Pervert Alert: Tyler HERBERT Arrested For Luring Children

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – Members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Rainy River District Crime Unit have charged an Atikokan resident with several sexual offences following a four-month investigation.

On October 25, 2023, members of the Atikokan OPP received information regarding historic sexual offences that had occurred in the Atikokan area and an investigation began.

As a result, with the assistance from the Rainy River District Crime Unit, Tyler HERBERT, 41-years-old, of Atikokan, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

•          Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication

•          Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication

•          Make sexually explicit material available to a person under 16 years of age

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on March 3rd, 2024, for a bail hearing.

Police are requesting anyone who may have additional information or believes that they were a victim of a similar circumstance to contact the Rainy River District OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Pervert Principal Alert: Douglas KENNEDY

(NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit has charged an individual in relation to a historical sexual offence.

The investigation began on November 16, 2023, after the victim reported the incident to police.

The incident is reported to have occurred between 1988 to 1991 while the accused was a principal at a school in Northumberland. The victim was a student and known to the accused during this time frame.

As a result, Douglas KENNEDY, 78-years-old of Peterborough, was arrested and charged with:

  • Sexual assault

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

Pervert Alert: Brian Edward COX – Sex With Children, Sexual Assault

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – In October 2023, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) began an investigation into reported historic sexual assaults that occurred between 1986 and 1991 throughout Wellington County.

As a result, Brian Edward COX, 68-years-old of Puslinch, has been charged with two counts of Sexual Assault, two counts of Sexual Assault, two counts of Gross Indecency and two counts of Sexual Intercourse With a Female Between 14 & 16 Years of Age, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on April 23, 2024

Pervert Alert – Want Some Candy?

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a suspicious person in Waterloo.

On February 26, 2024, at approximately 5 p.m., police responded to reports of an unknown male approaching children in the area of Brynhurst Boulevard and Keats Way.

The male told the children he had candy and continued to follow them as they attempted to leave the area.

There were no physical injuries reported.

The male is described as white, approximately 60 to 70 years old with a slim build, wearing a black hat, green jacket, black jeans and walking with a cane.

Pervert Alert – Andrew BERTAN Arrested For Child Pornography

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an Oro-Medonte resident following a child sexual exploitation investigation. 

A search warrant was executed at a residence by the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, with the assistance of the Orillia OPP Detachment, the Digital Forensics Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Several electronic devices were seized.

Andrew BERTAN, 55 years of age, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of child pornography, section 163.1(4) – two counts
  • Making Child Pornography available, section 163.1(3)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on February 20, 2024.

Children are our most vulnerable and precious members of society. Many victims of child sexual abuse are so young that they cannot tell their story. Every time an image or video depicting that abuse is shared, that child is re-victimized.

The OPP will continue to aggressively identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children.
