Julie KNAPP Arrested Again

(SERPENT RIVER FIRST NATION, ON) – A Sudbury driver was arrested and charged after report of erratic behaviour on Highway 17, Serpent River First Nation.

On March 29, 2024, at approximately 8:00 a.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended an assist call at a residence when a driver of a brown Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) yelled at police and displayed very bizarre behaviour.  Because of these signs of impairment, they were arrested and assessed by an OPP Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE). The vehicle was towed and impounded.

In the driver’s possession, police seized an air soft imitation Berretta handgun, a large hunting knife, a switch blade knife, suspected cocaine, suspected suboxone tablets, suspected Fentanyl, suspected crystal meth, and a crack pipe.  

Julie KNAPP, 43-years-old, from Sudbury was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Failure to comply with release order (three counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 2, 2024.

The OPP would like to remind the motoring public to drive sober; this includes drug consumption as well. Impairment by drugs is a crime under the Criminal Code and drivers are subject to the same penalties as those who are charged with driving while impaired by alcohol.  A charge of impairment by drugs involves all drugs, be it prescription, over-the-counter and those that are illegal.

$7.5 Million Meth Bust – One From Minto Arrested – Name Released

(HEAD CLARA MARIA TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person in relation to drug trafficking after a traffic hazard complaint on Highway #17 in Head Clara Maria Township.

 On March 27, 2024, just after 1:30 a.m., OPP received a call about a traffic hazard on Highway #17 in Head Clara Maria Township. Police located the vehicle and lone occupant, they were arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Robin MOULTON, 54 years old, of Minto, New Brunswick has been charged with impaired operation, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking as well as trafficking in schedule I substance. The accused remains in custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 4, 2024.

As a result of the initial investigation a CDSA warrant was executed with the assistance of the UOV Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU), Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU) and Forensic Identification Service (FIS) which resulted in the seizure of approximately 125 Kg of crystal methamphetamine (estimated street value of $7.5 million dollars). Also seized was a prohibited firearm, suppressor, Canadian currency and a motor vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.

$70,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A handgun, Canadian Currency and a large quantity of drugs were seized after the execution of a search warrant in Kapuskasing.

On March 26, 2024 shortly after 7:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of James Bay OPP officers, the North East Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), executed a search warrant on O’Brien Avenue in Kapuskasing.

During the investigation, police seized drugs suspected to be fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, oxycodone, and Xanax with a total estimated street value of $70,000. Also seized was approximately $2400 in Canadian Currency, a Glock 43 handgun, and six cell phones.

As a result of this investigation, Marcel DUMONT, 64-years-of-age, of Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with the following:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by a crime, under $5000

·        Careless storage of a firearm

·        Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm

Further, Felix OBENG-DONKOR, 28-years-of-age, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with the following:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by a crime, under $5000

·        Careless storage of a firearm

·        Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm

·        Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order

Further, a 15-year-old person from Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by a crime, under $5000

·        Careless storage of a firearm

·        Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm

·        Fail to comply with a release order

The three above mentioned accused persons remain in custody awaiting a future bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Kapuskasing.

Further, a 16-year-old person from Whitby was arrested and charged with the following:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid – two counts

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by a crime, under $5000

·        Careless storage of a firearm

·        Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

·        Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm

The later accused persons was released from a bail hearing and is set to appear before the Ontario Court in Kapuskasing on a April 29, 2024.

The OPP will not be releasing the name of two of the accused persons under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

The OPP remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community members. Operations like these are essential in combating the harmful effects of illicit drugs and the associated criminal activities.

Wroxeter Meth Bust – Repeat Offenders Arrested Again

(HOWICK, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and members of the Huron OPP resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs, cash, and offence-related property with a total value exceeding $42,000.

On Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, a traffic stop was conducted in Perth County which resulted in the seizure of controlled substances, Canadian currency, and offence-related items. One individual was arrested and charged at that time.

On Thursday, March 28th, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Centre Street in Wroxeter, in the Township of Howick. Three individuals were located inside the residence during the warrant execution. Two of these individuals were charged with criminal offences.

As a result of the investigation, police seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine. Other seized items included a digital scale, packaging material and cellular phones. A quantity of Canadian currency was also seized. Recovered stolen property included a flat bed trailer, an e-bike and road signs.

The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is $29,900.

The combined estimated value of the seized property is $10,835.

Total Canadian currency seized is $1,835.  

Casandra BAKER, 31 years of age from Howick Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking,
  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled in the Stratford Ontario Court of Justice.

Jodi FIDLER, 40 years of age from Howick Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Kevin SPITZIG, 46 years of age from Howick Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000,
  • Altering/Removing VIN.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, then later remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Drug Bust – Shane DEVEAUX Arrested

(SUNDRIDGE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with multiple drug related offences after a traffic stop.

On Tuesday March 26, 2024, the Almaguin Highlands OPP Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and detachment members conducted a traffic stop on Ontario Street in the Village of Sundridge. Police arrested one person and located suspected cocaine, ICE tabs of amphetamines, Percocet, and methamphetamine. The street value for the drugs seized was approximately $1800.00 Police also located and seized an imitation pistol and cellphones.

As a result of the investigation, Shane DEVEAUX, 43-years-old of South River was charged with the following:

·      Resist Peace Officer

·      Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court

·      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

$300,000 Meaford Drug Bust – Names Released

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – Two individuals were charged following an investigation into drug trafficking and the execution of a search warrant at a residence by the Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On March 27, 2024, at 5:00 am, members of Grey Bruce CSCU with assistance of the Huron-Perth CSCU, Wellington CSCU as well as members of the Tactics & Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a property on Concession Road 2 North in the Municipality of Meaford.

During the search officers discovered and seized a quantity of cocaine, ketamine, crack cocaine, along with Canadian currency, firearms, and drug paraphernalia. The value of the seized controlled substance is estimated to be $300,000.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 59-year-old Ian Harker of the Municipality of Meaford with:

$300,000 Drug Bust

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – In early 2024, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation into drug trafficking through-out the District of Muskoka.

On March 20th and 21st, 2024, with the assistance of theCentral Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit, and Bracebridge Detachment officers, investigators executed five search warrants, two in the Town of Bracebridge and three withinthe City of Toronto. As a result of the investigation, police seized a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, various prescription medications, a large quantity of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.The estimated street value of the drugs seized is in excess of $300,000. 

As a result of the investigation, the following accused were arrested and face the following charges:

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Meth A Factor

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A local individual is facing drug possession charges after a trespassing incident was reported in Pembroke.

On the evening of March 9, 2024, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended an apartment building on Elizabeth Street in Pembroke in response to a trespassing complaint. Police located an individual who was trespassing and took them into custody. Suspected fentanyl and methamphetamines were seized during the investigation.  

Richard FARR Jr., age 36 of Laurentian Valley Township, has been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Criminal Code (CC) and Trespass to Property Act (TPA) offences:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – fentanyl
  • Fail to comply with probation – three counts
  • Enter premises when entry prohibited

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 3, 2024.

Drug Bust – JEWELL & MOWATT

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On March 20, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Dugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence on Chalmers Crescent in Elliot Lake.

As a result of the warrant being executed, approximately 386 grams of suspected cocaine (approximate street value $17,000), digital scales, packaging material (dime bags), approximately $1700 in cash, and four cell phones were seized. 

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine, East Algoma Crime Unit, and uniform members were involved with the investigation.         

Emmanuel JEWELL, 42-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

Jeffrey MOWATT, 52-years-old, of Toronto was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 9, 2024.

Repeat Offenders Arrested In Meth Bust

(SABLES-SPANISH RIVERS TOWNSHIP, ON) – Two people have been charged after a search warrant was executed in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.

On March 19, 2024, shortly after 8:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of members of the Manitoulin OPP executed a search warrant at a residence on Young Street.

Police arrested two people and located suspected methamphetamine and ecstasy. Police also located a firearm, ammunition, digital scale, packing material, and over $1,500 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, Zachary DELISLE, 37-years-old, from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on March 28, 2024.

Darwin FLAMAND, 30-years-old, from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township has been charged with fail to comply with Probation Order. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 15, 2024.

Repeat Offenders Arrested Again – Meth A Factor

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Three individuals were charged following an investigation into drug trafficking and the execution of a search warrant at a residence by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand/Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

At approximately 6:05 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the Haldimand/Norfolk OPP CSCU executed a search warrant at a residence on Kent Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

During the search, officers discovered and seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and Clonazepam, along with an imitation handgun, other weapons, ammunition, Canadian currency, and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, three stolen bicycles were recovered.

As a result, three individuals were taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 38-year-old Jacob HEINRICHS of Norfolk County:

The accused individuals were detained in custody to appear at a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe.

Meth Bust – RATHIER

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A Laurentian Valley Township resident is facing drug and weapons charges after members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in Pembroke.   

On March 11, 2024, shortly before 4:00 p.m., officers stopped a passenger vehicle on MacKay Street. Cannabis was found to be readily available in the vehicle and officers also seized suspected methamphetamine along with weapons, including a modified nail gun, ammunition, and replica firearm.

As a result of this investigation 27-year-old Andrew RATHIER is facing the following charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Criminal Code (CC) and Cannabis Control Act (CCA):

·        Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine

·        Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose

·        Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

·        Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused was released following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 15, 2024.

Hwy 11 Meth Bust – Names Released

(CALDER TOWNSHIP, ON) – Two people were arrested after police conducted a routine traffic stop.

On March 11, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had no lights to the rear, on Highway 11 between Cochrane and Smooth Rock Falls. An investigation led to the arrest of the two occupants, and a subsequent search of the vehicle.

Police seized drugs suspected to be methamphetamine tablets, cannabis resin (hash), as well as bear spray, a large kitchen knife, and a small quantity of Canadian currency. A total estimated value of the seizure was $1700.

As a result of this investigation, Jonathan FORGER-HOTTE, 29-years-of-age of Mont Laurier, QC was charged with the following:

Further, Frederic PRIVE, 32 years-of-age of Saint Colomban, QC was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamines
  • Possession of a prohibited device for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • No clear view to the sides
  • Drive without proper rear lights
  • No clear view to the rear

Both accused persons were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 9, 2024 in Cochrane.

Bomb Investigation In Dryden – Two Arrested – Meth A Factor

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals after an incident that took place in the City of Dryden.

On March 16, 2024, officers from the Dryden Detachment were made aware of an individual possibly in possession of explosives. At this time an investigation was commenced.

As a result of the investigation, explosive devices along with suspected cocaine and methamphetamine were located. Two individuals were taking into custody and charged.

Maya Felske, 23-years-old from Dryden, ON charged with:

  • Explosives – Making or possessing for unlawful purposes.
  • Uttering Threats – Damage Property
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamines
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I substance – Cocaine
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

The accused person has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on March 18, 2024.

Micaila Lizotte, 21-years-old, from Dryden, ON charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine

The accused person has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on April 15, 2024.

The investigation was completed by the Dryden Detachment and North West Region Crime Unit with assistance from the OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU).

Weapon & Meth Bust – Christopher PRUNNER Arrested

(WILLIAMSBURG, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized numerous prohibited and restricted weapons from a home in Williamsburg, northwest of Morrisburg, and laid firearms related charged.

The investigation began in early March.

CSCU officers, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU) and members of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment executed a search warrant on March 15, 2024, at a residence on Pruner Road.

They located and seized several shotguns, rifles, handguns ammunition and prohibited ammunition magazines which were not secured inside the home. Some of the firearms were loaded. Officers also seized a small quantity of methamphetamine.

Christopher PRUNNER, age 31 of South Dundas was arrested at the scene and has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – two counts
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on March 18, 2024.
