THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE

(Bancroft, Ontario) – At approximately 12:06 a.m. on Tuesday June 03rd, 2014 the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a vehicle theft from a garage on Otter Lake Road in Faraday Township. Officers attended the location and investigation revealed that at approximately 11:45 p.m. on the 02nd of June, a black Chevrolet Z-28 Camaro was stolen from a garage. The vehicle was last observed southbound on Highway 28 from Otter Lake Road.

The Bancroft OPP is asking anyone with information about this theft to contact them at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

MORE CHARGES LAID IN THE ILLEGAL SALE OF ALCOHOL

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals with the illegal sale of alcohol following two separate incidents.

Earlier in the month of May, officers investigated an assault occurrence where alcohol was a factor and some of the persons involved in the incident were under the legal age to consume liquor. A subsequent investigation into where the source of the alcohol came from was launched, and as a result, police have charged 22 year old Terry LEGROS of Sioux Lookout with unlawfully selling liquor and supplying liquor to a person under 19 years of age. LEGROS will appear in Provincial Offences Court on July 10, in Sioux Lookout.

More recently, during the morning of Friday May 30, officers on patrol on Front Street observed some suspicious activity in front of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) store. While monitoring some store patrons, officers observed an exchange of money for liquor. It was then confirmed the accused had completed the transaction and made a profit for his efforts. 42 year old Chris KOOSTACHIN of Deer Lake, Ontario has been charged with one count of unlawfully selling liquor. KOOSTACHIN was served a summons and will appear in Sioux Lookout Provincial Offences Court on July 10, 2014.

Drug Warrant Executed

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On Friday May 31, 2014 at approximately 4:48 p.m. Oneida Nation of the Thames Police, with the assistance of Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Oneida Fire Department, and Middlesex Centre Fire Services, responded to a fire near an outbuilding on Bodkin Road.

As a result of the police investigation, a marihuana grow operation was located.

Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant and seized approximately 956 marihuana plants in various stages of growth.

A 24 year old male, Clifton SMITH of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation was arrested and has been charged with produce a schedule II substance, contrary to the CDSA.

Smith was released and will be appearing in a London court to answer to the charge.

Fatal Crash – Driver Identified

(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON) – On Sunday, June 1, 2014 at approximately 10:57 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Lucan Biddulph Fire Department, and the Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a fatal single motor vehicle crash on Whalen Line near Mitchell Line in Lucan Biddulph.

As a result of the police investigation it was determined that a 2005 Buick car was travelling westbound on Whalen Line and for unknown reasons the car left the roadway.

It travelled into a field and rolled over, ejecting the lone male driver who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver has been identified as Jason Fuller age 29, of London, Ontario.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Team assisted with the investigation.

A section of Whalen Line between Mitchell Line and Stonehouse Line was closed for the investigation but has since been reopened.

The investigation is continuing.

David WILSON – Drunk Driving

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 01, 2014, at approximately 1:18am, a County of Wellington OPP officer investigated the driver of a black 2008 Ford F-150 pick-up truck that was observed driving erratically on Wellington Road 21 in Centre Wellington Township (formerly Pilkington Twp.).

Upon speaking with the driver, police discovered he had been drinking. He was administered a Roadside Screening Device test, which resulted in a fail.

The Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

David Wilson, age 56 of Fergus has been charged with Over 80mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 27, 2014 to answer to the charge.

DRUG CHARGE

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On June 01, 2014, at approximately 10:15am, County of Wellington OPP officers were conducting RIDE spot checks on Wellington Road 39 at Wellington Road 30, Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Upon speaking with the driver of a black 1998 Honda Civic automobile, police detected the odour of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle. As a result, the driver surrendered a small amount of marijuana.

Darcie Pyefinch age 24 of Fergus and Jordan Lovegrove age 23 of Guelph-Eramosa Township have been charged with Possession of Schedule 2 Substance – Marijuana – under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. They are scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 11 2014, to answer to the charges.

DRUG, FAIL TO COMPLY WITH RECOGNIZANCE CHARGES

(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On May 30, 2014, at approximately 9:47pm, County of Wellington OPP officers were conducting RIDE spot checks on Gore Road at Townline Road in Puslinch Township.

Upon speaking with the driver of a black 2009 Mazda 3 automobile, police detected the odour of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle. As a result, the driver surrendered a small amount of marijuana.

Further investigation revealed the male driver was under court imposed conditions not to have contact with the female passenger of the vehicle.

Shayne Brand, age 43 of Cambridge has been charged with Possession of Schedule 2 Substance – Marijuana – under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well Failing to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 15 2014, to answer to the charges.

Jose Vasconcelos – Drunk Driving

Theft of Vehicle

(NORTH WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On May 30, 2014 at approximately 6pm, County of Wellington OPP received the report of a theft of a vehicle from a residence in Arthur.

Stolen was a 2012 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4 door pick-up truck, white in colour, bearing licence # AD56071. The box of the truck contained numerous items including a generator, shop-vac, shovels, pylons, a gas can and a tool box with assorted hand tools.

ANNUAL COMMUNITY POLICING COMMITTEES PROPERTY & BICYCLE AUCTION

(CLEARVIEW & SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP & WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On Sunday, June 22nd, 2014 the Community Policing Committees of the Huronia West Detachment area will be holding their annual “Property and Bicycle” auction. This event will take place at the rear of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police at 1000 River Road West, Wasaga Beach (behind the big brown storage container), with viewing of the items starting at 12:00 p.m. and the auction starting at 1:00 p.m.

This year we are very happy to have a celebrity auctioneer Mr. Steve Green and a fund raising barbeque.

As always we will be auctioning off previously loved bicycles of various styles and conditions and numerous property items, including both hand tools and clothing items, electronics and some jewellery. Please remember all transactions are cash only, so bring lots and all sales are final!

Auction proceeds will go to Clearview, Springwater and Wasaga Beach Community Policing Committees to help fund safety and crime prevention initiatives in their communities.

DRUG WARRANT EXECUTED IN NORWICH TOWNSHIP – Correction to Release

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement West Unit and Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) with the assistance of the Oxford County OPP and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) members, conducted a search warrant at a residence on Cedar Line on May 31, 2014 in Norwich Township.

The warrant led to the seizure of approximately 87 grams of Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDVP- commonly referred to as “Bath Salts”), 37 grams of Cannabis Marihuana Bud, 21 Cannabis Marihuana Plants and approximately $2,500 in cash. Also seized were three firearms, ammunition and one vehicle.

Police arrested and charged two males as a result of this investigation.

Charged with the following is, 33 year old Justin ELSBRIE and 27 year old Nathan TAYLOR, both of Norwich Township:

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Other Drug (MDPV)
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cannabis Marihuana
Produce a Schedule II substance – Cannabis Marihuana
Import a Schedule I substance – Other Drug (MDPV)
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Both were held for bail hearings, and are scheduled to appear in Woodstock Court on the June 2, 2014.

BREAK AND ENTER RESULTS IN FEMALE BEING ARRESTED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment have arrested and charged a 28 year old female after police were called to a Concession 2, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Sunday, June 1, 2014 at approximately 6:26 a.m., a homeowner was woken after hearing a knock on their door. The homeowner attended downstairs where they encountered a female standing inside the residence.

The homeowner confronted the female and then escorted her from the residence. She was last seen walking down Concession Road 2 towards Townline Road at which time police were contacted.

As result of investigation, police subsequently arrested a female.

Charged with break and enter and fail to comply with probation order is 28 year old Chantal Lynn PORTER of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation Territory.

She is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

OPP NOT SOLICITING FUNDS FOR ITS COMMUNITY BEAR PROGRAM

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has received a number of inquiries from residents asking about police organizations calling to solicit funds for teddy bears.

While many OPP officers are involved in worthy charities on their own time, the OPP is advising the public that it does not solicit funds from members of the public for its Community Bear Program or any other OPP program. The OPP’s Community Bear Program is sponsored by Aviva Canada Inc.

Through the sponsorship, Aviva Canada Inc. provides OPP officers with black and white teddy bears which they give to traumatized children they encounter when they respond to incidents such as motor vehicle collisions.

The OPP is reminding people to verify the legitimacy of any organization that calls to solicit funds from the public.

Single Vehicle Collision – Male Driver Charged with Over 80mgs

(NAPANEE, ON)- On Saturday May 31st, 2014, at 8:19 p.m an officer with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 westbound at County Rd 4.

A 2003 Pontiac Sunfire was in the median ditch between the on and off ramp of Highway 401 at County Rd 4. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Charged with Drive Over 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the Criminal Code is 26 year-old Jareth VALLIER of Kingston, Ontario.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in Napanee Provincial Court on June 17th, 2014.
