FEDERAL INMATE WANTED

(TORONTO, ON) – The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a federal offender wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant as result of their Breach of Parole.

The offender is serving a 5 year and 6 month sentence for Sexual Assault, Forcible Confinement, Failure to Comply with a Probation Order and Obstruct Police.

Kenneth HILL is described as a 38 year old male, 5’8” (175 cm’s), 220 lbs (100kg’s), with brown eyes and short dark hair.

The offender is known to frequent the Windsor area.

OPP CHARGE 3 INMATES FOR ATTEMPT MURDER

(NAPANEE, ON) – On Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at approximately 8:30pm, Patrol Officers and Crime Unit members of the Napanee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious assault at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee.

A 34-year-old male inmate was assaulted by other male inmates and had to be taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Charged are:

1. Ivan Edward BELKNAP, 43
2. Trevor COX, 25 and
3. Jason WAGNER, 35

with:

Attempt Murder,
Aggravated Assault and
Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle Another Person

All three accused’s remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Napanee today, June 5, 2014.

OPP CHARGE FEMALE WITH THEFT

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Tuesday April 1, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) started an investigation regarding theft of money from a Hamilton Township residence.

OPP spoke with the female victim of the Moore Service Road address and she reported that she had $600 cash to be used later for her rent hidden away in a location within her home. She reported to police that she had found the envelope that the money was supposed to be in after two of her friends (a male and female) had come to visit and had left.

Northumberland OPP’s Street Response Team (SRT) continued this investigation and on June 2, 2014 arrested Sarah McBURNEY, 29 from Whitby, Ontario. The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 under the Criminal Code. She was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg, Ontario on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at 9:30 am.

UPDATE-MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING TRAIN

(ESSA)- On June 4, 2014 at 3:51pm, the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a train on the 6th Line of Essa, just south of the 30th Sideroad.

The driver of the F150 pickup truck, a 34 year old Guelph area resident is in stable condition in a Toronto area hospital.

The pickup truck was crossing the CP rail line on a private road way behind Old Mill Road in Essa and the CP train was travelling northbound along the line.

Nottawasaga OPP would like to thank Essa Fire Department, Simcoe County Paramedics, Ornge Air Ambulance Services and Canadian Pacific Railway for all their assistance.

STRUCTURE FIRE IN DUNDALK

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at approximately 6:43 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a structure fire on Main St. W., Dundalk, in the Township of Southgate.

The Dundalk Fire Department and the West Grey Fire Department responded to the scene. The structure, an older two storey brick 4-plex apartment building, received extensive damage as a result of the fire.

All 4 apartments were unoccupied at the time. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time but is not believed to be suspicious.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office was contacted but will not be investigating.

Members of Victim Services and the Red Cross attended to offer assistance to the tenants.

UNWANTED MALE ARRESTED FOR PUBLIC INTOXICATION

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at approximately 7:05 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an unwanted male on McDowell Street, Dundalk, in the Township of Southgate.

The male, who was intoxicated, had attempted to enter the caller’s vehicle and then proceeded to attempt to enter the caller’s residence. The male left and returned a short time later with a beer in his hand, advising the call that he wanted to “hang out”. The male had left again, but as police arrived on scene, they observed the male returning to the complainant’s residence.

Ryan IRELAND, 29, of Dundalk, Ontario was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act. He was taken to the Markdale Detachment and held until sober.

The complainant and the unwanted male are known to each other.

MISCHIEF

(North Glengarry) – On June 4th, 2014 at approximately 9:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of an aggressive youth at a property on McNab Street in the Town of Alexandria, North Glengarry Township. Investigation indicated the male youth had caused damage within the building.

The 16year old from South Glengarry was arrested and is charged with;

– Mischief under $5000

He was released and scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on July 9th, 2014.

(North Dundas) – On June 4th, 2014 at approximately 7:15pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of threats at a residence on Queen Street in the Village of Chesterville, North Dundas Township. Investigation indicated a verbal altercation between two males (34 and 38yrs) resulted in one threatening the others life.

The 34year old male from North Dundas was arrested and is charged with;

He was released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on June 24th, 2014.

DRUGS SEIZED

(North Dundas) – On June 4th, 2014 at approximately 9:30pm, SD&G OPP officers had the occasion to check a suspicious vehicle at a property on Queen Street in the Village of Chesterville, North Dundas Township. The stop resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of suspected marihuana from two occupants.

The driver, Josh FREAKE (19) and passenger Evan DURANT (20) both from North Dundas were arrested and each charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance

They were released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on July 8th, 2014.

ATV OPERATOR INJURED

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Monday, June 2, 2014 at approximately 6:51 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Concession 14 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The driver was operating a 2011 Suzuki LTA500 eastbound on Concession 14 when he lost control of the vehicle. The ATV rolled; ejecting the driver who was not wearing a helmet.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released.

Douglas Arnold VARLEY, 54, of Wasaga Beach, Ontario was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act and failing to wear a helmet under the Off Road Vehicles Act.

R.I.D.E. CHECK LEADS TO ARREST

(CALEDON, ON) – On May 29th, 2014 at approximately 3:52 pm, officers from the Community Response Unit (CRU) of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) check in the area of St. Andrews Road and the Grange Side Road.

The officers observed a Dodge Ram pick-up enter the R.I.D.E. check and upon speaking with the driver, immediately detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath.

Subsequently, the driver was given the roadside screening breath demand. The driver provided a sample of his breath which registered a fail.

In conclusion, Yogeshkumar PATEL, 50, of Brampton was arrested and charged with Over 80.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on June 19, 2014.

RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTER

(Douro Dummer Township, ON) – On Wednesday June 4 at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a Break and Enter to a residence that occurred on Coral Drive.

At some time overnight unknown suspects entered the victims open garage and then entered the unlocked motor vehicle parked inside. Once inside the vehicle the suspect stole a Lap top computer and cigarettes then fled the scene.

BREAK AND ENTER IN KEEWATIN

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a break and enter that occurred in Keewatin this morning.

On Thursday June 5, 2014 shortly after 2:00 am the Kenora OPP received a call that a male suspect had attempted to enter a home in Keewatin. The resident heard an unknown person open the door to her home and called out. The suspect fled the scene.

The suspect is described as male, approximately 5”8 with dark hair wearing a brown hoodie.

Police attended immediately and were assisted by the OPP K9 Unit, Kenora Detachment Marine and Trails Unit, Kenora Forensic Identification Unit, Scenes of Crime Officers, Treaty Three Police and Kenora Crime Unit members. The suspect was not located and the investigation is continuing. Uniform and plain-clothes police officers will be canvassing the area today.

COLLISION HWY 15 (SECOND UPDATE) MAN CHARGED

(Montague Township, ON) – Officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have concluded the investigation into a three vehicle collision that closed Hwy 15, between Ford Road and MacPherson Road in the Township of Montague on the morning of Wednesday 21st May 2014.

Gregory MAYHEW (23 years) was charged with one count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. Both are offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. MAYHEW is to appear at the Provincial Court in Perth.

Three people were injured in the collision. One was taken by Air Ambulance to Hospital in Ottawa a second to Hospital in Carleton Place both with serious injuries.
