suspects and/or their motor vehicle licence plate.

Overdose Death – 42 Year Old Facing Manslaughter Charge

(WEST ELGIN, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Elgin County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, Elgin County OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner has culminated in criminal charges against a West Elgin resident.

On May 12, 2025, members of the Elgin County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), has charged one person as a result of an opioid overdose, which claimed a life in West Elgin.

On July 6, 2023, police were called to a residence in West Elgin where a 28-year-old male was found unresponsive and died at the scene. The investigation has revealed that the victim died because of an opioid overdose.

A 42-year-old male from West Elgin has been charged with:

·        Manslaughter

·        Traffick in Schedule I Substance – other drugs

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas at a later date.

Jesse LETOFSKY Was Arrested – Details Released

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Toronto resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic stop for speeding.

On May 11, 2025, just before 1:00 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Highway 10 in the Township of Melancthon. Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the male driver, officers noted signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation

Jesse LETOFSKY, a 42-year-old male, from Toronto has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

Seth AUCOIN Was Arrested

(Sydenham, ON) – A disturbance at a residence, where a driver fled operating a motorcycle at an excessive speed, has been charged.

A Frontenac OPP officer was patrolling in the area just after 3:30 p.m. when a motorcycle was observed, traveling north on Sydenham Road, which sped away from the officer at an excessive speed when it was attempted to be stopped for a traffic violation.

Several more traffic complaints were received from other citizens that observed the motorcycle speeding, passing and driving dangerously on Road 38 through the village of Verona.

Officers received information that the driver was now parked at a residence with the motorcycle. Frontenac OPP members located the accused, who was arrested as a result of the investigation into the driving complaints and damage to the residence where the initial disturbance took place.

Seth AUCOIN, a 34 year-old from Kingston was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a conveyance.
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
  • Mischief under $5000.
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed.
  • Drive motor vehicle – no plates.
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston, on July 15, 2025. They also had their drivers license suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

Eric SEGUIN Arrested Following Fire

(ELGIN, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual in connection with a suspicious fire in the village of Elgin.

On Saturday, May 10, 2025 at approximately 12:00 p.m., Leeds OPP and Rideau Lakes Fire Department responded to a fire at an uninhabited single-family home in the village of Elgin. No injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation by Leeds OPP members and Leeds County OPP Crime Unit, 34 year-old Eric SEGUIN of North Glengarry has been charged with:

  • Arson – damage to property
  • Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Theft under $5,000

The accused has been remanded into custody.

Jonathan HUMMELINK Was Arrested

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges.

On May 9, 2025, shortly after 10:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Baseline Road in Springwater Township.

Officers observed a vehicle that had stopped for the R.I.D.E. spot check and after speaking with the driver, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to an arrest. As a result of the investigation, Jonathan HUMMELINK, 31-year-old of Springwater, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Collingwood on June 3, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Douglas DWINNELL Was Arrested

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.

On May 8, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver in Springwater Township.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Carson Road. During the interaction, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to an arrest. As a result of the investigation, Douglas DWINNELL, 68-year-old of Barrie, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

Ashley Sheridan Was Arrested

(KEARNEY, ON) – One person is facing charges after The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop.

On May 10th, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on Highway 518 East, in the Township of Perry. 

Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, the driver, Ashley Sheridan, 39-years-old from Kearney, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on June 12, 2025.

One Dead At Warkworth – Quinnton DRAKE Facing Manslaughter Charge

(TRENT HILLS, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual in relation to a death investigation at the Warkworth Institution.

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, shortly after 7:00 p.m., the Northumberland OPP received information regarding an incident involving inmates at the institution. One person sustained serious injuries. 

On Friday, June 23, 2023, the individual succumbed to their injuries, and a homicide investigation was initiated by the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services.

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Quinnton DRAKE, 32 years old of Loyalist Township, was charged with manslaughter, section 236(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on May 13, 2025.
