Puppies & Trail Camera Stolen

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, November 27, 2020, at approximately 8:40 p.m., the Norfolk County Detachment received a report of a theft from a Tisdale Road, Delhi, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that between 6:40 p.m., and 8:40 p.m., unknowns attended the address and removed two puppies and trail camera from the property.

The animals are described as approximately 5 months old and are a mixture of Ridgeback, Mastiff, Newfoundlander and Shepard. Both dogs area females and are tan in colour.

Members of the Norfolk County OPP are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Tyler RUSSELL – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 27-year-old with impaired driving following a traffic stop on Ottawa Street, Haldimand County, ON.   

On Friday November 27, 2020 at 8:15 p.m., OPP were conducting patrols in the Cayuga area when a vehicle caught the attention of an officer.

Police stopped the vehicle and investigated.

While the officer spoke with the driver, signs of impairment were detected and the driver was subsequently arrested.

OPP has charged 27-year-old Tyler RUSSELL of Cayuga, Haldimand County, ON with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

Officer Assaulted By Drunk Driver – Hanna ACASTER

(ST. CLAIR TWP, ON) – On November 19, 2020 at approximately 8:30 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a possible impaired driver complaint on Lyndoch Street, St. Clair Township.  

Lambton OPP members located the vehicle on River Road and spoke with the driver. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment. The officer attempted to place the driver under arrest for impaired operation when the driver actively resisted. The officer was able to gain control and place the driver into the rear of the police cruiser. At that time, the driver proceeded to kick the officer multiple times prior to the door being closed. The driver was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they refused to provide a breath sample.  

Hanna ACASTER, 30 year old of St. Clair TWP, has been charged with Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Blood, Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand and Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.  

The accused was held in custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia.

Jeffrey THOMPSON – Drunk Driving

(PETROLIA, ON) – On November 18, 2020 at approximately 11:30 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol in the Town of Petrolia.  

Lambton OPP members locate a vehicle and initiate a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. A reading of “FAIL” was determined. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and provided two samples over the legal limit.  

Jeffrey THOMPSON, 52 year old of Enniskillen TWP, has been charged with Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.  

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario at a later date.

Ronald SHEFFER – Drunk Driving

(ST. CLAIR TWP, ON) – On November 16, 2020 at approximately 9:30 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Stanley Line, St. Clair Township.  

While on patrol, a Lambton OPP member initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle being operated erratically. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.

Chance HUFF – Drunk Driving

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On November 14, 2020 at approximately 4:15 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Main Street, Town of Grand Bend.  

Lambton OPP members locate a vehicle driving aggressively and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. A reading of “FAIL” was determined. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and provided two samples over the legal limit.  

Chance HUFF, 24 year old of Ridgetown, has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Blood and Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.  

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario at a later date.

Lambton OPP member located a vehicle stopped on the side of the road. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment. Christina English Facing Drunk Driving Charge – Vehicle Found In Ditch

(PETROLIA, ON) – On November 5, 2020 at approximately 7:40 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Lambton Shores Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision on Northville Road, Municipality of Lambton Shores.  

Lambton OPP members located the vehicle in the ditch.  Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the local hospital via Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with minor injuries. The driver provided two suitable samples of breath above the legal limit.  

Christina ENGLISH, 29 year-old of South Hampton, has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs and Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.  

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on December 14, 2020.

Blair TURK- Drunk Driving, Minor Injuries

(PETROLIA, ON) – On October 31, 2020 at approximately 12:30 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Discovery Line, Town of Petrolia.  

Lambton OPP members located the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the local hospital via Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with minor injuries. The driver provided two suitable samples of breath above the legal limit.  

Blair TURK, 18 years-old of Plympton-Wyoming, has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs and Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.  

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on November 23, 2020.

Child Dead After Police Attempt To Stop Vehicle

(LINDSAY, ON)- On Thursday, November 26, 2020, at approximately 8:48 a.m. members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service in the Municipality of Trent Lakes related to a domestic dispute involving a firearm.

Police from the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) Detachment of the OPP attempted to stop the vehicle involved in the dispute.

There was a motor vehicle collision between the vehicle and an OPP cruiser at a location on Pigeon Lake Road in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

An altercation occurred between the male driver and officers. The male was apprehended, with the assistance of members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service. This male was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre with serious injuries.

A CKL OPP officer also sustained serious injury and is being treated in Toronto.

A child died at the scene as a result of the incident.

The Criminal Investigation Branch of the OPP will manage the scene and on-going criminal investigation with the assistance of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service and York Regional Police Service, at the request of OPP Commissioner Carrique.

Two People Charged With First Degree Murder – Deceased Indentified

(POINT GRONDINE RESERVE, ON) – On October 25, 2020 at 10:20 a.m., members of the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a sudden death incident where a person was located on a trail, in Point Grondine Reserve, off of Highway 637, Killarney. It was later determined that the incident location was within the Wikwemikong First Nation Territory.

The deceased has been identified as Brant BURKE, age 56, from Killarney.

A joint forces investigation was conducted by Wikwemikong Tribal Police, with the assistance of the Nipissing West OPP Crime Unit, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), the OPP Forensic Identification Service (FIS) under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

On November 24, 2020, police arrested and charged Kerry BURKE, age 58, from Killarney with First Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

On November 25, 2020, police arrested and charged Melissa SHERIDAN, age 39, of Sudbury with First Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused are being held in custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Bail Court (video conferencing) on December 8, 2020 in Sudbury.

The investigation is continuing.

First Degree Murder Charge – Roger DESCHENES

(EAST FERRIS TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid criminal charges in connection with the murder of a young North Bay area mother 40 years ago.

On July 10, 1980, 20-year-old Micheline St. AMOUR was found in a bedroom of her East Ferris Township home. She died as a result of injuries caused by stab wounds.

In the more than four decades since this incident, members of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch have made numerous appeals to the public for tips and as forensic (DNA) technology advanced, they employed innovative investigation techniques to help solve the case. As a result, information was generated allowing investigators to further explore avenues of interest in this unresolved case.

On Wednesday, November 18, 2020, police arrested and charged Roger DESCHENES, 62-years-old, of North Bay with First Degree Murder. The accused appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on November 19, 2020 and is remanded into custody until a bail hearing can be scheduled.

Costy DESSOURCES – Drug Trafficking

(NIPIGON, ON) On November 22, 2020 at 8:37pm officers from the Nipigon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11-17 in Lyon Township (west of Nipigon) for a Highway Traffic Act offence.

Further investigation lead to officers locating and seizing a quantity of Oxycodone pills. The driver was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.

Costy DESSOURCES age 50 of Toronto, ON is charged with.

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody on November 23, 2020.

Shooting – Description of vehicle and person of interest released

(KILLALOE, ON) – Members of the Killaloe OPP Detachment continue to investigate the incident involving a 20 year old woman from Etobicoke, who was airlifted to hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m., on Friday October 2, 2020, members of the Killaloe OPP detachment responded to a 911 call at a residence on Silas Lane, in the Township of Madawaska Valley. Investigation has revealed the victim received the gunshot wound while walking off trail in the area of John Watson Road and Silas Lane.

Police information suggests that a vehicle seen in the area was an older model dark green GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver has been described as a white male, 40-60 years of age with light brown hair and a beard. The passenger has been described as a white male 30-40 years of age. The OPP would like to speak to these individuals.
