BREAK AND ENTERS CONTINUE-UPDATE-TWO YOUTHS CHARGED

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two male youths in connection a stolen vehicle in the north end of Kenora yesterday.

On Thursday June 12, 2014 just before 4:00 am, the Kenora OPP received a call that a male entered a residence while the occupants were sleeping. The suspect stole a purse, keys and the vehicle parked in their driveway. The stolen vehicle was reported to be a silver Chrysler Town and Country mini-van.

On June 12 at around 10:15 am police received a call from the vehicle owner that he had observed the stolen vehicle travelling southbound on highway 671. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested three occupants, an adult male and two male youths.

As a result of this investigation, a 16 year old Grassy Narrows youth and a 17 year old Kenora youth have been charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code. They have both been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Kenora Court on June 13, 2014.

The names of the youths cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The adult male was released unconditionally.

The investigation is continuing.

UPDATE-MALE ARRESTED IN ROBBERY INCIDENT OUTSIDE OF ORILLIA BANK

(ORILLIA, ON) – On June 11, 2014 at approximately 12:44 p.m., Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the report of a robbery outside of an Orillia bank.

Officers attended outside of the Bank of Montreal at West Street and Mississaga Street and were advised that a male had stolen a bag of money from a customer that had just left the bank. Officers flooded the area and arrested a male party not far from the scene. The bag containing the money was recovered.

Shane MCMEEKIN, 35 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Robbery, Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2 and Breach of a Court Order. He was held in custody and will next appear in court on June 26, 2014 in Barrie.

DRIVER CHARGED IN SINGLE VEHICLE ROLLOVER

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On June 11, 2014, just after 5:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving a single motor vehicle on Highway 401 near Mull Road.

The collision occurred when a Honda Civic that was travelling eastbound, left the roadway and rolled over, coming to rest in the centre median.

The female driver, 23 year old Anne-Lisa MIKHAIL, from North York, has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Both the driver and passenger were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released.

COLLISION ON PERTH-OXFORD ROAD

(EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising of a collision on Perth-Oxford Road at 16th line in East Zorra-Tavistock Township involving two motorcycles.

Serious injuries reported. Perth-Oxford Road is closed between the 15th and 17th Line. As well 16th Line is closed between Perth-Oxford Road and Maplewood Side Road. Traffic is being diverted in the area, police request motorists to obey all road closed signs.

OPP and other emergency vehicles are on the scene and are advising motorists to slow down and be cautious in that area for at least several hours.

Cause of the collision is still under investigation.

TIRES AND RIMS STOLEN

(CALEDON, ON) – On May 24, 2014, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate the theft of tires and rims from the back of pick-up truck.

The investigation has revealed that the owner of the pick-up truck left his vehicle unattended at a Highway 10 gas station. While the owner was away, suspects attended the location and stole 4 Harley Davidson rims and tires from rear of the truck. Video footage reveals that the suspect vehicle is an older model pick-up truck with a green sticker on the driver’s side rear of the truck.

MALE CHARGED FOLLOWING MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(CALEDON, ON) – On June 1, 2014 shortly after 2:30 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a single motor vehicle collision which occurred on Royalton Drive and Pavin Crescent in the Village of Bolton.

An investigation has revealed that the driver was travelling eastbound on Landsbridge Street when he failed to come to a complete stop at the Royalton Drive intersection. Upon turning southbound onto Royalton Drive the driver lost control of his motor vehicle. The vehicle struck the curb causing the vehicle to travel onto private property. The officer demanded the driver produce a sample of his breath which resulted in a finding that his blood alcohol level was above zero.

As a result of the investigation, James Jonathan HARKINS, 20, of Caledon was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle and Novice Driver, Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Caledon on July 14, 2014.

OPP SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING MISSING TEEN

(Selwyn Township, ON) -Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 15 year old male missing from Lindsay Road in Selwyn Township.

Officers were called to a Lindsay Road residence on June 10th, 2014 at approximately after a report that a 15 year old male had left the residence without adult supervision, The youth has not returned home when expected, and the police were contacted to assist in locating him.

The missing male Benjamin (Ben), PUGLISI is 5’6”, 130lbs, thin build with a light complexion, short blonde hair, and has braces on his upper and lower teeth.

The youth has a history of running away. Foul play is not suspected, but authorities are concerned about his whereabouts. Information has been received that the youth may be headed to the City of Brampton.

The OPP are requesting the assistance of the public in locating this missing person and are asking that if anyone sees her or knows of her whereabouts to please call 1-705-742-0401 for the Peterborough County OPP or if an emegency‘911’ immediately. Attached is a colour photo copy of this missing person.

LAMBTON OPP CONTINUES COLLISION INVESTIGATION

(POINT EDWARD, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Point Edward Fire Service responded on June 12, 2014 just after 2:00 a.m. to a single motor vehicle collision on Front Street near Village Green.

The collision resulted in a substantial amount of property damage however it is unknown if there were any injuries as the occupants of the involved vehicle fled the scene.

The Lambton OPP called in the OPP Canine (K9) Unit to assist with the investigation, and, Lambton OPP is asking the public for help in the matter.

Anyone with information about the vehicle, the occupants, or any other information about this collision, is asked to please call the Lambton OPP or Crime Stoppers.

More information will be released when it becomes available as this investigation continues.

Dakota Ralph LOGAN – Drunk Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at approximately 9:41 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on the Lower Valley Road in the Municipality of Grey Highlands and the occupants observed drinking alcoholic beverages.

Police located the suspect vehicle, a 2002 Honda Civic on the Lower Valley. The driver was given a roadside breath test, which he failed. He was arrested for impaired driving and brought to the Meaford Detachment for further breath tests.

Dakota Ralph LOGAN, 20, of the Township of Southgate, was charged with over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, June 29, 2014.

OPP Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Witness Driver

(Aweres Township, ON) – On June 11, 2014 at approximately 1:00pm Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police received a traffic complaint regarding an aggressive driver traveling northbound on Highway 17 in Aweres Township.

It is alleged that a northbound red pickup truck pulled into oncoming traffic and began to pass. An oncoming grey SUV traveling southbound had to take evasive action to avoid a head on collision. The truck that was being passed by the red pickup and a second truck behind it also had to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

The involved vehicles pulled into a parking lot at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 556.

An altercation ensued between several parties and as a result the following charges have been laid:

Calvin LYNN, 21 year old, of Adelaide Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario has been arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Harrison KNOX, 26 years old, of Airport Road Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario has been arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Daniel KNOX, 59 years old, of Cathcart Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario has been arrested and charged with one count of Obstruct Peace Officer, two counts of Assault Peace Officer, and two counts of Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Sherry Lynn COLE, 38 years old, of Bainbridge Street, Sault Ste.Marie, Ontario has been arrested and charged with one count of Obstruct Peace Officer.

All accused have been released on a Promise to Appear in Provincial Court on July 21, 2014.

OPP seeking the public’s assistance in locating a witness driver in the small grey SUV style vehicle that had been traveling southbound on Highway 17 at the time of the incident.

TWO CHARGED AFTER DRUG EXCHANGE

(WAWA, ON) – On Wednesday June 11, 2014 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment arrested and charged two individuals under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA). The charges are a result of a drug exchange observed at Centennial Park in Wawa at 1:35 pm.

OPP arrested 21-year-old Kalvin HACK of Wawa, he stands charged with Trafficking Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana as per s. 5(1) of the CDSA and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 as per s. 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

A 16-year-old youth was also arrested and charged by OPP, the youth stands charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana as per s. 4(1) of the CDSA.

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Wawa, Ontario at the Court of Justice on July 14, 2014.

The OPP recognize drug abuse as having a serious impact on community safety, leading to increases in a wide spectrum of violent acts and property crimes. It is for these reasons that OPP make it a priority to keep drugs out of the hands of minors.

SUPPORT WORKER FACING THEFT CHARGE

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers investigated a theft involving a support worker for a County of Brant resident.

On Saturday June 7th, 2014, officers were advised that an elderly female was missing money from her residence. Officers met with the family and found that a support worker hand taken money from the 94 year old female victims purse.

Amanda WHITE 24 years of age from the City of Brantford is facing the following criminal charge

Theft Under $5,000.00

The accused is scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on July 11th, 2014 to answer to the charge.

DRUGS/WEAPON SEIZED

(North Dundas ) – On June 11th, 2014 at approximately 7:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a property on Irish Headline Road, North Dundas Township. A check of the noted vehicle resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of suspected marihuana, methamphetamine pills and a BB handgun.

Audley SMITH (43) of Quebec, Qc was arrested and is charged with;

– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

He was released and scheduled to appear in Morrisburg court on August 5th, 2014.

THEFTS

(North Dundas) – Between 10-11June, 2014 a 2007 Corn Pro tilt trailer, red in color with Ontario plate #K7450B was taken from a property on County Road 43 (old MTO yard) North Dundas Township.

(North Glengarry) – Overnight 10-11June, 2014 a vending machine was forcibly entered at a property (Glengarry Golf & Country Club) on McCormick Road, North Glengarry Township. A quantity of cash was taken.

Investigations continue.

DRIVER CHARGED IN SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On June 10, 2014, just before 11:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving a single motor vehicle on Highway 401 near Harwich Road.

The collision occurred when a tractor trailer travelling westbound on Highway 401, flipped onto its side and came to rest on the highway, blocking both westbound lanes.

The male driver, 37 year old Amjad MOHAMMAD, from Mississauga, was transported to hospital with minor injuries and released.

He has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The westbound lanes were closed at that location for several hours while Emergency crews attended to clear the roadway.
