Simon LAFLEUR-LACHAINE – Drunk Driving

(North-Glengarry, ON) – In the early morning of June 4th, at approximately 4:34 am, Hawkesbury OPP Constable Jean-Alexandre Robillard-Cardinal responded to the scene of a collision near marker 26 on Highway 417 in the Township of North Glengarry.

The investigation revealed that a 2012 Honda Civic hit the back of a Ford F-150 pick-up truck that was hauling a trailer. The driver of the Honda lost control and ended up in the median.

Contact with the driver gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol and that his blood alcohol concentration was above the permitted limit. The driver was consequently arrested for driving while having blood alcohol content above 80 mgs per 100ml of blood.

Marijuana was found on the driver.

The driver Simon LAFLEUR-LACHAINE (24 yrs) of Gatineau, QC was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

He was charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with section 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis resin – over 1gram.

The accused was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with section 130 – Careless driving.

He is to appear in court on June 25th in L’Orignal.

Normand PIETTE – Drunk Driving

(Champlain, ON) – In the evening of June 3rd, shortly before 10 pm, Hawkesbury OPP Constable Jean-Alexandre Robillard-Cardinal intercepted a 1999 Toyota Camry for speeding on County Road 4 in the Township of Champlain. The vehicle was stopped on Front Road near Aimé Street in L’Orignal.

The traffic stop gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol and that his blood alcohol concentration was above the permitted limit.

Open accessible liquor was found inside the vehicle.

The driver was consequently arrested for driving while having blood alcohol content above 80 mgs per 100ml of blood.

The driver Normand PIETTE (51 yrs) of Hawkesbury, ON was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

PIETTE was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with section 128 – Speeding

The accused was also charged under the Liquor Licence Act with section 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

He is to appear in court on June 25th in L’Orignal.

Francine LAVOIE – Drunk Driver

(Champlain, ON) – In the late afternoon of Thursday June 12th, shortly after 5:30 pm, Hawkesbury OPP Constables Luc Côté and Bradley Giroux responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision at Caledonia Road in Champlain Township just south of Ritchance Road.

The investigation revealed that the driver had lost control of her red Ford Mustang and had driven onto a field across a ditch. The contact with the driver gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol and that her blood alcohol concentration was above the permitted limit. The driver was consequently arrested for driving while having blood alcohol content above 80 mgs per 100ml of blood.

Consequently, the driver Francine LAVOIE (51 yrs) of Champlain Twp was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

She is scheduled to appear in court on July 17th in L’Orignal.

Jason BEAUDIN – Drunk Driving

(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) – In the early morning of June 14th, at approximately 2:20 am, Hawkesbury OPP Constables Luc Côté and Bradley Giroux intercepted a 2000 grey Nissan Altima on County Road 17 near Péladeau Road in Alfred-Plantagenet.

The traffic stop gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol and that his blood alcohol concentration was above the permitted limit. The driver was consequently arrested for driving while having blood alcohol content above 80 mgs per 100ml of blood.

The driver Jason BEAUDIN (21 yrs) of Grenville, QC was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

THEFT OF GAS LEADS OPP TO INVESTIGATE STOLEN VEHICLE

(BURK’S FALLS, ON) On Thursday, June 12, 2014 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the theft of gas from the Burk’s Falls Shell. At 8:50 a.m., a male attended the Shell station and put $50 worth of gas into a beige GMC Envoy before leaving the station without paying for it.

OPP through their investigation was able to determine that the vehicle was stolen from a taxi company in Sudbury, Ontario earlier that day. OPP are looking for a male Caucasian, between 18-20 years, clean cut and was wearing camouflage pajama pants and a white sweater at the time.

OPP are still searching for the vehicle and any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.”

OPP INVESTIGATE THEFTS OF JEWELLERY IN GRAND VALLEY

(Grand Valley, ON.) -On Monday June 9th 2014 at 8:40 pm Dufferin OPP received a theft complaint .

Preliminary investigation revealed a female victim from Grand Valley received phone call from an unknown male looking to buy jewellery.

The victim agreed to meet the suspect at her residence. Once there she brought him up to her bedroom to show him her the jewellery that she had available. The male suspect bought jewellery and coins from the victim.

While in bedroom the male suspect then stole several pieces of expensive jewellery without knowledge of victim.

The suspect was referred to victim by friend.

These types of crime are not new, and are very often preventable through community engagement; empowering communities to play an active role in crime reduction initiatives.

Police are reminding residents to contact the OPP Communications Centre immediately at 1-888-310-1122 to report any suspicious activity or suspicious vehicles in the area. Information such as suspect physical descriptions, suspect vehicles and direction of travel are useful tools for investigators.

Police also remind residents to be cautious in answering door at their residence and letting strangers into residence without adult family members present.

Bradley Allan ALBRIGHT – Impaired and Disqualified

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Saturday, June 14, 2014 at approximately 10:42 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver operating a blue Chevrolet Impala vehicle in the Williamsford area, in the Township of Chatsworth.

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 15th, police observed the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Hwy. 6. The vehicle was observed swerving on the roadway and the brake lights applied multiple times. The vehicle turned onto Centre Street in Williamsford at which time it was stopped by police, who found the lone driver slumped over into the passenger seat in an effort to conceal himself. The driver, who was known to police, had been drinking alcohol. He was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle as well as for driving a motor vehicle while disqualified. An open part bottle of beer was seized from the vehicle.

The driver was transported to the Chatsworth Detachment where he refused/failed to provide a sample of his breath.

Bradley Allan ALBRIGHT, 50, of the Township of Chatsworth was charged with impaired driving, driving while disqualified and failing or refusing to provide breath sample. He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available under the Liquor Licence Act.

The accused is to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

PAINT SPLATTERED ON GREY RD. 18

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Friday, June 13, 2014 at approximately 7:44 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a mischief report. A motorist attended the Chatsworth Detachment reporting that his 2013 GMC pick-up truck was damaged after he had driven the vehicle through orange paint on Grey Rd. 18, approximately 1.5 km east of Rockford, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on June 13th, someone had thrown a glass jar containing bright orange paint onto the east bound lane of Grey Rd. 18. The jar smashed, causing the paint to splatter over the road, leaving not only the paint, but broken glass as well.

Several vehicles had driven through the orange paint, causing paint splatter to the under carriage of the vehicles, the sides and wheels.

Police believe this act of mischief was planned and deliberate, as a similar incident involving red paint occurred in the same vicinity just over a year ago.

TAXI DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OVER 80 MG

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Sunday, June 15, 2014 at approximately 3:28 a.m., a concerned citizen contacted the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after witnessing a taxi driver of a local cab company consuming alcohol at a house party in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Police observed the suspect vehicle, a red 2007 Toyota, travelling eastbound on Grey Rd. 5 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. The driver, who was carrying two passengers inside the vehicle at the time, was found to have been drinking alcohol and was subsequently given a road side breath test, which he failed. The driver was arrested for impaired driving. The taxi was towed and another taxi attended the scene to transport the passengers to their destination.

The accused was transported to the Chatsworth Detachment for further breath tests which concluded he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Matthew John KIRK, 29, of Owen Sound, was charged with impaired/over 80 milligrams and is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

WEEKEND BREAK IN RESULTS IN ARRESTS

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two adults in relation to a break and enter over the weekend.

On Friday June 13, 2014 at around 7:45 pm police received a call that a resident had returned home to find her residence in the Central Area of Kenora had been broken into and the suspect was still in the residence. Police attended and located the male in the residence. The investigation determined that the male and another suspect had forced entry into the residence and when the home owner returned, one had fled the scene and the other had hid inside the residence.

As a result of this investigation 19 year old Timothy KENT and 18 year old Gerald SMITH of Kenora have been charged with Break and Enter contrary to section 348(1)(a) the Criminal Code. SMITH was released to attend Kenora court on July 31, 2014 to answer to the charge. KENT has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

MISCHIEF TO SCHOOL

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating an incident of mischief to a school located on Oxbow Drive in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre.

Sometime between 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 and 7:55 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014, unknown suspect(s) attended the property on Oxbow Drive. Once on the property, the suspect(s) caused damaged to the rear entry doors. The value of the damage is estimated at approximately $5000.00.

OPERATION LOOKOUT ASSISTS IN IMPAIRED DRIVER ARREST

(Billings Township, ON) – On Friday June 13, 2014 at 7:21 pm Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police received a report from a concerned citizen advising that a driver 2003 red Chevy Malibu was possibly impaired. Short time later another 911 call came into the OPP advising that this same vehicle was driving in an erratic manner. As a result of information received by the public this vehicle was located a short time later in Billings Township. As a result of this investigation the driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with drinking and driving offenses.

Charged with Impaired Operation Care and Control and Exceeding 80 mgs of Alcohol is Jeremiah WASSEGIJIG age 24 of M’Chigeeng, Ontario. He was released from custody on a Promise to Appear will be appearing in Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay to answer to the said charges. The vehicle was subsequently impounded.

Operation Lookout is an island wide program that encourages motorists or the public to call and report possible impaired or aggressive drivers. DOMESTIC ALTERCATION LEADS TO WEAPON CHARGES

(Sandfield Township, ON) – On Saturday June 14, 2014 at 12:10 am Manitoulin OPP officers responded to a call in relation to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Sandfield Township. During the altercation a firearm was displayed. As a result of this investigation a 20 year old Manitoulin man has been charged with the following offences

Domestic Assault
Mischief – Domestic
Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Careless storage of a Firearm

The male was held in custody to appear for a Bail Hearing on Monday June 16, 2004 at 10:00 am at Ontario Bail Court in Gore Bay, Ontario.

FRIDAY THE 13TH RESULTS

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reporting that this past Friday the 13th, Motorcycle Event, Port Dover was a relatively peaceful event.

Numerous motorcycles and spectators descended on Port Dover starting early Friday morning, with only few minor incidents occurring.

Police responded to several reported incidents in Port Dover throughout the day with a majority of the incidents being medical and liquor related, 911 hang up calls (pocket dials) from cellular phones as well as motorcycle collisions.

Over the course of the evening hours several people were arrested for Liquor Licence related offences, with police also responding to assaults, mischiefs and motor vehicle collisions. Police also conducted several R.I.D.E. programs and responded to several domestic related calls for service.

All in all for the large number of people attending Port Dover, estimated at approximately 100,000, the crowds were well behaved.

“We responded to minor calls for service. This was a well-attended event with no major issues encountered by the OPP. I would like to thank all those in attendance for their orderly behaviour and working respectively to ensure everyone’s safety,” comments Inspector Zvonko HORVAT, Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander.

MALE ARRESTED AFTER POLICE STOP VEHICLE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Highway Enforcement Team have charged a 35 year old male after police stopped a motor vehicle at a Norfolk Street North, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Friday, June 13, 2014 at approximately 11:09 a.m., police observed a motor vehicle travelling on Norfolk Street North which attracted the officer’s attention. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged the driver of the motor vehicle.

Charged with the following offences is 35 year old Robert Corey MCARTHUR of Norfolk County, Ontario.

Drive motor vehicle using a handheld wireless communication device

Driving while under suspension

Possession of Marihuana

Possession of OxyContin

Possession of Morphine

Drive motor vehicle – no licence

He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.
