CDSA SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On Friday May 30, 2014 at approximately 4:48 p.m. Oneida Nation of the Thames Police, with the assistance of Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Oneida Fire Department, and Middlesex Centre Fire Services, responded to a fire near an outbuilding on Bodkin Road.

As a result of the police investigation, a marihuana grow operation was located.

Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant and seized approximately 956 marihuana plants in various stages of growth.

A 24 year old male, Clifton SMITH of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation was arrested and has been charged with produce a schedule II substance, contrary to the CDSA.

Smith was released and will be appearing in a London court to answer to the charge.

OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(ORO-MEDONTE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Monday June 3, 2014, at 9:37PM, officers from the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision that had occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 11, just north of Line 6 in Oro-Medonte Township.

Upon arrival of the police, it was determined that a southbound motor vehicle had lost control and struck the centre box beam restraining barrier. Portions of the barrier and debris from the initial impact littered the highway which resulted in two other motor vehicles being damaged.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 26-year old female from Severn Township was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of the investigation that was conducted by members of the Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Unit and the Barrie OPP, northbound Highway 11 was closed at Line 5 and southbound Highway 11 was closed at Line 7 until approximately 6:00AM this morning. The highway did reopen with a single lane in each direction while crews replaced the damage centre box beam.

The OPP wish to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while this section of highway was closed overnight and also while lane restrictions remained in place while repairs were carried out.

The investigation into this traffic fatality remains ongoing. Any witnesses are asked to please call the Barrie OPP at (705) 726-6484.

THEFT

(Brudenell Lyndoch Raglan Township, ON) Provincial Constable Lindsay Moore is investigating the theft of quartz rocks from a residence located on Ravenswood Lane. Sometime on May 28, 2014 between the hours of 8:00am and 2:30pm unknown person(s) removed the stones from the property. (Madawaska Valley Township, ON) Killaloe OPP are investigating the theft of roofing materials from a property located on Diamond Lake Road. Sometime between May 26, 2014 and May 28, 2014 unknown person(s) removed metal roofing that was left near the roadway on the property. OPP VETERANS’ DAY

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – Quinte West OPP will be hosting the OPP Veterans’ Day on June 5th, 2014 at City Hall in Trenton.

The Ontario Provincial Police feel that our veterans are an important part of the OPP and play a vital role in the OPP’s history.

To show our appreciation the Quinte West OPP will be hosting a social gathering for retired police officers with light refreshments in the City Hall Council Chambers at 7 Creswell Dr. between 10:00am and 12:00pm.

Quinte West City Council has also proclaimed June 5th as Veterans’ Day.

The Quinte West OPP would like to extend an invitation to Municipal Police retirees as well as retired OPP members from the Quinte Region.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(Hwy# 7, Mamora, ON) – On June 2, 2014 at 7:45 a.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway # 7 near Greensides Lane in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake after it left the roadway and struck a guardrail. As a result the 23 year old female driver of Rideau Ferry, ON was charged with Careless Driving.

BREAK AND ENTER

(Madoc Twp, ON) – Sometime between May 29, 2014 at 5 p.m. and June 2, 2014 at 6:30 a.m. a break and enter occurred to a Hydro One storage site on Highway #62 just north of Kellers Bridge Road in Madoc Township.

The suspect(s) entered a fenced perimeter and broke into two trailers located inside. Numerous construction related tools and items were stolen including an air compressor, air impact tool, quick cut saw, as well as safety glasses, work gloves and paint brushes.

DRIVER IDENTIFIED IN FATAL COLLISION

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On May 29, 2014 at 4:40 p.m. officers from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a car and a tractor trailer where the driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver has been identified as 51 year old Daryl Todd PRICE of Cypress River Manitoba.

Fatal Hit And Run – Mark Gagne Arrested

(KEMPTVILLE, ON) – On June 1, 2014, at approximately 5:15pm, officers of the Grenville detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal hit and run collision on Townline Road, Oxford.

Fifty-four (54) year old Roy Chapman was killed after he was struck by a grey pick-up truck while he was riding a bicycle.

Yesterday, at approximately 7:00am, officers located the suspect and vehicle at a residence in North Grenville. The driver, 52 year-old Mark Gagne of North Grenville, was arrested at his home and is presently in custody facing charges.

He is scheduled to reappear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville, on Thursday, June 5, 2014.

Break and Enter, ATV Stolen

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County detachment is investigating a break and enter at a George St., Dunnville, Haldimand County, ON address.

Sometime during the early morning hours of Tuesday June 3rd, 2014 unknown(s) attended the property and entered an unlocked storage shed. Once inside a green 1999 Yamaha All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was located and removed with the assistance of the ignition key. Value of the theft is approximately $3000 dollars.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED CAUSING BODILY HARM

Police have charged the 21 year old male driver of the Toyota car with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm and Operating a Motor Vehicle Over the Legal Limit Causing Bodily Harm.

Henry WALL from Niagara Falls was operating his 2001 Toyota car westbound on Ron McNeil Line in the Township of Malahide when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Ron McNeil Line and Imperial Road. The car was struck by a 2009 Ford pick-up truck traveling south on Imperial Rd.

In the Toyota car the driver and a front seat passenger, a 20 year old Niagara Falls man were not injured in the collision, however the rear seat passenger, a 20 year old Southgate Township, ON man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. He is currently listed in stable condition.

The three occupants of the pick-up truck, the 71 year old male driver from Tillsonburg, his 67 year old wife and their 15 year old granddaughter from the Township of Bayham were all transported to hospital with minor injuries and later released.

All parties were wearing their seatbelts.

As a result of the investigation police arrested and have charged Henry WALL, age 20 of Niagara Falls, ON with;

1. Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm

2. Operating a Motor Vehicle Over the Legal Limit Causing Bodily Harm.

WALL was held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing and later released on a recognizance.

The intersection at Imperial Road and Ron McNeil Line was closed until approximately 3:30am on June 2, 2014 to facilitate the investigation.

PERSONAL INJURY COLLISION

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County and Haldimand County Fire Department responded to a personal injury motor vehicle collision at the intersection of County Road #55 and Walpole Concession Raod #6, Haldimand County, ON.

On Thursday May 29th, 2014 at approximately 2:35 pm a white 1997 Dodge pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Concession Road #6 when it entered into the intersection of County Road #55 and was struck by a north bound blue 2012 International fuel tanker.

As a result of the collision the driver of the Dodge pickup truck identified as 56 year old Michael D’AGATA of Haldimand County, ON sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital after receiving emergency medical treatment from Haldimand County paramedics. He was then flown to a Hamilton area hospital by air ambulance for further treatment.

The driver of the International truck identified as 44 year old Robert LOWES of Brant County, ON was not physically injured during the collision.

Concession Road #6 is controlled by stop signs for east and west bound traffic.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation which is continuing.

THEFT OF GENERATOR

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Monday the 02nd of June 2014, an Officer from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario (OPP) was dispatched to the report of a theft from the Carlow Township Landfill site. Investigation revealed that sometime between the 25th and 28th of May, a shed was entered and a generator was stolen.

BANCROFT CENTURY SHOPPE BREAK AND ENTER

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Monday the 02nd of June 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a break and enter at the Bancroft Century Shoppe on Bridge Street East in the Town of Bancroft. Investigation revealed that sometime overnight a trailer on the property was entered. Property reported stolen included a book shelf, china cabinet and tool box.

UTTERING THREATS

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On June 2nd, 2014 at approximately 7:00 pm Quinte West OPP responded to a Trenton address for the report of a threatening incident.

When police arrived on scene it was learned that a 34 year old Trenton male threatened to attend the victim’s address and harm the victim and his family.

OPP officers arrested the 34 year old Trenton male a short time later for Uttering Threats x 2 and Breach of Court Order.

The male is being held for a bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice 15 Bridge St West, Belleville.
