(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment is currently investigating a motor vehicle collision at a Governors Road East, Brant County, Ontario address.

On Thursday, June 5, 2014 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Brant County OPP, Brant County Fire Services and Brant County Paramedics responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist.

Investigation has determined that a cyclist and a Honda motor vehicle were travelling eastbound on Governors Road when they became involved in a collision.

The cyclist suffered life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Governors Road East between Park Road and St George Road will be closed for several hours to allow for investigation.

The police are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Brant County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

(RENFREW, ON) – Today, at approximately 6:35pm, a black bear was observed in and around a business in the Town of Renfrew. The OPP are warning everyone to keep watch and to stay away from the bear if it is seen. Call the OPP immediately. Do not approach the bear.

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Tuesday June 03rd 2014, at approximately 2:32 p.m. an officer from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a male lying on the ground on Bridge Street West, in the Town of Bancroft. Officers attended the location where the located a man deceased.

The male has been identified as 58 year old Danny McLay of Bancroft, Ontario. A post mortem examination was conducted and further testing is required to determine cause of death.

Although foul play is not suspected in his death at this time, officers are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone who may have information to contact the Bancroft OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

(Selwyn Township, ON) – On Thursday June 5, Peterborough County OPP received several inquiries from local media centres enquiring about an incident at St Martins School in Ennismore Ontario.

Peterborough County OPP is advising that the school was in a Hold and Secure setting temporarily today due to an external traumatic event that occurred elsewhere in Peterborough County.

Measures were taken to ensure that all staff and students were safe and that they were made aware of an emotional event. At no time were the students and staff in any danger and the measures were only taken to ensure the safety of all parties involved.

The OPP are currently conducting a non-criminal investigation into the events that initiated the safety measures.

More details will be made available as the investigation continues.

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, June 7, 2014, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, the 2014 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Cop Camp participants, will be washing cars to raise money for charity.

This year’s Cop Camp involves 90 youths, aged 11 and 12, who reside within OPP policed areas of Essex County. Those students chosen have graduated from the Grade 6 Values, Influences and Peers (VIP) program, from schools within our communities. Each summer they are brought together for a week of teamwork and leadership building, socializing and positive exposure to police officers along with camping fun.

One of the themes of Cop Camp is “Pay It Forward”, where students are encouraged to consistently give back to their communities by volunteering, or doing kind things in general.

The first “Meet and Greet” for the campers will take place this Saturday, where money raised through the car wash, will be donated by the campers to the John McGivney Children’s Centre to purchase equipment for other children.

The event will take place at the Puce Fire Hall at 1031 Essex County Road 22 in Lakeshore as well as the Essex Fire Hall at 55 Alice Street in Essex.

Please stop by and donate while these ambitious children wash your vehicles.

(NOTTAWASAGA)- On June 4, 2014 at 8:54pm at a rural residence on the 8th line of Essa, an elderly female answered her door to a male 25-40 years of age who indicated that he would spray her driveway.

The male was insistent on doing the spraying even though the home owner made it clear she did not want the work done, the male even stepped inside the residence uninvited. A portion of the driveway was sprayed by the male suspect who then demanded $700 for the work completed.

The male suspect is described as being taller than 5’9

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating an incident of mischief to a front-end loader located at the Middlesex County gravel pit on Rebecca Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre.

Sometime between May 29, 2014 and June 2, 2014, unknown suspect(s) entered the property on Rebecca Road just south of Thorndale Road. Once on the property, the suspect(s) caused damage to the windshield and caused further damage to the motor component of the machinery. The value of the damage has not been determined.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On Saturday, May 24, 2014 at approximately 4:00 p.m. Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of two bicycles found on private commercial property in Middlesex Centre.

One is described as an adult silver touring bicycle, and the second is described as an adult blue racing bicycle.

Police are attempting to locate the owner(s) of these bicycles.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact Constable Liz Melvin of the Middlesex County OPP, Strathroy Detachment at 1-519-245-2323.

The OPP want to remind all bicycle owners to record their make, model, and serial numbers in the event that their bicycle is stolen and recovered. This will greatly assist in positive identification, allowing the bicycle to be returned to the rightful owner.

(Ottawa, ON) -The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is currently investigating a motor vehicle collision.

At approximately 1:06 pm, a single vehicle roll over collision occurred on Highway 416 southbound north of Bankfield Road. As a result, 2 people suffered non-life-threatening injuries, one of which was ejected and transported to hospital. A third person, a 3 year old child was also ejected and transported to hospital. The status of the child is unknown at this time.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane.

The collision in under investigation and the OPP is asking anyone who may have any information about this incident to contact the OPP at 613-270-9171.

(NORTH BAY, ON) – The North Bay Provincial Police (OPP) has investigated 27 motor vehicle collisions involving wildlife in the North Bay area in the past month.

Wild animals are unpredictable at all times. However the black flies and the salty grass along the roadways will bring the animals out onto the road unexpectedly. Animals like bear, deer and moose are also moving to their summer feeding areas. Most wildlife collisions occur between 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., with 87 per cent occurring in good weather.

(Napanee, ON)- On Sunday, June 01st, 2014, at 7:34 p.m. an officer with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision approximately 100 metres west of 1625, South Shore Rd, Greater Napanee. As the officer was enroute to the collision scene, dispatch advised the vehicle had been reported as stolen.

The vehicle involved a was a 2014 Dodge Ram Truck grey in color. There was extensive damage to the front end of the truck, as it had struck and severed a hydro pole on the south side of the road. There was no driver of this vehicle at the scene upon police arrival. (TRENT HILLS, ON) – On Wednesday June 4, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen vehicle being driven in Campbellford, Ontario.

The OPP located the 2006 silver Hyundai Elantra at approximately 7:00 pm on County Road 25 south of County Road 35 in the Municipality of Trent Hills with two male occupants.

The officers entered into an investigation on the vehicle and found it was stolen from Lakefield on June 1, 2014.

Jesse John Brandon MOORE, 19 from Peterborough has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Fail to comply probation order – 4 counts
Fail to comply disposition

The accused was held for a bail hearing on Thursday June 5, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

A 17 year old male youth has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 under the Criminal Code. The accused cannot be name in accordance to the Youth Criminal Justice Act provisions. He was released on a promise to appear in Youth Court on Tuesday July 7, 2014 in Brighton.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE TWP, ON) – Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating the theft of a pickup truck from a commercial property. Police have learned that sometime between June 1, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. June 2, 2014 unknown suspect(s) entered the property of a local tow company on Vanneck Road south of Egremont Drive in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre and stole a pickup truck parked on the commercial property.

The stolen truck is described as a 2008 Silver Nissan Titan.

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at approximately 12:08 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information about a suspicious person/vehicle observed in Dundalk, in the Township of Southgate.

Four (4) females, all 12 years of age, reported they were approached by an unknown male while they were walking on Main St., E., in Dundalk. The male brushed against one of the girls and asked them if they had any beer. They started to run and the male chased after them but then he ducked into an alley. The incident, which occurred on Friday eveing, May 23rd, was not reported to police. The girls disclosed two other incidents which occurred on Saturday, May 31st, where the same unknown male appeared to be following them in his pick-up truck.

Grey County OPP, with the assistance of the Grey County OPP Crime Unit, are investigating and ask anyone with information which may assist, to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

– dark brown, buzzed hair with some grey
– wide shoulders
– mark on left calf – possibly a tattoo of some symbol (possibly Chinese)

– older model, dark green pick-up truck

– open bed – tail gate down

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Tuesday, June 3 2014 at approximately 11:05 am, an officer from the Upsala Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a 2007 Mazda 3 travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17. The officer conducted a traffic stop and further investigation resulted in the officer locating approximately 44 grams of Cannabis Marihuana and 8 grams of Cocaine.

Michael GAGNON, 19 years of age, and William BLONDIN, 20 years of age, both from Becancour, Quebec were arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule l Substance-Cocaine and Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Marihuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

They are both to appear in Provincial Court on August 12 2014 to answer to the charges.
